RESUMO

In order to investigate the influence of the CaO and fly ash (FA) dosage and proportion on the mechanical properties, durability, and microstructure of solidified sludge, freeze-thaw (F-T) cycles and dry-wet (D-W) cycles are conducted to study the change in appearance and the strength attenuation of CaO-FA solidified sludge. Low-field nuclear magnetic resonance (LF-NMR) is used to analyze the microstructure of the solidified sludge with various dosages and ratios of CaO-FA. The results demonstrate that the unconfined compressive strength (UCS) and direct shear strength of solidified sludge increase with the prolongation of the curing age. Furthermore, the mechanical properties of solidified sludge are improved as the ratio of CaO-FA increases. As the curing age increases, the distribution of transverse relaxation time (T2) becomes narrow, the spectral area decreases, and the amplitude of the LF-NMR signal shows a downward and leftward tendency. Additionally, with the increase in the number of F-T cycles and D-W cycles, the UCS of solidified sludge declines and the degree of pore deterioration increased gradually. This study offers a theoretical foundation and empirical data for the dredging and treatment of sludge in cold regions.

RESUMO

This study investigates the effects of phosphoric acid (H3PO4), potassium dihydrogen phosphate (KH2PO4) and sodium dihydrogen phosphate (NaH2PO4) admixtures on the setting time, compressive strength and water resistance of magnesium oxychloride cement (MOC). MOC samples incorporating different admixtures are prepared, and their hydration products and microstructures are studied via X-ray diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The results indicate that the addition of H3PO4, KH2PO4 and NaH2PO4 reduces the initial and final setting times and decreases the compressive strength. However, the compressive strength of MOC is higher than 30.00 MPa with the addition of 2.0 wt.% phosphoric acid and its phosphate after 14 days of air curing. The water resistance of modified MOC slurries is significantly improved. The softening coefficient of MOC with 2.0 wt.% H3PO4 is 1.2 after 14 days of water immersion, which is 3.44 times higher than that of the neat MOC. The enhancement in water resistance is attributed to the formation of amorphous gel facilitated by H3PO4, KH2PO4 and NaH2PO4. Furthermore, the improvement in water resistance is manifested as H3PO4 > KH2PO4 > NaH2PO4.

RESUMO

Van der Waals (vdW) heterostructures comprising of transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDs) and hexagonal boron nitride (h-BN) are promising building blocks for novel 2D devices. The vdW epitaxy provides a straightforward integration method for fabricating high-quality TMDs/h-BN vertical heterostructures. In this work, the vdW epitaxy of high-quality single-crystal HfSe2 on epitaxial h-BN/sapphire substrates by chemical vapor deposition is demonstrated. The epitaxial HfSe2 layers exhibit a uniform and atomically sharp interface with the underlying h-BN template, and the epitaxial relationship between HfSe2 and h-BN/sapphire is determined to HfSe2 (0001)[1 2 ¯ ${\mathrm{\bar{2}}}$ 10]//h-BN (0001)[1 1 ¯ ${\mathrm{\bar{1}}}$ 00]//sapphire (0001)[1 1 ¯ ${\mathrm{\bar{1}}}$ 00]. Impressively, the full width at half maximum of the rocking curve for the epitaxial HfSe2 layer on single-crystal h-BN is as narrow as 9.6 arcmin, indicating an extremely high degree of out-plane orientation and high crystallinity. Benefitting from the high crystalline quality of HfSe2 epilayers and the weak interfacial scattering of HfSe2/h-BN, the photodetector fabricated from the vdW epitaxial HfSe2 on single-crystal h-BN shows the best performance with an on/off ratio of 1 × 104 and a responsivity up to 43 mA W-1. Furthermore, the vdW epitaxy of other TMDs such as HfS2, ZrS2, and ZrSe2 is also experimentally demonstrated on single-crystal h-BN, suggesting the broad applicability of the h-BN template for the vdW epitaxy.

RESUMO

We report the epitaxial growth of a monoclinic VO2 thin film on the CoFe2O4(111) template, assisted by an interfacial layer of the metastable orthorhombic phase. The interface between orthorhombic VO2 and CoFe2O4 is atomically sharp without noticeable interfacial diffusion. The (010)-faceted orthorhombic VO2 layer is lattice-matched to both the CoFe2O4(111) template and the monoclinic phase, although they have different surface symmetries. The occurrence of an orthorhombic VO2 thin layer significantly lowers the in-plane misfit strains of the monoclinic VO2 epilayer, along both the [100] and [001] axes. Our first-principles calculations confirm that the low-misfit orthorhombic VO2 is preferred on CoFe2O4(111) over the large-misfit monoclinic phase, at the initial growth stage. Additionally, upon increasing the film thickness to ∼8 nm, the orthorhombic phase is no longer favored, and the bulk stable monoclinic VO2 appears to minimize the free energy of the system. Moreover, we show that the metal-to-insulator transition of our VO2 epilayer can be efficiently triggered by both the temperature and Joule self-heating effect.

RESUMO

Two-dimensional (2D) InSe and PtTe2 have drawn extensive attention due to their intriguing properties. However, the InSe monolayer is an indirect bandgap semiconductor with a low hole mobility. van der Waals (vdW) heterostructures produce interesting electronic and optoelectronic properties beyond the existing 2D materials and endow totally new device functions. Herein, we theoretically investigated the electronic structures, transport behaviors, and electric field tuning effects of the InSe/PtTe2 vdW heterostructures. The calculated results show that the direct bandgap type-II vdW heterostructures can be realized by regulating the stacking configurations of heterostructures. By applying an external electric field, the band alignment and bandgap of the heterostructures can also be flexibly modulated. Particularly, the hole mobility of the heterostructures is improved by 2 orders of magnitude to ∼103 cm2 V-1 s-1, which overcomes the intrinsic disadvantage of the InSe monolayer. The InSe/PtTe2 vdW heterostructures have great potential applications in developing novel optoelectronic devices.

RESUMO

Perovskite light-emitting diodes (PeLEDs) have attracted great attention in recent years; however, the halogen vacancy defects in perovskite notably hamper the development of high-efficiency devices. Previously, large-sized passivation agents have been usually used, while the effect of defect passivation is limited due to the weak bonding or the large space steric hindrance. Here, we predict that the ultrasmall-sized formate (Fa) and acetate (Ac) have more efficient passivation ability because of the stronger binding with the perovskite, as demonstrated by density functional theory calculation. We introduce ultrasmall-sized cesium salts (CsFa/CsAc) into buried interface, which can also diffuse into the bulk, resulting in both buried interface and bulk passivation. In addition, the improved perovskite growth has been found due to the enhanced hydrophily after introducing CsFa/CsAc as additive. According to these advantages, a pure-red PeLED with 24.2% efficiency at 639 nm has been achieved.

RESUMO

The design of tuned mass damper (TMD) parameters is influenced by the soil-structure-TMD coupling system; thus, it is important to consider the soil-structure interaction (SSI) for the vibration control effect of the TMD. Recently, the acquisition of TMD parameters considering soil-structure interactions has only remained at the theoretical stage, lacking relevant experimental verification. Traditional TMD face the problems of occupying a large building space, increasing construction costs, and non-replaceable components. In this study, an assembled wall-type damping TMD was designed. By comparing the dynamic response of the uncontrolled and controlled structures equipped with the newly assembled wall-type damping TMD in the shaking table test on a soft soil foundation, we analyzed whether the SSI effect was considered in the TMD design parameters on the damping effect of the newly assembled wall-type tuned mass damper. The TMD parameters optimized using the artificial intelligence algorithm were verified experimentally. The results indicated that the traditional TMD design parameters were discordant because the SSI effect was not considered. The SSI effect in the soil effectively reduces the dynamic response of the superstructure. By considering the SSI effect and improving the multi-population genetic algorithm, a wall-type damping TMD with optimized parameters can achieve a good damping effect.

RESUMO

Phosphogypsum (PG), a byproduct during the phosphoric acid production process, also known as the wet process, contains complex and diverse impurities, resulting in low utilization and considerable accumulation. This leads to a massive waste of land resources and a series of environmental pollution problems. Given the current urgent ecological and environmental situation, developing impurity removal processes with low energy consumption and high efficiency, exploring valuable resource recovery, preparing high value-added PG products, and broadening the comprehensive utilization ways of PG are significant strategies to promote the sustainable consumption of PG and sustainable development of the phosphorus chemical industry. This review comprehensively summarizes the advantages and disadvantages of existing PG impurity removal and utilization technologies and probes into the future development direction, which provides references and ideas for subsequent PG research.

RESUMO

Polypropylene fiber was equally mixed into alkali-activated slag fly ash geopolymer in order to ensure the filling effect of mine goaf and improve the stability of cemented gangue paste filling material with ecological matrix. Triaxial compression tests were then conducted under various conditions. The mechanical properties and damage characteristics of composite paste filling materials are studied, and the damage evolution model of paste filling materials under triaxial compression is established, based on the deviatoric stress-strain curve generated by the progressive failure behavior of samples. Internal physical and chemical mechanisms of the evolution of structure and characteristics are elucidated and comprehended via the use of SEM-EDS and XRD micro-techniques. The results show that the fiber can effectively improve the ultimate strength and the corresponding effective stress strength index of the sample within the scope of the experimental study. The best strengthening effect is achieved when the amount of NaOH is 3% of the mass of the solid material, the amount of fiber is 5‰ of the mass of the solid material, and the length of the fiber is about 12 mm. The action mode of the fiber in the sample is mainly divided into single-grip anchoring and three-dimensional mesh traction. As the crack initiates and develops, connection occurs in the matrix, where the fiber has an obvious interference and retardation effect on the crack propagation, thereby transforming the brittle failure into a ductile failure and consequently improving the fracture properties of the ecological cementitious coal gangue matrix. The theoretical damage evolution model of a segmented filling body is constructed by taking the initial compaction stage end point as the critical point, and the curve of the damage evolution model of the specimen under different conditions is obtained. The theoretical model is verified by the results from the triaxial compression test. We concluded that the experimental curve is in good agreement with the theoretical curve. Therefore, the established theoretical model has a certain reference value for the analysis and evaluation of the mechanical properties of paste filling materials. The research results can improve the utilization rate of solid waste resources.

RESUMO

Solid-state quantum emitters are gaining significant attention for many quantum information applications. Hexagonal boron nitride (h-BN) is an emerging host material for generating bright, stable, and tunable single-photon emission with narrow line widths at room temperature. In this work, we present a facile and efficient approach to generate high-density single-photon emitters (SPEs) in mechanically exfoliated h-BN through H- or Ar-plasma treatment followed by high-temperature annealing in air. It is notable that the postannealing is essential to suppress the fluorescence background in photoluminescence spectra and enhance emitter stability. These quantum emitters exhibit excellent optical properties, including high purity, brightness, stability, polarization degree, monochromaticity, and saturation intensity. The effects of process parameters on the quality of quantum emitters were systematic investigated. We find that there exists an optimal plasma power and h-BN thickness to achieve a high SPE density. This work offers a practical avenue for generating SPEs in h-BN and holds promise for future research and applications in quantum photonics.

RESUMO

Upland rice is a distinctive drought-aerobic ecotype of cultivated rice highly resistant to drought stress. However, the genetic and genomic basis for the drought-aerobic adaptation of upland rice remains largely unclear due to the lack of genomic resources. In this study, we identified 25 typical upland rice accessions and assembled a high-quality genome of one of the typical upland rice varieties, IRAT109, comprising 384 Mb with a contig N50 of 19.6 Mb. Phylogenetic analysis revealed upland and lowland rice have distinct ecotype differentiation within the japonica subgroup. Comparative genomic analyses revealed that adaptive differentiation of lowland and upland rice is likely attributable to the natural variation of many genes in promoter regions, formation of specific genes in upland rice, and expansion of gene families. We revealed differentiated gene expression patterns in the leaves and roots of the two ecotypes and found that lignin synthesis mediated by the phenylpropane pathway plays an important role in the adaptive differentiation of upland and lowland rice. We identified 28 selective sweeps that occurred during domestication and validated that the qRT9 gene in selective regions can positively regulate drought resistance in rice. Eighty key genes closely associated with drought resistance were appraised for their appreciable potential in drought resistance breeding. Our study enhances the understanding of the adaptation of upland rice and provides a genome navigation map of drought resistance breeding, which will facilitate the breeding of drought-resistant rice and the "blue revolution" in agriculture.

RESUMO

The increasing demand for rare earth elements (REEs), especially from new and innovative technology, has strained their supply, which makes the exploration of new REE sources necessary, for example, the recovery of REEs from phsophogypsum (PG). PG is a byproduct during the wet production of phosphoric acid, which is an attractive secondary resource for REEs due to a large amount of REEs locked in them. In most cases, REEs contained in PG are mainly encapsulated in the gypsum crystal, leading to a low leaching efficiency. Therefore, it is particularly important to use various methods to enhance the leaching of REEs from PG. In this review, we summarized and classified various enhanced leaching methods for the recovery of REEs from PG, and the advantages and disadvantages of different methods were compared. A joint method of recrystallization and RIL may be a promising enhanced leaching approach for the recovery of REEs from PG. Recrystallization could achieve both the complete REE release and simultaneous preparation of industrial materials with high value added, such as high-strength α-hemihydrate gypsum by phase transformation of PG, and the RIL technology could adsorb the releasing REEs and realize their efficient extraction. Such a combination appears to show significant advantages because of high REE recovery, as well as high value-added product preparation at low cost.

RESUMO

Co-encapsulated xanthoxylin (GX-50) and vitamin C (Vc) microcapsules (GX-50-Vc-M) were prepared by the combination of a water-in-oil-in-water (W1/O/W2) double emulsion with complex coacervation. The W1/O/W2 double emulsion was prepared by two-step emulsification, and it has a uniform particle size of 8.388 µm and high encapsulation efficiencies of GX-50 (85.95%) and Vc (67.35%) under optimized process conditions. Complex coacervation occurs at pHs 4.0-4.7, which has the highest encapsulation efficiency of GX-50 and Vc at pH 4.5. The complex coacervate with tannic acid solidifying (namely, wet microcapsules) has better mechanical properties and also enhances the ability of co-encapsulation of active ingredients. The resulting microcapsules by freeze-drying of wet microcapsules were characterized by UV-vis absorbance spectroscopy (UV-vis), Fourier infrared spectroscopy (FI-IR), confocal laser scanning microscopy (CLSM), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH·) radical scavenging, and in vitro permeation measurements. Under optimal conditions, the encapsulation efficiency and drug loading of GX-50-Vc-M for GX-50 and Vc are, respectively, 78.38 ± 0.51 and 59.34 ± 0.56%, and 35.6 ± 0.68 and 29.8 ± 0.92%. A slight shift in the FTIR peak between single GX-50 or Vc and GX-50-Vc-M confirmed the successful co-encapsulation of GX-50 and Vc in microcapsules. GX-50-Vc-M has bridged irregular spherical aggregates, while GX-50 and Vc are, respectively, encapsulated in hydrophobic and hydrophilic cavities of microcapsules in an amorphous dissolved state. GX-50-Vc-M has the highest DPPH· radical scavenging rate of 62.51%, and the scavenging process of GX-50-Vc-M on DPPH· radicals is more in line with the pseudo-second-order kinetic equation model. Moreover, the in vitro permeation of GX-50 and Vc in GX-50-Vc-M can reach maximum values of 40 and 60%, respectively. This concludes that GX-50-Vc-M is a promising delivery system for the penetration of the antioxidant into the deeper layers of the skin for the antioxidant effect.

RESUMO

With the increasing demands for novel flexible organic electronic devices, conductive polymers are now becoming the rising star for reaching such targets, which has witnessed significant breakthroughs in the fields of thermoelectric devices, solar cells, sensors, and hydrogels during the past decade due to their outstanding conductivity, solution-processing ability, as well as tailorability. However, the commercialization of those devices still lags markedly behind the corresponding research advances, arising from the not high enough performance and limited manufacturing techniques. The conductivity and micro/nano-structure of conductive polymer films are two critical factors for achieving high-performance microdevices. In this review, the state-of-the-art technologies for developing organic devices by using conductive polymers are comprehensively summarized, which will begin with a description of the commonly used synthesis methods and mechanisms for conductive polymers. Next, the current techniques for the fabrication of conductive polymer films will be proffered and discussed. Subsequently, approaches for tailoring the nanostructures and microstructures of conductive polymer films are summarized and discussed. Then, the applications of micro/nano-fabricated conductive films-based devices in various fields are given and the role of the micro/nano-structures on the device performances is highlighted. Finally, the perspectives on future directions in this exciting field are presented.

RESUMO

The direct growth of wafer-scale single crystal two-dimensional (2D) hexagonal boron nitride (h-BN) layer with a controllable thickness is highly desirable for 2D-material-based device applications. Here, for the first time, a facile submicron-spacing vapor deposition (SSVD) method is reported to achieve 2-inch single crystal h-BN layers with controllable thickness from monolayer to tens of nanometers on the dielectric sapphire substrates using a boron film as the solid source. In the SSVD growth, the boron film is fully covered by the same-sized sapphire substrate with a submicron spacing, leading to an efficient vapor diffusion transport. The epitaxial h-BN layer exhibits extremely high crystalline quality, as demonstrated by both a sharp Raman E2g vibration mode (12 cm-1 ) and a narrow X-ray rocking curve (0.10°). Furthermore, a deep ultraviolet photodetector and a ZrS2 /h-BN heterostructure fabricated from the h-BN layer demonstrate its fascinating properties and potential applications. This facile method to synthesize wafer-scale single crystal h-BN layers with controllable thickness paves the way to future 2D semiconductor-based electronics and optoelectronics.

RESUMO

Fluorine/silicone composite rubber is widely used as a sealing material in aerospace, missile, automotive, petroleum, and other industries, but the traditional process does not use synergistic fillers to strengthen the composite system. In this research, fumed SiO2 and black caron (N990) were used as synergistic fillers, fluorine/silicone composite rubber was prepared by mechanical mixing process, and three different fluorine rubber systems were used to find the best composite material. The mechanical properties, thermal properties, aging properties, moderate strength properties, and microstructure of the composites were evaluated. Studies have shown that mixing the two can produce a certain interface interaction and effectively improve the compatibility. The physical properties of the material tended to decrease during the increase in the added amount of silicone rubber (MVQ). The maximum tensile strength of the hybrid material can reach 15 MPa. The optimal mixing ratio is fluororubber/silicone rubber (FKM/MVQ) = 9/1. At this time, the mechanical properties of the composite material are in the best state, and SiO2 and black caron (N990) have a reinforcing effect, which can effectively improve the mechanical properties. After the composite was kept at 200 °C for 48 h, the tensile strength and elongation of the best sample A1 were 99.5 and 97.0%, respectively, showing excellent anti-aging properties. This work provides a method to fabricate high-strength fluorine/silicone composites using synergistic fillers that may be used in heat-medium-sealed environments.

RESUMO

Background: Radix Ardisia (Jab Bik Lik Jib) is a common Miao medicine and is widely distributed in the Guizhou region of southern China. The botanical origin of Radix Ardisia includes the dry root and rhizome of Ardisia Crenata Sims (ACS) or Ardisia Crispa (Thunb.) A.DC. (AC), which are closely related species morphologically. However, the secondary metabolites in their roots are different from one another, especially the flavonoids, and these differences have not been thoroughly explored at the molecular level. This project preliminarily identified regulatory molecular mechanisms in the biosynthetic pathways of the flavonoids between ACS and AC using a multi-omics association analysis. Methods: In this study, we determined the total levels of saponin, flavonoid, and phenolic in Radix Ardisia from different origins. Integrated transcriptome and metabolome analyses were used to identify the differentially expressed genes (DEGs) and differentially expressed metabolites (DEM). We also performed conjoint analyses on DEGs and DEMs to ascertain the degree pathways, and explore the regulation of flavonoid biosynthesis. Results: The total flavonoid and phenolic levels in ACS were significantly higher than in AC (P < 0.05). There were 17,685 DEGs between ACS vs. AC, 8,854 were upregulated and 8,831 were downregulated. Based on this, we continued to study the gene changes in the flavonoid biosynthesis pathway, and 100 DEGs involving flavonoid biosynthesis were differentially expressed in ACS and AC. We validated the accuracy of the RNA-seq data using qRT-PCR. Metabolomic analyses showed that 11 metabolites were involved in flavonoid biosynthesis including: Naringenin, Luteolin, Catechin, and Quercetin. A conjoint analysis of the genome-wide connection network revealed the differences in the types and levels of flavonoid compounds between ACS and AC. The correlation analysis showed that Naringenin, Luteolin, Catechin, and Quercetin were more likely to be key compounds in the flavonoid biosynthesis pathway also including 4CL, AOMT, CHS, CHI, DFR, F3'5'H, FLS, and LAR. Conclusions: This study provides useful information for revealing the regulation of flavonoid biosynthesis and the regulatory relationship between metabolites and genes in the flavonoid biosynthesis pathway in Radix Ardisia from different origins.

RESUMO

Perovskite light-emitting diodes (PeLEDs) have received great attention in recent years due to their narrow emission bandwidth and tunable emission spectrum. Efficient red emission is one of most important parts for lighting and displays. Quasi-2D perovskites can deliver high emission efficiency due to the strong carrier confinement, while the external quantum efficiencies (EQE) of red quasi-2D PeLEDs are inefficient at present, which is due to the complex distribution of different n-value phases in quasi-2D perovskite films. In this work, the phase distribution of the quasi-2D perovskite is finely controlled by mixing two different large organic cations, which effectively reduces the amount of smaller n-index phases, meanwhile the passivation of lead and halide defects in perovskite films is realized. Accordingly, the PeLEDs show 25.8% EQE and 1300 cd m-2 maximum brightness at 680 nm, which exhibits the highest performance for red PeLEDs up to now.

RESUMO

Atomic layer deposition (ALD) is a deposition technique well-suited to produce high-quality thin film materials at the nanoscale for applications in transistors. This review comprehensively describes the latest developments in ALD of metal oxides (MOs) and chalcogenides with tunable bandgaps, compositions, and nanostructures for the fabrication of high-performance field-effect transistors. By ALD various n-type and p-type MOs, including binary and multinary semiconductors, can be deposited and applied as channel materials, transparent electrodes, or electrode interlayers for improving charge-transport and switching properties of transistors. On the other hand, MO insulators by ALD are applied as dielectrics or protecting/encapsulating layers for enhancing device performance and stability. Metal chalcogenide semiconductors and their heterostructures made by ALD have shown great promise as novel building blocks to fabricate single channel or heterojunction materials in transistors. By correlating the device performance to the structural and chemical properties of the ALD materials, clear structure-property relations can be proposed, which can help to design better-performing transistors. Finally, a brief concluding remark on these ALD materials and devices is presented, with insights into upcoming opportunities and challenges for future electronics and integrated applications.
