Although Platinum (Pt)-based alloys have garnered significant interest within the realm of direct methanol fuel cells (DMFCs), there still exists a notable dearth in the exploration of the catalytic behavior of the liquid fuels on well-defined active sites and unavoidable Pt poisoning because of the adsorbed CO species (COads). Here, we propose an electronegativity-induced electronic redistribution strategy to optimize the adsorption of crucial intermediates for the methanol oxidation reaction (MOR) by introducing the Co element to form the PtCo alloys. The optimal PtCo hollow nanospheres (HNSs) exhibit excellent high-quality activity of 3.27 A mgPt-1, which is 11.6 times and 13.1 times higher than that of Pt/C and pure Pt, respectively. The in-situ Fourier transform infrared reflection spectroscopy validates that electron redistribution could weak CO adsorption, and subsequently decrease the CO poisoning adjacent the Pt active sites. Theoretical simulations result show that the introduction of Co optimize surface electronic structure and reduce the d-band center of Pt, thus optimized the adsorption behavior of COads. This study not only employs a straightforward method for the preparation of Pt-based alloys but also delineates a pathway toward designing advanced active sites for MOR via electronegativity-induced electronic redistribution.

Lenvatinib is a targeted drug used for first-line treatment of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). A deeper insight into the resistance mechanism of HCC against lenvatinib is urgently needed. In this study, we aimed to dissect the underlying mechanism of lenvatinib resistance (LR) and provide effective treatment strategies. We established an HCC model of acquired LR. Cell counting, migration, self-renewal ability, chemoresistance and expression of stemness genes were used to detect the stemness of HCC cells. Molecular and biochemical strategies such as RNA-sequencing, immunoprecipitation, mass spectrometry and ubiquitination assays were used to explore the underlying mechanisms. Patient-derived HCC models and HCC samples from patients were used to demonstrate clinical significance. We identified that increased cancer stemness driven by the hypoxia-inducible factor-1α (HIF-1α) pathway activation is responsible for acquired LR in HCC. Phosphorylated non-muscle myosin heavy chain 9 (MYH9) at Ser1943, p-MYH9 (Ser1943), could recruit ubiquitin-specific protease 22 (USP22) to deubiquitinate and stabilize HIF-1α in lenvatinib-resistant HCC. Clinically, p-MYH9 (Ser1943) expression was upregulated in HCC samples, which predicted poor prognosis and LR. A casein kinase-2 (CK2) inhibitor and a USP22 inhibitor effectively reversed LR in vivo and in vitro. Therefore, the p-MYH9 (Ser1943)/USP22/HIF-1α axis is critical for LR and cancer stemness. For the diagnosis and treatment of LR in HCC, p-MYH9 (Ser1943), USP22, and HIF-1α might be valuable as novel biomarkers and targets.

BACKGROUND: Radiation-induced skin injury is a significant adverse reaction to radiotherapy. However, there is a lack of effective prevention and treatment methods for this complication. Ferulic acid (FA) has been identified as an effective anti-radiation agent. Conventional administrations of FA limit the reaching of it on skin. We aimed to develop a novel FA hydrogel to facilitate the use of FA in radiation-induced skin injury. METHODS: We cross-linked carbomer 940, a commonly used adjuvant, with FA at concentrations of 5%, 10%, and 15%. Sweep source optical coherence tomography system, a novel skin structure evaluation method, was applied to investigate the influence of FA on radiation-induced skin injury. Calcein-AM/PI staining, CCK8 assay, hemolysis test and scratch test were performed to investigate the biocompatibility of FA hydrogel. The reducibility of DPPH and ABTS radicals by FA hydrogel was also performed. HE staining, Masson staining, laser Doppler blood flow monitor, and OCT imaging system are used to evaluate the degree of skin tissue damage. Potential differentially expressed genes were screened via transcriptome analysis. RESULTS: Good biocompatibility and in vitro antioxidant ability of the FA hydrogels were observed. 10% FA hydrogel presented a better mechanical stability than 5% and 15% FA hydrogel. All three concentrations of FA remarkably promoted the recovery of radiation-induced skin injury by reducing inflammation, oxidative conidiation, skin blood flow, and accelerating skin tissue reconstruction, collagen deposition. FA hydrogel greatly inhibiting the levels of NLRP3, caspase-1, IL-18, pro-IL-1ß and IL-1ß in vivo and vitro levels through restraining the activation of NLRP3 inflammasome. Transcriptome analysis indicated that FA might regulate wound healing via targeting immune response, inflammatory response, cell migration, angiogenesis, hypoxia response, and cell matrix adhesion. CONCLUSIONS: These findings suggest that the novel FA hydrogel is a promising therapeutic method for the prevention and treatment of radiation-induced skin injury patients.

To explore machine learning (ML)-based breast tumor peritumoral (P) and intratumoral ultrasound radiomics signatures (IURS) for predicting axillary response to neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NAC) in patients with breast cancer (BC) with node-positive. A total of 435 patients were divided into hormone receptor (HR)+/human epidermal growth factor receptor (HER)2-, HER2+, and triple-negative (TN) subtypes. ML classifiers including random forest (RF), support vector machine (SVM), and linear discriminant analysis (LDA) were applied to construct PURS, IURS, and the combined P-IURS radiomics models. SVM of the TN subtype obtained the most favorable performance with an AUC of 0.917 (95%CI: 0.859, 0.960) in PURS models, RF of the HER2+ subtype yielded the highest efficacy in IURS models [AUC = 0.935 (95%CI: 0.843, 0.976)]. The RF-based combined P-IURS model of the HER2+ subtype improved the efficacy to a maximum AUC of 0.952 (95%CI: 0.868, 0.994). ML-based US radiomics can be a promising biomarker to predict axillary response.

Protein grass hay (PGH) was used as a new feed source for lambs to study its effect on fattening performance and meat quality. Fifty-six male lambs were allotted to four experimental groups and fed for eight weeks either alfalfa hay (AH)-based diet (control) or diets in which AH was replaced with 33 %, 66 %, or 99 % PGH. The inclusion of PGH did not affect final body weight, dry matter intake, average daily gain, feed conversion ratio, or carcass weight. Moreover, substituting AH with PGH at any level did not influence the ruminal fermentation or serum biochemical parameters, meat color, water holding capacity, shear force, or amino acid profile. However, relative liver weight was increased with 66 % substitutions. Furthermore, replacing 99 % AH with PGH decreased the meat's pH at 24 h. Higher levels of C18:3n-3, C20:5n-3, and total n-3 PUFA and a lower ratio of n-6: n-3 PUFA were also observed in meat from lambs fed PGH at 99 %. These findings suggest that PGH could be incorporated into the lamb's diet up to 99 % without compromising fattening performance and body health while improving their meat n-3 PUFA deposition.

OBJECTIVES: Given the limited tocilizumab (TCZ) treatment data for systemic juvenile idiopathic arthritis (sJIA) in China, we evaluated the long-term efficacy and safety of TCZ in Chinese patients with sJIA. METHOD: In this multicentre, interventional Phase IV study, patients with sJIA and inadequate clinical response to non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs/corticosteroids received TCZ infusions every 2 weeks based on body weight (< 30 kg, 12 mg/kg; ≥ 30 kg, 8 mg/kg), over a 52-week open-label period and an 8-week safety follow-up period. The primary endpoint was the proportion of patients with a JIA American College of Rheumatology (ACR) 30 response and absence of fever at Week 12. RESULTS: Sixty-two patients were enrolled and treated (12-mg/kg group, 34; 8-mg/kg group, 28). At Week 12, 87.1% (95% confidence interval 78.8%-95.4%) of patients had JIA ACR 30 response and absence of fever; Week 52 results were similar. The proportion of JIA ACR 30/50/70/90 responders rapidly increased at Week 12, up to Week 52. High-sensitivity C-reactive protein (hsCRP) levels decreased within 4 weeks; 44/58 patients (75.9%) with elevated baseline hsCRP recovered at Week 52. Childhood Health Assessment Questionnaire pain scores, disability index scores, and mean corticosteroid dose decreased over time. Height standard deviation score changes at Week 52 indicated catch-up growth. Most adverse events (AEs) were mild (serious AE incidence, 17.7%). No deaths or macrophage activation syndrome occurred. CONCLUSION: This is the first multicentre trial to report the efficacy and safety of TCZ in Chinese patients with sJIA at 52 weeks. No new safety concerns were found.

Background: COVID-19, as a significant public health issue, has had a major impact on the mental health of people worldwide. Research shows a significant positive correlation between individuals' risk perception levels and negative emotions during the outbreak of COVID-19. However, some studies also suggest that the relationship between the two is not significant. Therefore, we will conduct a meta-analysis to explore the relationship between risk perception and negative emotions from cultural, temporal, and individual psychological perspectives. Methods: Searches were conducted in the Web of Science, Pub Med, Google Scholar, PsycINFO, Scopus, and China National Knowledge Infrastructure databases, focusing on publications from January 2020 onwards, specifically targeting studies examining the relationship between risk perception and negative emotion during COVID-19. Results: A total of 58 papers with 85 effect sizes were meta-analyzed using Comprehensive Meta-Analysis 3.0 software, with a combined sample of 83,948 individuals. Risk perception of COVID-19 showed a moderate positive correlation with negative emotions (r = 0.211, 95%CI [0.18, 0.24]). There was no moderating effect of tight-loose cultures on the relationship between risk perception of COVID-19 and negative emotions. However, the epidemic period, gender ratio, and measurement methods did have moderating effects on the relationship between risk perception of COVID-19 and negative emotions. Conclusion: In future research, we can further develop theories related to the risk perception of COVID-19 and negative emotions, and based on these, formulate interventions to promote people's mental health.

INTRODUCTION: Venous thromboembolism (VTE) poses a significant risk in colorectal cancer surgeries due to hypercoagulability and the anatomical challenges of the pelvic cavity. With the advancement of minimally invasive techniques, intraoperative strategies for preventing VTE may prove to be effective. This study explores the effects of intraoperative pneumoperitoneum pressures on VTE incidence following colorectal cancer surgeries. METHODS: This single center parallel randomized controlled double-blind, trial involved 302 patients undergoing elective laparoscopic or robotic colorectal surgery. Patients were randomized to either a standard pneumoperitoneum pressure group (SP: 15 mmHg) or a low-pressure group (LP: 10 mmHg). Primary outcomes measured were the incidence of VTE, including symptomatic and asymptomatic DVT and PE. Secondary outcomes included postoperative D-dimer levels, surgery duration, blood loss, surgeon satisfaction, and oncological quality. RESULTS: Out of 302 randomized patients, 275 were evaluable post exclusions, with 138 in the SP group and 137 in the LP group. The incidence of VTE was 10.9 % in the SP and 13.9 % in the LP group, with no significant difference between the two (P = 0.450). Secondary outcomes such as D-dimer levels, surgery duration, and blood loss showed no significant differences between two groups. Surgeon satisfaction and oncological outcomes were similarly comparable. CONCLUSIONS: The trial demonstrated no significant difference in the incidence of VTE between standard and low pneumoperitoneum pressures. This suggests that lower pressures may not necessarily provide a benefit in reducing postoperative VTE in colorectal cancer surgeries.

Electrokinetic surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy (EK-SERS) is an emerging high-order analytical technique that combines the plasmonic sensitivity of SERS with the electrode interfacial molecular control of electrokinetics. However, previous EK-SERS works primarily focused on non-Faradaic direct current (DC) operation, limiting the understanding of the underlying mechanisms. Additionally, developing reliable EK-SERS devices with electrically connected plasmonic hotspots remains challenging for achieving high sensitivity and reproducibility in EK-SERS measurements. In this study, we investigated the use of two-tier nanolaminate nano-optoelectrode arrays (NL-NOEAs) for DC and alternating current (AC) EK-SERS measurements of charged analyte molecules in ionic solutions. The NL-NOEAs consist of Au/Ag/Au multilayered plasmonic nanostructures on conductive nanocomposite nanopillar arrays (NC-NPAs). We demonstrate that the NL-NOEAs exhibit high SERS enhancement factors (EFs) of ∼106 and can be used to modulate the concentration and orientation of Rhodamine 6G (R6G) molecules at the electrode surface by applying DC and AC voltages. We also performed numerical simulations to investigate the ion and R6G dynamics near the electrode surface under DC and AC voltage modulation. Our results show that AC EK-SERS can provide additional insights into the dynamics of molecular transport and adsorption processes compared to DC EK-SERS. This study demonstrates the potential of NL-NOEAs for developing high-performance EK-SERS sensors for a wide range of applications.

BACKGROUND: Internet gaming disorder (IGD), recognized by the World Health Organization (WHO), significantly impacts adolescent mental and physical health. With a global prevalence of 3.05%, rates are higher in Asia, especially among adolescents and males. The COVID-19 pandemic has exacerbated IGD due to increased gaming time from isolation and anxiety. Vulnerable groups include adolescents with poor academic performance, introverted personalities, and comorbid mental disorders. IGD mechanisms remain unclear, lacking prospective research. Based on Skinner's reinforcement theory, the purpose of this study is to explore the mechanisms of IGD from individual and environmental perspectives, incorporating age-related changes and game features, and to develop intelligent monitoring models for early intervention in high-risk adolescents. METHODS: This prospective cohort study will investigate IGD mechanisms in middle and high school students in Shenzhen, China. Data will be collected via online surveys and Python-based web scraping, with a 3-year follow-up and assessments every 6 months. Unstructured data obtained through Python-based web scraping will be structured using natural language processing techniques. Collected data will include personal characteristics, gaming usage, academic experiences, and psycho-behavioral-social factors. Baseline data will train and test predictive models, while follow-up data will validate them. Data preprocessing, normalization, and analysis will be performed. Predictive models, including Cox proportional hazards and Weibull regression, will be evaluated through cross-validation, confusion matrix, receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve, area under the curve (AUC), and root mean square error (RMSE). DISCUSSION: The study aims to understand the interplay between individual and environmental factors in IGD, incorporating age-related changes and game features. Active monitoring and early intervention are critical for preventing IGD. Despite limitations in geographic scope and biological data collection, the study's innovative design and methodologies offer valuable contributions to public health, promoting effective interventions for high-risk individuals.

Exploring the impact of low-temperature storage on the fitness of natural enemy insects is crucial for practical field applications because this parameter directly influences their potential for population growth and effective pest control. Eocanthecona furcellata (Wolff) (Hemiptera: Pentatomidae) is widely used in biological pest control. This study aimed to identify optimal storage stages, temperatures, and durations for E. furcellata to produce high-quality individuals for practical use. The quality of E. furcellata after storage was evaluated by assessing parameters such as predatory capacity and fecundity, along with age-stage, two-sex life table. The findings revealed that the adult stage was the optimal storage form for E. furcellata, and the most favorable temperature for storage was 12 °C. Adult females had the highest predatory ability after 15 days of storage at 12 °C. Although survival rates declined with prolonged storage, they remained above 50% after 30 days, and longevity, fecundity, and predatory capacity of surviving individuals remained comparable to those of individuals in the control group (rearing at a constant temperature of 26 °C without low-temperature storage). The effects of low-temperature storage extended to the F1 generation of E. furcellata, which exhibited maximum mean longevity, fecundity, net reproductive rate, and mean generation time as well as fastest population growth after 30 days of storage at 12 °C. These results can be used to achieve optimal low-temperature storage conditions for E. furcellata production, particularly for extending its shelf life.

The rice albumin (RAG) gene family belongs to the Tryp_alpha_amyl family. RAG2, specifically expressed in 14-21 DAP (days after pollination) seeds, regulates grain yield and quality. In this study, we identified another RAG family gene, RAL6, which exhibits specific expression in developing seeds, particularly in 7, 10, and 15 DAP seeds. Employing the CRISPR/Cas9 system, we analyzed functions of RAL6 and found that the ral6 lines (ral6-1, ral6-2, ral6-3, and ral6-4) displayed thinner seeds with significantly decreased 1000-grain weight and grain thickness compared to ZH11. Additionally, the cell width of spikelet cells, total protein and glutelin contents were significantly reduced in ral6. The germination assay and 1% TTC staining revealed a significant decrease in seed vigor among the ral6 lines. The alpha-amylase activity in ral6 mutant seeds was also markedly lower than in ZH11 seeds after 2 days of imbibition. Furthermore, co-expression analysis and GO annotation showed that co-expressed genes were involved in immune response, oligopeptide transport, and the glucan biosynthetic process. Collectively, our findings suggest that RAL6 plays a coordinating role in regulating grain weight and seed germination in rice.

The Ti3C2 quantum dots (QDs)/oxygen-vacancy-rich BiOBr hollow microspheres composite photocatalyst was prepared using solvothermal synthesis and electrostatic self-assembly techniques. Together, Ti3C2QDs and oxygen vacancies (OVs) enhanced photocatalytic activity by broadening light absorption and improving charge transfer and separation processes, resulting in a significant performance boost. Meanwhile, the photocatalytic efficiency of Ti3C2 QDs/BiOBr-OVs is assessed to investigate its capability for oxygen evolution and degradation of tetracycline (TC) and Rhodamine B (RhB) under visible-light conditions. The rate of oxygen production is observed to be 5.1 times higher than that of pure BiOBr-OVs, while the photocatalytic degradation rates for TC and RhB is up to 97.27% and 99.8%, respectively. The synergistic effect between Ti3C2QDs and OVs greatly enhances charge separation, leading to remarkable photocatalytic activity. Furthermore, the hollow microsphere contributes to the enhanced photocatalytic performance by facilitating multiple light scatterings and providing ample surface-active sites. The resultant Ti3C2QDs/BiOBr-OVs composite photocatalyst demonstrates significant potential for environmental applications.

BACKGROUD: Supernatants from various cytological samples, including body cavity effusion, sputum, bronchoalveolar lavage fluid (BALF), and needle aspiration, have been validated for detecting genetic alterations using cell-free DNA (cfDNA) in patients with non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). However, the sensitivity of fusion variations detection remains challenging. The protection of cell-free RNA (cfRNA) is critical for resolving the issue. METHODS: A protective solution (PS) was applied for preserving cfRNA in cytological supernatant (CS), and the quality of protected cfRNA was assessed by cycle threshold (CT) values from reverse transcription quantitative polymerase chain reaction (RT-qPCR). Furthermore, we collected an additional set of malignant cytological and matched tumor samples from 84 NSCLC patients, cfDNA & cfRNA extraction and double detection for driver gene mutations was validated using the multi-gene mutations detection by RT-qPCR. RESULTS: Under the optimal protection system, 91.0% (101/111) of cfRNA were protected effectively. Among the 84 NSCLC patient samples, seven cytological samples failed the tests. In comparison with tumor samples, the overall sensitivity and specificity of detecting driver genes of supernatant cfDNA and cfRNA were 93.8% (74/77) and 100% (77/77), respectively. Notably, when focusing exclusively on patients with fusion gene changes, both sensitivity and specificity reached 100% (11/11) for EML4-ALK, ROS1, RET fusions, and MET ex14 skipping. CONCLUSION: These findings suggest that cfDNA & cfRNA extraction and double detection strategy recommended in this study improve the accuracy of driver genes mutations test, especially for RNA-based assay.

The deterioration of aroma quality in tea beverages during the shelf life is a significant issue. In this study, sensomics techniques were employed to identify the characteristic factor contributing to aroma degradation in green tea infusion. Samples A (no/faint retort odor) and B (high intensity retort odor) were selected based on their retort-like odor intensity after heat treatment simulating shelf-life conditions. The key odorants were identified through a combination of chemometrics analysis, comparative aromatic extract dilution analysis (cAEDA), detection frequency analysis (DFA), and odor-specific magnitude estimation (OSME). Subsequently, eight odorants, including linalool (892.451 µg/L), (E)-ß-damascenone (5.105 µg/L), phenylacetaldehyde (27.720 µg/L), nonanal (2201.439 µg/L), α-terpineol (7.166 µg/L), geraniol (0.499 µg/L), theaspirane (0.044 µg/L), and 2-hydroxy-5-methylacetophenone (2.973 µg/L), were identified as the key substances contributing to the retort-like odor in sample B. Aroma recombination and omission test further demonstrated that elevated concentrations of nonanal, geraniol, phenylacetaldehyde, and theaspirane might be the primary reasons for the retort odor observed in samples.

Captured colonoscopy videos usually suffer from multiple real-world distortions, such as motion blur, low brightness, abnormal exposure, and object occlusion, which impede visual interpretation. However, existing works mainly investigate the impacts of synthesized distortions, which differ from real-world distortions greatly. This research aims to carry out an in-depth study for colonoscopy Video Quality Assessment (VQA). In this study, we advance this topic by establishing both subjective and objective solutions. Firstly, we collect 1,000 colonoscopy videos with typical visual quality degradation conditions in practice and construct a multi-attribute VQA database. The quality of each video is annotated by subjective experiments from five distortion attributes (i.e., temporal-spatial visibility, brightness, specular reflection, stability, and utility), as well as an overall perspective. Secondly, we propose a Distortion Attribute Reasoning Network (DARNet) for automatic VQA. DARNet includes two streams to extract features related to spatial and temporal distortions, respectively. It adaptively aggregates the attribute-related features through a multi-attribute association module to predict the quality score of each distortion attribute. Motivated by the observation that the rating behaviors for all attributes are different, a behavior guided reasoning module is further used to fuse the attribute-aware features, resulting in the overall quality. Experimental results on the constructed database show that our DARNet correlates well with subjective ratings and is superior nine state-of-the-art methods.

BACKGROUND: The kidney is exceptionally vulnerable during sepsis, often resulting in sepsis-associated acute kidney injury (SA-AKI), a condition that not only escalates morbidity but also significantly raises sepsis-related mortality rates. Circular RNA circ_001653 has been previously reported to be upregulated in the serum of SA-AKI patients, while the role and underlying mechanism of circ_001653 in SA-AKI remains unknown. In this study, we aimed to explore the functional role and the molecular mechanism of circ_001653 in the pathogenesis of SA-AKI. METHODS: LPS-stimulated HK-2 cells and ligation and perforation of cecum (CLP)-induced rats were used as in vitro and in vivo models of SA-AKI. The target gene expression levels were measured using qRT-PCR and western blot. Renal function (BUN, sCr, uNGAL, and uKIM-1), and renal pathological changes were detected in septic mice. TUNEL and EdU assays were conducted to measure apoptosis and proliferation rates in vitro. DCFH-DA staining was used to detect ROS levels in vitro and in vivo. Oxidative stress markers (SOD, GSH-Px, MDA, and SOD), and inflammation markers (IL-1ß, IL-6, and TNF-α) were determined using commercial kits both in vitro and in vivo. Additionally, gain-and-loss-of-function assays and mechanistic experiments were conducted to explore the regulatory role of circ_001653 in SA-AKI pathogenesis. RESULTS: Data showed that circ_001653 expression was high in LPS-stimulated HK-2 cells and CLP-induced rat renal tissue and was mainly localized in the cytoplasm. Notably, circ_001653 silencing alleviated SA-AKI by reducing apoptosis and alleviating oxidative stress and inflammation in HK-2 cells and renal tissue of rats. Mechanistically, it was found that circ_001653 alleviated SA-AKI by recruiting BUD13 to activate the KEAP1/Nrf2/HO-1 signaling pathway. CONCLUSIONS: To summarize, our study is the first to reveal elevated expression of circ_001653 in sepsis-associated AKI, and its downregulation effectively attenuates AKI by reducing apoptosis, inflammation, and oxidative stress. Mechanistically, circ_001653 exerts its effects by recruiting BUD13 to activate the KEAP1/Nrf2/HO-1 signaling pathway. These findings suggest circ_001653 as a potential therapeutic target for the drug development of sepsis-associated AKI.

BACKGROUNDS: There are multiple risk factors for preterm birth (PTB), one of the most important of which is mood disorders during pregnancy. We aimed to comprehensively investigate the association of both total mental health concerns and ten specific psychiatric symptoms with PTB risk. METHODS: A cohort study was performed consisting of 25,175 pregnant women who participated in Women and Children's Hospital of Chongqing Medical University between 2020 and 2022. The Symptom Checklist 90 (SCL-90) was utilized to assess the psychiatric symptoms. Multivariable or multinomial logistic regression was applied to investigate mental health concerns associated with risk of PTB or its different clinical sub-categories, respectively. Sensitivity analyses were further performed to validate the results. RESULTS: 8336 women who met the inclusion criteria were included; of these, 547 (6.6 %) had preterm deliveries, and 2542 (30.5 %) had mental health concerns. Compared with women with healthy minds, women with total mental health concerns had a 29.0 % higher risk of overall PTB (OR = 1.28, 95%CI = 1.07-1.54), medical-induced PTB (OR = 1.49, 95%CI = 1.05-2.13) and spontaneous PTB with premature rupture of membranes (OR = 1.33, 95%CI = 1.01-1.74). As to the specific psychological symptoms, hostility pregnant women had a 55.0 % higher risk of PTB (OR = 1.55, 95%CI = 1.14-2.11). Similar results were observed in most of the sensitivity analyses. LIMITATIONS: This is a single-center study, thus the extrapolation of the results may be limited. CONCLUSIONS: Pregnant women with mental health symptoms, especially hostility, have an increased risk of PTB. The findings underscore that integrating mental health services into routine maternal care may be a strategy to prevent PTB.
