BACKGROUND: Many phenolic C-glycosides possess nutritional benefits and pharmacological efficacies. However, the MS/MS fragmentation pattern of phenolic C-glycosides analysis is understudied. This paper aims to determine the MS/MS fragmentation patterns of phenolic C-glycosides. METHOD: Ten compounds with different sugar moieties, aglycones, and substitutes were analyzed to determine the impact of these structural features on MS/MS fragmentation using UPLC-QTOF-MS analysis. RESULTS: The results showed that water loss followed by RDA reaction and alpha cleavage in the C-C bonded sugar moieties are the major fragmentation pathways. Additionally, the sugar cleavage was not affected by the skeleton and the substitute of the aglycones. These results suggested that the fragmentation patterns of phenolic C-glycosides differ from those in the O-glycosides, where the O-C glycosidic bond is the most cleavage-liable bond in MS/MS analysis. CONCLUSIONS: These MS/MS fragmentation patterns can be used for the identification of C-glycosides from dietary components and herbal medicine as well as developing robust methods using MRM methods to quantify C-glycosides.

This article systematically reviews the extraction and purification methods, structural characteristics, structure-activity relationship, and health benefits of C. speciosa polysaccharides, and their potential application in food, medicine, functional products, and feed, in order to provide a useful reference for future research. Chaenomeles speciosa (Sweet) Nakai. has attracted the attention of health consumers and medical researchers as a traditional Chinese medicine with edible, medicinal, and nutritional benefits. According to this study, C. speciosa polysaccharides have significant health benefits, such as anti-diaetic, anti-inflammatory and analgesic, anti-tumor, and immunomodulatory effects. Researchers determined the molecular weight, structural characteristics, and monosaccharide composition and ratio of C. speciosa polysaccharides by water extraction and alcohol precipitation. This study will lay a solid foundation for further optimization of the extraction process of C. speciosa polysaccharides and the development of their products. As an active ingredient with high value, C. speciosa polysaccharides are worthy of further study and full development. C. speciosa polysaccharides should be further explored in the future, to innovate their extraction methods, enrich their types and biological activities, and lay a solid foundation for further research and development of products containing polysaccharides that are beneficial to the human body.

A complication of reducing sugars is that they can undergo Maillard chemical reactions, forming advanced glycation end-products (AGEs) that can induce oxidative stress and inflammation via engagements with the main receptor for AGEs (RAGE) in various tissues. Certain sugars, such as glucose and fructose, are well known to cause AGE formation. Recently, allulose has emerged as a rare natural sugar that is an epimer of fructose and which is of low caloric content that is minimally metabolized, leading to it being introduced as a low-calorie sugar alternative. However, the relative ability of allulose to generate AGEs compared to glucose and fructose is not known. Here we assess the accumulation of AGEs in cell-free, in vitro, and in vivo conditions in response to allulose and compare it to glycation mediated by glucose or fructose. AGEs were quantified in cell-free samples, cell culture media and lysates, and rat serum with glycation-specific ELISAs. In cell-free conditions, we observed concentration and time-dependent increases in AGEs when bovine serum albumin (BSA) was incubated with glucose or fructose and significantly less glycation when incubated with allulose. AGEs were significantly elevated when pulmonary alveolar type II-like cells were co-incubated with glucose or fructose; however, significantly less AGEs were detected when cells were exposed to allulose. AGE quantification in serum obtained from rats fed a high-fat, low-carb (HFLC) Western diet for 2 weeks revealed significantly less glycation in animals co-administered allulose compared to those exposed to stevia. These results suggest allulose is associated with less AGE formation compared to fructose or glucose, and support its safety as a low-calorie sugar alternative.

Arsenosugars are the predominant species of arsenic in most seaweed. The analysis of these compounds is hampered by the lack of calibration standards needed in their unambiguous identification and quantification. This affects the availability of reliable information on their potential toxicity, which is scarce and controversial. Knowing the potential of centrifugal partition chromatography (CPC) as a preparative separation technique applied to a number of natural compounds, the aim of this work is to investigate the feasibility of CPC in the case of isolation and purification of arsenosugars from algae extracts. Several biphasic solvents systems have been studied to evaluate the distribution of the As species. Given the physical characteristics of these compounds, the presence of strong acids, the formation of ionic pairs or the presence of salts at high ionic strength have been considered. System 1-BuOH/EtOH/sat.(NH4)2SO4/water at a volume ratio 0.2:1:1:1 originates adequate distribution constants of analytes that allows the required separation. The total arsenic content and the arsenic speciation of the eluted solutions from CPC were analyzed by ICP-MS and IC-ICP-MS, respectively. The developed CPC procedure allows us to obtain of the three arsenosugars with a purity of 98.7 % in PO4-Sug, 90.4 % in SO3-Sug and 96.1 % in SO4-Sug.

The mucus surface layer serves vital functions for scleractinian corals and consists mainly of carbohydrates. Its carbohydrate composition has been suggested to be influenced by environmental conditions (e.g., temperature, nutrients) and microbial pressures (e.g., microbial degradation, microbial coral symbionts), yet to what extend the coral mucus composition is determined by phylogeny remains to be tested. To investigate the variation of mucus carbohydrate compositions among coral species, we analyzed the composition of mucosal carbohydrate building blocks (i.e., monosaccharides) for five species of scleractinian corals, supplemented with previously reported data, to discern overall patterns using cluster analysis. Monosaccharide composition from a total of 23 species (belonging to 14 genera and 11 families) revealed significant differences between two phylogenetic clades that diverged early in the evolutionary history of scleractinian corals (i.e., complex and robust; p = 0.001, R2 = 0.20), mainly driven by the absence of arabinose in the robust clade. Despite considerable differences in environmental conditions and sample analysis protocols applied, coral phylogeny significantly correlated with monosaccharide composition (Mantel test: p < 0.001, R2 = 0.70). These results suggest that coral mucus carbohydrates display phylogenetic dependence and support their essential role in the functioning of corals.

The physicochemical properties and biological activities of polysaccharides depend on their structures. Monosaccharide composition analysis is indispensable for the structural characterization of polysaccharides and is helpful in the quality control of polysaccharide preparation. Here, using a model mixture and tamarind seed polysaccharide as examples, we demonstrated that a quantitative 2D NMR method, gsHSQCi (three gradient-selective Heteronuclear Single Quantum Coherence spectra acquired with incremented repetition times, i = 1, 2, 3) can directly quantify a variety of monosaccharides in solution with adequate precision and accuracy, requiring no derivatization, postprocessing steps and column separation. Both anomeric and non-anomeric signals of monosaccharides can be utilized for content determination. More accurate quantification of fructose in a mixture containing nine monosaccharides is obtained, which is difficult to achieve by quantitative 1D 1HNMR and the common PMP-HPLC method (high-performance liquid chromatography through pre-column derivatization with 1-phenyl-3-methyl-5-pyrazolone) due to the peak overlapping and the poor derivatization efficiency, respectively. The results also revealed that Na[Fe(EDTA)] can serve as a proper relaxation-enhancing agent for saccharide samples to save experimental time. We expect that this approach can be applied as an alternative to analyzing the monosaccharide composition and be helpful in interpreting the structure of polysaccharides.

Dictyophora indusiata is a common edible mushroom with great potential in the field of medicine against metabolic disorders, inflammation, and immunodeficiency. Our previous studies have shown that different fractions of the polysaccharide from Dictyophora indusiata (DIP) have various structural characteristics and morphology. However, the impact of the structural features on the protective effects of DIP against metabolic syndrome remains unclear. In this study, three distinct polysaccharide fractions have been extracted from Dictyophora indusiata and a high-fat diet-induced metabolic syndrome (MetS) was constructed in mice. The effects of these fractions on a range of MetS-associated endpoints, including abnormal blood glucose, lipid profiles, body fat content, liver function, intestinal microbiota and their metabolites were investigated. Through correlation analysis, the potential link between the monosaccharide composition of the polysaccharides and their biological activities was determined. The study aimed to explore the potential mechanisms and ameliorative effects of these polysaccharide fractions on MetS, thereby providing statistical evidence for understanding the relationship between monosaccharides composition of Dictyophora indusiata polysaccharides and their potential utility in treating metabolic disorders.

As different monosaccharides exhibit different redox characteristics, this paper presented a novel colorimetric sensor array based on the glucose oxidase-like (GOx-like) activity of Au nanoparticles (NPs) for monosaccharides identification. AuNPs can use O2, ABTS+•, or [Ag(NH3)2]+ as an electron acceptor to catalyze the oxidation of monosaccharides in different velocity, resulting in cross-responsive signals. The current sensor array can distinguish between different monosaccharides or their mixtures through linear discriminant analysis (LDA) and hierarchical clustering analysis (HCA). Moreover, the glucose and fructose concentrations can be estimated simultaneously using a neural network regression model based on the sensor array. This method shows potential for monosaccharide detection in industrial, medical, and biological applications.

Precision mapping of selenium at structural and position levels poses significant challenges in selenium-containing polysaccharide identification. Due to the absence of reference spectra, database-centric approaches are still limited in the discovery of selenium binding sites and distinction among different isomeric structures. A multilayer annotation strategy, AnnoSePS, is proposed for achieving the identification of seleno-substituent and the unbiased profiling of polysaccharides. Applying Snoop-triggered multiple reaction monitoring (Snoop-MRM) identified multidimensional monosaccharides in selenium-containing polysaccharides. Galactose, galacturonic acid, and glucose were the predominant monosaccharides with a molar ratio of 25.19, 19.45, and 11.72, respectively. Selenium present in seleno-rhamnose was found to substitute the hydroxyl group located at C-1 positions through the formation of a Se-H bond. Ions C6H9O3Se-, C6H7O3Se-, C5H5O3Se-, C4H5O2Se-, C3H5O2Se-, C2H3O2Se-, and CHOSe- were defined as the characteristic fragments of seleno-rhamnose. The agglomerative hierarchical clustering algorithm is applied to group spectra from each run based on the characteristic information. Preferential fragmentation patterns in mass spectrometry are revealed by training a probabilistic model. A list of candidate oligosaccharides is generated by step-by-step browsing through the transition pairs for all reference spectra and applying the transitions (addition, insertion, removal, and substitution) to reference structures. Combining time course analyses revealed the linkage composition of selenium-containing oligosaccharides. Glycosidic linkages were annotated based on a synthesis-driven approach. T-Galactose (16.67 ± 5.23%) and T-Galacturonic acid (11.54 ± 4.66%) were the predominant linkage residues. As the database-independent mapping strategy, AnnoSePS makes it possible to comprehensively interrogate spectral data and dissect the fine structure of selenium-containing polysaccharides.

It is well known that Rosa roxburghii, as a homology of both medicine and food, is rich in polysaccharides. To discover bioactive macromolecules for combating cancer, the polysaccharides in R. roxburghii were investigated, leading to the purification of a polysaccharide (RRTP80-1). RRTP80-1 was measured to have an average molecular weight of 8.65 × 103 g/mol. Monosaccharide composition analysis revealed that RRTP80-1 was formed from three types of monosaccharides including arabinose, glucose, and galactose. Methylation and GC-MS analysis suggested that the backbone of RRTP80-1 consisted of →5)-α-l-Araf-(1→, →6)-α-d-Glcp-(1→, →2,5)-α-l-Araf-(1→, →4,6)-ß-d-Galp-(1→, and →3)-α-l-Araf-(1→, with branch chains composed of α-l-Araf-(1→. In vivo studies indicated that RRTP80-1 exhibited inhibitory activity against the growth and proliferation of neoplasms in the zebrafish tumor xenograft model by suppressing angiogenesis. Additionally, RRTP80-1 was found to upregulate reactive oxygen species (ROS) and nitric oxide (NO) production levels in zebrafish models. All these studies suggest that RRTP80-1 activates the immune system to inhibit tumors. The potential role of the newly discovered homogeneous polysaccharide RRTP80-1 in cancer treatment was preliminarily clarified in this study.

BACKGROUND: A diet low in fermentable oligo-, di-, monosaccharides and polyols (LFD) improves symptoms in patients with irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). Previous studies have focused on patients with IBS and diarrhea (IBS-D). It is unclear whether LFD is effective for IBS with constipation (IBS-C) or IBS with mixed bowel habits (IBS-M). This open-label, real-world study evaluates the relative effectiveness of the LFD among IBS subtypes. METHODS: This study analyzes data from a service that provides low-FODMAP meals to individuals with IBS. Participants met with a registered dietitian and completed the IBS symptom severity survey (IBS-SSS) before and after undergoing a 2-4-week period of FODMAP restriction. The primary endpoint was the proportion of participants with ≥50-point decrease in IBS-SSS between the three IBS subtypes. KEY RESULTS: After FODMAP restriction, 90% of participants with IBS-D, 75% with IBS-C, and 84% with IBS-M met the primary endpoint (p = 0.045). Similar improvement was seen for a 100-point decrease, but the difference between IBS subtypes was not significant (p = 0.46). After FODMAP restriction, all groups had statistically significant improvement in total IBS-SSS as well as individual symptom categories. Improvement in IBS-SSS subcategories was similar among the groups except for the categories of bloating severity (IBS-M had greatest improvement) and bowel movement satisfaction (IBS-C had less improvement). CONCLUSION & INFERENCES: Though the proportion of responders was highest for IBS-D and lowest for IBS-C, the LFD led to robust improvement in overall symptoms in all IBS subtypes. Key individual symptoms also showed significant improvements in all IBS subtypes.

Microwave-assisted extraction of mucilage from juá was investigated using response surface methodology. The optimal conditions for extraction were a power of 300 W, an extraction time of 240 s, a pH of 8.0, and a water/sample ratio of 1/6, which achieved a 26.43% yield. The monosaccharide composition and antioxidant activity of the mucilage from juá fruits from different regions of Caatinga were investigated. The fruits from Agreste Paraibano showed the highest mucilage extraction yield (18.64%) compared to that of fruits from Mata Paraibana (MP) (12.37%), Borborema (BB) (11.47%), and Sertão Paraibano (8.31%) (p < 0.05). Glucose (32.8%-50.8%) and arabinose (19.3%-32.9%) were the main monosaccharides found in juá mucilage. The mucilage from fruits in the MP presented the highest antioxidant activity in the 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl and oxygen radical absorbance capacity assays. Our results demonstrated the potential for the future exploration and application of juá mucilage in the food industry. PRACTICAL APPLICATION: Juá (Ziziphus joazeiro Mart.) mucilage contains phenolic compounds and antioxidant activity, and its extraction by MAE is efficient, as it contributed to a higher yield.

Semen Coicis (S. Coicis) has been regarded as a valuable source of traditional herbal medicine in China for thousands of years. S. Coicis polysaccharides (SCPs) are one of the most important bioactive ingredients of S. Coicis, which have attracted worldwide attention, because of their great marketing potential and development prospects. Hot water extraction is currently the most commonly used method to isolate SCPs. The structural characteristics of SCPs have been extensively investigated through various advanced modern analytical techniques to dissect the structure-activity relationships. SCPs are mainly composed of diverse monosaccharides, from which Rha and Ara are the most prevalent glycosyl groups. In addition, the structures of SCPs are found to be closely related to their multiple biological activities, including antioxidant activity, immunomodulatory function, antitumor activity, hypoglycemic effect, intestinal microbiota regulatory activity, anti-inflammatory activity, among others. In view of this, this review aimed to provide systematic and current information on the isolation, structural characteristics, and bioactivities of SCPs to support their future applications as therapeutic agents and functional foods.

With the escalating demand for Astragalus polysaccharides products developed from Radix Astragali (RA), the necessity for quality control of polysaccharides in RA has become increasingly urgent. In this study, a specific method for the simultaneous determination of seven monosaccharides in polysaccharides extracted from Radix Astragali (RA) has been developed and validated using ultra-performance liquid chromatography equipped with an ultraviolet detector (UHPLC-UV) for the first time. The 1-phenyl-3-methyl-5-pyrazolone (PMP) derivatizations were separated on a C18 column (Waters ACQUITYTM, Milfor, MA, USA, 1.8 µm, 2.1 × 100 mm) using gradient elution with a binary system of 5 mm ammonium formate (0.1% formic acid)-acetonitrile for 24 min. Additionally, seven monosaccharides showed good linear relationships (R2, 0.9971-0.9995), adequate precision (RSD < 4.21%), and high recoveries (RSD < 4.70%). The established method was used to analyze 109 batches of RA. Results showed that the Astragalus polysaccharides (APSs) mainly consist of mannose (Man), rhamnose (Rha), glucose (Glu), galactose (Gal), arabinose (Ara), xylose (Xyl); and fucose (Fuc); however, their composition was different among RA samples from different growth patterns, species, growth years, and origins, and the growth mode of RA and the age of wild-simulated RA can be accurately distinguished by principal component analysis (PCA). In addition, the immunological activity of APSs were also evaluated jointly by measurement of the NO release with RAW264.7, with the results showing that APSs have a promoting effect on the release of NO and exhibit a significant correlation with Man, Glu, Xyl, and Fuc contents. Accordingly, the new established monosaccharides analytical method and APS-immune activity determination in this study can provide a reference for quality evaluation and the establishment of quality standards for RA.

A sensitive and precise HPLC-DAD method with pre-column PMP derivatization was established and validated, for analyzing the polysaccharides in Bacillus Calmette-Guérin polysaccharide and nucleic acid (BCG-PSN) isolates, after acid hydrolysis. And the HPLC fingerprint profiling was used to analyze its monosaccharide composition. The monosaccharide concentration-peak area calibration curve was of good linearity (R2 > 0.99), over the range of 0.016-0.08 mg/mL for mannose or 0.24-1.20 mg/mL for glucose, with high recovery of 93-105 % for quality control samples. The intra-day RSD values of mannose and glucose concentration were less than 2.5 % and 2.1 %, respectively, and their inter-day RSD values were less than 4.3 % and 2.2 %, respectively, and remained stable for up to 14 days. This method also remained durable against changes in chromatographic parameters, but it's susceptible to the flow rate of mobile phase. Additionally, the method was applied to analyze the content of mannose and glucose in 22 batches BCG-PSN powder and 17 batches BCG-PSN injection. The results showed that the HPLC-DAD fingerprint spectra of all the BCG-PSN powder and BCG-PSN injection samples had a high degree of similarity, with the similar indexes up to 0.999 and 0.998, respectively. The HPLC-DAD method with pre-column PMP derivatization is highly rapid, effective, visual, and accurate for determination of monosaccharide contents. The validated method was successfully applied to the analysis of polysaccharide in both BCG-PSN powder and injection.

BACKGROUND & AIMS: A diet low in fermentable oligo-, di-, monosaccharides, and polyols (LFD) has been shown to effectively reduce irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) symptoms. Effects resulting from real-world studies may differ from those seen in efficacy studies because of the diversity of patients in real-world settings. This systematic review and meta-analysis aimed to compare the effect of the LFD on reducing IBS symptoms and improving the quality of life (QoL) in efficacy trials and real-world studies. METHODS: Major databases, trial registries, dissertations, and journals were systematically searched for studies on the LFD in adults with IBS. Meta-analysis was conducted using a random effects model with standardized mean differences (SMD) and 95% confidence intervals (CI). Outcomes of interest were all patient-reported: stool consistency, stool frequency, abdominal pain, overall symptoms, adequate symptom relief, IBS-specific QoL and adherence to the LFD. RESULTS: Eleven efficacy and 19 real-world studies were reviewed. The meta-analysis results for abdominal pain (SMD 0.35, 95% CI 0.16 to 0.54) and QoL (SMD 0.23, 95% CI -0.05 to 0.50) showed the LFD was beneficial in efficacy studies with no statistically significant results for stool frequency (SMD 0.71, 95% CI 0.34 to 1.07). Real-world studies found improvements in abdominal pain and QoL. Due to heterogeneity, no meta-analysis was done for stool consistency and overall symptoms. In these outcomes, results were mostly supportive of the LFD, but they were not always statistically significant. CONCLUSIONS: The results of this systematic review and meta-analysis suggest the LFD improves outcomes compared to a control diet (efficacy studies) or baseline data (real-world studies). Because of diverse study designs and heterogeneity of results, a clear superiority of the LFD over control diets could not be concluded. There are no indications of an efficacy-effectiveness gap for the LFD in adults with IBS.

The macroalgae are a sustainable bioresource that can be harnessed for their functional food and nutraceutical applications. This study characterized the biochemical composition and bioactive potential of natural biological macromolecules, such as macroalgal polysaccharides extracted using a green, aqueous extraction process. The in-vitro antioxidant and antiglycemic activity of these polysaccharides were evaluated using model, free radical and antiglycemic compounds. The prebiotic potential of macroalgal polysaccharides were analysed based on their ability to promote the growth of two potential probiotic bacteria Lactobacillus acidophilus and L. bulgaricus and suppress the growth of enteric bacteria, Escherichia coli. Among the polysaccharides studied, the brown algal polysaccharide MPS8 MPS9 and MPS10 exhibited good antioxidant, antiglycemic and prebiotic activity. Based on infrared spectroscopy, the functional groups sulfation and carboxylation were identified in potential polysaccharides. The monosaccharide composition in the bioactive polysaccharides was determined using High Performance Anion Exchange Chromatography Pulse Amperometric detector (HPAEC-PAD). These bioactive polysaccharides were fractionated using ion exchange chromatography to purify it and further characterized using gel permeation chromatography and NMR spectroscopy. The results these polysaccharides are mainly composed of fucose and glucose which is due to the fucoidan and laminarin, respectively. Such macromolecules with high dietary fiber content and bioactivity are in global demand as functional food, nutraceutical and pharmaceutical formulations.

Natural polysaccharides interact with gut microbes to enhance human well-being. Grifola frondosa is a polysaccharides-rich edible and medicinal mushroom. The prebiotic potential of G. frondosa polysaccharides has been explored in recent years, however, the relationship between their various structural features and prebiotic activities is poorly understood. In this study, three homogenous polysaccharides GFP10, GFP21 and GFP22 having different molecular weights (Mw), monosaccharide compositions and glycosidic linkages were purified from G. frondosa, and their effects on intestinal microbial composition were compared. GFP10 was a fucomannogalactan with an Mw of 23.0 kDa, and it selectively inhibited Enterobacter, while GFP21 was a fucomannogalactoglucan with an Mw of 18.6 kDa, and it stimulated Catenibacterium. GFP22 was a 4.9 kDa mannoglucan that selectively inhibited Klebsiella and boosted Bifidobacterium, Catenibacterium and Phascolarctobacterium, and prominently promoted the production of short-chain fatty acids (SCFAs). The selective modulation of gut microbiota by polysaccharides was structure-dependent. A relatively lower Mw and a high proportion of glycosidic linkages like T-Glcp, 1,3-Glcp, 1,3,6-Glcp and 1,4-Glcp might be more easily utilized to produce SCFAs and beneficial for the proliferation of Catenibacterium and Phascolarctobacterium. This research provided a valuable resource for further exploring the structure-activity relationship and prebiotic activity of G. frondosa polysaccharides.

Two low-molecular-weight polysaccharides (DPSP50 and DPSP70) were obtained using hydrogen peroxide-vitamin C (H2O2-Vc) treatment at 50 °C and 70 °C, respectively. Both DPSP50 and DPSP70 comprised the same six monosaccharides in different ratios, and their molecular weights (Mws) were 640 kDa and 346 kDa, respectively. Functional properties analyses demonstrated that DPSP50 and DPSP70 each had an excellent water holding capacity, oil absorption capacity, and emulsion properties, as well as shear-thinning characteristics and viscoelastic properties. Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) and nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopic assays confirmed the existence of α-, ß-pyranose rings and the same six sugar residues in DPSP50 and DPSP70. The results of Congo red test, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and X-ray diffraction (XRD) demonstrated that DPSP50 and DPSP70 did not contain triple-helix conformations, but were amorphous aggregates with flake-like shape and rough surface. Additionally, both DPSP50 and DPSP70 showed strong anti-complementary activities through the classical pathway and the alternative pathway. The results support the potential utility of these degraded polysaccharides from strawberry fruits in functional foods and medicines.

As pure antipodes may differ in biological interactions, pharmacology, and toxicity, discrimination of enantiomers is important in the pharmaceutical and agrochemical industries. Two major challenges in enantiomer determination are transducing and amplifying the distinct chiral-recognition signals. In this study, a light-sensitive organic photoelectrochemical transistor (OPECT) with homochiral character is developed for enantiomer discrimination. Demonstrated with the discrimination of glucose enantiomers, the photoelectrochemically active gate electrode is prepared by integrating Au nanoparticles (AuNPs) and a chiral Cu(II)-metal-organic framework (c-CuMOF) onto TiO2 nanotube arrays (TNT). The captured glucose enantiomers are oxidized to hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) by the oxidase-mimicking AuNPs-loaded c-CuMOF. Based on the confinement effect of the mesopocket structure of the c-CuMOF and the remarkable charge transfer ability of the 1D nanotubular architecture, variations in H2O2 yield are translated into significant changes in OPECT drain currents (ID) by inducing a catalytic precipitation reaction. Variations in ID confer a sensitive discrimination of glucose enantiomers with a limit of detection (LOD) of 0.07 µM for L-Glu and 0.05 µM for D-Glu. This enantiomer-driven gate electrode response strategy not only provides a new route for enantiomer identification, but also helps to understand the origin of the high stereoselectivity in living systems.
