RESUMO

Background: Digital Health Literacy (DHL) is crucial in navigating digital health environments, yet few studies focus on older adults. Objective: Explore the associations of digital health information and resource utilization, IT-related social support, and barriers/enhancers to digital health service usage with DHL among older adults. Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted from January 2022 to April 2023, involving 417 individuals over the age of 60 who were interviewed using an instrument for collecting data on DHL, social support, barriers/enhancers influencing use of digital health resources and personal/demographic data. Multi-regression models were used to examine the associations. Results: Higher DHL scores were associated with daily use of digital interaction with healthcare (B = 0.28; 95% confidence interval [CI] = 0.07, 0.49; p = .01), daily use of other digital health resources (B = 0.22; 95% CI = 0.05, 0.40; p = .01), ease in finding assistance for online navigation (B = 0.27; 95% CI = 0.08, 0.45; p = .01), self-perceived digital proficiency ("usually very good at surfing the internet," B = 0.35; 95% CI = 0.18, 0.52; p = .01), assistance from relatives/others in internet browsing (B = 0.20; 95% CI = 0.02, 0.37; p = .02), and having access to a computer, tablet, or smartphone (B = 0.29; 95% CI = 0.11, 0.47, p = .01). Conversely, barriers like "no access to a computer, tablet, or phone at all times" (B = -0.19; 95% CI = -0.34, -0.04; p = .01), "difficulty understanding online content" (B = -0.22; 95% CI = -0.36, -0.07; p = .01), and "believing to be too old for online services" (B = -0.18; 95% CI = -0.32, -0.03; p = .02) were associated with lower DHL scores. Conclusions: Engagement with digital health platforms, including making online appointments and accessing personal health records, is associated with higher DHL levels. Support from relatives or others, a modifiable attribute, is also associated with elevated DHL among older adults.

RESUMO

Passive smoking from environmental tobacco smoke not only increases the risk of lung cancer and cardiovascular disease but may also be a stressor triggering neuropsychiatric and other disorders. To prevent these diseases, understanding the relationship between passive smoking and stress is vital. In this study, we developed a simple and sensitive method to simultaneously measure nicotine (Nic) and cotinine (Cot) as tobacco smoke exposure biomarkers, and cortisol (CRT), serotonin (5-HT), melatonin (MEL), dopamine (DA), and oxytocin (OXT) as stress-related biomarkers. These were extracted and concentrated from saliva by in-tube solid-phase microextraction (IT-SPME) using a Supel-Q PLOT capillary as the extraction device, then separated and detected within 6 min by liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) using a Kinetex Biphenyl column (Phenomenex Inc., Torrance, CA, USA). Limits of detection (S/N = 3) for Nic, Cot, CRT, 5-HT, MEL, DA, and OXT were 0.22, 0.12, 0.78, 0.39, 0.45, 1.4, and 3.7 pg mL-1, respectively, with linearity of calibration curves in the range of 0.01-25 ng mL-1 using stable isotope-labeled internal standards. Intra- and inter-day reproducibilities were under 7.9% and 14.6% (n = 5) relative standard deviations, and compound recoveries in spiked saliva samples ranged from 82.1 to 106.6%. In thirty nonsmokers, Nic contents positively correlated with CRT contents (R2 = 0.5264, n = 30), while no significant correlation was found with other biomarkers. The standard deviation of intervals between normal beats as the standard measure of heart rate variability analysis negatively correlated with CRT contents (R2 = 0.5041, n = 30). After passive smoke exposure, Nic levels transiently increased, Cot and CRT levels rose over time, and 5-HT, DA, and OXT levels decreased. These results indicate tobacco smoke exposure acts as a stressor in nonsmokers.

RESUMO

In the field of electronic and optoelectronic applications, two-dimensional materials are found to be the promising candidates for futuristic devices. For the detection of infrared light, MoTe2 possesses an appropriate bandgap for which p-MoTe2/n-Si heterojunctions are suits well for photodetectors. In this study, rapid thermal technique is used to grow MoTe2 thin films on silicon (Si) substrates. Molybdenum (Mo) thin films were deposited using sputtering system on Si substrate and Tellurium (Te) film was deposited on Mo film by thermal evaporation technique. The substrates with Mo/Te thin films are kept in a face-to-face manner inside the RTP furnace. The growth was carried out at a base pressure of 2 torr with the flow of 160 sccm argon gas at different temperatures ranging from 400 °C to 700 °C. The XRD peaks appeared around 2θ = 12.8°, 25.5°, 39.2°, 53.2° corresponding to (002), (004), (006) and (008) orientation of hexagonal 2H-MoTe2 structure. The characteristic Raman peaks of MoTe2,observed at ~119 cm-1 and ~172 cm-1,corresponds to in-plane E1g and out-of-plane A1g mode of MoTe2, whereas the prominent peaks of the in-plane E12g mode at ∼234 cm-1, and the out-of-plane B12g mode at ∼289 cm-1 are also observed. RMS roughness is found to be increasing with increasing growth temperature. The bandgap of MoTe2 is calculated using Tauc plot and found to be 0.91 eV. Electrical characterizations are carried out using current-voltage and current-time measurement, where the maximum responsivity and detectivity are found to be 127.37 mA/W and 85.21 × 107 Jones for growth temperature of 600 °C and IR wavelength illumination of 1060 nm. .

RESUMO

Because of rapid industrialization and agriculturalization, solving the pressing problems of environment pollution, especially water and food quality, requires innovative solutions. In this paper, a novel and versatile metal-organic framework (ZIF-8)-hybrid monolithic column (ZIF-HMC) was prepared for in-tube solid-phase microextraction (IT-SPME) of organic nitrogen pesticides (ONPs). The prepared monolithic columns had superior adsorption sites, high porosity, excellent permeability, and ideal specific surface area based on Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FT-IR), X-ray Diffraction (XRD), Thermal Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), Energy Dispersive Spectrometry (EDS), X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy (XPS), and N2 adsorption-desorption. The ZIF-HMC contained a large number of nitrogen and oxygen atoms, benzene rings and ZIF-8, which could synergistically promote the adsorption efficiency of ONPs through multiple interactions, such as hydrogen bonding, π-π accumulation, hydrophobic interactions, cation-π interactions, and pore adsorption by MOFs. Under the optimal conditions, a simple, efficient, and sensitive method for the analysis of six organic pesticides in environmental water samples was developed by using the ZIF-HMC as the extraction medium coupled with high performance liquid chromatography-ultraviolet (HPLC-UV). The method had a wide linear range (0.63-1000 µg L-1), a low detection limit (0.19-1.91 µg L-1) and satisfactory recoveries (87.4 %-110.2 %), the linear correlation coefficient was (R2) 0.9972-0.9995 and the relative standard deviation (RSD) was less than 2.64 %. The study had demonstrated the potential application of the developed method for the enrichment and analysis of organic pesticides in complex matrices of environmental samples, as well as the feasibility of MOFs materials for IT-SPME sample preparation.

RESUMO

INTRODUCTION: Increase in health IT adoption is often driven by financial support through the state. In 2020, the German Hospital Future Law passed Parliament with a schedule to see potential effects in 2023. The research question of the present study thus was if there were differences between 2017 and 2023 in selected application areas eligible for funding by the law. METHODS: Availability and percentage of use in clinical units was measured in a panel of 172 hospitals for these areas. A linear mixed model with repeated measures yielded a significant increase in "medication management" and "discharge management". RESULTS AND DISCUSSION: In "medication management", hospitals in a group as compared to single hospitals tripled the percentage of clinical units using IT systems for this purpose. Not-for-profit hospitals doubled their IT systems for "discharge management" when compared to for-profit hospitals. CONCLUSION: Whether these changes can be attributed to the Hospital Future Law is debatable due to severe delays in various fields, particularly in making funding available. There is room for speeding up particularly the administrative funding process and finally demonstrating results that are proportional to the government money invested.

RESUMO

Change is a noticeable feature of civic, personal, and organizational life. Progress, Goal achievement, and avoidance of contingence were frequently involved in the implementation of planned changes. Workers might completely recognize the motives for the alteration or the ladders needed to implement it through strong and constant communication. Outstanding communication could help decrease confrontation, rally a complex of alteration provision, and deliver evidence essential for individuals to adjust efficiently. Organizational change is essential for corporations to thrive and raise. It permits workers to comprehend and obligate change and effort successfully. The goal of this study is to determine the effect of conflicts and organizational changes on the communication process in the IT sector. Gathered data has been achieved by survey with help of surveys and then the collected data is analyzed using the SPSS software, SEM model and confirmatory factor analysis. The primary data collected are nearly 126 from employees working in various departments in the IT sector. This study analyzes the effects of conflicts and organizational changes on the communication process in the IT sector. The study also recommends that the IT sector improve strategies for tackling the issues faced because of organizational change.

RESUMO

Di-2-ethylhexyl (DEHP), which is widely used in industrial products, is produced annually in excess of 2 million tons worldwide. DEHP is an endocrine disruptor and one of the major environmental pollutant chemicals (EDCs) in nature. There is some information about the effects of these products, which provide great advantages in every respect, on human health and the environment. In this study, C. elegans organism was used to evaluate the health and environmental risks of DEHP. The survival and fertility effects of DEHP on the C. elegans organism were examined and the results were evaluated. In the study, it was determined that DEHP not only shortened the survival time of C. elegans but also caused a decrease in fertility. DEHP (0.625 mM and 10 mM) caused a 23.2-30.6% decrease in fertility. Additionally, the LC50 (50% lethal concentration) value of DEHP was found to be 321 µg/mL.

RESUMO

Numerous studies examining the responses of individual neurons in the inferior temporal (IT) cortex have revealed their characteristics such as two-dimensional or three-dimensional shape tuning, objects, or category selectivity. While these basic selectivities have been studied assuming that their response to stimuli is relatively stable, physiological experiments have revealed that the responsiveness of IT neurons also depends on visual experience. The activity changes of IT neurons occur over various time ranges; among these, repetition suppression (RS), in particular, is robustly observed in IT neurons without any behavioral or task constraints. I observed a similar phenomenon in the ventral visual neurons in macaque monkeys while they engaged in free viewing and actively fixated on one consistent object multiple times. This observation indicates that the phenomenon also occurs in natural situations during which the subject actively views stimuli without forced fixation, suggesting that this phenomenon is an everyday occurrence and widespread across regions of the visual system, making it a default process for visual neurons. Such short-term activity modulation may be a key to understanding the visual system; however, the circuit mechanism and the biological significance of RS remain unclear. Thus, in this review, I summarize the observed modulation types in IT neurons and the known properties of RS. Subsequently, I discuss adaptation in vision, including concepts such as efficient and predictive coding, as well as the relationship between adaptation and psychophysical aftereffects. Finally, I discuss some conceptual implications of this phenomenon as well as the circuit mechanisms and the models that may explain adaptation as a fundamental aspect of visual processing.

RESUMO

Background: Pulmonary stenosis (PS) is one rare congenital heart disease (CHD) featuring obstruction of right ventricular outflow tract. Critical pulmonary stenosis (CPS) is neonatal PS having cyanosis and evidence of patent ductus arteriosus (PDA) dependency. There is limited data on the clinical outcomes of CPS with different modes of transportation. This study aimed to investigate clinical features and outcomes of CPS through the intrauterine transport (IT) and postnatal transport (PT). Methods: Single-center retrospective research was performed. Neonates with CPS were grouped into the IT group and PT group. Clinical characteristics and outcomes of the neonates were compared between the two groups. Results: Totally 110 neonates with PS were included in this study, 77 with CPS and 33 with non-CPS. In the infants with CPS, there were 53 and 24 in the IT and PT group respectively. Echocardiography showed that transvalvular pulmonary gradient (TVG) stayed lower in the IT group than that in the PT group {77.0 [interquartile range (IQR), 60.5-91.5] vs. 92.0 (IQR, 73.3-125.0) mmHg, P=0.006}. Levels of serum N-terminal pro-brain natriuretic peptide (NT-proBNP) and troponin I also remained lower in the IT group than those in the PT group [2,256 (IQR, 1,054-4,527) vs. 3,708 (IQR, 2,138-6,789) pg/mL, P=0.02; 0.020 (IQR, 0.011-0.034) vs. 0.042 (IQR, 0.027-0.072) ng/mL, P<0.001, respectively]. All infants with CPS received percutaneous balloon pulmonary valvuloplasty (PBPV) therapy in neonatal period and were discharged from the hospital. Length of hospital stay remained shorter in the IT group than that in the PT group [13.0 (IQR, 11.0-15.0) vs. 15.5 (IQR, 10.8-22.8) days, P=0.03]. Conclusions: IT and early management after birth could effectively reduce the severity of CPS before PBPV treatment and shorten the length of hospital stay among neonates suffering from CPS.

RESUMO

In real life situation, it is often difficult to judge the relative importance of different parameters being considered for evaluating some alternatives. In the context of fuzzy sets, it is a situation where it is difficult to define precise membership grades for attribute values. Here we require more generalized type of fuzzy sets which have a greater representational power than ordinary fuzzy sets. For this purpose we use "interval type-2 trapezoidal fuzzy preference relations (IT2TrFPRs)" in this article as a generalization of fuzzy preference relations and consider the environment discussed above, where there is no information on priority weights. A collective decision matrix will be constructed on the basis of hybrid averages using weighted averaging and signed distance based OWA operation. Then a least deviation model will be employed in order to determine the priority weight vectors. Finally, the alternatives will be ranked on the basis of weighted normalized signed distance of each alternative from the ideal solution. Moreover, a real life example of location selection is illustrated to elaborate the effectiveness of the proposed scheme.

RESUMO

As the global demand for healthcare services continues to grow, improving the efficiency and effectiveness of the healthcare ecosystem has become a pressing concern. Information systems are transforming the healthcare delivery process, shifting the focus of healthcare services from passive disease treatment to proactive health prevention and the healthcare management model from hospital-centric to patient-centric. This study focuses on reviewing research in IS journals on the topic of e-health and is dedicated to constructing a theoretical model of intelligent health to provide a research basis for future discussions in this field. In addition, as the innovation of intelligent healthcare services has led to changes in its elements (e.g., an increase in the number of stakeholders), there is an urgent need to sort out and analyze the existing research.

RESUMO

Objectives: This study aimed to identify workstation factors influencing work-related musculoskeletal disorders (WMSDs) among information technology (IT) professionals in Indonesia. Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted among 150 IT workers at small-enterprise companies who were randomly selected across East Java, Indonesia. The data were modeled using multiple linear regression, with a 95% level of confidence for determining statistical significance. Results: The respondents reported that the neck had the highest level of discomfort and was the most at risk of WMSDs, followed by the lower back, right shoulder, and upper back. Screen use duration (p=0.040) was associated with whole-body WMSDs, along with seat width (p=0.059), armrest (p=0.027), monitor (p=0.046), and a combined telephone and monitor score (p=0.028). Meanwhile, the factors significantly related to the risk of WMSDs in the hands and wrist were working period (p=0.039), night shift (p=0.024), backrest (p=0.008), and mouse score (p=0.032). Conclusions: Occupational safety authorities, standards-setting departments, and policymakers should prioritize addressing the risk factors for WMSDs among IT professionals.

RESUMO

Objectives: This article describes how a home visit solution was developed in a co-design process between patients in treatment for severe spasticity, their caregivers and hospital nurses. The solution was developed using a participatory design approach and was based on the identified needs of the participants. Methods: We developed a home visit solution through an iterative process and a collective 'reflection-in-action' approach with patients, caregivers and healthcare professionals. Results: The study revealed the complexities of establishing new routines around home visits. The solution included a new workflow for the nurses and a new route and appointment planning tool. Conclusion: Through a participatory design approach, the users developed a home visit solution that minimised disruption to patients' daily lives and facilitated a dialogue between the nurses and the caregivers about the treatment and the patients' spasticity, which helped to adjust the treatment in line with the patient´s needs.

RESUMO

The German cockroach, Blattella germanica (L.) (Blattodea: Ectobiidae), is a ubiquitous pest in affordable housing. They represent a major threat to human health due to their contribution of asthma-exacerbating allergens and the potential to transfer pathogenic microorganisms indoors. Despite well-documented pyrethroid resistance, pyrethroid-based broadcast residual insecticide products are often used by residents to control cockroaches in their homes. Additionally, there is little empirical independent testing of these products. Thus, it remains unclear how effective these commonly used do-it-yourself products are at controlling German cockroaches. This study represents a comprehensive examination of the efficacy of these products with direct, limited, and continuous exposure assays on a variety of common household surfaces on field populations of cockroaches with varying levels of pyrethroid resistance. While most products performed well when applied directly to test insects, mortality was substantially lower across all surfaces with limited exposure (30 min). In continuous exposure assays on a nonporous surface, products took at least 24 hr to cause 100% mortality in a field population, with some products taking up to 5 d to achieve 100% mortality. The findings of this study demonstrate a lack of residual efficacy from common pyrethroid-based consumer-use pesticides products. Given that it is not feasible to find and treat every cockroach in a home directly, the residuality of spray-based formulations is critical for products designed to control German cockroaches. Without residual efficacy, as shown in the consumer aerosol and spray products tested, we expect these products to add little to no value to cockroach control.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Since the COVID-19 pandemic, the use of video consultation (VC) in primary care has expanded considerably in many countries. VC and other telehealth formats are often touted as a solution to improved health care access, with numerous studies showing high satisfaction with this care format among health professionals and patients. However, operationalization and measurement of patient satisfaction with VC varies across studies and often lacks consideration of dynamic contextual factors (eg, convenience, ease-of-use, or privacy) and doctor-patient relational variables that may influence patient satisfaction. OBJECTIVE: We aim to develop a comprehensive and evidence-based questionnaire for assessing patient satisfaction with VC in general practice. METHODS: The vCare Patient-Satisfaction Questionnaire (the vCare-PSQ) was developed according to the COSMIN (Consensus-Based Standards for the Selection of Health Measurement Instruments) guidelines. To achieve our overall objective, we pursued three aims: (1) a validation analysis of an existing patient-satisfaction scale (the PS-14), (2) an assessment of extrinsic contextual factors that may impact patient satisfaction, and (3) an assessment of pertinent intrinsic and relational satisfaction correlates (eg, health anxiety, information technology literacy, trust in the general practitioner, or convenience). For validation purposes, the questionnaire was filled out by a convenience sample of 188 Danish adults who had attended at least 1 VC. RESULTS: Our validation analysis of the PS-14 in a Danish population produced reliable results, indicating that the PS-14 is an appropriate measure of patient satisfaction with VC in Danish patient populations. Regressing situational and doctor-patient relational factors onto patient satisfaction further suggested that patient satisfaction is contingent on several factors not measured by the PS-14. These include information technology literacy and patient trust in the general practitioner, as well as several contextual pros and cons. CONCLUSIONS: Supplementing the PS-14 with dynamic measures of situational and doctor-patient relational factors may provide a more comprehensive understanding of patient satisfaction with VC. The vCare-PSQ may thus contribute to an enhanced methodological approach to assessing patient satisfaction with VC. We hope that the vCare-PSQ format may be useful for future research and implementation efforts regarding VC in a general practice setting.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Work-related mental health problems impose significant economic and personal burdens. eHealth interventions may offer low-cost, practical solutions, but guidance on their cost-effectiveness in workplace mental health is limited. OBJECTIVE: The objective of this study was to systematically review economic evaluations of workplace eHealth interventions for mental health, offering insights into methodologies and cost-effectiveness outcomes. METHODS: Adhering to PRISMA guidelines, searches were conducted in Embase, MEDLINE, Web of Science, Google Scholar, Cochrane library, PsycInfo and EconLit databases in May 2022, selecting peer-reviewed papers that performed economic evaluations on workplace eHealth interventions for adult mental health. Quality was assessed using the Drummond checklist. RESULTS: From 3213 references, eight met the inclusion criteria. These studies varied in economic perspective, types of economic analysis type, primary outcome measures, intervention focus (e.g. stress, alcohol, insomnia & return-to-work) and direct non-medical costs. Five eHealth interventions were found to be cost-effective and/or have a positive return on investment, with seven studies rated as high quality according to the Drummond checklist. CONCLUSIONS: The study outcomes unveiled the potential cost-effectiveness of eHealth interventions targeting mental health issues, particularly these focusing on workplace stress. However, generalization is challenging due to variations in the methodologies across studies.

RESUMO

Therapeutic strategies targeting non-adaptive immune cells are currently in clinical development. γδT cells are a small subtype of T cells (1-10% of total T cells) that mediate their effector function without the necessity of the antigen presenting machinery, and also share functional properties with innate cells. Among the different γδT subtypes, antibodies against Vγ9Vδ2T have reported signs of clinical efficacy in early clinical studies. In this review we describe the biology of this subtype of non-conventional T cells and provide insights into the mechanism of action of novel antibodies that activate these cells. We will focus on antibodies targeting the BTN3A ligand and bi-specific γδT cell engagers. We will review in detail the advantages of these strategies including the potential for overcoming mechanisms of resistance to check point inhibitors, or the much more adequate safety profile compared with agents activating classical T cells. Limitations identified during the first studies in humans and strategies to overcome them will be revised and discussed. Finally, clinical options for future clinical development will be suggested.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Gamma delta (γδ) T cells play dual roles in human tumors, with both antitumor and tumor-promoting functions. However, the role of γδT cells in HPV-infected cervical cancer is still undetermined. Therefore, we aimed to identify γδT cell-related prognostic signatures in the cervical tumor microenvironment. METHODS: Single-cell RNA-sequencing (scRNA-seq) data, bulk RNA-seq data, and corresponding clinical information of cervical cancer patients were obtained from the TCGA and GEO databases. The Seurat R package was used for single-cell analysis, and machine learning algorithms were used to screen and construct a γδT cell-related prognostic signature. Real-time quantitative PCR (RT-qPCR) was performed to detect the expression of prognostic signature genes. RESULTS: Single-cell analysis indicated distinct populations of γδT cells between HPV-positive (HPV+) and HPV-negative (HPV-) cervical cancers. A trajectory analysis indicated γδT cells clustered into differential clusters with the pseudotime. High-dimensional Weighted Gene Co-expression Network Analysis (hdWGCNA) identified the key γδT cell-related gene modules. Bulk RNA-seq analysis also demonstrated the heterogeneity of immune cells, and the γδT-score was positively associated with inflammatory response and negatively associated with MYC stemness. Eight γδT cell-related hub genes (GTRGs), including ITGAE, IKZF3, LSP1, NEDD9, CLEC2D, RBPJ, TRBC2, and OXNAD1, were selected and validated as a prognostic signature for cervical cancer. CONCLUSION: We identified γδT cell-related prognostic signatures that can be considered independent factors for survival prediction in cervical cancer.

RESUMO

A high performance liquid chromatography-ultraviolet-visible detector-electrospray ionization-ion trap-time-of-flight-mass spectrometry-total antioxidant capacity determination (HPLC-UVD-ESI-IT-TOF-MS-TACD) new online technique was developed for efficient screening of potential antioxidant active components in Prunus persica flowers (PPF) from 4 origins. Through this online system, 46 compounds were initially identified, while 20 compounds with DPPH binding activity and 21 compounds with FRAP binding activity were detected. The antioxidant activities of 9 compounds obtained from the screening were then validated in DNA oxidative damage protection study. The results showed that this online system can cope well with the complexity of the samples. This also provides technical basis for rapid screening of antioxidant resources of PPF. In short, this study made the chemical composition of PPF more abundant and its potential antioxidant active compounds more explicit, which provided new ideas for the detection and development of natural antioxidants and provided scientific basis for PPF as functional food.
