RESUMO

The ongoing emergence of SARS-CoV-2 variants poses challenges to the immunity induced by infections and vaccination. We conduct a 6-month longitudinal evaluation of antibody binding and neutralization of sera from individuals with six different combinations of vaccination and infection against BA.5, XBB.1.5, EG.5.1, and BA.2.86. We find that most individuals produce spike-binding IgG or neutralizing antibodies against BA.5, XBB.1.5, EG.5.1, and BA.2.86 2 months after infection or vaccination. However, compared to ancestral strain and BA.5 variant, XBB.1.5, EG.5.1, and BA.2.86 exhibit comparable but significant immune evasion. The spike-binding IgG and neutralizing antibody titers decrease in individuals without additional antigen exposure, and <50% of individuals neutralize XBB.1.5, EG.5.1, and BA.2.86 during the 6-month follow-up. Approximately 57% of the 107 followed up individuals experienced an additional infection, leading to improved binding IgG and neutralizing antibody levels against these variants. These findings provide insights into the impact of SARS-CoV-2 variants on immunity following repeated exposure.

RESUMO

Separation of C2H6/C2H4 mixtures is of significant importance in the chemical industry but remains a challenge due to the physicochemical similarities of C2H6 and C2H4. Herein, a metal-organic framework (MOF), [Zn4(µ4-O)(PCTF)3]n (Zn-PCTF) (PCTF2-= 5-trifluoromethyl-1H-pyrazole-4-carboxylic), is provided for the removal of C2H6 from C2H6/C2H4 mixtures. Zn-PCTF displays a three-dimensional framework featuring one-dimensional pore channels with periodic bottleneck segments. The well-balanced C2H6 adsorption capacity (79.0 cm3 g-1 at 298 K) and C2H6/C2H4 selectivity (1.8) for Zn-PCTF under ambient conditions boost Zn-PCTF with highly promising potentials for efficient purification of C2H4 from C2H6/C2H4 mixtures, which is verified by the dynamic column breakthrough experiments. The well-matched caged pores and suitable pore chemistry (particularly the presence of abundant Lewis base sites (N, O, and F) on the pore surfaces) for C2H6 account for the high-performance C2H6/C2H4 separation of Zn-PCTF unveiled by computational simulations.

RESUMO

A highly efficient ratiometric electrochemiluminescence (ECL) immunoassay was explored by bidirectionally regulating the ECL intensity of two luminophors. The immunoassay was conducted in a split-type mode consisting of an ECL detection procedure and a sandwich immunoreaction. The ECL detection was executed using a dual-disk glassy carbon electrode modified with two potential-resolved luminophors (g-C3N4-Ag and Ru-MOF-Ag nanocomposites), and the sandwich immunoreaction using glucose oxidase (GOx)-modified SiO2 nanospheres as labels was carried out in a 96-well plate. The Ag nanoparticles (NPs) acted as bifunctional units both for triggering the resonance energy transfer (RET) with g-C3N4 and for accelerating the electron transfer rate of the Ru-MOF-Ag ECL reaction. When the H2O2 catalyzed by GOx in the 96-well plate was transferred to the dual-disk glass carbon electrode, the doped Ag NPs in the two luminophors could be etched, thus destroying the RET between C3N4 and the accelerated reaction to Ru-MOF, resulting in an opposite trend in the ECL signal outputted from the dual disks. Using the ratio of the two signals for quantification, the constructed immunosensor for a model target, i.e. myoglobin, exhibited a low detection limit of 4.7 × 10-14 g/mL. The ingenious combination of ECL ratiometry, bifunctional Ag NPs, and a split-type strategy effectively reduces environmental and human errors, offering a more precise and sensitive analysis for complex samples.

RESUMO

Adsorption separation of the Xe/Kr mixture remains a tough issue since Xe and Kr have an inert nature and similar sizes. Here we present a chlorinated metal-organic framework (MOF) [JXNU-19(Cl)] and its nonchlorinated analogue (JXNU-19) for Xe/Kr separation. The two isostructural MOFs constructed from the heptanuclear cobalt-hydroxyl clusters bridged by organic ligands are three-dimensional structures. Detailed contrast of the Xe/Kr adsorption separation properties of the MOF shows that significantly enhanced Xe uptakes and Xe/Kr adsorption selectivity (17.1) are observed for JXNU-19 as compared to JXNU-19(Cl). The main binding sites for Xe in the MOF revealed by computational simulations are far away from the chlorine sites, suggesting that the introduction of the chlorine groups results in the unfavorable Xe adsorption for JXNU-19(Cl). The optimal pores, high surface area, and multiple strong Xe-framework interactions facilitate the effective Xe/Kr separation for JXNU-19.

RESUMO

Three pargyline-phosphine copper(I) clusters, [Cu4(CC-C9H12N)3(PPh3)4](PF6) (1) and [Cu6(CC-C9H12N)4(dppy)4](X)2 (dppy = diphenyl-2-pyridylphosphine; X = PF6 for 2 and X = ClO4 for 3), were synthesized. Their structures were fully characterized using various spectroscopic methods and X-ray crystallography, which showed that the stoichiometry and nature of pargyline and phosphine ligands play an important role in tuning the structure and photophysical features of Cu(I) clusters. Interestingly, clusters 1, 2 and 3 exhibited red, orange and yellow phosphorescence with high quantum yields of 88.5%, 22.0% and 40.2%, respectively, at room temperature. Moreover, clusters 1-3 show distinct temperature-dependent emissions. The excellent luminescence performance of 1 and 3 was designed and employed for the construction of monochrome and white light-emitting devices (LEDs).

RESUMO

As one of the interesting signaling mechanisms, the in situ growth reaction on a photoelectrode has proven its powerful potential in photoelectrochemical (PEC) bioanalysis. However, the specific interaction between the signaling species with the photoactive materials limits the general application of the signal mechanism. Herein, on the basis of an in situ growth reaction on a photoelectrode of single-atom-based photoactive material, a general PEC immunoassay was developed in a split-type mode consisting of the immunoreaction and PEC detection procedure. Specifically, a single-atom photoactive material that incorporates Fe atoms into layered Bi4O5I2 (Bi4O5I2-Fe SAs) was used as a photoelectrode for PEC detection. The sandwich immunoreaction was performed in a well of a 96-well plate using Ag nanoparticles (Ag NPs) as signal tracers. In the PEC detection procedure, the Ag+ converted from Ag NPs were transferred onto the surface of the Bi4O5I2-Fe SAs photoelectrode and thereafter AgI was generated on the Bi4O5I2-Fe SAs in situ to form a heterojunction through the reaction of Ag+ with Bi4O5I2-Fe SAs. The formation of heterojunction greatly promoted the electro-hole separation, boosting the photocurrent response. Exemplified by myoglobin (Myo) as the analyte, the immunosensor achieved a wide linear range from 1.0 × 10-11 to 5.0 × 10-8 g mL-1 with a detection limit of 3.5 × 10-12 g mL-1. This strategy provides a general PEC immunoassay for disease-related proteins, as well as extends the application scope of in situ growth reaction in PEC analysis.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: To review the effectiveness of different physical therapies for acute and sub-acute low back pain supported by evidence, and create clinical recommendations and expert consensus for physiotherapists on clinical prescriptions. DATA SOURCES: A systematic search was conducted in PubMed and the Cochrane Library for studies published within the previous 15 years. REVIEW METHODS: Systematic review and meta-analysis, randomized controlled trials assessing patients with acute and sub-acute low back pain were included. Two reviewers independently screened relevant studies using the same inclusion criteria. The Physiotherapy Evidence Database and the Assessment of Multiple Systematic Reviews tool were used to grade the quality assessment of randomized controlled trials and systematic reviews, respectively. The final recommendation grades were based on the consensus discussion results of the Delphi of 22 international experts. RESULTS: Twenty-one systematic reviews and 21 randomized controlled trials were included. Spinal manipulative therapy and low-level laser therapy are recommended for acute low back pain. Core stability exercise/motor control, spinal manipulative therapy, and massage can be used to treat sub-acute low back pain. CONCLUSIONS: The consensus statements provided medical staff with appliable recommendations of physical therapy for acute and sub-acute low back pain. This consensus statement will require regular updates after 5-10 years.

RESUMO

Getah virus (GETV) is a mosquito-transmitted disease that affects animals, causing fever, aseptic meningitis, and abortion. Its prevalence in China poses risks to both animal health and public well-being. Currently, there is a scarcity of seroepidemiological data on GETV due to the absence of commercial antibody detection kits for pigs. The aim of this study is to develop a rapid, accurate, and sensitive ELISA, providing a reliable tool for GETV seroepidemiology and laying the foundation for future commercial assay development. In this study, we removed specific hydrophobic domains and intracellular structures from E2 proteins and constructed the recombinant plasmid pCold-TF-E2. The recombinant protein was expressed using a prokaryotic expression system, and efficient purification of the rE2 protein was achieved using a nickel affinity column. The purified rE2 protein is suitable for the development of an indirect ELISA (rE2 ELISA). Following the optimization of reaction conditions for the rE2-ELISA, the cut-off value was 0.356. Additionally, the rE2-ELISA method showed a positive rate of 37.1% for IgG antibodies against GETV when testing 986 pig clinical serum samples collected from pigs in Sichuan between May 2022 and September 2022. The rE2-ELISA method displayed a 95.1% overall agreement with VNT, boasting a sensitivity of 98.2% and a specificity of 92.6%. These results indicate that IgG ELISA based on rE2 protein is an efficient and economical method for the detection of GETV antibodies in pigs, facilitating the diagnosis and prevention of GETV.

RESUMO

Although ionic liquids (ILs) are of prime interest for the synthesis of various nanomaterials, they are scarcely utilized for the polyhydrido copper(I) [Cu(I)H] clusters. Herein, two air-stable Cu(I)H clusters, [Cu8H6(dppy)6](NTf2)2 (Cu8H6) and {Cu12H9(dppy)6[N(CN)2]3} (Cu12H9), are synthesized in high yields for the first time from the ILs-driven conversion of an unprecedented cluster [Cu7H5(dppy)6](ClO4)2 (Cu7H5) by a facile three-layers diffusion crystal (TLDC) method, strategically introducing IL-NTf2 and IL-N(CN)2 as two types of unusual interfacial crystallized templates, respectively. Their structures are fully characterized by various spectroscopic methods and X-ray crystallography, which shows that the anion of IL plays an important role as an anion template and an anion ligand in controlling the structural conversion of Cu(I)H clusters. Their photophysical properties are also investigated, and it is found that all reported clusters exhibit red luminescence with λem ranging from 600 to 690 nm.

RESUMO

Herein, a metal-organic framework (MOF), {[(Me2NH2)4][Cd(H2O)6][Cd18(TrZ)12(TPD)15(DMF)6]}n (denoted as JXNU-18, TrZ = triazolate), constructed from the unique cucurbituril-shaped Cd18(TrZ)12 secondary building units bridged by 2,5-thiophenedicarboxylic (TPD2-) ligands, is presented. The formation of the cucurbituril-shaped Cd18(TrZ)12 unit is unprecedented, demonstrating the geometric compatibility of the organic linkers and the coordination configurations of the cadmium atoms. Each Cd18(TrZ)12 unit is connected to eight neighboring Cd18(TrZ)12 units through 30 TPD2- linkers, affording the three-dimensional structure of JXNU-18. More interesting is that JXNU-18 displays an efficient C2H2/CO2 separation ability, as revealed by the gas adsorption experiments and dynamic gas breakthrough experiments, which afford insights into the potential applications of JXNU-18 in gas separation. The tubular pores composed of two Cd18(TrZ)12 units bridged by six 2,5-thiophenedicarboxylic linkers provide the suitable pore space for C2H2 trapping, as unveiled by computational simulations.

RESUMO

This study comprehensively assessed the effect of enhanced recovery after surgery (ERAS) on wound infection and postoperative complications in patients undergoing liver surgery. The PubMed, EMBASE, MEDLINE, Cochrane Library, China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI), VIP, and Wanfang electronic databases were searched to collect published studies on the use of ERAS in liver surgery until December 2022. Literature selection was performed independently by two investigators according to the inclusion and exclusion criteria, and quality evaluation and data extraction were performed. RevMan 5.4 software was used in this study. Compared with the control group, the ERAS group showed a significantly lower incidence of postoperative wound infection (odds ratio [OR]: 0.59, 95% confidence interval [CI]: 0.41-0.84, P = .004) and overall postoperative complication rate (OR: 0.43, 95% CI: 0.33-0.57, P < .001) and significantly shorter postoperative hospital stay (mean difference: -2.30, 95% CI: -2.92 to -1.68, P < .001). Therefore, ERAS was safe and feasible when applied to liver resection, reducing the incidence of wound infection and total postoperative complications, and shortening the length of hospital stay. However, further studies are required to investigate the impact of ERAS protocols on clinical outcomes.

RESUMO

A pair of metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) of JXNU-15 (formulated as [Co6(µ3-OH)6(BTB)2(BPY)3]n, BTB3- = benzene-1,3,5-tribenzoate and BPY = 4,4'-bipyridine) and its fluorinated JXNU-15(F) ([Co6(µ3-OH)6(SFBTB)2(BPY)3]n) based on the fluorous 1,3,5-tri(3,5-bifluoro-4-carboxyphenyl)benzene (SFBTB3-) ligands were presented. The detailed comparisons of the acetylene/carbon dioxide (C2H2/CO2) separation abilities between the isostructural JXNU-15(F) and JXNU-15 were presented. In comparison with the parent JXNU-15, the higher C2H2 uptake, larger adsorption selectivity of the C2H2/CO2 (50/50) mixture, and enhanced C2H2/CO2 separation performance endow JXNU-15(F) with highly efficient C2H2/CO2 separation performance, which is demonstrated by singe-component gas adsorptions and dynamic gas mixture breakthrough experiments. The fluorine substituents exert the crucial effects on the enhanced C2H2/CO2 separation ability of JXNU-15(F) and play the dominant role in the C2H2-framework interactions, as uncovered by computational simulations. This work illustrates a powerful fluorine substitution strategy for boosting C2H2/CO2 separation ability for MOFs.

RESUMO

A closed bipolar electrochemiluminescence (BP-ECL) platform for sensitive prostate specific antigen (PSA) detection was proposed based on a novel synergistic signal amplification strategy. Specifically, glucose oxidase-loaded Cu-based metal-organic frameworks (Cu-MOFs/GOx) as bifunctional probes were bridged on the anodic interface with the target PSA as the intermediate unit. In virtue of the large loading capacity of Cu-MOFs, a large amount of a co-reactant, i.e., H2O2 in this L-012-based ECL system and gluconic acid were generated on the anodic pole in the presence of glucose. The generated gluconic acid could effectively degrade the Cu-MOFs to release Cu2+ which greatly accelerates the formation of highly active intermediates from co-reactant H2O2, boosting the ECL intensity. As for the cathodic pole, K3Fe(CN)6 with a lower reduction potential is used to reduce the driving voltage and speed up the reaction rate, further strengthening the ECL intensity. Thanks to the synergistic signal amplification effect at both two electrode poles of the BP-ECL system, highly sensitive detection of PSA was realized with a detection limit of 5.0 × 10-14 g/mL and a wide linear range of 1.0 × 10-13-1.0 × 10-7 g/mL. The strategy provides a novel way for signal amplification in the BP-ECL biosensing field.

RESUMO

Fluorinated dicopper(II) metal-organic framework JXNU-16F with 1,3,5-tri(3,5-bifluoro-4-carboxyphenyl)benzene ligands and nonfluorinated JXNU-16 exhibit high propyne uptakes of 443 and 496 cm3 g-1 under ambient conditions, respectively. Their remarkable propyne uptakes result from suitable pore spaces and strong propyne⋯propyne interactions amongst the adsorbed propyne molecules, as revealed by computational simulations.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Neoadjuvant systemic therapy (NST) is conducted in increased number of patients with breast cancer overexpressing human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2). Whether the intensity of HER2 protein expression determines response to treatment is challenged. This study aims to analyze the impact of HER2 immunohistochemical (IHC) scores on NST response and survival outcome. METHODS: We analyzed a total of 197 patients with HER2-positive breast cancer receiving NST and definite surgery from a prospectively collected database. The analyzed endpoints included pathological complete response (pCR), disease-free survival (DFS), and overall survival (OS). More patients with IHC 2+/ in situ hybridization (ISH)-positive tumors presented positive for hormonal receptors, compared with those with IHC 3+ tumors. No clinicopathological features except tumor necrosis were significantly associated with pCR. RESULTS: Both positive hormone receptors and IHC scores stood on the borderline in statistical analysis. IHC 3+ group tends to present a higher pCR rate than IHC 2+/ISH+ groups (52.5% vs. 34.3%). Patients who achieved pCR had better survival outcome than that of non-pCR group. The impact of pCR on survival reached the statistical significance in the IHC 3+ group both in DFS (90.9% vs. 76.5%; p = 0.004) and OS (97.4% vs. 83.2%; p = 0.002). Multivariate analysis demonstrated IHC scores as an independent predictor of survival outcome with the adjustment of tumor staging and pCR. CONCLUSION: HER2 IHC score is an independent predictor for outcome. IHC 3+ tumors presented a trend of higher pCR rate and better outcome in HER2-positive breast cancer patients who receive NST.

RESUMO

Background: There were limited studies that directly compare the outcomes of various mind-body exercise (MBE) therapies on chronic non-specific low back pain (CNLBP). Objectives: To compare the efficacy of the four most popular MBE modes [Pilates, Yoga, Tai Chi (TC), and Qigong] in clinically CNLBP patients, we conducted a systematic review and network meta-analysis (NMA). Methods: We searched databases for eligible randomized controlled trials (RCTs) (from origin to July 2022). RCTs were eligible if they included adults with CNLBP, and implemented one or more MBE intervention arms using Pilates, yoga, TC, and qigong. In addition, pain intensity and physical function were evaluated using validated questionnaires. Results: NMA was carried out on 36 eligible RCTs involving 3,050 participants. The effect of exercise therapy on pain was in the following rankings: Pilates [Surface under cumulative ranking (SUCRA) = 86.6%], TC (SUCRA = 77.2%), yoga (SUCRA = 67.6%), and qigong (SUCRA = 64.6%). The effect of exercise therapy on function: Pilates (SUCRA = 98.4%), qigong (SUCRA = 61.6%,), TC (SUCRA = 59.5%) and yoga (SUCRA = 59.0%). Conclusion: Our NMA shows that Pilates might be the best MBE therapy for CNLBP in pain intensity and physical function. TC is second only to Pilates in improving pain in patients with CNLBP and has the value of promotion. In the future, we need more high-quality, long-term follow-up RCTs to confirm our findings. RESUMO

Background: Chronic pain is often accompanied by emotional dysfunction. Transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) has been used for reducing pain, depressive and anxiety symptoms in chronic pain patients, but its therapeutic effect remains unknown. Objectives: To ascertain the treatment effect of tDCS on pain, depression, and anxiety symptoms of patients suffering from chronic pain, and potential factors that modulate the effectiveness of tDCS. Methods: Literature search was performed on PubMed, Embase, Web of Science, and Cochrane Library from inception to July 2022. Randomized controlled trials that reported the effects of tDCS on pain and depression and anxiety symptoms in patients with chronic pain were included. Results: Twenty-two studies were included in this review. Overall pooled results indicated that the use of tDCS can effectively alleviate short-term pain intensity [standard mean difference (SMD): -0.43, 95% confidence interval (CI): -0.75 to -0.12, P = 0.007] and depressive symptoms (SMD: -0.31, 95% CI, -0.47 to -0.14, P < 0.001), middle-term depressive symptoms (SMD: -0.35, 95% CI: -0.58 to -0.11, P = 0.004), long-term depressive symptoms (ES: -0.38, 95% CI: -0.64 to -0.13, P = 0.003) and anxiety symptoms (SMD: -0.26, 95% CI: -0.51 to -0.02, P = 0.03) compared with the control group. Conclusion: tDCS may be an effective short-term treatment for the improvement of pain intensity and concomitant depression and anxiety symptoms in chronic pain patients. Stimulation site, stimulation frequency, and type of chronic pain were significant influence factors for the therapeutic effect of tDCS. RESUMO

Here, a hexanuclear Co6(µ3-OH)6 cluster-based metal-organic framework (MOF), [Co6(µ3-OH)6(BTB)2(bpy)3]n (JXNU-15) (bpy = 4,4'-bipyridine), with the 1,3,5-tri(4-carboxyphenyl)benzene (BTB3-) ligand was synthesized for the challenging propadiene/propylene separation. The combination of a large pore volume and a suitable pore environment boosts the significantly high propadiene (C3H4) uptake (311 cm3 g-1 at 298 K and 100 kPa) for JXNU-15. An amine-functionalized MOF of JXNU-15(NH2) was further obtained with the 1,3,5-tri(4-carboxyphenyl)benzene analogue of 3,3″-diamino-5'-(3-amino-4-carboxyphenyl)-[1,1':3',1″-terphenyl]-4,4″-dicarboxylic ligand. The comparative studies of propadiene/propylene(C3H4/C3H6) separation performance between isostructural JXNU-15 and JXNU-15(NH2) are provided. JXNU-15(NH2) exhibits an impressive C3H4 capacity at low pressures with 69.1 cm3 g-1 at 10 kPa, which is twice that of JXNU-15 under the same conditions. Moreover, the separation selectivity of JXNU-15(NH2) is 1.3-fold higher as compared to JXNU-15. JXNU-15(NH2) with enhanced C3H4/C3H6 separation performance was elegantly illustrated by gas separation experiments and theoretical simulations. This work presents an amine-functionalized strategy for the enhancement of the C3H4/C3H6 separation performance of MOF.

RESUMO

Using original texts of Confucian and Taoist primary classics as materials, we conducted an eight-week educational intervention experiment combining classroom teaching and post-class reflection as cultural manipulation. Ninety-four sixth-grade students from three parallel mainstream classes were randomly assigned to three intervention groups, comprising two experimental groups (Confucian and Taoist values interventions) and a control group (natural science intervention). The results suggest that the Confucian intervention had a positive effect on interdependent self and holistic thinking, the Taoist intervention had a positive effect on independent self and holistic thinking, and the natural science intervention promoted analytical thinking.

RESUMO

The understanding of areas for "classical" electrochemistry (including catalysis, electrolysis and sensing) and bio-electrochemistry at the micro/nanoscale are focus on the continued performance facilitations or the exploration of new features. In the recent 20 years, a different mode for driving electrochemistry has been proposed, which is called as bipolar electrochemistry (BPE). BPE has garnered attention owing to the interesting properties: (i) its wireless nature facilitates electrochemical sensing and high throughput analysis; (ii) the gradient potential distribution on the electrodes surface is a useful tool for preparing gradient surfaces and materials. These permit BPE to be used for modification and analytical applications on a micro/nanoscale surface. This review aims to introduce the principle and classification of BPE and BPE at micro/nanoscale; sort out its applications in electrocatalysis, electrosynthesis, electrophoresis, power supply and so on; explain the confined BPE and summarize its analytical application for single entities (single cells, single particles and single molecules), and discuss finally the important direction of micro/nanoscale BPE.
