RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: To explore clnical efficacy of modified Frosch approach for Schatzker typeⅡtibial plateau fracture with posterolateral column. METHODS: From January 2019 to September 2020, totally 11 patients with Schatzker typeⅡtibial plateau fractures with posterolateral column were treated, including 7 males and 4 females, aged from 21 to 49 years old. Modified Frosch approach was adopted for lateral decubitus position, and posterolateral fractures were fixed with support plates or posterolateral screws. Anterolateral fixation with conventional tibial plateau lateral locking plate. Tibial plateau varus angle and posterior inclination angle were measured by X-ray immediately and 12 months after operation, as well as knee motion at 12 months after operation. Knee function at 12 months after operation was evaluated by knee score of Hospital for Special Surgery(HSS). RESULTS: Eleven patients were followed up for 12 to 15 months. Varus angle and inclination angle at immediately after operation ranged from 76° to 86° and 6° to 10°, respectively, and 79° to 88° and 6° to 10°, respectively at 12 months after operation. The range of extension of knee ranged from 0° to 5°, and flexion was 106° to 137° at 12 months after operation. Postoperative HSS knee score at 12 months ranged from 74 to 94 scores, 8 patients were excellent and 3 good. CONCLUSION: Modified Frosch approach is an effective surgical method for Schatzker typeⅡtibial plateau fracture with posterolateral column. A single incision is used to complete fracture exposure and fixation at two sites, avoiding use of combined incisions, and could obtain good postoperative knee joint function. During operation, popliteal fossa structure should be familiar, and the common peroneal nerve should be protected to avoid injury.

RESUMO

Microalgae, known for rapid growth and lipid richness, hold potential in biofuels and high-value biomolecules. The symbiotic link with bacteria is crucial in large-scale open cultures. This study explores algal-bacterial interactions using a symbiotic model, evaluating acid-resistant Lactic acid bacteria (LAB), stress-resilient Bacillus subtilis and Bacillus licheniformis, and various Escherichia coli strains in the Aurantiochytrium sp. SW1 system. It was observed that E. coli SUC significantly enhanced the growth and lipid production of Aurantiochytrium sp. SW1 by increasing enzyme activity (NAD-IDH, NAD-ME, G6PDH) while maintaining sustained succinic acid release. Optimal co-culture conditions included temperature 28 °C, a 1:10 algae-to-bacteria ratio, and pH 8. Under these conditions, Aurantiochytrium sp. SW1 biomass increased 3.17-fold to 27.83 g/L, and total lipid content increased 2.63-fold to 4.87 g/L. These findings have implications for more efficient microalgal lipid production and large-scale cultivation.

RESUMO

Exploring new ways to reconstruct the structure and function of inappropriate organic fluorophores for improving amyloid-ß (Aß) fluorescent imaging performance is desired for precise detection and early diagnosis of Alzheimer's disease (AD). With stilbazolium dyes as examples, here, we present a multipronged approach to comprehensively improved the Aß fluorescent imaging performance through a flexible bivalent method, where a flexible carbon chain was introduced to link two monomers to form a homodimer. Our results reveal a mechanism wherein the flexible linker creates a well-defined probe with specific orientations and distinct photophysical properties. Applying this approach in combination with theoretical simulation, the homodimers exhibited a comprehensive improvement of the Aß fluorescent imaging performance of the dye monomers, including better photostability and higher signal-to-noise (S/N) ratio, higher "off-on" near-infrared fluorescence (NIRF) response sensitivity, higher specificity and affinity to Aß deposits, and more reasonable lipophilicity for blood-brain barrier (BBB) penetrability. The results demonstrate that flexible homodimers offer a multipronged approach to obtaining high-performance NIRF imaging reagents for the detection of Aß deposits both in vitro and in vivo.

RESUMO

Due to rapid socioeconomic development, increased phosphorus concentrations can cause eutrophication of water bodies, with devastating effects on environmental sustainability and aquatic ecosystems. In this study, ZIF-8-PhIm was prepared for phosphorus removal using 2-phenylimidazole via the solvent-assisted ligand exchange (SALE) method. The structure and composition of ZIF-8-PhIm were characterized by various methods, including X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), 1H nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), and Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET) analysis. Compared to the ZIF-8 material, it exhibited a multistage pore structure with larger pore capacity and pore size, increased hydrophilicity, exposure of more adsorption sites, and also stronger electrostatic interaction. Under optimized conditions (T = 298 K, C0 = 150 mg/L, dose = 0.2 g/L), the adsorption capacity of ZIF-8-PhIm reached 162.93 mg/g, which was greater than that of the ZIF-8 material (92.07 mg/g). The Langmuir isotherm and pseudo-second-order kinetic models were suitable for describing the phosphate adsorption of ZIF-8-PhIm. The main effects of ZIF-8-PhIm on phosphate adsorption were Zn-O-P bonding and electrostatic interactions. It also had good regeneration properties. The ZIF-8-PhIm/CS spheres were prepared using chitosan (CS) as the cross-linking agent. The results of dynamic adsorption experiments on the spheres showed a saturation capacity of 85.69 mg/g and a half-penetration time of 514.15 min at 318 K according to the fitted results.

RESUMO

Cardiac auscultation is a noninvasive, convenient, and low-cost diagnostic method for heart valvular disease, and it can diagnose the abnormality of the heart valve at an early stage. However, the accuracy of auscultation relies on the professionalism of cardiologists. Doctors in remote areas may lack the experience to diagnose correctly. Therefore, it is necessary to design a system to assist with the diagnosis. This study proposed a computer-aided heart valve disease diagnosis system, including a heart sound acquisition module, a trained model for diagnosis, and software, which can diagnose four kinds of heart valve diseases. In this study, a training dataset containing five categories of heart sounds was collected, including normal, mitral stenosis, mitral regurgitation, and aortic stenosis heart sound. A convolutional neural network GoogLeNet and weighted KNN are used to train the models separately. For the model trained by the convolutional neural network, time series heart sound signals are converted into time-frequency scalograms based on continuous wavelet transform to adapt to the architecture of GoogLeNet. For the model trained by weighted KNN, features from the time domain and time-frequency domain are extracted manually. Then feature selection based on the chi-square test is performed to get a better group of features. Moreover, we designed software that lets doctors upload heart sounds, visualize the heart sound waveform, and use the model to get the diagnosis. Model assessments using accuracy, sensitivity, specificity, and F1 score indicators are done on two trained models. The results showed that the model trained by modified GoogLeNet outperformed others, with an overall accuracy of 97.5%. The average accuracy, sensitivity, specificity, and F1 score for diagnosing four kinds of heart valve diseases are 98.75%, 96.88%, 99.22%, and 97.99%, respectively. The computer-aided diagnosis system, with a heart sound acquisition module, a diagnostic model, and software, can visualize the heart sound waveform and show the reference diagnostic results. This can assist in the diagnosis of heart valve diseases, especially in remote areas, which lack skilled doctors.

RESUMO

Thin-film composite (TFC) membranes are attracting wide attention because their ultrathin selective layer usually corresponds to the higher membrane flux for pervaporation. However, the direct preparation of the TFC membranes on ceramic substrates confronted with the great difficulties because the larger pores on ceramic substrate surfaces are detrimental to the formation of an intact polyamide (PA) selective layer produced by interfacial polymerization (IP) reaction. Here, the integrated ZIF-L nanosheets were proposed to be used as an assistance interlayer for the first time to eliminate the existence of the pores of the ceramic support, and provides a better basis for the formation of an intact PA selective layer by IP reaction between TMC and ethylenediamine (EDA). The experimental data obtained in pervaporation (PV) show that the increased flux from 1.1 to 2.9 kg/m2h corresponds to the decreased separation factor from 396 to 110 when the feed concentration of ethanol decreases from 95 wt % to 80 wt % at 50 °C. In addition, the membrane flux increases from 0.8 to 2.5 kg/m2h with a change of the separation factor from 683 to 111 when the operational temperature varies from 30 to 60 °C. These results demonstrate the great potential of the fabricated TFC membranes in practical application for PV dehydration of organic solutions.

RESUMO

Graphene oxide (GO), as a two-dimensional structure material, has attracted widespread attention in the field of molecule sieving. However, GO-based membranes usually exhibit undesirable separation performance because the microstructure of GO is difficult to adjust. Herein, a novel double-crosslinking strategy for tuning the interlayer spacing of GO is reported. The hybrid membrane fabricated by the double-crosslinking strategy was used for pervaporation (PV) dehydration of isopropanol. To achieve high-performance of the PV hybrid membranes, the effects of operating cycles, chitosan concentration, and GO concentration were systematically investigated. The PV hybrid membranes were characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, water contact angle measurement, and scanning electron microscopy. The results demonstrate that the interlayer of GO can be adjusted successfully by the double-crosslinking strategy. The fabricated hybrid membrane containing 0.1 wt % GO exhibited excellent performance with a flux of 4391 g/m2h and a separation factor of 1491, which indicated that the double-crosslinking strategy may extend the applications of GO in the field of membrane separation.
