RESUMO

Ru-doped Co9S8 hollow porous polyhedrons (Ru-Co9S8 HPPs) derived from zeolitic-imidazolate-frameworks were synthesized through hydrothermal coprecipitation and thermal decomposition methods. The results indicate that Ru-Co9S8-500 HPPs possess a strong Ru-Co synergistic effect, large electrochemical surface area, and sufficient active sites, endowing them with excellent hydrogen evolution reaction performance.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Traumatic aortic dissection with traumatic diaphragmatic hernia is a rare traumatic disease. The purpose of this article is to investigate the imaging characteristics and treatment strategies for traumatic diaphragmatic hernia with aortic dissection. CASE PRESENTATION: The imaging and clinical data of 3 patients with traumatic diaphragmatic hernia combined with aortic dissection were analyzed retrospectively. Of the three cases, two were males, and one was female; their mean age was 52.7 years (range, 47-62 years). Plain chest CT scans revealed diaphragmatic hernia in 2 patients, but no traumatic aortic dissection was found. Diaphragmatic hernia repair was performed in all patients. Aortic dilatation was found during intraoperative exploration, and aortic dissection was confirmed by postoperative enhanced CT. One patient underwent stent implantation and recovered smoothly (Case 1). The other patient refused stent implantation and died of thoracic hemorrhage (Case 2). The third patient underwent preoperative enhanced CT to identify traumatic diaphragmatic hernia with aortic dissection (Case 3). Aortic covered stent implantation was performed immediately, and diaphragmatic hernia repair was performed at a selected time. The patient's postoperative recovery was good. CONCLUSION: A preoperative plain chest CT scan indicated diaphragmatic hernia in major blunt thoracic trauma patients with a history of trauma and blurred periaortic spaces accompanied by hematocele and other imaging manifestations. Chest-enhanced CT should be performed to improve the diagnostic accuracy of aortic dissection.

RESUMO

The contents and stability of soil dissolved organic matter (DOM) can affect key processes of soil carbon and nitrogen cycle. The responses of DOM content and its spectral structure pro-perties in forest soils to climate change remain unclear. We collected soil samples from two temperate forests, i.e., the broadleaf and Korean pine mixed forest (BKPF) and adjacent secondary white birch forest (WBF), in Changbai Mountains, northeastern China. Using a combination of three-dimensional fluorescence spectrum and parallel factor analysis, a simulated freeze-thaw experiment was conducted in the laboratory. We examined the effects of freeze-thaw intensity, freeze-thaw cycle and their interaction on the content, components and spectral properties of DOM leached from the two forest surface soils with different moisture levels. The results showed that DOM content and components of soil leachates varied with forest types, soil moisture, freeze-thaw intensity and freeze-thaw cycle. The DOM content in the leachates was lowest at medium moisture level and was significantly affected by the high freeze-thaw intensity. In addition, the DOM content increased first and then decreased with the increases of freeze-thaw cycles. Three fluorescence components of DOM in the forest soil leachates were identified as humic acid-like DOM, fulvic acid-like DOM and protein-like DOM. The DOM components of BKPF soil leachates were mainly consisted of fulvic acid-like substances with a high humification index. However, the DOM from WBF soil leachates was dominated by humic acid-like substances with low stability, and the three fluorescence components were significantly affected by the freeze-thaw intensity. Results from the redundancy analysis showed that under the experimental conditions, forest type played a leading role in changing DOM properties. The DOM content and its three fluorescence intensities of WBF soil leachates were higher than those of BKPF. Soil moisture significantly affected the aromaticity of DOM in the forest soil leachates, and the DOM aromaticity of soil leachates from the two forest stands ranked as medium moisture > high moisture > low moisture. With the increases of freeze-thaw intensity, the DOM aromaticity of BKPF soil leachates significantly decreased. Furthermore, the increases of freeze-thaw cycles significantly increased the humification degree of DOM in the forest soil leachates. Therefore, upon different freeze-thaw disturbance, the DOM content and bioavailability of soil leachates with low moisture tended to increase, particularly in the WBF soil leachates, which may result in an increased lea-ching of DOM in temperate forest soils during spring freeze-thaw periods. The results provide a refe-rence for further investigating DOM turnover in temperate forest soils during spring freeze-thaw periods.

RESUMO

Without real-state transition, third-harmonic generation (THG) cannot be modulated simply by fluorescence-based methods. However, utilizing the absorption-enhancement property of THG, the modulation of THG intensity has been demonstrated through ground-state depletion (GSD) in this Letter. By suppressing the absorption of materials with GSD, the THG intensity can be reduced due to a decreasing of absorption enhancement. The ability to modulate THG intensity can benefit from applying super-resolution techniques to THG microscopy.

RESUMO

Cognitive deficits, characterized by progressive problems with hippocampus-dependent learning, memory and spatial processing, are the most serious complication of cranial irradiation. However, the underlying mechanisms remain obscure. The p75 neurotrophin receptor (p75NTR) is involved in a diverse arrays of cellular responses, including neurite outgrowth, neurogenesis, and negative regulation of spine density, which are associated with various neurological disorders. In this study, male Sprague-Dawley (SD) rats received 10 Gy cranial irradiation. Then, we evaluated the expression of p75NTR in the hippocampus after cranial irradiation and explored its potential role in radiation-induced synaptic dysfunction and memory deficits. We found that the expression of p75NTR was significantly increased in the irradiated rat hippocampus. Knockdown of p75NTR by intrahippocampal infusion of AAV8-shp75 ameliorated dendritic spine abnormalities, and restored synapse-related protein levels, thus preventing memory deficits, likely through normalization the phosphor-AKT activity. Moreover, viral-mediated overexpression of p75NTR in the normal hippocampus reproduced learning and memory deficits. Overall, this study demonstrates that p75NTR is an important mediator of irradiation-induced cognitive deficits by regulating dendritic development and synapse structure.

RESUMO

AIM: To search for flavonoids which possess stronger vasorelaxation action. METHODS: Four quercetin glycosides (1a - d) were synthesized from quercetin in three steps i. e. selective protection of quercetin, condensation with corresponding acetyiglycosyl bromide, and then removal of the protecting group; Six flavone compounds (2a - f) were prepared from phloroglucinol according to the conventional methods; The structures of synthetic compounds were confirmed by IR, 1H NMR, 13C NMR and MS. Vasorelaxation action of ten synthetic quercetin derivatives (or analogues) and four natural flavonoids compounds were examined on the isolated rat thoracic aorta rings; Comparative octanol-water partition coefficients (logP) were measured using a reversed-phase HPLC method. RESULTS: Most of the tested flavonoids showed concentration dependent relaxation effects against PE-induced contractions of rat aortic rings. These compounds had stronger action with the augment of logP values. CONCLUSION: Compound 3-bromo-5 ,7-dihydroxyflavone (2d) was identified to have the most potent vasodilating action. These compounds exert vasodilating effects that are related to the logP values. A structure-activity relationship of flavonoids was suggested.
