BACKGROUND: To explore an artificial intelligence (AI) technology employing YOLOv8 for quality control (QC) on elbow joint radiographs. METHODS: From January 2022 to August 2023, 2643 consecutive elbow radiographs were collected and randomly assigned to the training, validation, and test sets in a 6:2:2 ratio. We proposed the anteroposterior (AP) and lateral (LAT) models to identify target detection boxes and key points on elbow radiographs using YOLOv8. These identifications were transformed into five quality standards: (1) AP elbow positioning coordinates (XA and YA); (2) olecranon fossa positioning distance parameters (S17 and S27); (3) key points of joint space (Y3, Y4, Y5 and Y6); (4) LAT elbow positioning coordinates (X2 and Y2); and (5) flexion angle. Models were trained and validated using 2,120 radiographs. A test set of 523 radiographs was used for assessing the agreement between AI and physician and to evaluate clinical efficiency of models. RESULTS: The AP and LAT models demonstrated high precision, recall, and mean average precision for identifying boxes and points. AI and physicians showed high intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC) in evaluating: AP coordinates XA (0.987) and YA (0.991); olecranon fossa parameters S17 (0.964) and S27 (0.951); key points Y3 (0.998), Y4 (0.997), Y5 (0.998) and Y6 (0.959); LAT coordinates X2 (0.994) and Y2 (0.986); and flexion angle (0.865). Compared to manual methods, using AI, QC time was reduced by 43% for AP images and 45% for LAT images (p < 0.001). CONCLUSION: YOLOv8-based AI technology is feasible for QC of elbow radiography with high performance. RELEVANCE STATEMENT: This study proposed and validated a YOLOv8-based AI model for automated quality control in elbow radiography, obtaining high efficiency in clinical settings. KEY POINTS: QC of elbow joint radiography is important for detecting diseases. Models based on YOLOv8 are proposed and perform well in image QC. Models offer objective and efficient solutions for QC in elbow joint radiographs.

BACKGROUND: The impact of lowering systolic blood pressure (SBP) following endovascular treatment (EVT) in acute large vessel occlusion stroke (LVOS) patients remains unclear. We aimed to explore the effect of the magnitude of SBP reduction (SBPr) after EVT on outcomes in LVOS patients. METHODS: We consecutively registered patients at three comprehensive stroke centres who had experienced EVT as a result of acute anterior circulation LVOS. SBPr was calculated as follows: (baseline SBP-mean SBP/baseline SBP)×100%. The 90-day modified Rankin Scale score ranging from 0 to 2 was defined as a favourable functional outcome. Based on CT scans obtained within 24 hours after procedure, symptomatic intracranial haemorrhage (sICH) was assessed according to the criteria of the European Cooperative Acute Stroke Study III. RESULTS: We enrolled 1080 patients, of which 908 (84.1%) had successful recanalisation. In the overall cohort, SBPr was correlated with lower odds of sICH (SBPr±10% as a reference, 20%-30%: OR 0.460; 95% CI: 0.245 to 0.864; p=0.016; >30%: OR 0.304; 95% CI 0.123 to 0.749; p=0.010). In patients who achieved successful reperfusion, SBPr>30% was correlated with higher odds of a poor outcome (SBPr±10% as a reference, OR 2.150; 95% CI 1.268 to 3.645; p=0.004) and SBPr has a similar tendency towards reducing the incidence of sICH. In the subgroup analyses, baseline Alberta Stroke Programme Early CT (ASPECT) score (pinteract=0.024) modified the effect of SBPr on the 90-day outcome. CONCLUSION: Among patients with EVT, a significant drop in SBP may be related to a poor functional outcome and a reduced incidence of sICH. Baseline ASPECT score may be an important interacting factor in the association of SBPr with the 90-day outcome. This study provides new insights for individualised BP management in patients with EVT.

Importance: In several randomized clinical trials, endovascular thrombectomy led to better functional outcomes than conventional treatment at 90 days poststroke in patients with acute basilar artery occlusion. However, the long-term clinical outcomes of these patients have not been well delineated. Objective: To evaluate 1-year clinical outcomes in patients with acute basilar artery occlusion following endovascular thrombectomy vs control. Design, Setting, and Participants: This study is an extension of the ATTENTION trial, a multicenter, randomized clinical trial. Patients were included between February 2021 and January 2022, with 1-year follow-up through April 2023. This multicenter, population-based study was conducted at 36 comprehensive stroke sites. Patients with acute basilar artery occlusion within 12 hours of estimated symptom onset were included. Of the 342 patients randomized in the ATTENTION trial, 330 (96.5%) had 1-year follow-up information available. Exposures: Endovascular thrombectomy (thrombectomy group) vs best medical treatment (control group). Main Outcomes and Measures: The primary outcome was defined as a score of 0 to 3 on the modified Rankin Scale (mRS) at 1 year. Secondary outcomes were functional independence (mRS score 0-2), excellent outcome (mRS score 0-1), level of disability (distribution of all 7 mRS scores), mortality, and health-related quality of life at 1 year. Results: Among 330 patients who had 1-year follow-up data, 227 (68.8%) were male, and the mean (SD) age was 67.0 (10.7) years. An mRS score 0 to 3 at 1 year was achieved by 99 of 222 patients (44.6%) in the thrombectomy group and 21 of 108 (19.4%) in the control group (adjusted rate ratio, 2.23; 95% CI, 1.51-3.29). Mortality at 1 year compared with 90 days was more frequent in both the thrombectomy group (101 of 222 [45.5%] vs 83 of 226 [36.7%]) and the control group (69 of 108 [63.9%] vs 63 of 114 [55.3%]). Excellent outcome (mRS score 0-1) at 1 year compared with 90 days increased in the thrombectomy group (62 of 222 [27.9%] vs 45 of 226 [19.9%]) but not in the control group (9 of 108 [8.3%] vs 9 of 114 [7.9%]) resulting in a magnified treatment benefit. Conclusions and Relevance: Among patients with basilar artery occlusion within 12 hours of onset, the benefits of endovascular thrombectomy at 1 year compared with 90 days were sustained for favorable (mRS score 0-3) outcome and enhanced for excellent (mRS score 0-1) outcome.

BACKGROUND: Remnant cholesterol (RC) exert a significant influence on atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease development. However, the prognostic implications of RC in menopausal women received percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) who experiencing acute coronary syndrome (ACS) remain uncertain. METHODS: RC was derived by subtracting the sum of high-density lipoprotein cholesterol and low-density lipoprotein cholesterol from the total cholesterol. Kaplan-Meier survival and Cox regression analysis were employed for assessing the correlation between continuous RC levels and composite and individual adverse events in Q1-Q4 quartiles. Receiver operator characteristic (ROC) curves, derived from Cox regression, were employed for analyzing the relationship between RC and both composite and individual adverse events. RESULTS: 1505 consecutive menopausal women who underwent PCI and diagnosed with ACS were included. Kaplan-Meier survival analysis demonstrated a progressive reduction in composite adverse event survival rates across the four groups, observed in both the general population and among diabetic individuals, as RC values increased (Log-rank P < 0.001). The analysis of multivariate Cox regression indicated RC remained independently associated with both composite and individual adverse events. ROC analysis showed that RC enhanced the area under the curve both in total and diabetic populations for composite adverse events. CONCLUSION: Among menopausal women diagnosed with ACS who underwent PCI, heightened levels of RC were found to be independently correlated with an increased occurrence of adverse events.

PURPOSE: To develop and validate an end-to-end model for automatically predicting hematoma expansion (HE) after spontaneous intracerebral hemorrhage (sICH) using a novel deep learning framework. METHODS: This multicenter retrospective study collected cranial noncontrast computed tomography (NCCT) images of 490 patients with sICH at admission for model training (n = 236), internal testing (n = 60), and external testing (n = 194). A HE-Mind model was designed to predict HE, which consists of a densely connected U-net for segmentation process, a multi-instance learning strategy for resolving label ambiguity and a Siamese network for classification process. Two radiomics models based on support vector machine or logistic regression and two deep learning models based on residual network or Swin transformer were developed for performance comparison. Reader experiments including physician diagnosis mode and artificial intelligence mode were conducted for efficiency comparison. RESULTS: The HE-Mind model showed better performance compared to the comparative models in predicting HE, with areas under the curve of 0.849 and 0.809 in the internal and external test sets respectively. With the assistance of the HE-Mind model, the predictive accuracy and work efficiency of the emergency physician, junior radiologist, and senior radiologist were significantly improved, with accuracies of 0.768, 0.789, and 0.809 respectively, and reporting times of 7.26 s, 5.08 s, and 3.99 s respectively. CONCLUSIONS: The HE-Mind model could rapidly and automatically process the NCCT data and predict HE after sICH within three seconds, indicating its potential to assist physicians in the clinical diagnosis workflow of HE.

BACKGROUND: The first-pass effect (FPE) is linked to better safety and efficacy prognosis in patients with small- to- moderate sized ischemic infarctions. We evaluated the incidence, prognosis, and predictors of FPE in patients with large core infarctions (LCIs). METHODS: We conducted a post-hoc analysis of data from the Trial of Endovascular Therapy in Acute Anterior Circulation Large Vessel Occlusive Patients with a Large Infarct Core (ANGEL-ASPECT). The FPE was defined as a successful recanalization (expanded Thrombolysis in Cerebral Infarction (eTICI) 2 c/3, and eTICI 2b-3 as modified FPE (mFPE)) after one pass. The primary outcome was clinical functional independence, and the secondary outcomes were independent ambulation, assessed by the modified Rankin Scale (mRS) at 90 days. Safety outcomes included symptomatic intracranial hemorrhage (sICH) defined by the Heidelberg bleeding classification, any intracranial hemorrhage (ICH), and death within 90 days of stroke onset. RESULTS: Of the 226 patients in the study, FPE and mFPE were achieved in 33 (14.6%) and 82 (36.3%) patients, respectively. Patients with FPE exhibited shorter onset-to-puncture times (adjusted odds ratio [OR] 0.915; 95% confidence interval [CI]: 0.84 to 0.996), and patients with mFPE were older (OR 1.039; 95% CI: 1.005 to 1.075). mFPE was significantly associated with favorable outcomes (modified Rankin score [mRS] 0-2: OR 2.64; 95% CI: 1.37 to 5.07; mRS 0-3: OR 3.31; 95% CI: 1.73 to 6.33). FPE tended to improve outcomes (mRS 0-3: OR 2.24; 95% CI: 0.92 to 4.97; p=0.08). ICH rates (OR 0.60; 95% CI: 0.34 to 1.05; p=0.07) and 90-day deaths (OR 0.57; 95% CI: 0.30 to 1.09; p=0.09) tended to decrease in patients who achieved mFPE but not in patients who achieved FPE. CONCLUSIONS: In the ANGEL-ASPECT trial, patients who achieved mFPE had a higher rate of independent ambulation and functional independence, and the rates of any ICH and 90-day death tended to decrease.

Background and objectives: Both myelin oligodendrocyte glycoprotein-IgG associated disorders (MOGAD) and neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorder (NMOSD) are demyelinating diseases of the central nervous system. They present similar clinical manifestations such as optica neuritis, myelitis and area postrema syndrome (APS). The distinctions of optica neuritis (ON) and myelitis between them have been elaborated to great length while their differences in APS remain to be elucidated. We aim to report the frequency of APS in patients with MOGAD as well as NNOSD patients, and to compare the characteristics of APS between patients with MOGAD and those with NMOSD. Methods: Seven MOG-IgG positive APS patients were retrospectively identified between 2017 and 2022. APS phenotypes have been previously described. The similarities and differences between MOGAD and NMOSD patients with APS was compared, including the frequency and duration of APS between the two diseases, and their incidences of accompanied subtentorial lesions have also been described and compared. Results: We reviewed a cohort of 218 MOG-IgG-positive patients, and 396 patients with NMOSD. 200 MOGAD patients and 332 NMOSD patients were included in this study. In the cohort, seven patients with MOG-IgG-positive antibody presented with APS were analyzed, four of whom had disease onset with APS. Of the 332 patients with NMOSD, 47 had APS attacks while 31 had APS at disease onset. In patients with MOGAD, 2 had nausea, 3 had vomiting, 5 had hiccups, and 1 patient presented with all three symptoms above. In patients with NMOSD, 70.2 % had nausea, vomiting and hiccups at the same time during APS attacks. Apart from the medulla oblongata, other subtentorial regions were also affected in 6/7 MOGAD patients while 14/47 NMOSD patients had other subtentorial regions involved. During an APS attack, the incidence of concomitant lesions in the brainstem and other regions was significantly greater in MOGAD than in the NMOSD cohort (P = 0.008*). Conclusion: APS is a rare, but not isolated clinical manifestation of MOGAD. APS happened more frequently with other supratentorial and subtentorial lesions in MOGAD. The symptoms of NVH (nausea, vomiting, hiccups) tended to happen respectively in MOGAD compared with NMOSD. The phenotype or mechanism of APS in MOGAD may differ from that in NMOSD.

OBJECTIVE: To methodically analyse the swirl sign and construct a scoring system to predict the risk of hematoma expansion (HE) after spontaneous intracerebral haemorrhage (sICH). METHODS: We analysed 231 of 683 sICH patients with swirl signs on baseline noncontrast CT (NCCT) images. The characteristics of the swirl sign were analysed, including the number, maximum diameter, shape, boundary, minimum CT value of the swirl sign, and the minimum distance from the swirl sign to the edge of the hematoma. In the development cohort, univariate and multivariate analyses were used to identify independent predictors of HE, and logistic regression analysis was used to construct the swirl sign score system. The swirl sign score system was verified in the validation cohort. RESULTS: The number and the minimum CT value of the swirl sign were independent predictors of HE. The swirl sign score system was constructed (2 points for the number of swirl signs >1 and 1 point for the minimum CT value ≤41 Hounsfield units). The area under the curve of the swirl sign score system in predicting HE was 0.773 and 0.770 in the development and validation groups, respectively. CONCLUSIONS: The swirl sign score system is an easy-to-use radiological grading scale that requires only baseline NCCT images to effectively identify subjects at high risk of HE. ADVANCES IN KNOWLEDGE: Our newly developed semiquantitative swirl sign score system greatly improves the ability of swirl sign to predict HE.

Background: The relationship between early perihematomal edema (PHE) and hematoma expansion (HE) is unclear. We investigated this relationship in patients with acute spontaneous intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH), using radiomics. Methods: In this multicenter retrospective study, we analyzed 490 patients with spontaneous ICH who underwent non-contrast computed tomography within 6 h of symptom onset, with follow-up imaging at 24 h. We performed HE and PHE image segmentation, and feature extraction and selection to identify HE-associated optimal radiomics features. We calculated radiomics scores of hematoma (Radscores_HEA) and PHE (Radscores_PHE) and constructed a combined model (Radscore_HEA_PHE). Relationships of the PHE radiomics features or Radscores_PHE with clinical variables, hematoma imaging signs, Radscores_HEA, and HE were assessed by univariate, correlation, and multivariate analyses. We compared predictive performances in the training (n = 296) and validation (n = 194) cohorts. Results: Shape_VoxelVolume and Shape_MinorAxisLength of PHE were identified as optimal radiomics features associated with HE. Radscore_PHE (odds ratio = 1.039, p = 0.032) was an independent HE risk factor after adjusting for the ICH onset time, Glasgow Coma Scale score, baseline hematoma volume, hematoma shape, hematoma density, midline shift, and Radscore_HEA. The areas under the receiver operating characteristic curve of Radscore_PHE in the training and validation cohorts were 0.808 and 0.739, respectively. After incorporating Radscore_PHE, the integrated discrimination improvements of Radscore_HEA_PHE in the training and validation cohorts were 0.009 (p = 0.086) and -0.011 (p < 0.001), respectively. Conclusion: Radscore_PHE, based on Shape_VoxelVolume and Shape_MinorAxisLength of PHE, independently predicts HE, while Radscore_PHE did not add significant incremental value to Radscore_HEA.

OBJECTIVE: Alzheimer's disease, an irreversible neurological condition, demands timely diagnosis for effective clinical intervention. This study employs radiomics analysis to assess image features in default mode network cerebral perfusion imaging among individuals with cognitive impairment. METHODS: A radiomics analysis of cerebral perfusion imaging was conducted on 117 patients with cognitive impairment. They were divided into training and validation sets in a 7:3 ratio. Least Absolute Shrinkage and Selection Operator (LASSO) and Random Forest were employed to select and model image features, followed by logistic regression analysis of LASSO and Random Forest results. Diagnostic performance was assessed by calculating the area under the curve (AUC). RESULTS: In the training set, LASSO achieved AUC of 0.978, Random Forest had an AUC of 0.933. In the validation set, LASSO had AUC of 0.859, Random Forest had AUC of 0.986. By conducting Logistic Regression analysis in combination with LASSO and Random Forest, we identified a total of five radiomics features, with four related to morphology and one to textural features, originating from the medial prefrontal cortex and middle temporal gyrus. In the training set, Logistic Regression achieved AUC of 0.911, while in the validation set, it attained AUC of 0.925. CONCLUSION: The medial prefrontal cortex and middle temporal gyrus are the two brain regions within the default mode network that hold the highest significance for Alzheimer's disease diagnosis. Radiomics analysis contributes to the clinical assessment of Alzheimer's disease by delving into image data to extract deeper layers of information.

Highly concentrated "'water-in-salt"' (WIS) electrolytes are promising for high-performance energy storage devices due to their wide electrochemical stability window. However, the energy storage mechanism of MnO2 in WIS electrolytes-based supercapacitors remains unclear. Herein, MnO2 nanoflowers are successfully grown on mesoporous bowl-like carbon (MBC) particles to generate MnO2/MBC composites, which not only increase electroactive sites and inhibit the pulverization of MnO2 particles during the fast charging/discharging processes, but also facilitate the electron transfer and ion diffusion within the whole electrode, resulting in significant enhancement of the electrochemical performance. An asymmetric supercapacitor, assembled with MnO2/MBC and activated carbon (AC) and using 21 m LiTFSI solution as the WIS electrolyte, delivers an ultrahigh energy density of 70.2 Wh kg-1 at 700 W kg-1, and still retains 24.8 Wh kg-1 when the power density is increased to 28 kW kg-1. The ex situ XRD, Raman, and XPS measurements reveal that a reversible reaction of MnO2 + xLi+ + xe-↔LixMnO2 takes place during charging and discharging. Therefore, the asymmetric MnO2/MBC//AC supercapacitor with LiTFSI electrolyte is actually a lithium-ion hybrid supercapacitor, which can greatly boost the energy density of the assembled device and expand the voltage window.

Intrinsically safe sodium-ion batteries are considered as a promising candidate for large-scale energy storage systems. However, the high flammability of conventional electrolytes may pose serious safety threats and even explosions. Herein, a strategy of constructing a deep eutectic electrolyte is proposed to boost the safety and electrochemical performance of succinonitrile (SN)-based electrolyte. The strong hydrogen bond between S═O of 1,3,2-dioxathiolane-2,2-dioxide (DTD) and the α-H of SN endows the enhanced safety and compatibility of SN with Lewis bases. Meanwhile, the DTD participates in the inner Na+ sheath and weakens the coordination number of SN. The unique solvation configuration promotes the formation of robust gradient inorganic-rich electrode-electrolyte interphase, and merits stable cycling of half-cells in a wide temperature range, with a capacity retention of 82.8% after 800 cycles (25 °C) and 86.3% after 100 cycles (60 °C). Correspondingly, the full cells deliver tremendous improvement in cycling stability and rate performance.

Tensile-compression fatigue deformation tests were conducted on AZ31 magnesium alloy at room temperature. Electron backscatter diffraction (EBSD) scanning electron microscopy was used to scan the microstructure near the fatigue fracture surface. It was found that lamellar {10-11}-{10-12} secondary twins (STs) appeared inside primary {10-11} contraction twins (CTs), with a morphology similar to the previously discovered {10-12}-{10-12} STs. However, through detailed misorientation calibration, it was determined that this type of secondary twin is {10-11}-{10-12} ST. Through calculation and analysis, it was found that the matrix was under compressive stress in the normal direction (ND) during fatigue deformation, which was beneficial for the activation of primary {10-11} CTs. The local strain accommodation was evaluated based on the geometric compatibility parameter (m') combined with the Schmid factor (SF) of the slip system, leading us to propose and discuss the possible formation mechanism of this secondary twin. The analysis results indicate that when the local strain caused by basal slip at the twin boundaries cannot be well transmitted, {10-11}-{10-12} STs are activated to coordinate the strain, and different loading directions lead to different formation mechanisms. Moreover, from the microstructure characterization near the entire fracture surface, we surmise that the presence of such secondary twins is not common.

Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is the most common primary malignant liver tumor and one of the leading causes of cancer-related deaths worldwide. The Wnt/ß-Catenin signaling pathway is a highly conserved pathway involved in several biological processes, including the improper regulation that leads to the tumorigenesis and progression of cancer. New studies have found that abnormal activation of the Wnt/ß-Catenin signaling pathway is a major cause of HCC tumorigenesis, progression, and resistance to therapy. New perspectives and approaches to treating HCC will arise from understanding this pathway. This article offers a thorough analysis of the Wnt/ß-Catenin signaling pathway's function and its therapeutic implications in HCC.

OBJECTIVE: Malignant cerebral edema (MCE) is a life-threatening complication of ischemic stroke. Few studies have evaluated MCE in patients with acute basilar artery occlusion (BAO) receiving endovascular treatment (EVT). Therefore, the authors investigated the incidence, predictors, and functional outcomes of MCE in BAO patients undergoing EVT. METHODS: This was a post hoc analysis of the Endovascular Treatment for Acute Basilar Artery Occlusion (ATTENTION) trial, a prospective, randomized, multicenter clinical trial that compared endovascular treatment with conventional care of patients with BAO at 36 centers in China. Brain edema was retrospectively assessed using the Jauss score for all available follow-up scans, and patients with a Jauss score ≥ 4 were classified as having MCE. Clinical functional independence was defined as a modified Rankin Scale (mRS) score of 0-2, and a good outcome was defined as an mRS score of 0-3 at the 90-day follow-up. Univariate and multivariate analyses were used to explore the predictors of MCE and the impact of MCE on prognosis. RESULTS: A total of 189 patients were analyzed, and 13.2% of patients developed MCE. Multivariate analysis showed that the baseline Glasgow Coma Scale (GCS) score (OR 0.722, 95% CI 0.548-0.950; p = 0.020) and the number of procedures (OR 1.594, 95% CI 1.051-2.419; p = 0.028) were significantly associated with MCE. After adjusting for confounding factors, the presence of MCE was significantly associated with a lower rate of functional independence (OR 0.115, 95% CI 0.023-0.563; p = 0.008), a lower rate of good outcome (OR 0.092, 95% CI 0.023-0.360; p = 0.001), and a higher rate of mortality (OR 5.373, 95% CI 2.055-14.052; p = 0.001) at the 90-day follow-up. CONCLUSIONS: MCE is not uncommon in BAO patients undergoing EVT and is associated with poor outcomes. Baseline GCS score and the number of procedures were predictors of MCE. In clinical practice, it is crucial that physicians identifying MCE after EVT in patients with BAO and identification of MCE will help in the selection of an appropriate pharmacological treatment strategy and close monitoring.

Ground target detection and positioning systems based on lightweight unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) are increasing in value for aerial reconnaissance and surveillance. However, the current method for estimating the target's position is limited by the field of view angle, rendering it challenging to fulfill the demands of a real-time omnidirectional reconnaissance operation. To address this issue, we propose an Omnidirectional Optimal Real-Time Ground Target Position Estimation System (Omni-OTPE) that utilizes a fisheye camera and LiDAR sensors. The object of interest is first identified in the fisheye image, and then, the image-based target position is obtained by solving using the fisheye projection model and the target center extraction algorithm based on the detected edge information. Next, the LiDAR's real-time point cloud data are filtered based on position-direction constraints using the image-based target position information. This step allows for the determination of point cloud clusters that are relevant to the characterization of the target's position information. Finally, the target positions obtained from the two methods are fused using an optimal Kalman fuser to obtain the optimal target position information. In order to evaluate the positioning accuracy, we designed a hardware and software setup, mounted on a lightweight UAV, and tested it in a real scenario. The experimental results validate that our method exhibits significant advantages over traditional methods and achieves a real-time high-performance ground target position estimation function.

OBJECTIVE: To comprehensively compare the safety and efficacy of endoscopic surgery (ES) and stereotactic aspiration (SA) in patients with spontaneous intracerebral hemorrhage (sICH). METHODS: We searched Web of Science, PubMed, Embase, and the Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials from inception to July 31, 2023. Studies comparing ES and SA for sICH treatment were also included. Outcome measures included primary outcomes (mortality and good functional outcome [GFO]) and secondary outcomes (evacuation rate, residual hematoma, perihematomal edema (PHE), operation time, volume of intraoperative blood loss, hospital stay duration, intensive care unit stay duration, hospital cost, complications, and reoperation). Subgroup analyses assessed the influence of age, hematoma volume, Glasgow Coma Scale score, and time to surgery on the outcomes. RESULTS: Nine studies (1 randomized controlled trial and 8 observational studies) with 2105 patients (705 and 1400 in the ES and SA groups, respectively) were included in this meta-analysis. The final analysis indicated that compared with SA, ES was associated with enhanced GFO and a higher evacuation rate 1 day post-surgery along with reduced mortality and residual hematoma. Conversely, ES did not confer benefits in terms of perihematomal edema, operation time, intraoperative blood loss volume, or hospital stay duration compared with SA. Subgroup analysis highlighted the significant influences of age and hematoma volume on mortality, whereas hematoma volume and Glasgow Coma Scale score affected GFO. CONCLUSIONS: ES is a safe and effective approach for sICH treatment, leading to improved patient prognosis and quality of life compared to SA.

Eu2+-based lead-free metal halide nanocrystals (LFMH NCs), including CsEuCl3 NCs and CsX:Eu2+ NCs (X = Cl or Br), exhibit highly efficient narrow-band blue photoluminescence, making them competitive candidates for next-generation lighting and displays. However, the growing mechanism of the aforementioned NCs lacks in-depth study, which hinders the development of Eu2+-based nanomaterials. Herein, we demonstrate the colloidal synthesis of CsBr:Eu2+ NCs based on an air-stable europium source. The NCs show deep blue photoluminescence centered at 444 nm, with a maximum photoluminescence quantum yield (PLQY) reaching 53.4% and a fwhm of 30 nm. We further reveal the mechanism that determines CsBr host growth and Eu2+ doping in CsBr:Eu2+ nanocrystals, especially dopant trapping and self-purification, that determine the PLQY level. Pure white, warm white, and cold white LEDs are fabricated based on CsBr:Eu2+ NCs, red and green phosphors, and their performance suits the needs of high-quality lighting.
