RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Mental disorders have ranked among the top 10 prevalent causes of burden on a global scale. Generative artificial intelligence (GAI) has emerged as a promising and innovative technological advancement that has significant potential in the field of mental health care. Nevertheless, there is a scarcity of research dedicated to examining and understanding the application landscape of GAI within this domain. OBJECTIVE: This review aims to inform the current state of GAI knowledge and identify its key uses in the mental health domain by consolidating relevant literature. METHODS: Records were searched within 8 reputable sources including Web of Science, PubMed, IEEE Xplore, medRxiv, bioRxiv, Google Scholar, CNKI and Wanfang databases between 2013 and 2023. Our focus was on original, empirical research with either English or Chinese publications that use GAI technologies to benefit mental health. For an exhaustive search, we also checked the studies cited by relevant literature. Two reviewers were responsible for the data selection process, and all the extracted data were synthesized and summarized for brief and in-depth analyses depending on the GAI approaches used (traditional retrieval and rule-based techniques vs advanced GAI techniques). RESULTS: In this review of 144 articles, 44 (30.6%) met the inclusion criteria for detailed analysis. Six key uses of advanced GAI emerged: mental disorder detection, counseling support, therapeutic application, clinical training, clinical decision-making support, and goal-driven optimization. Advanced GAI systems have been mainly focused on therapeutic applications (n=19, 43%) and counseling support (n=13, 30%), with clinical training being the least common. Most studies (n=28, 64%) focused broadly on mental health, while specific conditions such as anxiety (n=1, 2%), bipolar disorder (n=2, 5%), eating disorders (n=1, 2%), posttraumatic stress disorder (n=2, 5%), and schizophrenia (n=1, 2%) received limited attention. Despite prevalent use, the efficacy of ChatGPT in the detection of mental disorders remains insufficient. In addition, 100 articles on traditional GAI approaches were found, indicating diverse areas where advanced GAI could enhance mental health care. CONCLUSIONS: This study provides a comprehensive overview of the use of GAI in mental health care, which serves as a valuable guide for future research, practical applications, and policy development in this domain. While GAI demonstrates promise in augmenting mental health care services, its inherent limitations emphasize its role as a supplementary tool rather than a replacement for trained mental health providers. A conscientious and ethical integration of GAI techniques is necessary, ensuring a balanced approach that maximizes benefits while mitigating potential challenges in mental health care practices.

OBJECTIVE: To perform molecular diagnosis and pedigree analysis for one case with α-thalassemia who does not conform to the genetic laws, and explore the effects of a newly discovered rare mutation (HBA2:c.*12G>A) on clinical phenotypes. METHODS: Blood samples of the proband and her family members were collected for blood routine analysis, and the hemoglobin components were analyzed by capillary electrophoresis. The common α- and ß-globin gene loci in Chinese population were detected by conventional techniques (Gap-PCR, RDB-PCR). The α-globin gene sequences (HBA1, HBA2) were analyzed by Sanger sequencing. RESULTS: By analyzing the test results of proband and her family members, the genotype of the proband was -α3.7/HBA2:c.*12G>A, her father was HBA2:c.*12G>A heterozygous mutation carrier. CONCLUSION: This study identifies a rare α-globin gene mutation (HBA2:c.*12G>A) that has not been reported before. It is found that heterozygous mutation carriers present with static α-thalassemia.

Sea urchins (Tripneustes gratilla) are among the most highly prized seafood products in Vietnam because of their nutritional value and medicinal properties. In this research, lipid classes and the phospholipid (PL) molecular species compositions from the body and eggs of T. gratilla collected in Hon Tam, Nha Trang, Khanh Hoa, Vietnam, were investigated. Hydrocarbon and wax (HW), triacylglycerol (TG), mono- and diacylglycerol (MDAG), free fatty acid (FFA), sterol (ST), polar lipid (PoL), and monoalkyl-diacylglycerol are the major lipid classes. In PL, five main glycerophospholipid classes have been identified, in which 137 PL molecular species were detected in the body and eggs of T. gratilla, including 20 inositol glycerophospholipids (PI), 11 serine glycerophospholipids (PS), 22 ethanolamine glycerophospholipids (PE), 11 phosphatidic acids (PA), and 73 choline glycerophospholipids (PC). PI 18:0/20:4, PS 20:1/20:1, PE 18:1e/20:4, PA 20:1/20:1, and PC 18:0e/20:4 are the most abundant species with the highest content values of 38.65-48.19%, 42.48-44.41%, 41.21-40.03%, 52.42-52.60%, and 7.77-7.18% in each class of the body-eggs, respectively. Interestingly, PL molecules predominant in the body sample were also found in the egg sample. The molecular species with the highest content account for more than 40% of the total species in each molecular class. However, in the PC class containing 73 molecular species, the highest content species amounted to only 7.77%. For both the body and egg TL samples of the sea urchin T. gratilla, a substantial portion of C20:4n polyunsaturated fatty acid was found in PI, PE, and PC, but C16, C18, C20, and C22 saturated fatty acids were reported at low levels. The most dominant polyunsaturated fatty acid in PI, PE, and PC was tetracosapolyenoic C20, while unsaturated fatty acid C20:1 was the most dominant in PS and PA. To our knowledge, this is the first time that the chemical properties of TL and phospholipid molecular species of the PoL of Vietnamese sea urchin (T. gratilla) have been studied.

Generative artificial intelligence (GAI) shocked the world with its unprecedented ability and raised significant tensions in the education field. Educators inevitably transition to an educational future that embraces GAI rather than shuns it. Understanding the mechanism between students interacting with GAI tools and their achievement is important for educators and schools, but relevant empirical evidence is relatively lacking. Due to the characteristics of personalization and real-time interactivity of GAI tools, we propose that the students-GAI interaction would affect their learning achievement through serial mediators of self-efficacy and cognitive engagement. Based on questionnaire surveys that include 389 participants as the objective, this study finds that: (1) in total, there is a significantly positive relationship between student-GAI interaction and learning achievement. (2) This positive relationship is mediated by self-efficacy, with a significant mediation effect value of 0.015. (3) Cognitive engagement also acts as a mediator in the mechanism between the student-GAI interaction and learning achievement, evidenced by a significant and relatively strong mediating effect value of 0.046. (4) Self-efficacy and cognitive engagement in series mediate this positive association, with a serial mediating effect value of 0.011, which is relatively small in comparison but also shows significance. In addition, the propensity score matching (PSM) method is applied to alleviate self-selection bias, reinforcing the validity of the results. The findings offer empirical evidence for the incorporation of GAI in teaching and learning.

IQ scores are often used to predict school performance. However, for children with learning disabilities, the predictive validity of IQ scores appears to be low. In the fourth and fifth versions of the Wechsler Intelligence Scales for Children (WISC), new ancillary indices were introduced. The General Ability Index (GAI) is a broad measure of fluid reasoning with verbal, visual-spatial, and figural test items. By contrast, the Cognitive Proficiency Index (CPI) combines different executive functions known to be frequently affected in children with dyslexia, ADHD, or combined learning disorders. To date, there is little evidence to demonstrate that these measures improve the prediction of school performance beyond the Full-scale IQ (FSIQ). We therefore used lasso regression to explore the predictive validity of these measures for school grades. The analyzed samples were taken from the German standardization samples of the WISC-IV and the WISC-V. In most cases, the prediction of school performance was not considerably improved by taking the GAI or the CPI into account. However, when the individual discrepancy between the CPI and the GAI was high, the FSIQ lost its predictive validity in elementary school. In this subgroup of children, reading and writing skills were best predicted by the CPI, whereas math skills were limited by the lowest score (i.e., the minimum out of the CPI and the GAI).

In present study, five potential strains with different plant growth promotion (PGP) characteristics were used. By considering various PGP properties of different bacterial strains, several treatments based on various combinations were developed and studied on mungbean (var. Co4). The quantification of the phytohormones was performed on ultrahigh-performance liquid chromatograph coupled to heated electrospray ionization tandem mass spectrometry (UHPLC/HESI-MS/MS). Indole 3-acetic acid (IAA) and Indole 3-butyric acid (IBA) were quantified in positive ionization mode while Gibberellic acid (GA3) and salicylic acid (SA) were quantified in negative ionization mode. Among all the treatments two penta combinations of consortia 1 (Rhizobium + Azospirillum + Pseudomonas + Bacillus spp. + Bacillus licheniformis) and consortia 2 (Rhizobium + Azotobacter + Pseudomonas + Bacillus spp. + Bacillus licheniformis) were found most effective. Higher amount of IAA (1.043 µg g-1), IBA (0.036 µg g-1), GA3 (1.999 µg g-1) and SA (0.098 µg g-1) Fresh weight (FW) were found in treated adolescent root tissues of consortia 2 as compared to consortia 1. Moreover, transcriptional level of the plant hormones were 2-4 fold higher in the relative gene expression study of three genes: ARF (Auxin responsive factors), ERF-IF (Ethylene-responsive Initiation Factors) and GAI (Gibberellic-Acid Insensitive) in consortia 2, on the 15th, 30th and 45th day using quantitative real time-Polymerase chain reaction (qRT-PCR). Furthermore, Yield attributing characters like, the number of nodules plant-1, number of pods plant-1, weight of nodule and seed yield plant-1 were also increased as compared to the control. As a result, the current research elucidated that penta combinations consortium of Rhizobium sp. and rhizobacteria can be developed as a single delivery system biofertilizer for enhancing mungbean productivity.

Ovule development is a key process for plant reproduction, helping to ensure correct seed production. Several molecular factors and plant hormones such as gibberellins are involved in ovule initiation and development. Gibberellins control ovule development by the destabilization of DELLA proteins, whereas DELLA activity has been shown to act as a positive factor for ovule primordia emergence. But the molecular mechanism by which DELLA acts in ovule primordia initiation remained unknown. In this study we report that DELLA proteins participate in ovule initiation by the formation of a protein complex with the CUC2 transcription factor. The DELLA protein GAI requires CUC2 to promote ovule primordia formation, through the direct GAI-CUC2 interaction in placental cells that would determine the boundary regions between ovules during pistil development. Analysis of GAI-CUC2 interaction and co-localization in the placenta supports this hypothesis. Moreover, molecular analysis identified a subset of the loci for which the GAI protein may act as a transcriptional co-regulator in a CUC2-dependent manner. The DELLA-CUC2 complex is a component of the gene regulatory network controlling ovule primordia initiation in Arabidopsis.

Circuitries of signaling pathways integrate distinct hormonal and environmental signals, and influence development in plants. While a crosstalk between brassinosteroid (BR) and gibberellin (GA) signaling pathways has recently been established, little is known about other components engaged in the integration of the two pathways. Here, we provide supporting evidence for the role of HSP90 (HEAT SHOCK PROTEIN 90) in regulating the interplay of the GA and BR signaling pathways to control hypocotyl elongation of etiolated seedlings in Arabidopsis. Both pharmacological and genetic depletion of HSP90 alter the expression of GA biosynthesis and catabolism genes. Major components of the GA pathway, like RGA (REPRESSOR of ga1-3) and GAI (GA-INSENSITIVE) DELLA proteins, have been identified as physically interacting with HSP90. Interestingly, GA-promoted DELLA degradation depends on the ATPase activity of HSP90, and inhibition of HSP90 function stabilizes the DELLA/BZR1 (BRASSINAZOLE-RESISTANT 1) complex, modifying the expression of downstream transcriptional targets. Our results collectively reveal that HSP90, through physical interactions with DELLA proteins and BZR1, modulates DELLA abundance and regulates the expression of BZR1-dependent transcriptional targets to promote plant growth.

Glutaric aciduria type I (GA-I) is an autosomal recessive genetic disorder caused by a deficiency in glutaryl-CoA dehydrogenase (GCDH). Patients who do not receive proper treatment may die from acute encephalopathic crisis. Current treatments for GA-I include a low-lysine diet combined with oral supplementation of L-carnitine. A mouse model of Gcdh c.422_428del/c.422_428del (Gcdh -/-) was generated in our laboratory using CRISPR/Cas9. Gcdh -/- mice had significantly higher levels of glutaric acid (GA) in the plasma, liver, and brain than those in wild-type C57BL/6 mice. When given a high-protein diet (HPD) for two days, approximately 60% of Gcdh -/- mice did not survive the metabolic stress. To evaluate whether GCDH gene replacement therapy could be used to provide sustained treatment for patients with GA-1, we prepared a recombinant adeno-associated virus (rAAV) carrying a human GCDH expression cassette and injected it into Gcdh -/- neonates for a proof-of-concept (PoC) study. Our study demonstrated that delivering rAAV to the central nervous system (CNS), but not the peripheral system, significantly increased the survival rate under HPD exposure. Our study also demonstrated that rAAVPHP.eB mediated a higher efficiency than that of rAAV9 in increasing the survival rate. Surviving mice showed dose-dependent GCDH protein expression in the CNS and downregulation of GA levels. Our study demonstrated that AAV-based gene replacement therapy was effective for GA-I treatment and provided a feasible solution for this unmet medical need.

Potential psychological issues faced by British nuclear test veterans have been under-researched. This study assessed the prevalence of clinically relevant anxiety in British nuclear test veterans and aimed to explore experiences of worry and the broader psychological impact of the British nuclear weapons testing programme. The Geriatric Anxiety Inventory (Short-Form) was completed by 89 British nuclear test veterans (33.7% met the criteria for clinically relevant anxiety). Nineteen veterans then participated in semi-structured interviews. Thematic analysis of the data generated three themes. The first theme highlighted how worry was relevant only in a few cases (four) generally regarding their grandchildren's health, but the guilt in those who perceive responsibility for family health conditions also appeared to be a pertinent issue. The second theme highlighted the anger towards authorities resulting from perceived negligence and deception. The third theme highlighted the relevance of how certain life events across the life course influence the potential psychological impact. This study suggests that guilt must be considered in (potentially) exposed individuals whose family members experience health conditions, which may exacerbate distress. It also suggests the importance that authorities ensure transparency when dealing with any radiological exposure scenario to reduce the potential for anger.

Background: Despite studies about anxiety in the older adult, the prevalence of anxiety in this age group is not exactly clear, which may be due to the use of tools and criteria that were not born for this age group. One of the instruments designed to assess anxiety in the elderly is the Geriatric Anxiety Inventory (GAI). The aim of this research was to analyze the psychometric properties of the Persian version of the Geriatric Anxiety Inventory (GAI-PV) and its short form (GAI-PV-SF) in a sample of older adults in Iran. Methods: In this cross-sectional study, a sample of 150 community-dwelling and a psychogeriatric sample of 48 adults older than 60 years completed the GAI-PV and GAI-PV-SF, the anxiety sub-scale of the General Health Questionnaire (GHQ-28), the Geriatric Depression Scale (GDS-15), and the Structured Clinical Interview for DSM-IV (SCID-I). Different types of validity and reliability were evaluated for GAI-PV and GAI-PV-SF using SPSS and the LISREL software. Results: Both the GAI-PV and GAI-PV-SF exhibited excellent internal consistency (over 80 %) and desirable concurrent validity against GHQ-28 and GDS-15. The optimal cutpoint score to detect current generalized anxiety disorder (GAD) was 10/11 and 13/14 for GAI-PV in the community-dwelling and psychogeriatric samples, respectively, and 3/4 for GAI-PV-SF in both study samples. Good test-retest reliability (correlation coefficient: 0.96 and 0.88 for GAI-PV and GAI-PV-SF, respectively) and a single-factor structure were also demonstrated. Conclusion: Sound psychometric properties of the GAI-PV in both subsamples suggest that the instrument could be used successfully as an accurate screening instrument in the elderly Iranian population.

An approach of exploiting and assessing the potential of Sentinel-2 data in the context of precision agriculture by using data from an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) is presented based on a four-year dataset. An established model for the estimation of the green area index (GAI) of winter wheat from a UAV-based multispectral camera was used to calibrate the Sentinel-2 data. Large independent datasets were used for evaluation purposes. Furthermore, the potential of the satellite-based GAI-predictions for crop monitoring and yield prediction was tested. Therefore, the total absorbed photosynthetic radiation between spring and harvest was calculated with satellite and UAV data and correlated with the final grain yield. Yield maps at the same resolution were generated by combining yield data on a plot level with a UAV-based crop coverage map. The best tested model for satellite-based GAI-prediction was obtained by combining the near-, infrared- and Red Edge-waveband in a simple ratio (R2 = 0.82, mean absolute error = 0.52 m2/m2). Yet, the Sentinel-2 data seem to depict average GAI-developments through the seasons, rather than to map site-specific variations at single acquisition dates. The results show that the lower information content of the satellite-based crop monitoring might be mainly traced back to its coarser Red Edge-band. Additionally, date-specific effects within the Sentinel-2 data were detected. Due to cloud coverage, the temporal resolution was found to be unsatisfactory as well. These results emphasize the need for further research on the applicability of the Sentinel-2 data and a cautious use in the context of precision agriculture.

BACKGROUND: This study developed a Japanese version of the Geriatric Anxiety Inventory (GAI-J) and its short form (GAI-J-SF) to evaluate anxiety in older adults in Japan and assess these measures' psychometric properties with a cross-sectional design. METHODS: Participants (N = 400; mean age: 75 years) were community-dwelling older adults who answered a set of self-report questionnaires. They were recruited from a community centre for older persons in the Kanto region of Japan. Of the respondents, 100 participated in a follow-up survey to evaluate test-retest reliability. Item response theory was adopted to evaluate item parameters. RESULTS: Confirmatory factor analysis with categorical data suggested that, as with the original Geriatric Anxiety Inventory, the GAI-J/GAI-J-SF had a unifactor structure. Test-retest correlation and internal consistency analyses indicated that these scales had high reliability. Item response theory results showed that both measures' item parameters were acceptable. Correlations with the Penn State Worry Questionnaire, State Trait Anxiety Inventory-State Only, Generalized Anxiety Disorder-7 and Patient Health Questionnaire-9 were mostly consistent with our hypotheses. This supports the high convergent validity of the GAI-J/GAI-J-SF. CONCLUSIONS: The findings indicate that the GAI-J and the GAI-J-SF have robust psychometric properties for assessing late-life anxiety in older Japanese adults. Future GAI-J studies in clinical groups are needed.

Some errors and mistakes happened about this book name and its author in some history books and bibliographies: some reference books describe Yi Lüe Zheng Wu Gai Lun and Yi Lüe Zheng Wu (, Corrections to Summaries on Medicine) as two different books, with their own writer Li Xiang and Li Hanyi respectively. In fact, there is only one book, Yi Lüe Zheng Wu Gai Lun and Yi Lüe Zheng Wu is same book. The author is Li Xiang, but Hanyi is his courtesy name that misunderstood as a different person.

The ability to interpret daily and seasonal fluctuations, latitudinal and vegetation canopy variations in light and temperature signals is essential for plant survival. However, the precise molecular mechanisms transducing the signals from light and temperature perception to maintain plant growth and adaptation remain elusive. We show that far-red light induces PHYTOCHROME-INTERACTING TRANSCRIPTION 4 (SlPIF4) accumulation under low-temperature conditions via phytochrome A in Solanum lycopersicum (tomato). Reverse genetic approaches revealed that knocking out SlPIF4 increases cold susceptibility, while overexpressing SlPIF4 enhances cold tolerance in tomato plants. SlPIF4 not only directly binds to the promoters of the C-REPEAT BINDING FACTOR (SlCBF) genes and activates their expression but also regulates plant hormone biosynthesis and signals, including abscisic acid, jasmonate and gibberellin (GA), in response to low temperature. Moreover, SlPIF4 directly activates the SlDELLA gene (GA-INSENSITIVE 4, SlGAI4) under cold stress, and SlGAI4 positively regulates cold tolerance. Additionally, SlGAI4 represses accumulation of the SlPIF4 protein, thus forming multiple coherent feed-forward loops. Our results reveal that plants integrate light and temperature signals to better adapt to cold stress through shared hormone pathways and transcriptional regulators, which may provide a comprehensive understanding of plant growth and survival in a changing environment.

Introdução: A prática do jejum pré-operatório se consolidou no século XX e prosseguiu praticamente inalterada até os anos 80, onde passou a ser reestruturada. Diante disso, o presente artigo tem o intuito de realizar uma revisão sobre o jejum pré operatório orientado na literatura comparando-o com o que é encontrado dentro da realidade brasileira. Metodologia: Trata-se de um estudo de revisão da literatura, de natureza exploratória, realizada por meio de pesquisa de artigos científicos, dissertações e teses disponíveis nas bases de dados online. Resultados: a American Society of Anesthesiologists desenvolveu a Task "Force on Preoperative Fasting" que estabelece para líquidos claros um jejum mínimo de 2 horas e para dieta leve de 6 horas. No Brasil, um estudo com 3.175 pacientes revelou que 46% deles jejuaram por um período superior a 12 horas. Discussão: Além de não aumentar a possibilidade de danos, observa-se que a redução do tempo de jejum pré-operatório está associada a benefícios no processo de recuperação do paciente. Dentre as causas para o jejum prolongado nas instituições de saúde do Brasil estão o atraso nas operações, a transferência de horário e de período ou o seu adiamento para o próximo dia. Conclusão: o aprimoramento do jejum pré-operatório é necessário, tendo como estratégia a melhor comunicação entre equipes médicas e de enfermagem e o paciente atendido nas instituições hospitalares. Background: The practice of preoperative fasting was consolidated in the twentieth century and remained unchanged until the 1980s, when it was questioned. Therefore, the present article aims to review the preoperative fasting oriented in the literature comparing it with what is found in Brazilian reality. Methods: This is an exploratory literature review study, conducted through research of scientific articles, dissertations and theses available in online databases. Results: The American Society of Anesthesiologists has developed the Task Force on Preoperative Fasting, which establishes for clear liquids a minimum fasting of 2 hours and 6 hours for a light diet. In Brazil, a study with 3,175 patients revealed that 46% of them fasted for more than 12 hours. Discussion: In addition to not increasing the possibility of damage, it is observed that the reduction of preoperative fasting time is associated with benefits in patient's recovery process. Causes of prolonged fasting in Brazilian health institutions include delayed operations, changes on time and period, or postponement to the next day. Conclusions: the improvement of preoperative fasting is necessary, having as strategy a better communication between medical and nursing teams and the patients treated at hospitals. (AU)

BACKGROUND AND AIMS: Branching is a main morphogenetic process involved in the adaptation of plants to the environment. In grasses, tillering is divided into three phases: tiller emergence, cessation of tillering and tiller regression. Understanding and prediction of the tillering process is a major challenge to better control cereal yields. In this paper, we present and evaluate WALTer, an individual-based model of wheat built on simple self-adaptive rules for predicting the tillering dynamics at contrasting sowing densities. METHODS: WALTer simulates the three-dimensional (3-D) development of the aerial architecture of winter wheat. Tillering was modelled using two main hypotheses: (H1) a plant ceases to initiate new tillers when a critical Green Area Index (GAIc) is reached, and (H2) the regression of a tiller occurs if its interception of light is below a threshold (PARt). The development of vegetative organs follows descriptive rules adapted from the literature. A sensitivity analysis was performed to evaluate the impact of each parameter on tillering and GAI dynamics. WALTer was parameterized and evaluated using an initial dataset providing an extensive description of GAI dynamics, and another dataset describing tillering dynamics under a wide range of sowing densities. KEY RESULTS: Sensitivity analysis indicated the predominant importance of GAIc and PARt. Tillering and GAI dynamics of expt 1 were well fit by WALTer. Once calibrated based on the agronomic density of expt 2, tillering parameters allowed an adequate prediction of tillering dynamics at contrasting sowing densities. CONCLUSIONS: Using simple rules and a small number of parameters, WALTer efficiently simulated the wheat tillering dynamics observed at contrasting densities in experimental data. These results show that the definition of a critical GAI and a threshold of PAR is a relevant way to represent, respectively, cessation of tillering and tiller regression under competition for light.

Canada is experiencing population aging, and given the heterogeneity of older adults, there is increasing diversity in late life. The purpose of this study was to help fill the research gaps on LGBT aging and end-of-life. Through focus groups, we sought to better understand the lived experience of older LGBT individuals and to examine their concerns associated with end-of-life. Our analysis highlights the idea that identifying as LGBT matters when it comes to aging and end-of-life care. In particular, gender identity and sexual orientation matter when it comes to social connections, in the expectations individuals have for their own care, and in the unique fear related to staying out of the closet and maintaining identity throughout aging and end-of-life. This study underscores the need to consider gender identity and sexual orientation at end-of-life. In particular, recognition of intersectionality and social locations is crucial to facilitating positive aging experiences and end-of-life care.
