RESUMO

This study assessed breed differences in fatty acid composition and meat quality of Longissimus thoracis et lumborum (LTL) and semitendinosus (SE) of Angus× Chinese Simmental (AS), Wagyu×Chinese Simmental (WS), and Chinese Simmental (CS). CS (n=9), AS (n=9) and WS (n=9) were randomly selected from a herd of 80 bulls which were fed and managed under similar conditions. Fatty acid profile and meat quality parameters were analyzed in duplicate. Significant breed difference was observed in fatty acid and meat quality profiles. AS exhibited significantly (p<0.05) lower C16:0 and higher C18:1n9c compared with CS. AS breed also had a tendency (p<0.10) to lower total saturated fatty acid (SFA), improve C18:3n3 and total unsaturated fatty acid (UFA) compared with CS. Crossbreed of AS and WS had significantly (p<0.05) improved the lightness, redness, and yellowness of muscles, and lowered cooking loss, pressing loss, and shear force compared with CS. These results indicated that fatty acid composition and meat quality generally differed among breeds, although the differences were not always similar in different tissues. Fatty acid composition, meat color, water holding capacity, and tenderness favored AS over CS. Thus, Angus cattle might be used to improve fatty acid and meat quality profiles of CS, and AS might contain better nutritive value, organoleptic properties, and flavor, and could be potentially developed as an ideal commercial crossbreed.

RESUMO

The wool and cashmere samples (n = 130) from different areas of Gansu province were identified by visible and near-infrared reflectance spectroscopy (Vis/NIRs). The result shows that principal component-mahalanobis distance pattern can identify the wool and cashmere, and the boundary between two categories was clear; The calibration set samples were used to establish calibration qualitative model using PCR combined with the best pretreatment of the spectra and math, including multivariate scattering correction (MSC), first derivative, eight for the best principal component factor, one for uncertainty factor, this calibration model of the predicted was the best, and the result of the external validation was correct completely. Results from this experiment indicate that Vis/NIRs can be utilized to identify the wool and cashmere.

RESUMO

The present study aims to evaluate the anthelmintic properties of aerial part of Macleaya microcarpa (Maxim) Fedde. Bioassay-guided fractionation and isolation of the compounds with anthelmintic activity were performed on the ethanolic extract of M. microcarpa yielding five bioactive alkaloids namely: sanguinarine, cryptopine, beta-allocryptopine, protopine and 6-methoxyl-dihydro-chelerythrine by comparing spectral data (UV, NMR, and EI-MS) with literature values. According to in vivo anthelmintic assays, they were found to be 100% effective at the concentrations of 0.7, 8.0, 8.0, 16.0 and 7.0 mgl(-1), and the median effective concentration (EC(50)) values for the five compounds were 0.37, 3.31, 4.64, 8.13 and 3.63 mgl(-1), respectively. Additionally, the acute toxicity on goldfish for the five active compounds was also investigated with median lethal concentrations (LC(50)) values of 1.13, 16.12, 15.88, 21.69 and 10.91 mgl(-1), respectively. The resulting therapeutic indices for sanguinarine, cryptopine, beta-allocryptopine, protopine and 6-methoxyl-dihydro-chelerythrine were 3.03, 4.82, 3.40, 2.66 and 2.99 correspondingly. Correlations analysis between the logP and EC(50), LC(50) of the five alkaloids revealed that the activity of the five alkaloids was well correlated with their hydrophobicity and r(2)=0.45 is for anthelmintic activity while r(2)=0.47 is for acute toxicity for goldfish, respectively. These results provided evidence that the studied plant extract, as well as the isolated compounds, especially sanguinarine, might be potential plant-based medicines for the treatment of D. intermedius infection.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: To study the effect of FA-I, a novel fibrinolytic enzyme isolated from the metabolite of Arthrobacter sp. DR-536, on thrombosis and thrombolysis in vivo. METHODS: The anticoagulated blood model of mise were administered with FA-I orally. The venous thrombogenesis inhibition model of rats were administered with FA-I by intestinal route. The carotid thrombosis model of rabbits were given FA-I intravenously. The clotting time (CT), prothrombin time (PT), activated partial thromboplastin time (APTT), thrombin time (TT), Euglobulin lysis time (ELT), fibrinogen (FIG) and hemorheology condition were analyzed. RESULTS: FA-I prolonged the CT, PT, APTT and TT, and decreased ELT and FIG significantly (P < 0.05 or P < 0.01). FA-I also improved the hemorheology conditions in the rabbits. CONCLUSION: Both intravenous injection and oral administration of FA-I are effective in thrombosis and thrombolysis. FA-I could become a pragmatic venoclysis thrombolytic drug or a peroral thrombolytic drug.
