RESUMO

Improving the accuracy of anthropogenic volatile organic compounds (VOCs) emission inventory is crucial for reducing atmospheric pollution and formulating control policy of air pollution. In this study, an anthropogenic speciated VOCs emission inventory was established for Central China represented by Henan Province at a 3 km × 3 km spatial resolution based on the emission factor method. The 2019 VOCs emission in Henan Province was 1003.5 Gg, while industrial process source (33.7%) was the highest emission source, Zhengzhou (17.9%) was the city with highest emission and April and August were the months with the more emissions. High VOCs emission regions were concentrated in downtown areas and industrial parks. Alkanes and aromatic hydrocarbons were the main VOCs contribution groups. The species composition, source contribution and spatial distribution were verified and evaluated through tracer ratio method (TR), Positive Matrix Factorization Model (PMF) and remote sensing inversion (RSI). Results show that both the emission results by emission inventory (EI) (15.7 Gg) and by TR method (13.6 Gg) and source contribution by EI and PMF are familiar. The spatial distribution of HCHO primary emission based on RSI is basically consistent with that of HCHO emission based on EI with a R-value of 0.73. The verification results show that the VOCs emission inventory and speciated emission inventory established in this study are relatively reliable.

RESUMO

Immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) immunotherapy facilitates new approaches to achieve precision cancer treatment. A growing number of patients with non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) have benefited from treatment with neoadjuvant ICIs combined with chemotherapy. However, the mechanisms and associations between the therapeutic efficacy of neoadjuvant pembrolizumab and chemotherapy (NAPC) and macrophage subsets are still unclear. We performed single-cell RNA sequencing (scRNA-seq) and identified a novel FABP4+C1q+ macrophage subtype, which exhibited stronger proinflammatory cytokine production and phagocytic ability. This subtype was found to be more abundant in tumor tissues and lymph nodes of major pathological response (MPR) patients compared to non-MPR patients, and was associated with a good efficacy of NAPC. Multiplex fluorescent immunohistochemical (mIHC) staining was subsequently used to verify our findings. Further mechanistic studies indicated that FABP4 and C1q regulate the expression of proinflammatory cytokines synergistically. In addition, FABP4 and C1q promote fatty acid synthesis, enhance anti-apoptosis ability and phagocytic ability of macrophage via the interaction of AMPK/JAK/STAT axis. This study provides novel insights into the underlying mechanisms and predictive biomarkers of NAPC. Our findings contribute to improving the prognosis of patients with NSCLC by potentially guiding more precise patient selection and treatment strategies. NOVELTY & IMPACT STATEMENTS: We identified a group of macrophages (FABP4+C1q+ macrophages) related to the therapeutic efficacy of neoadjuvant chemoimmunotherapy. FABP4+C1q+ macrophages highly expressed proinflammatory cytokines-related genes and had a strong cytokine production and phagocytic ability. We believe that our study provides a novel insight into the synergistic mechanism of neoadjuvant ICI combined with chemotherapy and may lead to improved clinical outcomes in patients with NSCLC in the future.

Hypobaric hypoxia causes altitude sickness and significantly affects human health. As of now, focusing on rats different proteomic and metabolic changes exposed to different hypoxic times at extreme altitude is blank. Our study integrated in vivo experiments with tandem mass tag (TMT)- and gas chromatography time-of-flight (GC-TOF)-based proteomic and metabolomic assessments, respectively. Male Sprague-Dawley rats were exposed to long-term constant hypoxia for 40 days or short-term constant hypoxia for three days, and their responses were compared with those of a normal control group. Post-hypoxia, serum marker assays related to lipid metabolism revealed significant increases in the levels of low-density lipoprotein (LDL), triglycerides (TG), and total cholesterol (TC) in the liver. In contrast, high-density lipoprotein (HDL) levels were upregulated in the long-term constant hypoxia cohorts and were significantly reduced in the short-term constant hypoxia cohorts. Furthermore, metabolic pathway analysis indicated that glycerolipid and glycerophospholipid metabolisms were the most significantly affected pathways in long-term hypoxia group. Subsequently, RT-qPCR analyses were performed to corroborate the key regulatory elements, including macrophage galactose-type lectin (MGL) and Fatty Acid Desaturase 2 (FADS2). The results of this study provide new information for understanding the effects of different hypobaric hypoxia exposure protocols on protein expression and metabolism in low-altitude animals.

With the rapid development of artificial intelligence technology, Chinese vocabulary teaching is gradually entering an era of innovation, offering vast potential for more intelligent and personalized teaching models. Existing research mostly focuses on the auxiliary role of AI technology in second language teaching, with less attention given to the implementation of intelligent second language teaching. To address this issue, this study, based on the perspective of Artificial Intelligence Generated Content (AIGC), attempts to construct an elementary Chinese vocabulary teaching (ECVT) theoretical model, presenting the development process of an ECVT system. From the existing research literature on Chinese vocabulary teaching, a total of 17 viewpoints on teaching structures and 19 viewpoints on teaching processes for ECVT are outlined. Based on this, the study first establishes the fundamental macro-level phases of ECVT, then delves into the micro-level structures and processes of each phase, ultimately deducing a theoretical model for ECVT oriented towards intelligent teaching. Integrating the perspectives of artificial intelligence deconstruction and generation into the research on Chinese vocabulary teaching not only offers front-line teachers a reference for optimizing teaching models but also provides a more forward-looking and scientifically grounded framework for Chinese language teaching, even other language teaching. This hence propels innovation in second language teaching models.

PURPOSE: Based on randomized clinical trials, this meta-analysis evaluated the efficacy and safety of intent-to-cure or prophylactic hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy (HIPEC) for the treatment of gastric cancer. METHODS: PubMed, Cochrane Library, Medline, and Embase databases were all systemically searched from 2004 to 2023. The quality of the study was assessed by using the Cochrane risk of bias method. The certainty of the evidence was determined by using the GRADE evaluation. RESULTS: In this study, 12 articles with a total of 1181 patients were analyzed based on the inclusion criteria. The findings revealed that HIPEC had a higher survival rate (risk ratio [RR] 0.60; 95% confidence interval [CI] [0.43, 0.86], P = 0.005, RR 0.82; 95% CI [0.70, 0.97], P = 0.02, RR 0.83; 95% CI [0.71, 0.96], P < 0.01, and RR 0.63 [0.54, 0.73], P < 0.00001) after 1, 2, 3, and 5 years compared with the control group. The RR was statistically significant for 1, 2, 3, and 5 years. Furthermore, the observed overall recurrence rate for the HIPEC group was lower than control group and statistically significant (RR 0.59; 95% CI [0.50, 0.68], P < 0.0001). Higher disease-free survival rate (RR 1.42; 95% CI [1.07, 1.89], P < 0.01) was observed in the HIPEC group and statistically significant. CONCLUSIONS: Gastric cancer patients treated with HIPEC have shown promising outcomes with regard to survival, recurrence, disease-free survival, and adverse reactions. However, multicenter trials with larger sample sizes consisting of different ethnicities is suggested.

BACKGROUND: Diabetes mellitus is a chronic metabolic disease characterized by abnormally elevated blood glucose levels. Type II diabetes accounts for approximately 90% of all cases. Several drugs are available for hyperglycemia treatment. However, the current therapies for managing high blood glucose do not prevent or reverse the disease progression, which may result in complications and adverse effects, including diabetic neuropathy, retinopathy, and nephropathy. Hence, developing safer and more effective methods for lowering blood glucose levels is imperative. Transient receptor potential vanilloid-1 (TRPV1) is a significant member of the transient receptor potential family. It is present in numerous body tissues and organs and performs vital physiological functions. PURPOSE: This review aimed to develop new targeted TRPV1 hypoglycemic drugs by systematically summarizing the mechanism of action of the TRPV1-based signaling pathway in preventing and treating diabetes and its complications. METHODS: Literature searches were performed in the PubMed, Web of Science, Google Scholar, Medline, and Scopus databases for 10 years from 2013 to 2023. The search terms included "diabetes," "TRPV1," "diabetic complications," and "capsaicin." RESULTS: TRPV1 is an essential potential target for treating diabetes mellitus and its complications. It reduces hepatic glucose production and food intake and promotes thermogenesis, metabolism, and insulin secretion. Activation of TRPV1 ameliorates diabetic nephropathy, retinopathy, myocardial infarction, vascular endothelial dysfunction, gastroparesis, and bladder dysfunction. Suppression of TRPV1 improves diabetes-related osteoporosis. However, the therapeutic effects of activating or suppressing TRPV1 may vary when treating diabetic neuropathy and periodontitis. CONCLUSION: This review demonstrates that TRPV1 is a potential therapeutic target for diabetes and its complications. Additionally, it provides a theoretical basis for developing new hypoglycemic drugs that target TRPV1.

Purpose: Circulating tumor cell (CTC)-based ERBB2 (HER2) assay is a laboratory test developed by Epic Sciences using single-cell genomics to detect ERBB2 (HER2) amplification in CTCs found in the peripheral blood of metastatic breast cancer (MBC) patients. Patients and methods: Peripheral blood was collected in Streck tubes and centrifugation was used to remove plasma and red blood cells. The remaining nucleated cells were deposited on glass slides, immunofluorescent-stained with proprietary antibodies, scanned by a high-definition digital scanner, and analyzed by a proprietary algorithm. In addition, single-cell genomics was performed on selected CTC. Analytical validation was performed using white blood cells from healthy donors and breast cancer cell lines with known levels of ERBB2 amplification. Clinical concordance was assessed on MBC patients whose blood was tested by the CTC ERBB2 (HER2) assay and those results are compared to results of matched metastatic tissue biopsy (immunohistochemistry [IHC] 3+ or IHC2+/in situ hybridization [ISH+]). Results: Epic's ERBB2 (HER2) assay detected 2-fold ERBB2 amplification with 85% sensitivity and 94% specificity. In the clinical concordance study, among the 50% of the cases that had ERBB2 status results from CTCs found to be chromosomally-unstable, the CTC ERBB2 (HER2) assay showed sensitivity of 69% and specificity of 78% when compared to HER2 status by metastatic tissue biopsy. Conclusions: The CTC ERBB2 (HER2) assay can consistently detect ERBB2 status in MBC cell lines and in the population of patients with MBC with detectable chromosomally unstable CTCs for whom tissue biopsy is not available or is infeasible.

This article studies the secure consensus control problem of multiagent systems (MASs) with a nonzero input leader subject to denial-of-service (DoS) attacks. The introduction of backup topologies makes it possible for MASs to actively defend against DoS attacks. Subsequently, a novel active defense method consisting of two types of state observers, an adaptive topology switching mechanism, and switching controllers is proposed, which can ensure the leader-follower bound consensus even if DoS attacks hinder the interaction between agents. Within such a defense framework, the switching mechanism, driven by the predefined performance index and designed monitoring function, can automatically search for a healthy communication graph among backup topologies. Concurrently, the observer-based switching control strategy will be modified to match the corresponding topology, in which the universal observer and controller parameters in different topologies are obtained by solving linear matrix inequalities. It should be highlighted that the developed defense scheme not only removes the limitations of existing results on the duration and frequency of DoS attacks but also ensures the same upper bound of consensus error before and after DoS attacks. Finally, several simulation examples for different systems illustrate the efficiency and superiority of the theoretical results.

Hyperuricemia is a common comorbidity of hypertension and probably has a causal relationship with hypertension. Alpha-mangostin (α-MG) has been reported to have uric acid lowering effect. This study aimed to investigate the dual effects of α-MG on blood pressure (BP) and uric acid levels in angiotensin II (Ang II)-infused hypertensive mice. Male C57BL/6 mice were randomized into five groups: control, Ang II infusion (500 ng/kg/min for 2 weeks), Ang II infusion with gavage administration of α-MG 4.0 and 8.0 mg/kg and benzbromarone (25 mg/kg) respectively. BP, uric acid levels, vascular structure and function, and renin-Ang II system expressions in the aorta were assessed. Treatment with α-MG reduced BP, improved endothelial relaxation, and reversed aortic wall thickening and collagen deposition in Ang II-induced hypertensive mice. It also downregulated Ang II receptor 1 (AT1R) and angiotensin converting enzyme (ACE) expression, while upregulating ACE2, Mas receptor (MasR), and angiotensin (1-7) in the aorta. Moreover, α-MG demonstrated a significant enhancement in uric acid clearance and reduction in serum uric acid levels. Conversely, benzbromarone did not result in a decrease in BP, indicating that the hypotensive effect of α-MG may not be necessarily dependent on its urate-lowering properties. α-MG can attenuate Ang II-induced hypertension and reverse vascular remodeling, potentially by balancing the ACE/Ang II/AT1R axis and the ACE2/Ang-(1-7)/MasR axis. Our findings provide insights into α-MG as a novel anti-hypertensive drug especially in patients with hyperuricemia.

BACKGROUND: Rosacea is a chronic inflammatory skin disease characterized by flushing, erythema, papules, and pustules on the central face. It affects patient appearance and is noted for its chronicity, recurrence, and resistance to treatment. Effective rosacea treatment requires repairing the skin barrier, reducing inflammation, and promoting vasoconstriction. AIMS: This study aims to evaluate the efficacy of topical ferulic acid in treating papulopustular rosacea and its impact on skin barrier function. METHODS: Sixty patients with mild to moderate papulopustular rosacea were selected from the Department of Dermatology at the Affiliated Hospital of Shandong Second Medical University between January 2023 and December 2023. Patients were randomly assigned to either a control group or an observation group, with 30 patients in each group. The observation group applied ferulic acid solution to the affected areas, while the control group used normal saline, both twice daily for 6 weeks. Both groups also received 0.1 g doxycycline hydrochloride tablets orally once daily. Skin lesions and skin barrier function were assessed using VISIA imaging and self-rating scales before and during treatment, and adverse reactions were recorded. RESULTS: After 6 weeks, both skin lesion assessments and self-assessment scores improved significantly from baseline, with greater improvement in the observation group compared to the control group (p < 0.05). Indicators of skin barrier function and VISIA imaging results demonstrated the efficacy of ferulic acid in treating rosacea. The total effective rate was significantly higher in the observation group (80.00%) compared to the control group (63.33%) (p < 0.05). In the observation group, nine patients (30.00%) experienced a greasy sensation initially, one patient (3.33%) reported tingling and itching, and no serious adverse reactions were observed. CONCLUSIONS: Ferulic acid is effective as an adjuvant treatment for papulopustular rosacea, significantly improving skin lesions and repairing skin barrier function with minimal adverse reactions.

BACKGROUND: The best antiviral treatment for chronic hepatitis B (CHB) poses a complex challenge. The treatment effect of the combination of nucleoside analogues (NAs) and pegylated interferon alpha (PegIFN) was still in debate. METHODS: We studied patients treated with NAs and PegIFN-2b at our institution from November 2019 to January 2022. Logistic regression identified independent factors influencing clinical cure. The predictive accuracy of the formula was assessed using the Receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve at different time points (before therapy, 12 weeks, and 24 weeks into treatment). RESULTS: A total of 120 patients were enrolled in the final analysis. Among the cohort of patients under study, 71 (59.1%) patients had clinical cure while 49 (40.9%) patients did not. Hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg) at baseline and age were the powerful variables predicting the clearance of HBsAg. The area under the ROC (AUC) was 0.907 for pre-treatment predictive model, 0.958 for 12-week predictive model and 0.747 for 24-week predictive model. CONCLUSION: This study provided predictive formulas for clinical cure, offering valuable insights for CHB treatment. PegIFN and NAs exhibited efficacy. Future research that explores additional factors, such as HBV genotype, in a larger cohort study is needed.

Ultrahigh field magnetic resonance imaging (UHF-MRI) (≥7 T) can dramatically boost image resolution and signal-to-noise ratio, which have distinct advantages in multifunctional imaging. However, their research and application are currently limited by the absence of high-field contrast agents (CAs) and the low sensitivity and accuracy of T1/T2 single-modality CAs. Therefore, the development of T1-T2 dual-mode CAs that respond to UHF-MRI and nanoformulations with therapeutic sensitization can bring ideas for the integrated application of precise and synchronous tumor theranostics. Herein, we present a biomimetic mineralization strategy for synthesizing holmium/manganese oxide-bovine serum albumin-photosensitizer chlorin e6 nanohybrids. The hybrid nanoparticles exhibited better tumor accumulation, a suitable time imaging window, and excellent pH-response T1-T2 dual-mode UHF-MRI performance. The antitumor effect comes from the amelioration of the hypoxic tumor microenvironment to promote the synergistic effect of photodynamic therapy and radiotherapy, along with negligible acute toxicity. Undoubtedly, this work not only provides a different perspective for developing multifunctional nanotherapeutics but also promotes the potential clinical exploitation and translation of UHF CAs.

BACKGROUND: Acute kidney injury (AKI) represents a significant post-cardiac surgery complication, particularly prevalent among individuals with pre-existing renal dysfunction. Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is frequently accompanied by persistent, low-grade inflammation, which is known to exacerbate systemic stress responses during surgical procedures. This study hypothesizes that these inflammatory responses might influence the incidence and severity of postoperative acute kidney injury (AKI), potentially serving as a protective mechanism by preconditioning the kidney to stress. METHODS: This retrospective study enrolled patients with preoperative renal dysfunction (eGFR between 15 and 60 ml/min/1.73 m²) who underwent cardiac surgery between January 2020 and December 2022. Preoperative inflammatory biomarkers were evaluated. The primary outcome was the incidence of postoperative AKI, as defined by the Kidney Disease: Improving Global Outcomes (KDIGO) criteria. Multivariate regression models and sensitivity analyses were conducted to ascertain the relationship between inflammatory biomarkers and AKI. Restricted cubic spines (RCS) was conducted to explore nonlinear associations between inflammatory biomarkers and AKI. RESULTS: AKI occurred in 53.4% (392/734) of patients, accompanied by significant mortality and length of hospital stay increases in cases of AKI (P < 0.005). After full adjustment of confounders, neutrophil percentage-to-albumin ratio (OR = 0.28), systemic inflammation response index (OR = 0.70), systemic immune inflammation index (OR = 0.69), neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (OR = 0.70), monocyte/high-density lipoprotein cholesterol ratio (OR = 0.53), neutrophil/high-density lipoprotein cholesterol ratio (OR = 0.43) demonstrated an inverse association with AKI. Sensitivity analyses revealed that patients in the highest quartile of these biomarkers exhibited a significantly lower prevalence of AKI compared to those in the lowest quartile (p for trend < 0.05). The RCS analysis suggested an "Inverted U-shaped" association of both LnNPAR and LnSIRI with AKI. CONCLUSIONS: This study identified an inverse association between preoperative inflammatory biomarkers and postoperative AKI in patients with preoperative renal dysfunction. The findings implied that preoperative inflammation may play a protective role against postoperative AKI in this patient population undergoing cardiac surgery.

Organoids play pivotal roles in uncovering the molecular mechanisms underlying organogenesis, intercellular communication, and high-throughput drug screening. Testicular organoids are essential for exploring the genetic and epigenetic regulation of spermatogenesis in vivo and the treatment of male infertility. However, the formation of testicular organoids with full spermatogenesis has not yet been achieved. In this study, neonatal mouse testicular cells were isolated by two-step enzymatic digestion, and they were combined with Matrigel and transplanted subcutaneously into nude mice. Histological examination (H&E) staining and immunohistochemistry revealed that cell grafts assembled to form seminiferous tubules that contained spermatogonial stem cells (SSCs) and Sertoli cells, as illustrated by the co-expression of PLZF (a hallmark for SSCs) and SOX9 (a marker for Sertoli cells) as well as the co-expression of UCHL1 (a hallmark for SSCs) and SOX9, after 8 weeks of transplantation. At 10 weeks of transplantation, SSCs could proliferate and differentiate into spermatocytes as evidenced by the expression of PCNA, Ki67, c-Kit, SYCP3, γ-HA2X, and MLH1. Notably, testicular organoids were seen, and spermatids were observed within the lumen of testicular organoids after 16 weeks of transplantation, as shown by the presence of TNP1 and ACROSIN (hallmarks for spermatids). Collectively, these results implicate that we successfully established testicular organoids with spermatogenesis in vivo. This study thus provides an excellent platform for unveiling the mechanisms underlying mammalian spermatogenesis, and it might offer valuable male gametes for treating male infertility.

The distribution patterns and accumulation mechanisms of plant and microbial residues, along with their potential contributions to soil organic carbon (SOC), remain subjects of considerable debate, particularly within drawdown areas affected by reservoir operation. In this study, surface soil samples (0-10 cm) were collected from three different elevations within the drawdown area of the Three Gorges Reservoir. Amino sugars and lignin phenols served as biomarkers for microbial residues and plant-derived materials, respectively. The results revealed that with increasing duration of flooding, the content of amino sugars increased from 0.26 mg g-1 to 0.64 mg g-1, whereas the content of lignin phenols decreased from 204.09 mg kg-1 to 37.93 mg kg-1. Moreover, as the duration of flooding increased, the contribution of microbial necromass carbon (MNC) to SOC rose from 29% to 47%, while the contribution of plant-derived carbon to SOC gradually declined. Plants biomass and iron minerals influenced the accumulation of lignin phenols, whereas amino sugars were affected by plants biomass, microbial biomass carbon and nitrogen, and clay minerals. The periodic flooding and drying events induced alterations in carbon inputs and environmental characteristics within the drawdown area, resulting in fluctuations in the contributions of plants and MNC to SOC in this region. The findings of this study highlight the critical role played by both plant- and microbial-derived carbon in the retention and turnover of SOC within the terrestrial-aquatic transition zone.

Cervical cancer, CC, is one of the malignant cancers in women worldwide. Many studies about the genesis and progression of CC have been done at genomic, transcriptional, translational, and epigenetic levels. However, much less is done at post-translational modification (PTM) level. We first used pan-PTM antibodies to compare the pan PTM levels between clinical normal cervical tissues and CC tissues; we then sent the selected samples for label-free identification of acetylation sites. Next, we employed WT or K119A mutant PARP1-EGFP-STREPII plasmid transfection in Hela cells and examined various indexes including colony formation, wound healing, ROS generation, early apoptosis, and immunofluorescence and quantification of proliferation markers (Ki67, PCNA, and p-P53). Last, we examined the levels of multiple important kinases regulating cervical cancer progression. We found that pan-acetylation was the most downregulated in clinical CC samples, whereas the acetylation of PARP1, Poly(ADP-ribose) polymerase-1, was upregulated at K119. Next, we showed that PARP1-WT overexpression significantly suppressed the proliferation and progression in CC cell line Hela, while K119A overexpression didn't show any impact. Finally, PARP1-WT overexpression significantly decreased p-ERK1/2 while didn't affect the phosphorylation levels of other important kinases such as AKT, MTOR, and RPS6. This study discovered a new type of PTM of PARP1 in CC, and showed that PARP1 acetylation at K119 is essential in regulating the proliferation and progression of CC through ERK1/2. Further studies are required to investigate how PARP1 acetylation impact its function.

Exploring the response of leaf anatomical structure to climate warming is helpful for understanding the adaptive mechanisms of trees to climate change. We conducted a warming experiment by transplanting seedlings of Larix gmelinii from 11 provenances to two common gardens, and examined the response of leaf anatomical structure to climate warming. The results showed that warming significantly increased leaf thickness (TL), upper epidermal mesophyll thickness (TUEM), lower epidermal mesophyll thickness (TLEM), endodermal thickness (TE), vascular bundle diameter (DVB), transfer tissue thickness (TTT), and the percentage of mesophyll thickness to TL(PMT), and significantly decreased the upper epidermal thickness (TUE) and the percentage of epidermal thickness to TL (PE). The mesophyll thickness was positively associated with chlorophyll concentration and maximum net photosynthetic rate. The responses of TL, TUEM, TLEM, TE, DVB, TTT, TUE, PMT and PE to warming differed among all the provenances.As the aridity index of the original site increased, the magnitude of the warming treatment's effect decreased for TL, TUEM, TLEM, TTT and PMT, and increased for TUE and PE. Warming increased the thickness and proportion of profit tissue (e.g., mesophyll) and decreased the thickness and proportion of defensive tissue (e.g., epidermis), and those changes varied among provenances. L. gmelinii could adapt to climate warming by adjusting leaf anatomical structure, and this ability was weak for trees from provenance with high aridity index.

OBJECTIVE: To explore effective exercise types for reducing chronic inflammation in individuals with overweight and obesity (IOO) while accounting for confounders. METHODS: A systematic search for RCTs in English between January 2000 and August 2023 was conducted to evaluating exercise effects on inflammatory biomarkers in IOO. A network meta-analysis conducted. RESULTS: A total of 123 RCTs were analyzed. Different exercise type yielded distinct effects on various inflammatory biomarkers. Specifically, aerobic exercise combined with resistance training (COM) and aerobic exercise (AE) were the most effective for improving leptin levels. AE exhibited the greatest effectiveness in reducing CRP and increasing adiponectin. High-intensity interval training (HIIT) was identified as the most effective exercise modality for ameliorating IL-6, TNF-α, and IL-10. Resistance training (RT) had the least effect compared to other exercise types. Meta regression and subgroup analyses revealed that high-intensity AE demonstrated a greater effect size compared to moderate-intensity AE. The impact of AE on IL-10 was positively associated with both the training period and the age of participants. Positive correlations were observed between reductions in body fat and the effect sizes of CRP, TNF-α, and IL-10. Gender influenced AE effects on IL-6 and TNF-α, with females responding better. CONCLUSION: This study highlights the potential of exercise in alleviating the inflammatory status in IOO, with different exercise types showing various effects on specific inflammatory biomarkers. The intensity and duration of exercise had a dose-response relationship with intervention effectiveness. Changes in body composition correlated with the effectiveness of the intervention. COM, AE, and HIIT are recommended exercise approaches.

Enteritis caused by Vibrio is a highly die-off disease that severely impeded substantial production in seahorse aquaculture. In the present study, challenged with LD50 of concentration of Vibrio harveyi, a total of 161 of susceptible and 166 of resistant individuals were allocated into binary survival phenotypes, thus, to firstly investigate the genetic architecture by genome-wide association study (GWAS) analysis, as well as to evaluate the feasibility of genomic selection (GS) in enteritis disease resistance trait of the lined seahorse Hippocampus erectus. Results indicated that the heritability for resistance to Vibrio harveyi was estimated to be 0.10. And a set of 10 significant/suggestive SNPs in a multiple chromosomes localization were identified, explaining 7.76% to 13.28% of genetic variance. Associated 82 of candidate genes were clustered into signal transduction, cell proliferation, response of external stress, bacteria defence, and anti-inflammatory processes. Moreover, the potential performance of genomic selection (GS) in application in selective breeding for enteritis disease resistance seahorses was assessed by genomic prediction (GP). In general, the predictive accuracy of the genomic estimated breeding value (GEBV) of BayesC exceeded the rrBLUP, BayesA, RKHS, and SVM models while with no significant difference. And the GWAS-informative SNPs was significantly superior in efficience than random selected markers by comparison of predictive performance on different selection strategies of SNPs. Overall, the genetic basis of enteritis disease resistance trait in the lined seahorse is a polygenic genetic architecture. SNPs associated with the important genes of cathepsin L1-like previously reported with respect to disease resistance are consider as potential molecular markers of genetic breeding. Furthermore, GS approach is an appropriate, effective, and less-cost application in breeding enteritis disease-resistant seahorses.
