RESUMO

This review summarizes the research progress over the past 30 years on the relationship between Mycoplasma pneumoniae infection and chronic respiratory diseases such as asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), and bronchiectasis. Mycoplasma pneumoniae is a common cause of community-acquired pneumonia, particularly in children and young adults. Key findings from recent studies indicate that M. pneumoniae infection is associated with a higher risk of asthma exacerbations and may contribute to the development of bronchiectasis in susceptible individuals. Additionally, emerging evidence suggests that M. pneumoniae-induced immune dysregulation plays a crucial role in the pathogenesis of chronic lung diseases. This review aims to summarize the current understanding of the potential links between M. pneumoniae pneumonia and various chronic respiratory conditions, including asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), and bronchiectasis. We discuss the epidemiological data, pathogenic mechanisms, clinical manifestations, and long-term consequences of M. pneumoniae-related respiratory illnesses. Additionally, we highlight the challenges in diagnosis and treatment, as well as future research directions in this field.

The escalating demands for miniaturization, integration, and portability in electronic devices have underscored the criticality of efficient heat dissipation. The utilization of high-performance thermal interface materials (TIMs) to fill the gaps between contacting surfaces holds significant potential for enhancing heat transfer efficiency. Herein, we successfully enhance the thermal properties of the epoxy composite TIM by integrating in situ grown vertically aligned graphene on the metal surface using radio frequency plasma-enhanced chemical vapor deposition (RF-PECVD). To investigate the effect of vertical graphene on epoxy, the sandwich structure of copper/vertical graphene-epoxy/copper (Cu/VG-EP/Cu) is fabricated by incorporating epoxy resin. The experimental results demonstrate that the thermal conductivity of VG-EP reaches 2.06 W m-1 K-1 and achieves an impressive 1215% maximum enhancement. Furthermore, the numerical simulation findings show that vertical graphene consistent with the temperature gradient exhibits the highest heat transfer efficiency. This work presents an in-depth study of vertically aligned graphene within the epoxy resin, highlighting the advantages of vertically aligned fillers and offering novel perspectives for the advancement of TIMs.

Introduction: Chronic pain is a common and problematic consequence of injuries with few proven methods for prevention or treatment. In addition to pain, functional limitations and neuropsychiatric changes such as cognitive impairment and anxiety worsen outcomes. Objectives: To determine whether inhibiting activation of the adaptive immune response after limb fracture would reduce pain, functional loss, memory changes, and anxiety. Methods: These experiments used a murine tibial fracture/cast immobilization model that develops these adverse outcomes. Adaptive immunity was blocked using the immunosuppressant FK506 beginning at the time of fracture. Results: The administration of FK506 reduced mechanical allodynia and hind limb unweighting for weeks after cast removal as well as nonevoked pain measures. Fracture was associated with working memory loss in the Y-maze assay in vehicle- but not FK506-treated mice. Object recognition memory was not improved with FK506 after fracture. Also, vehicle- but not FK506-treated mice developed an anxiety phenotype. Impaired running wheel performance after cast removal over the following 2 weeks was not improved with FK506 administration. In addition, FK506 treatment blocked Immunoglobulin M (IgM) accumulation in the skin of the fractured limbs, and hippocampal enhancement of matrix metalloproteinase-8 expression, a metalloproteinase associated with neuroplastic changes after injuries, was completely blocked. Conclusion: Taken together, our results show that blocking the adaptive immune response after limb trauma reduces the severity of nociceptive and biological changes. The same treatment may reduce the adverse consequences of anxiety and memory deficits using some measures, but other measures of memory are not affected, and activity is not enhanced.

OBJECTIVE: To compare therapeutic outcomes of predicted proliferative and nonproliferative hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) after microwave ablation (MWA) using a previously developed imaging-based predictive model, the SMARS score. METHODS: This multicenter retrospective study included consecutive 635 patients with unresectable HCC who underwent MWA between August 2013 and September 2020. Patients were stratified into predicted proliferative and nonproliferative phenotypes according to the SMARS score. Overall survival (OS) and recurrence-free survival (RFS) were compared between the predicted proliferative and nonproliferative HCCs before and after propensity score matching (PSM). OS and RFS were also compared between the two groups in subgroups of tumor size smaller than 30 mm and tumor size 30-50 mm. RESULTS: The SMARS score classified 127 and 508 patients into predicted proliferative and nonproliferative HCCs, respectively. The predicted proliferative HCCs exhibited worse RFS but equivalent OS when compared with nonproliferative HCCs before (p < 0.001 for RFS; p = 0.166 for OS) and after (p < 0.001 for RFS; p = 0.456 for OS) matching. Regarding subgroups of tumor size smaller than 30 mm (p = 0.098) and tumor size 30-50 mm (p = 0.680), the OSs were similar between the two groups. However, predicted proliferative HCCs had worse RFS compared to nonproliferative HCCs in the subgroup of tumor size 30-50 mm (p < 0.001), while the RFS did not differ in the subgroup of tumor size smaller than 30 mm (p = 0.141). CONCLUSION: Predicted proliferative HCCs have worse RFS than nonproliferative ones after MWA, especially in tumor size larger than 30 mm. However, the phenotype of the tumor may not affect the OS. CRITICAL RELEVANCE STATEMENT: Before performing microwave ablation for hepatocellular carcinoma, the tumor phenotype should be considered because it may affect the therapeutic outcome. KEY POINTS: Proliferative hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) may be identified using the SMARS score, an imaging-based predictive model. SMARS predicted proliferative HCCs have worse recurrence-free and equivalent overall survival compared to nonproliferative HCC after microwave ablation. Tumor phenotype should be considered before performing microwave ablation.

Patients with tissue inflammation or injury often experience aberrant mechanical pain hypersensitivity, one of leading symptoms in clinic. Despite this, the molecular mechanisms underlying mechanical distortion are poorly understood. Canonical transient receptor potential (TRPC) channels confer sensitivity to mechanical stimulation. TRPC3 and TRPC6 proteins, coassembling as heterotetrameric channels, are highly expressed in sensory neurons. However, how these channels mediate mechanical pain hypersensitivity has remained elusive. It is shown that in mice and human, TRPC3 and TRPC6 are upregulated in DRG and spinal dorsal horn under pathological states. Double knockout of TRPC3/6 blunts mechanical pain hypersensitivity, largely by decreasing nociceptor hyperexcitability and spinal synaptic potentiation via presynaptic mechanism. In corroboration with this, nociceptor-specific ablation of TRPC3/6 produces comparable pain relief. Mechanistic analysis reveals that upon peripheral inflammation, TRPC3/6 in primary sensory neurons get recruited via released bradykinin acting on B1/B2 receptors, facilitating BDNF secretion from spinal nociceptor terminals, which in turn potentiates synaptic transmission through TRPC3/6 and eventually results in mechanical pain hypersensitivity. Antagonizing TRPC3/6 in DRG relieves mechanical pain hypersensitivity in mice and nociceptor hyperexcitability in human. Thus, TRPC3/6 in nociceptors is crucially involved in pain plasticity and constitutes a promising therapeutic target against mechanical pain hypersensitivity with minor side effects.

BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES: The common tendinous ring (CTR), also known as the common annular tendon or annulus of Zinn, is a critical anatomic structure located at the convergence of the orbital apex, superior orbital fissure (SOF), optic canal, and the anterior aspect of the lateral sellar compartment. It plays a vital role in both neurosurgical and neuro-ophthalmological interventions. The aim of this study was to delineate the complex 3-dimensional (3D) topography of the CTR and explore its implications for surgical procedures. METHODS: Ten formalin-fixed skull base specimens from adult Chinese cadavers were meticulously dissected to investigate the morphology of the CTR, focusing particularly on its relationship with the 4 extraocular rectus tendons, the optic strut, the SOF, and the optic canal. Additional skull base specimens were subjected to 3D surface scanning, computed tomography, and histopathological examinations to deepen our understanding of the CTR's structural complexities. RESULTS: The CTR establishes a spatial, 3D tendinous assembly, encompassing 4 rectus tendons, 2 tendinous connections, and a singular common tendinous root. These components interlink to form a distinctive dual-ring configuration, featuring the optic foramen and the oculomotor foramen. The posterior part of the superior rectus tendon demarcates the common boundary between these 2 foramina. The oculomotor foramen itself serves as the central sector of the SOF. Precise incisions of the medial and lateral tendinous connections and fusions are essential for safely opening the CTR. CONCLUSION: The structural composition, interconnections, and dual-ring configuration of the CTR are crucial for precise and safe surgery of orbital apex and adjacent regions.

The burgeoning field of frustrated Lewis pair (FLP) heterogeneous catalysts has garnered significant interest in recent years, primarily due to their inherent ability to activate H-source molecules, such as H2, thereby facilitating hydrogenation reactions. However, the application of single metal atom catalysts incorporating FLP sites has been relatively under-explored. In this study, non-precious transition metal atoms were anchored onto a C2N framework with an intrinsic cavity and a defective N-C sheet. Theoretical calculations substantiated energy barriers as low as 0.10 eV for isopropanol activation, thereby positioning these catalysts as highly promising candidates for catalytic transfer hydrogenation of furfural. Electronic structure analyses revealed that the H-O bond breakage in isopropanol molecules was significantly facilitated by the presence of FLP sites within the catalysts. Notably, both Ni-C2N and Ni-N6-C demonstrated exceptional potential as selective catalysts for the hydrogenation of furfural into furfuryl alcohol, exhibiting remarkably low barriers of only 0.65-0.72 eV for the rate-determining steps, which are notably lower than those observed in many traditional catalysts. Theoretical investigations strongly imply that the construction of single atom catalysts with FLP sites could significantly enhance the activity and selectivity for hydrogenation reactions, thus stimulating the experimental synthesis of such catalysts.

BACKGROUND: This study was performed with attempt to explore the clinical value and risk factors of compression supporting screws for the treatment of femoral neck fractures. METHODS: This retrospective analysis enrolled 102 patients with femoral neck fractures who admitted to our hospital from June 2020 to June 2022. Based on different screws during the operation, the participants were allocated into hollow screw group (52 cases, conventional fixation of parallel partial-thread hollow screw) and compression screw group (50 cases, compression screw fixation). RESULT: The incidence of complications (including internal fixation failure, nonunion, a vascular necrosis of the femoral head, shortening of the femoral neck by less than 10 mm, and lateral screw withdrawal, of the affected limb) in the compression screw group were significantly lower than those in the hollow screw group (P < 0.05). Patients enrolled in this study were followed up for 9 to 14 months, with an average follow-up time of (12.09 ± 1.87) months.The pain degree at 3 days, 10 days, and the last follow-up after operation in the compression screw group was evidently lower than that in the hollow screw group (P < 0.05). At the last follow-up, the improvment in hip joint function was more significant in the compression screw group than in the hollow screw group (P < 0.05). Univariate logistic regression analysis showed that the risk factors for complications in the treatment of femoral neck fractures with compression supporting screws were age, Pauwels type III fracture (modified Pauwels classification), and hip joint (≥ 90 points). In addition, the result of multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that the risk factors for complications in the treatment of femoral neck fractures with compression supporting screws were age, Pauwels type III fracture (modified Pauwels classification). CONCLUSION: Our findings demonstrated beneficial outcomes obtained by using compression supporting screw, in terms of effectively enhancing the recovery of patients with femoral neck fracture and reducing the associated complications.

Tert-butylhydroquinone (TBHQ) is easily overused or illegally added to edible oil and attracts a growing concern because of its cytotoxic, liver-damaging, and carcinogenic effects. Thus, a sensitive and intelligent point-of-care testing (iPOCT) method is developed to fulfill the on-site monitoring. This iPOCT method depended on a fluorescent immunochromatographic assay within 15 min. Under optimization, the limit of quantification (LOQ) was calculated as 0.03 µg mL-1. The iPOCT method provided a low limit of detection (LOD) of 0.02 µg mL-1, a wide linear range of 0.03-100 µg mL-1, and great selectivity. Recoveries by the spiking experiments ranged from 97.4% to 103.5% with relative standard deviations (RSDs) of 2.4%-4.9% in soybean, peanut, rapeseed, and corn oil samples. The results showed that the iPOCT method is highly consistent with the high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) method.

In distributed learning systems, robustness threat may arise from two major sources. On the one hand, due to distributional shifts between training data and test data, the trained model could exhibit poor out-of-sample performance. On the other hand, a portion of working nodes might be subject to Byzantine attacks, which could invalidate the learning result. In this article, we propose a new research direction that jointly considers distributional shifts and Byzantine attacks. We illuminate the major challenges in addressing these two issues simultaneously. Accordingly, we design a new algorithm that equips distributed learning with both distributional robustness and Byzantine robustness. Our algorithm is built on recent advances in distributionally robust optimization (DRO) as well as norm-based screening (NBS), a robust aggregation scheme against Byzantine attacks. We provide convergence proofs in three cases of the learning model being nonconvex, convex, and strongly convex for the proposed algorithm, shedding light on its convergence behaviors and endurability against Byzantine attacks. In particular, we deduce that any algorithm employing NBS (including ours) cannot converge when the percentage of Byzantine nodes is [Formula: see text] or higher, instead of [Formula: see text] , which is the common belief in current literature. The experimental results verify our theoretical findings (on the breakpoint of NBS and others) and also demonstrate the effectiveness of our algorithm against both robustness issues, justifying our choice of NBS over other widely used robust aggregation schemes. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first work to address distributional shifts and Byzantine attacks simultaneously.

BACKGROUND: Stromal cell derived factor-1 (SDF-1) plays a pivotal role in the recruitment of stem cells to injured livers. However, the changes of SDF-l in patients with hepatitis B virus (HBV)-related acute-on-chronic liver failure (ACLF) have yet to be elucidated. AIM: To study the SDF-1 changes in patients with HBV-related ACLF. METHODS: 30 patients with HBV-related ACLF, 27 patients with chronic hepatitis B and 20 healthy individuals are involved in our study. The SDF-l mRNA expression in liver tissue was detected by quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction. Immunohistochemical staining was performed to illustrate the expression of SDF-l, CXC receptor 4 (CXCR4) and Ki67. The serum SDF-l concentrations were also detected by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays. RESULTS: The expression of SDF-1 mRNA from ACLF patients was remarkably higher than that from other patients (both P < 0.05). The expression of SDF-l, CXCR4 and Ki67 from ACLF were the highest among the three groups (all P < 0.01). The serum SDF-l levels in ACLF patients were significantly lower than that in other patients (both P < 0.01). Moreover, in ACLF patients, the serum SDF-1 Levels were positively correlated with serum total bilirubin and international normalized ratio. In addition, the serum SDF-l levels in survival were significantly lower compared with the non-survivals (P < 0.05). The area under the curve for the serum SDF-1 level in predicting 28-d mortality was 0.722 (P < 0.05). CONCLUSION: This study provides the SDF-1 changes in patients with HBV-related ACLF. The SDF-1 Level at admission may serve as a promising prognostic marker for predicting short-term prognosis.

Coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10) is an essential medicinal ingredient. In this study, we obtained a high-yielding mutant strain of CoQ10, VK-2-3, by subjecting R. sphaeroides V-0 (V-0) to a 12C6+ heavy ion beam and high-voltage prick electric field treatment. To investigate the mutation mechanism, the complete genomes of VK-2-3 and V-0 were sequenced. Collinearity analysis revealed that the nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide-dependent dehydrogenase (NAD) gene underwent rearrangement in the VK-2-3 genome. The NAD gene was overexpressed and silenced in V-0, and this construct was named RS.NAD and RS.ΔNAD. The results showed that the titers of CoQ10 in the RS.NAD and RS.ΔNAD increased and decreased by 16.00 and 33.92%, respectively, compared to those in V-0, and these differences were significant. Our results revealed the mechanism by which the VK-2-3 CoQ10 yield increases through reverse metabolic engineering, providing insights for genetic breeding and mechanistic analysis.

Carbon-based magnetic nanocomposites as promising lightweight electromagnetic wave (EMW) absorbents are expected to address critical issues caused by electromagnetic pollution. Herein, Fe3O4 nanoparticles embedded into a 3D N-rich porous carbon nanohoneycomb (Fe3O4@NC) were developed via the pyrolysis of an in-situ-polymerized compound of m-phenylenediamine initiated by FeCl2 in the presence of NaCl crystals as templates. Results demonstrate that Fe3O4@NC features highly dispersed Fe3O4 nanoparticles into an ultrahigh specific pyridinic-N doping carbon matrix, resulting in excellent impedance matching characteristics and electromagnetic wave absorbing capability with the biggest effective absorption bandwidth (EAB) of up to 7.1 GHz and the minimum reflective loss (RLmin) of up to -65.5 dB in the thin thickness of 2.5 and 2.3 mm, respectively, which also outperforms the majority of carbon-based absorbers reported. Meanwhile, its high absorption performance is further demonstrated by an ethylene propylene diene monomer wave absorbing patch filled with 8.0 wt % Fe3O4@NC, which can completely shield a 5G signal in a mobile phone. In addition, theory calculation reveals that there is a strongest dx2-Pz orbital hybridization interaction between Fe3O4 clusters and pyridinic-N dopants in the carbon network, compared with other kinds of N dopants, which can not only generate more dipoles of carbon networks but also increase net magnetic moments of Fe3O4, thereby leading to a coupling effect of efficient dielectric and magnetic losses. This work provides new insights into the precise design and synthesis of carbon-based magnetic composites with specific interface interactions and morphological effects for high-efficiency EMW absorption materials.

Previous studies have reported the correlation between gut microbiota (GM), GM-derived metabolites, and various intestinal and extra-intestinal cancers. However, limited studies have investigated the correlation between GM, GM-derived metabolites, and osteosarcoma (OS). This study successfully established a female BALB/c nude mouse model of OS. Mice (n = 14) were divided into the following two groups (n = 7/group): OS group named OG, injected with Saos-2 OS cells; normal control group named NCG, injected with Matrigel. The GM composition and metabolites were characterized using 16S rDNA sequencing and untargeted metabolomics, respectively. Bioinformatics analysis revealed that amino acid metabolism was dysregulated in OS. The abundances of bone metabolism-related genera Alloprevotella, Rikenellaceae_RC9_gut_group, and Muribaculum were correlated with amino acid metabolism, especially histidine metabolism. These findings suggest the correlation between GM, GM-derived metabolites, and OS pathogenesis. Clinical significance: The currently used standard therapeutic strategies for OS, including surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation, are not efficacious. The findings of this study provided novel insights for developing therapeutic, diagnostic, and prognostic strategies for OS.

In recent years, the cargo profiles of extracellular vesicles (EVs), which were inherited from their parent cells, have emerged as a reliable biomarker for liquid biopsy (LB) in disease diagnosis, prognosis, and treatment monitoring. EVs secreted by different cells exhibit distinct characteristics, particularly in terms of disease diagnosis and prediction. However, currently available techniques for the quantitative analysis of EV cargoes, including enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA), cannot specifically identify the cellular origin of EVs, thus seriously affecting the accuracy of EV-based liquid biopsy. In light of this, we here developed ultrabright fluorescent nanosphere (FNs)-based test strips which have the unique capability to specifically assess the levels of PD-L1-positive EVs (PD-L1+ EVs) derived from both tumor cells and immune cells in bodily fluids. The levels of PD-L1+ EV subpopulations in human saliva were quantified using the ultrabright fluorescent nanosphere-based test strips with more convenience and higher efficiency (detection time <30 min). Results demonstrated that the fluorescence intensity of the test line exhibited a good linear relationship respectively with the PD-L1 levels of tumor cell- (R2 = 0.993) and immune cell-derived EVs (R2 = 0.982) in human saliva. By assessing the levels of PD-L1+ EV subpopulations, our test strips hold immense potential for advancing the application of PD-L1+ EV subpopulation-based predictions in tumor diagnosis and prognosis evaluation. In summary, by integrating the benefits of FNs and lateral flow chromatography, we here provide a strategy to accurately measure the cargo levels of EVs originating from diverse cell sources in bodily fluids.

BACKGROUND: Colorectal cancer (CRC) is one of the few cancers for which screening has been associated with better survival and morbidity, but screening uptake has been underexplored in spouses of existing patients with CRC. The objective of this study was to evaluate whether a brief, structured behavioral intervention delivered to spouses of patients with CRC in a colorectal clinical setting could increase fecal immunochemical test (FIT) uptake within 3 months of the study period. METHODS: This study was designed as a block randomized, unblinded, parallel trial conducted in the colorectal outpatient clinics of 2 public tertiary hospitals in Singapore from December 2017 to February 2023. The intervention group received a structured informational pamphlet on CRC screening by the Singapore Ministry of Health and a printed guide with instructions on how to properly use a FIT kit. RESULTS: No significant differences in baseline characteristics were observed between the 2 groups. There was a statistically significant difference (P<.001) in FIT screening uptake between spouses in each group, with 86.2% (n=25) in the intervention group and 38.7% (n=12) in the control group. CONCLUSIONS: Our study demonstrated that a brief, structured behavioral intervention offered to spouses accompanying patients with CRC while they wait for the clinic appointment is useful in increasing FIT screening uptake rates. Colorectal clinics can consider setting aside 10 to 15 minutes to educate accompanying spouses in the future as a complementary avenue to holistically promote CRC prevention, subjected to the resources available in each clinic. The membrane-associated RING-CH 8 protein (MARCH8), a member of the E3 ubiquitin ligase family, has broad-spectrum antiviral activity. However, some viruses hijack MARCH8 to promote virus replication, highlighting its dual role in the viral lifecycle. Most studies on MARCH8 have focused on RNA viruses, leaving its role in DNA viruses largely unexplored. Pseudorabies virus (PRV) is a large DNA virus that poses a potential threat to humans. In this study, we found that MARCH8 inhibited PRV replication at the cell-to-cell fusion stage. Interestingly, our findings proved that MARCH8 blocks gB cleavage by recruiting furin but this activity does not inhibit viral infection in vitro. Furthermore, we confirmed that MARCH8 inhibits cell-to-cell fusion independent of its E3 ubiquitin ligase activity but dependent on the interaction with the cell-to-cell fusion complex (gB, gD, gH, and gL). Finally, we discovered that the distribution of the cell-to-cell fusion complex is significantly altered and trapped within the trans-Golgi network. Overall, our results indicate that human MARCH8 acts as a potent antiviral host factor against PRV via trapping the cell-to-cell fusion complex in the trans-Golgi network.

The membrane-associated RING-CH (MARCH) family of proteins are members of the E3 ubiquitin ligase family and are essential for a variety of biological functions. Currently, MARCH proteins are discovered to execute antiviral functions by directly triggering viral protein degradation or blocking the furin cleavage of viral class I fusion proteins. Here, we report a novel antiviral mechanism of MARCH1 and MARCH2 (MARCH1/2) in the replication of Pseudorabies virus (PRV), a member of the Herpesviridae family. We discovered MARCH1/2 restrict PRV replication at the cell-to-cell fusion step. Furthermore, MARCH1/2 block gB cleavage, and this is dependent on their E3 ligase activity. Interestingly, the blocking of gB cleavage by MARCH1/2 does not contribute to their antiviral activity in vitro. We discovered that MARCH1/2 are associated with the cell-to-cell fusion complex of gB, gD, gH, and gL and trap these viral proteins in the trans-Golgi network (TGN) rather than degrading them. Overall, we conclude that MARCH1/2 inhibit PRV by trapping the viral cell-to-cell fusion complex in TGN.

RATIONALE: Pulmonary tumor thrombotic microangiopathy (PTTM) is a rare but serious complication in patients with malignancy; its main manifestation includes acute pulmonary hypertension with severe respiratory distress. More than 200 cases have been reported since it was first identified in 1990. PTTM accounts for approximately 0.9% to 3.3% of deaths due to malignancy, but only a minority of patients are diagnosed ante-mortem, with most patients having a definitive diagnosis after autopsy. PATIENT CONCERNS: Two middle-aged women both died within a short period of time due to progressive dyspnea and severe pulmonary hypertension. DIAGNOSES: One patient was definitively confirmed as a gastrointestinal malignant tumor by liver puncture biopsy pathology. Ultimately, the clinical diagnosis was pulmonary tumor thrombotic microangiopathy. INTERVENTIONS: The patient was treated symptomatically with oxygen, diuresis, and anticoagulation, while a liver puncture was perfected to clarify the cause. OUTCOMES: Two cases of middle-aged female patients with rapidly progressive pulmonary hypertension and respiratory failure resulted in death with malignant neoplasm. LESSONS: PTTM has a rapid onset and a high morbidity and mortality rate. Our clinicians need to be more aware of the need for timely diagnosis through a targeted clinical approach, leading to more targeted treatment and a better prognosis.
