RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Poultry processing generates a large amount of industrial waste, which is rich in collagen content. This waste can be utilized for the extraction of valuable components such as gelatin, which can be used as an alternative to mammalian gelatin (porcine and bovine). RESULTS: Gelatins were analyzed for their yield, proximate analysis, pH, color, viscosity, bloom strength, and texture profile analysis. The yield of broiler chicken feet gelatin (BCFG) was slightly higher (7.93%) as compared to native chicken feet gelatin (NCFG) (7.06%). The protein content was 85.92% and 82.53% for BCFG and NCFG. Both gelatin had moisture content in the standard range (< 15) as given by Gelatin Manufacturers of Europe (GME). Both gelatins showed higher bloom strength (326 g for NCFG and 203 g for BCFG) at 6.67% gelatin concentration, classified as high bloom. Fourier-transform infrared (FTIR) analysis showed amide I, amide A, amide B at 1636 cm-1, 3302 cm-1, 2945 cm-1 for NCFG and 1738 cm-1, 3292 cm-1, 2920 cm-1 for BCFG. At 6.67% gelatin concentration, hardness and cohesiveness values were also higher than commercial gelatin previously studied. The pH values for NCFG were 5.43 and BCFG was 5.31. Both NCFG and BCFG viscosities (4.43 and 3.85 cP) were in the optimum range of commercial gelatins (2-7 cP). CONCLUSION: Hence, the present study concluded that both NCFG and BCFG have a huge potential to replace commercial mammalian gelatins (porcine and bovine) in the food industries. However further studies should be done to optimize the extraction process. © 2024 Society of Chemical Industry.

RESUMO

The impact of functionality of biochar on pressing environmental issue of cadmium (Cd) and lead (Pb) co-contamination in simultaneous soil and water systems has not sufficiently reported. This study investigated the impact of Fe- and Mg-functionalized wheat straw biochar (Fe-WSBC and Mg-WSBC) on Cd and Pb adsorption/immobilization through batch sorption and column leaching trials. Importantly, Fe-WSBC was more effective in adsorbing Cd and Pb (82.84 and 111.24 mg g-1), regeneration ability (removal efficiency 94.32 and 92.365), and competitive ability under competing cations (83.15 and 84.36%) compared to other materials (WSBC and Mg-WSBC). The practical feasibility of Fe-WSBC for spiked river water verified the 92.57% removal of Cd and 85.73% for Pb in 50 mg L-1 and 100 mg L-1 contamination, respectively. Besides, the leaching of Cd and Pb with Fe-WSBC under flow-through conditions was lowered to (0.326 and 17.62 mg L-1), respectively as compared to control (CK) (0.836 and 40.40 mg L-1). In short, this study presents the applicable approach for simultaneous remediation of contaminated water and soil matrices, offering insights into environmentally friendly green remediation strategies for heavy metals co-contaminated matrices.

RESUMO

Anaerobic digestion (AD) is commonly used in food waste treatment. Prokaryotic microbial communities in AD of food waste have been comprehensively studied. The role of viruses, known to affect microbial dynamics and metabolism, remains largely unexplored. This study employed metagenomic analysis and recovered 967 high-quality viral bins within food waste and digestate derived from 8 full-scale biogas plants. The diversity of viral communities was higher in digestate. In silico predictions linked 20.8% of viruses to microbial host populations, highlighting possible virus predators of key functional microbes. Lineage-specific virus-host ratio varied, indicating that viral infection dynamics might differentially affect microbial responses to the varying process parameters. Evidence for virus-mediated gene transfer was identified, emphasizing the potential role of viruses in controlling the microbiome. AD altered the specific process parameters, potentially promoting a shift in viral lifestyle from lysogenic to lytic. Viruses encoding auxiliary metabolic genes (AMGs) were involved in microbial carbon and nutrient cycling, and most AMGs were transcriptionally expressed in digestate, meaning that viruses with active functional states were likely actively involved in AD. These findings provided a comprehensive profile of viral and bacterial communities and expanded knowledge of the interactions between viruses and hosts in food waste and digestate.

RESUMO

This work presents a radio frequency identification (RFID)-based technique to detect falls in the elderly. The proposed RFID-based approach offers a practical and efficient alternative to wearables, which can be uncomfortable to wear and may negatively impact user experience. The system utilises strategically positioned passive ultra-high frequency (UHF) tag array, enabling unobtrusive monitoring of elderly individuals. This contactless solution queries battery-less tag and processes the received signal strength indicator (RSSI) and phase data. Leveraging the powerful data-fitting capabilities of a transformer model to take raw RSSI and phase data as input with minimal preprocessing, combined with data fusion, it significantly improves activity recognition and fall detection accuracy, achieving an average rate exceeding 96.5 % . This performance surpasses existing methods such as convolutional neural network (CNN), recurrent neural network (RNN), and long short-term memory (LSTM), demonstrating its reliability and potential for practical implementation. Additionally, the system maintains good accuracy beyond a 3-m range using minimal battery-less UHF tags and a single antenna, enhancing its practicality and cost-effectiveness.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND INFORMATION: Over 1.6 million Nigerians have succumbed to the ravaging scourge of the acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS) epidemic since its discovery. Viral suppression (VS) then becomes a critical cost-effective human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) prevention strategy. We assessed the prevalence and predictors of VS. MATERIALS AND METHODS: This retrospective case file review was conducted among adults (aged ≥18 years) living with HIV/AIDS who accessed care at a tertiary health facility in Northwestern Nigeria between January and December 2021. RESULTS: One thousand one hundred and twenty HIV/AIDS-eligible patients accessed care during the study. Their age ranged between 20 and 70 years with a mean of 43.83 ± 10.83 (95% confidence interval [CI]: 43.19-44.46). The patients were mostly female (728; 65.0), residing in urban areas (680; 60.7%), self-employed (440; 39.3%), married (712; 63.6%), receiving antiretroviral therapy (ART) for at most 14 years (916; 81.8%), on first-line ART regimen (812; 72.5%), in HIV clinical stage 1 (964; 86.1%), and with a baseline CD4 count of 199 cells/µl (453; 40.4%). The prevalence of VS of 64.3% (720/1120) was recorded in the study. The predictors of VS were disclosure of HIV status (odds ratio [OR] =2.4; 95% CI = 1.503-3.832), absence of opportunistic infections (OR = 2.6; 95% CI = 1.242-5.406), receiving ART for 15-29 years (OR = 2.1; 95% CI = 1.398-3.292), first-line ART regimen (OR = 3.7; 95% CI = 2.618-5.115), and adequate adherence (OR = 4.7; 95% CI = 3.324-6.766). CONCLUSION: VS was suboptimal among the study cohort with adequate adherence being its strongest predictor.

RESUMO

The objective was to evaluate the effects of replacing inorganic trace minerals (ITM) with reduced levels of organic trace minerals (OTM) in proteinate forms and selenium yeast in the mineral premix of prepartal and lactating dairy goats on lactation performance, milk fatty acid (FA) composition, nutrient digestibility and antioxidant status. Xinong Saanen dairy goats (n = 40) were blocked by parity and body weight, and randomly assigned to either ITM or OTM treatments from 4 wk prepartum through 8 mo of lactation. Both groups received the same basal diet except for the trace mineral supplement. The ITM supplement included Fe, Cu, Zn, and Mn as sulfates, and Se as selenite to meet the recommendations. The OTM supplement included Fe, Cu, Zn, and Mn as proteinates at 50% of ITM supplement levels, and Se as Se-yeast at 100% of ITM supplement level. Sampling and measurements were performed in the 1st, 2nd, 4th, and 8th mo of lactation. Data were summarized by month and treatment, and analyzed using the Mixed Model of SPSS with repeated measures. OTM group showed lower milk fat (P = 0.02) and higher milk Se (P = 0.03) with no compromised effects on milk yield and milk protein compared to ITM group. Furthermore, OTM decreased the content of C6:0, C8:0, C10:0 (P < 0.05) and increased the content of odd- and branched-chain FAs (OBCFA) in milk fat due to greater content of C15:0 (P = 0.01) and anteiso C15:0 (P = 0.07). OTM led to greater total-tract digestibility of DM (P = 0.03), CP (P = 0.07), EE (P = 0.03) and ADF (P = 0.05). OTM goats showed less fecal excretion of Fe (P = 0.01), Cu (P < 0.01), and Zn (P = 0.08) compared to ITM goats. There was a tendency for greater serum GSH-Px activity (P = 0.09) with OTM. Overall, the long-term subsitution of reduced levels of OTM for ITM can change milk fat and fatty acid composition while maintaining milk yield, digestibility and antioxidant status.

RESUMO

This study investigates soil washing as a viable strategy to remove poly- and perfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) from contaminated soils using various washing agents including water, methanol, ethanol, and cyclodextrin ((2-Hydroxypropyl)-ß-cyclodextrin HPCD)). Water was less effective (removing only 30 % of PFAS), especially for long-chain hydrophobic PFAS. Methanol (50 % v/v) or HPCD (10 mg g-1 soil) achieved > 95 % PFAS removal regardless of PFAS type, soil size fraction (0-400 µm or 400-800 µm), or experimental setups (batch or column, at liquid/solid (L/S) = 1). Column optimization studies revealed improved efficiency at L/S = 10 with diluted washing solutions, where HPCD exhibited rapid PFAS mobilization even at lower concentrations (1 mg mL-1). We then applied a first-order decay model to effectively predict PFAS breakthrough curves and mobilization within soil columns. Subsequent treatment of wash effluents by activated carbon and biochar effectively reduced PFAS concentrations below detection limits. The performance of both soil washing and subsequent adsorption was found to depend strongly on the specific characteristics of PFAS compounds. These findings highlight the significant potential of methanol and HPCD in soil washing and the effectiveness of integrated soil washing and adsorption for optimizing PFAS removal.

RESUMO

An electrocardiogram is a medical examination tool for measuring different patterns of heart blood flow circle either in the form of usual or non-invasive patterns. These patterns are useful for the identification of morbidity condition of the heart especially in certain conditions of heart abnormality and arrhythmia. Myocardial infarction (MI) is one of them that happened due to sudden blockage of blood by the cause of malfunction of heart. In electrocardiography (ECG) intensity of MI is highlighted on the basis of unusual patterns of T wave changes. Various studies have contributed for MI through T wave's classification, but more to the point of T wave has always attracted the ECG researchers. Methodology. This Study is primarily designed for proposing the combination of latest methods that are worked for the solutions of pre-defined research questions. Such solutions are designed in the form of the systematic review process (SLR) by following the Kitchen ham guidance. The literature survey is a two phase's process, at first phase collect the articles that were published in IEEE Xplore, Scopus, science direct and Springer from 2008 to 2023. It consist of steps; the first level is executed by filtrating the articles on the basis of keyword phase of title and abstract filter. Similarly, at two level the manuscripts are scanned through filter of eligibility criteria of articles selection. The last level belongs to the quality assessment of articles, in such level articles are rectified through evaluation of domain experts. Results. Finally, the selected articles are addressed with research questions and briefly discuss these selected state-of-the-art methods that are worked for the T wave classification. These address units behave as solutions to research problems that are highlighted in the form of research questions. Conclusion and future directions. During the survey process for these solutions, we got some critical observations in the form of gaps that reflected the other directions for researchers. In which feature engineering, different dependencies of ECG features and dimensional reduction of ECG for the better ECG analysis are reflection of future directions.

RESUMO

Aortic dissection (AD) is a catastrophic life-threatening cardiovascular emergency with a 1-2% per hour mortality rate post-diagnosis, characterized physiologically by the separation of aortic wall layers. AD initially presents as intense pain that can then radiate to the back, arms, neck, or jaw along with neurological deficits like difficulty in speaking, and unilateral weakness in some patients. This spectrum of clinical features associated with AD is often confused with acute myocardial infarction, hence leading to a delay in AD diagnosis. Cardiac and vascular biomarkers are structural proteins and microRNAs circulating in the bloodstream that correlate to tissue damage and their levels become detectable even before symptom onset. Timely diagnosis of AD using biomarkers, in combination with advanced imaging diagnostics, will significantly improve prognosis by allowing earlier vascular interventions. This comprehensive review aims to investigate emerging biomarkers in the diagnosis of AD, as well as provide future directives for creating advanced diagnostic tools and imaging techniques.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: Formulate a gel and test its scientific efficacy for treating musculoskeletal ailments with or without phonophoresis. METHODS: Gel was made from Jasminum sambac leaf extract (30:70 aqueous-methanolic). A pragmatic, community-based, double-blinded randomized clinical study (IRCT20230202057310N1) was undertaken on 380 pre-diagnosed individuals with 1st and 2nd-grade musculoskeletal injuries, divided into four parallel groups (n = 95 per group): Group I got phonophoresis-applied J. sambac 10% gel. Group II got phonophoresis-applied diclofenac diethylammonium 2% gel. J. sambac 10% gel was superficially massaged onto Group III. Group IV received a superficial massage with diclofenac diethylammonium 2% gel. Color, stability, pH, spreadability, beginning of pain relief, discomfort, stiffness, and activities of daily living were recorded using the Numeric Pain Rating Scale (NPRS) and Western Ontario and McMaster Universities Arthritis Index (WOMAC) Scale. Methods included phytochemical analysis, molecular docking, and antioxidant quantification using 2,2-diphenylpicrylhydrazyl (DPPH), nitric oxide (NO), and superoxide dismutase (SOD) tests. RESULTS: J. sambac gel worked better than diclofenac gel in phonophoresis and massage, with regard to NPRS P<0.001, WOMAC pain P<0.001, WOMAC stiffness P<0.003, and WOMAC activities of daily living (ADLs) P<0.001. There were also significant differences in pain, stiffness, and ADLs. J. sambac showed significant (P<0.005-0.001) results. CONCLUSION: J. sambac gel relieved pain and inflammation in musculoskeletal injury patients. J. sambac gel is natural, cheap, and easy to make. Better drug absorption may explain the effectiveness of phonophoresis.

RESUMO

Peri-urban environments are significant reservoirs of wastewater, and releasing this untreated wastewater from these resources poses severe environmental and ecological threats. Wastewater mitigation through sustainable approaches is an emerging area of interest. Algae offers a promising strategy for carbon-neutral valorization and recycling of urban wastewater. Aiming to provide a proof-of-concept for complete valorization and recycling of urban wastewater in a peri-urban environment in a closed loop system, a newly isolated biocrust-forming cyanobacterium Desertifilum tharense BERC-3 was evaluated. Here, the highest growth and lipids productivity were achieved in urban wastewater compared to BG11 and synthetic wastewater. D. tharense BERC-3 showed 60-95% resource recovery efficiency and decreased total dissolved solids, chemical oxygen demand, biological oxygen demand, nitrate nitrogen, ammonia nitrogen and total phosphorus contents of the water by 60.37%, 81.11%, 82.75%, 87.91%, 85.13%, 85.41%, 95.87%, respectively, making it fit for agriculture as per WHO's safety limits. Soil supplementation with 2% wastewater-cultivated algae as a soil amender, along with its irrigation with post-treated wastewater, improved the nitrogen content and microbial activity of the soil by 0.3-2.0-fold and 0.5-fold, respectively. Besides, the availability of phosphorus was also improved by 1.66-fold. The complete bioprocessing pipeline offered a complete biomass utilization. This study demonstrated the first proof-of-concept of integrating resource recovery and resource recycling using cyanobacteria to develop a peri-urban algae farming system. This can lead to establishing wastewater-driven algae cultivation systems as novel enterprises for rural migrants moving to urban areas.

RESUMO

The contamination of paddy fields by cadmium and lead is a major issue in China. The consumption of rice grown in heavy metals contaminated areas poses severe health risks to humans, where bioavailability and bioaccessibility remains the critical factor for risk determination. Selenium nanoparticles (Se-NPs) can mitigate the toxicity of heavy metals in plants. However, there exists limited information regarding the role of Se-NPs in dictating cadmium (Cd) toxicity in rice for human consumption. Moreover, the impact of Se-NPs under simultaneous field and laboratory controlled conditions is rarely documented. To address this knowledge gap, a field experiment was conducted followed by laboratory scale bioavailability assays. Foliar application of Se-NPs and selenite (at 5, 10 mg L-1) was performed to assess their efficiency in lowering Cd accumulation, promoting Se biofortification in rice grains, and evaluating Cd exposure risk from contaminated rice. Obtained results indicate that foliar treatments significantly reduced the heavy metal accumulation in rice grains. Specifically, Se-NP 10 mg L-1 demonstrated higher efficiency, reducing Cd and Pb by 56 and 32 % respectively. However, inconsistent trends for bioavailable Cd (0.03 mg kg-1) and bioaccessible (0.04 mg kg-1) were observed while simulated human rice intake. Furthermore, the foliage application of Se-NPs and selenite improved rice quality by elevating Se, Zn, Fe, and protein levels, while lowering phytic acid content in rice grains. In summary, this study suggests the promising potential of foliage spraying of Se-NPs in lowering the health risks associated with consuming Cd-contaminated rice.

RESUMO

For the first-time, chemical composition and in vitro antitumor activity was investigated of a newly described lichen Anamylopsora pakistanica Usman & Khalid from the second highest plateau of the world (Deosai Plains, Pakistan). HPLC-UV method was used for identification of secondary metabolites and the acetone extract had higher values of TPC (41.90 mg GA/g) and TFC (75.37 mg RE/g) as compared to methanol extract. As chemical constituents 5,7-dihydroxy-6-methylphthalide, haematommic acid and alectorialic acid, were identified as major compounds. Atranol, alectorialin, gyrophoric acid and usnic acid were detected as minor substances. Acetone and methanol extracts induced a dose-dependent and time-dependent decrease in the viability of three types of tumour cells HeLa, HCT116 and MDA-MB-231. This lichen extract can induce S phase arrest in HeLa as compared to the untreated cells. Extract of this unique lichen, A. pakistanica, can be used safely as a significant source of biologically active compounds.

RESUMO

The roll coating method is of considerable significance in several industries, as it is applied practically in the production of paint, the manufacturing of PVC-coated cloth, and the plastic industry. The current study theoretically and computationally analyses the Powell-Eyring fluids with variable viscosity during the non-isothermal roll-over web phenomenon. Based on the lubrication approximation theory (LAT), the problem was formulated. The system of partial differential equations (PDEs) obtained from the mathematical modeling was further simplified to a set of ordinary differential equations (ODEs) using suitable transformations. A regular perturbation method was implemented to obtain the solution in terms of velocity, pressure gradient, pressure, and flow rate per unit width. This study also captures important engineering characteristics such as coating thickness, Nusselt number, shear stress, roll/sheet separating force, and roll-transmitted power to the fluid. Along with a comparison between the present work and published work, both graphical and tabular representations wer made to study the effects of various factors. It was observed that the velocity profile is the decreasing function of non-Newtonian and Reynold viscosity parameters. In addition, the response surface methodology (RSM) was employed to investigate the sensitivity of the shear stress and the Nusselt number.

RESUMO

Globally, Group A rotavirus (RVA) is the leading cause of acute gastroenteritis in children under 5 years old, with Pakistan having the highest rates of RVA-related morbidity and mortality. The current study aims to determine the genetic diversity of rotavirus and evaluate the impact of Rotarix-vaccine introduction on disease epidemiology in Pakistan. A total of 4749 children, hospitalized with acute gastroenteritis between 2018 and 2020, were tested at four hospitals in Lahore and Karachi. Of the total, 19.3% (918/4749) cases were tested positive for RVA antigen, with the positivity rate varying annually (2018 = 22.7%, 2019 = 14.4%, 2020 = 20.9%). Among RVA-positive children, 66.3% were under 1 year of age. Genotyping of 662 enzyme-linked immuno sorbent assay-positive samples revealed the predominant genotype as G9P[4] (21.4%), followed by G1P[8] (18.9%), G3P[8] (11.4%), G12P[6] (8.7%), G2P[4] (5.7%), G2P[6] (4.8%), and 10.8% had mixed genotypes. Among vaccinated children, genotypes G9P[4] and G12P[6] were more frequently detected, whereas a decline in G2P[4] was observed. Phylogenetic analysis confirmed the continued circulation of indigenous genotypes detected earlier in the country except G9 and P[6] strains. Our findings highlight the predominance of G9P[4] genotype after the vaccine introduction thus emphasizing continual surveillance to monitor the disease burden, viral diversity, and their impact on control of rotavirus gastroenteritis in children.

RESUMO

The utilization of antibiotics is prevalent among lactating mothers. Hence, the rapid determination of trace amounts of antibiotics in human milk is crucial for ensuring the healthy development of infants. In this study, we constructed a human milk system containing residual doxycycline (DXC) and/or tetracycline (TC). Machine learning models and clustering algorithms were applied to classify and predict deficient concentrations of single and mixed antibiotics via label-free SERS spectra. The experimental results demonstrate that the CNN model has a recognition accuracy of 98.85% across optimal hyperparameter combinations. Furthermore, we employed Independent Component Analysis (ICA) and the pseudo-Siamese Convolutional Neural Network (pSCNN) to quantify the ratios of individual antibiotics in mixed human milk samples. Integrating the SERS technique with machine learning algorithms shows significant potential for rapid discrimination and precise quantification of single and mixed antibiotics at deficient concentrations in human milk.

RESUMO

Biochar is a carbon-rich material produced from the partial combustion of different biomass residues. It can be used as a promising material for adsorbing pollutants from soil and water and promoting environmental sustainability. Extensive research has been conducted on biochars prepared from different feedstocks used for pollutant removal. However, a comprehensive review of biochar derived from non-woody feedstocks (NWF) and its physiochemical attributes, adsorption capacities, and performance in removing heavy metals, antibiotics, and organic pollutants from water systems needs to be included. This review revealed that the biochars derived from NWF and their adsorption efficiency varied greatly according to pyrolysis temperatures. However, biochars (NWF) pyrolyzed at higher temperatures (400-800 °C) manifested excellent physiochemical and structural attributes as well as significant removal effectiveness against antibiotics, heavy metals, and organic compounds from contaminated water. This review further highlighted why biochars prepared from NWF are most valuable/beneficial for water treatment. What preparatory conditions (pyrolysis temperature, residence time, heating rate, and gas flow rate) are necessary to design a desirable biochar containing superior physiochemical and structural properties, and adsorption efficiency for aquatic pollutants? The findings of this review will provide new research directions in the field of water decontamination through the application of NWF-derived adsorbents.

RESUMO

Despite the widespread usage to safeguard crops and manage pests, pesticides have detrimental effects on the environment and human health. The necessity to find sustainable agricultural techniques and meet the growing demand for food production has spurred the quest for pesticide substitutes other than traditional ones. The unique qualities of nanotechnology, including its high surface area-to-volume ratio, controlled release, and better stability, have made it a promising choice for pest management. Over the past ten years, there has been a noticeable growth in the usage of nanomaterials for pest management; however, concerns about their possible effects on the environment and human health have also surfaced. The purpose of this review paper is to give a broad overview of the worldwide trends and environmental effects of using nanomaterials in place of pesticides. The various types of nanomaterials, their characteristics, and their possible application in crop protection are covered. The limits of the current regulatory frameworks for nanomaterials in agriculture are further highlighted in this review. Additionally, it describes how standard testing procedures must be followed to assess the effects of nanomaterials on the environment and human health before their commercialization. In order to establish sustainable and secure nanotechnology-based pest control techniques, the review concludes by highlighting the significance of taking into account the possible hazards and benefits of nanomaterials for pest management and the necessity of an integrated approach. It also emphasizes the importance of more investigation into the behavior and environmental fate of nanomaterials to guarantee their safe and efficient application in agriculture.

RESUMO

The structural, mechanical, vibrational, electronic, optical, SLME, thermoelectric, and thermodynamic properties of X2GaAgCl6 (X = Cs, Rb), a double perovskite material, were computed by employing Density Functional Theory (DFT). CASTEP and Quantum ESPRESSO were used to perform first-principles calculations. X2GaAgCl6 possesses a cubic structure with the space-group symmetry Fm-3 m. The lattice parameters of Cs2GaAgCl6 and Rb2GaAgCl6 were optimized using the energy-volume curves, resulting in values of 7.357 Å and 7.365 Å, respectively. The population analysis confirmed the charge transfer among transition metals and halogen atoms. The stability of crystal X2GaAgCl6 (X = Cs, Rb) is effectively demonstrated by analyzing phonon dispersion curves with no negative frequencies. The band structure calculations indicated the semiconducting nature of compounds with energy gaps of 0.96 eV and 0.88 eV for Cs2GaAgCl6 and Rb2GaAgCl6, respectively. The optical characteristics results confirm that the examined materials are suitable for devices working, primarily in the electromagnetic spectrum's visible region. SLME results showed that Cs2GaAgCl6 has 30% and Rb2GaAgCl6 has 27% efficiency, respectively, suggesting their use in photovoltaics. The thermoelectric properties of X2GaAgCl6 (X = Cs, Rb) were calculated by using the BoltzTraP code in the temperature range of 300 to 800 K. The quasi-harmonic Debye model was applied to calculate the thermodynamic characteristics.
