RESUMO

The intricate geometry and thin walls of the motor housing in new energy vehicles render it susceptible to casting defects during conventional casting processes. However, the lost-foam casting process holds a unique advantage in eliminating casting defects and ensuring the strength and air-tightness of thin-walled castings. In this paper, the lost-foam casting process of thin-walled A356 alloy motor housing was simulated using ProCAST software (2016.0). The results indicate that the filling process is stable and exhibits characteristics of diffusive filling. Solidification occurs gradually from thin to thick. Defect positions are accurately predicted. Through analysis of the defect volume range, the optimal process parameter combination is determined to be a pouring temperature of 700 °C, an interfacial heat transfer coefficient of 50, and a sand thermal conductivity coefficient of 0.5. Microscopic analysis of the motor housing fabricated using the process optimized through numerical simulations reveals the absence of defects such as shrinkage at critical locations.

RESUMO

The rapid development of information technology has made the amount of information in massive texts far exceed human intuitive cognition, and dependency parsing can effectively deal with information overload. In the background of domain specialization, the migration and application of syntactic treebanks and the speed improvement in syntactic analysis models become the key to the efficiency of syntactic analysis. To realize domain migration of syntactic tree library and improve the speed of text parsing, this paper proposes a novel approach-the Double-Array Trie and Multi-threading (DAT-MT) accelerated graph fusion dependency parsing model. It effectively combines the specialized syntactic features from small-scale professional field corpus with the generalized syntactic features from large-scale news corpus, which improves the accuracy of syntactic relation recognition. Aiming at the problem of high space and time complexity brought by the graph fusion model, the DAT-MT method is proposed. It realizes the rapid mapping of massive Chinese character features to the model's prior parameters and the parallel processing of calculation, thereby improving the parsing speed. The experimental results show that the unlabeled attachment score (UAS) and the labeled attachment score (LAS) of the model are improved by 13.34% and 14.82% compared with the model with only the professional field corpus and improved by 3.14% and 3.40% compared with the model only with news corpus; both indicators are better than DDParser and LTP 4 methods based on deep learning. Additionally, the method in this paper achieves a speedup of about 3.7 times compared to the method with a red-black tree index and a single thread. Efficient and accurate syntactic analysis methods will benefit the real-time processing of massive texts in professional fields, such as multi-dimensional semantic correlation, professional feature extraction, and domain knowledge graph construction.

RESUMO

In the general environment of lightweight automobiles, the integrated die-casting technology proposed by Tesla has become the general mode to better achieve weight reduction in automobiles. The die-casting mold required by integrated die-casting technology has the characteristics of large scale and complexity. Hence, higher requirements are put forward for the comprehensive performance of the die steel. Despite the stagnation in the progress of conventional strengthening methods, enhancing the performance of die steel has become increasingly challenging. Indeed, it necessitates exploring novel die steel and optimizing heat treatment and reinforcement technologies. This article summarizes and analyzes the development status of die steel and corresponding heat treatment and microstructure manipulation as well as strengthening methods and elaborates on an excellent nano-strengthening technology. Furthermore, this review will aid researchers in establishing a comprehensive understanding of the development status of die steel and the processes utilized for its strengthening. It will also assist them in developing die steel with improved comprehensive performance to meet the high demand for mold steel in the integrated die-casting technology of the new era.

RESUMO

It is well known that the development of lightweight alloys with improved comprehensive performance and application value are the future development directions for the ultra-high-strength 7xxx series Al-Zn-Mg-Cu alloys used in the aircraft field. As the lightest metal element in nature, lithium (Li) has outstanding advantages in reducing the density and increasing the elastic modulus in aluminum alloys, so Al-Zn-Mg-Cu alloys containing Li have gained widespread attention. Furthermore, since the Al-Zn-Mg-Cu alloy is usually strengthened by aging treatment, it is crucial to understand how Li addition affects its aging precipitation process. As such, in this article, the effects and mechanism of Li on the aging precipitation behavior and the impact of Li content on the aging precipitation phase of Al-Zn-Mg-Cu alloys are briefly reviewed, and the influence of Li on the service properties, including mechanical properties, wear resistance, and fatigue resistance, of Al-Zn-Mg-Cu alloys are explained. In addition, the corresponding development prospects and challenges of the Al-Zn-Mg-Cu-Li alloy are also proposed. This review is helpful to further understand the role of Li in Al-Zn-Mg-Cu alloys and provides a reference for the development of high-strength aluminum alloys containing Li with good comprehensive properties.

RESUMO

Poly(butylene succinate-butylene terephthalate) (PBST) and polylactic acid (PLA) are both biodegradable polymeric materials. PBST has good ductility but low strength, while PLA exhibits high strength but poor toughness. Based on the complementary mechanical properties of the two polymers, PBST/PLA blends were prepared by melt blending in the mixing chamber of a torque rheometer using styrene-maleic anhydride copolymer (PSMA) as a compatibilizer. The effects of different contents of PSMA on the crystalline properties, thermal properties, mechanical properties, rheological behavior, and morphology of PBST/PLA blends were investigated. The results showed that the addition of PSMA improved the compatibility between PBST and PLA. When the amount of PSMA is 3-4 wt%, the comprehensive mechanical properties of the blends are optimal, and the tensile strength was increased by 61.7% compared with the binary blend without PSMA. Additionally, rheological tests illustrated that the blends exhibited a typical shear-thinning behavior and belonged to pseudoplastic non-Newtonian fluids.

RESUMO

Poly(ß-hydroxybutyrate-co-ß-hydroxyvalerate) (PHBV) was modified with endic anhydride grafted poly(propylene carbonate) (EA-PPC), and then PHBV/EA-PPC composite polymers were prepared by melt blending under the catalysis of stannous octoate (Sn(Oct)2). The blends were characterized by an electronic universal testing machine, cantilever impact testing machine, and differential scanning calorimeter (DSC), as well as dynamic mechanical analysis (DMA) and field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM). Effects of the amount of Sn(Oct)2 on the mechanical properties, thermal properties, and morphology of the blends were discussed. The results showed that the addition of Sn(Oct)2 promoted the transesterification reaction between PHBV and EA-PPC, and the compatibility between PHBV and PPC was greatly improved. When the amount of Sn(Oct)2 was 3 wt%, the impact strength and elongation at break of the PHBV/EA-PPC blend increased from 3.7 kJ/m2 and 4.1% to 5.9 kJ/m2 and 387.5%, respectively, and there was no significant decrease in tensile strength. Additionally, four esterification reaction mechanisms for PHBV/EA-PPC blends were proposed.

RESUMO

A new approach was proposed and its role in improvement of the beam quality of high-power broad-area diode lasers was demonstrated, in which a composite arrow array and trench microstructure was used to suppress the beam waist and tailor the high order lateral modes. The beam waist shows a special shrinkage with increasing injection current resulting from the combined effect of mode tailoring and the thermal lens effect. A 58% improvement in lateral beam parameter product was realized compared with conventional broad-area diode lasers.

RESUMO

High power femtosecond semiconductor laser based on saw-toothed taper mode-locked laser and amplifier was demonstrated with compressed amplified spontaneous emission (ASE). The external-cavity mode-locked taper laser generated the clean optical pulses without any sub-pulse components. A semiconductor optical amplifier (SOA) with tilted taper waveguide and saw-toothed edge reduced evidently the ASE background. The saw-tooth microstructures were optimized and it was found that the saw-tooth of right-right angled triangle showed the best effect. The ratio of the maximum intensity to background radiation was increased by 21.9% and the power was increased by 30.5% due to the saw-tooth microstructure in the SOA. The pulse duration of 495 fs and a peak power over 1.5 kW with repetition rate of 579 MHz were realized after a double-pass grating compressor.

RESUMO

For long distance optical interconnects, 1.3-µm surface-emitting lasers are key devices. However, the low output power of several milliwatts limits their application. In this study, by introducing a two-dimensional photonic-crystal and using InAs quantum dots as active materials, a continuous-wave, 13.3-mW output power, 1.3-µm wavelength, room-temperature surface-emitting laser is achieved. In addition, such a device can be operated at high temperatures of up to 90 °C. The enhanced output power results from the flat band structure of the photonic crystal and an extra feedback mechanism. Surface emission is realized by photonic crystal diffraction and thus the distributed Bragg reflector is eliminated. The proposed device provides a means to overcome the limitations of low-power 1.3-µm surface-emitting lasers and increase the number of applications thereof.

RESUMO

It is widely known that the special performances and extensive applications of the nanoscale materials are determined by their as-synthesized structures, especially their growth sizes and morphologies. Hereinto, titanium carbides, which show brilliant comprehensive properties, have attracted considerable attention from researchers. How to give full play to their potentials in the light-weight manufacture, microwave absorption, electromagnetic protection, energy conversion and catalyst areas has been widely studied. In this summarized article, the synthesis methods and mechanisms, corresponding growth morphologies of titanium carbides and their further applications were briefly reviewed and analyzed according to their different morphological dimensions, including one-dimensional nanostructures, two-dimensional nanosheets and three-dimensional nanoparticles. It is believed that through the investigation of the crystal structures, synthesis methods, growth mechanisms, and morphology characterizations of those titanium carbides, new lights could be shed on the regulation and control of the ceramic phase specific morphologies to meet with their excellent properties and applications. In addition, the corresponding development prospects and challenges of titanium carbides with various growth morphologies were also summarized.

RESUMO

Broad-area diode lasers (BALs) with high power are highly desirable for a variety of applications. However, such lasers suffer from strongly deteriorated beam quality due to multimode behavior in the lateral direction. In this Letter, we present an approach to flexibly tailor the optical loss of different-order lateral modes by etching micro-holes on the laser mesa with controlled position and numbers. Through arranging the micro-holes at the peak positions of high-order lateral modes with an increasing number from the mesa center to both edges, high-order modes are suppressed due to a larger propagation loss than the fundamental mode. As a result of enhanced mode discrimination, we demonstrate that this technique provides a greatly improved beam quality and about two times higher brightness for 100 µm wide BAL, while maintaining high power and slope efficiency output.

RESUMO

The nonlinearity of semiconductor quantum dots under the condition of low light levels has many important applications. In this study, linear absorption, self-Kerr nonlinearity, fifth-order nonlinearity and cross-Kerr nonlinearity of multiple quantum dots, which are coupled by multiple tunneling, are investigated by using the probability amplitude method. It is found that the linear and nonlinear properties of multiple quantum dots can be modified by the tunneling intensity and energy splitting of the system. Most importantly, it is possible to realize enhanced self-Kerr nonlinearity, fifth-order nonlinearity and cross-Kerr nonlinearity with low linear absorption by choosing suitable parameters for the multiple quantum dots. These results have many potential applications in nonlinear optics and quantum information devices using semiconductor quantum dots.

RESUMO

A coherently prepared asymmetric double semiconductor quantum well (QW) is proposed to realize parity-time (PT) symmetry. By appropriately tuning the laser fields and the pertinent QW parameters, PT-symmetric optical potentials are obtained by three different methods. Such a coherent QW system is reconfigurable and controllable, and it can generate new approaches of theoretically and experimentally studying PT-symmetric phenomena.

RESUMO

We proposed a modified off-axis spectral beam combining method, based on the concept of selective feedback. A high reflectivity mirror with a fixed width was used to select and couple back the optical modes in the external cavity. The emission power exceeding 20 W with M2 factors of 2.7 × 4.4 in the fast and slow axes was demonstrated. The beam quality of the system was improved by a factor of three to four compared with that of a single emitter, and a high brightness of 190 MW cm-2 str-1 was achieved.

RESUMO

Bimodal hybrid in-situ nano-/micro-size TiC/Al composites were prepared with combustion synthesis of Al-Ti-C system and hot press consolidation. Attempt was made to obtain in-situ bimodal-size TiC particle reinforced dense Al matrix composites by using different carbon sources in the reaction process of hot pressing forming. Microstructure showed that the obtained composites exhibited reasonable bimodal-sized TiC distribution in the matrix and low porosity. With the increasing of the carbon nano tube (CNT) content from 0 to 100 wt. %, the average size of the TiC particles decreases and the compressive strength of the composite increase; while the fracture strain increases first and then decreases. The compressive properties of the bimodal-sized TiC/Al composites, especially the bimodal-sized composite synthesized by Al-Ti-C with 50 wt. % CNTs as carbon source, were improved compared with the composites reinforced with single sized TiC. The strengthening mechanism of the in-situ bimodal-sized particle reinforced aluminum matrix composites was revealed.

RESUMO

A novel spectral beam combining (SBC) approach based on off-axis feedback in a V-shaped external cavity (VSBC) was proposed and demonstrated. A highly reflecting mirror was used to supply the optical feedback by partial overlapping the beam. The advantages of simple setup, output coupler free, tunable beam quality and emission power over traditional SBC were presented. The beam quality exceeds single emitter with the similar energy conversion efficiency to the traditional SBC. The M2 factors of 2.31 × 3.76 in fast and slow axes and a brightness of 122 MWcm-2sr-1 were realized at 30 A based on a commercial broad-area diode laser array.

RESUMO

We report a near-diffraction-limited tapered Bragg reflection waveguide laser (BRL) with a 10 µm ridge width, which is significantly larger than the conventional design. The large mode expansion in the vertical waveguide enables a scalable increase in the ridge width for single lateral mode operation. The role of the taper angle in the performance of tapered BRLs with the intrinsic characteristics of a thick vertical waveguide was investigated. The results indicate that the BRL with a taper angle of 3° shows the best far-field performance. An extremely low vertical divergence angle of 14.5° and a lateral divergence as low as 2.8° for 95% power inclusion were realized. A continuous-wave power exceeding 1 W was demonstrated. Over the entire operating current range, the vertical beam is almost unchanged with an excellent beam quality (M2) of about 1.3. Lateral beam width increases slightly at higher currents due to the increasing contribution of side lobes, but it still remains nearly diffraction-limited with a lateral M2 of less than 2. Narrow beam divergence and high beam quality of the lasers allow simple and inexpensive collimation and coupling.

RESUMO

An asymmetric double semiconductor quantum well is proposed to realize two-dimensional parity-time (PT) symmetry and an electromagnetically induced grating. In such a nontrivial grating with PT symmetry, the incident probe photons can be diffracted to selected angles depending on the spatial relationship of the real and imaginary parts of the refractive index. Such results are due to the interference mechanism between the amplitude and phase of the grating and can be manipulated by the probe detuning, modulation amplitudes of the standing wave fields, and interaction length of the medium. Such a system may lead to new approaches of observing PT-symmetry-related phenomena and has potential applications in photoelectric devices requiring asymmetric light transport using semiconductor quantum wells.

RESUMO

The in situ SiC/Al composites were fabricated in Al-Si-C systems with different Si/C mass ratios and holding time by the method of combustion synthesis and hot press consolidation. The influences of Si/C mass ratio and holding time on the phase constitution, microstructure, and hardness of the composites were investigated. The results indicate that the increase of Si/C mass ratio leads to more uniform size distribution of the SiC particles in the Al matrix. Moreover, by improving the Si/C mass ratio from 4 : 1 to 5 : 1, the maximum size of SiC particle was reduced from 4.1 µm to 2.0 µm. Meanwhile, the percentage of submicroparticles was increased from 22% to 63%, and the average hardness value of the composites was increased by 13%. In addition, when the holding time is set to be fifteen minutes, the Al4C3 phase did not exist in the composites because of its total reactions with Si atoms to form SiC particles, and the average hardness value was 73.8 HB.

RESUMO

High power and high brightness mid-infrared GaSb based lasers are desired for many applications, however, the high lateral divergence is still the influence factor for practical application. In this paper, a simple and effective approach based on the fishbone-shape microstructure was proposed, the effective improvement on both the lateral divergence and output power of 2 µm GaSb based broad-area lasers was demonstrated. The lateral divergence is reduced averagely by 55% and 15.8° for 95% power content is realized. The continuous-wave emission power is increased about 19% with the decreased threshold current. The other merits for this microstructure are the unchanged intrinsic characteristic of broad-area lasers and the low cost fabrication.
