Background: Posterior femoral condylar osteophytes were frequently observed in patients with the ultra-congruent (UC) deep-dish design prosthesis. Therefore, the purpose of the present study was to verify the clinical relevance of osteophyte formation in the UC design. Methods: From March 2014 to February 2018, a comparative study was conducted on 96 knees using the UC design. They were divided into 2 groups (group 1: osteophyte +, group 2: osteophyte -). Intraoperative findings, indirect femoral rollback assessment using 30° flexion and active full flexion lateral radiographs, serial change of the osteophyte, and outcomes were compared. Results: The mean follow-up period was 49.35 ± 3.47 months in group 1 and 47.52 ± 3.37 months in group 2. Posterior component coverage was significantly different between the groups: group 1 exhibited more underhang and group 2 exhibited more overhang (p = 0.022). On the indirect assessment of the femoral rollback, there was a statistically significant difference in deep flexion and change in distance (p < 0.001 and p < 0.001, respectively). There was no statistical difference between the 2 groups in the American Knee Society knee and function score, and group 2 showed significant improvement in pain compared to group 1 in Western Ontario and McMaster University Arthritis Index pain score (p = 0.029). Conclusions: Posterior condylar osteophyte formation was related to posterior impingement. It was more frequently observed in the underhang of the femoral component and insufficient femoral rollback. In addition, it changed with time and caused negative effects, including a gradual decrease in flexion and more pain.

Osteophytes are routinely removed during total knee arthroplasty, yet the preoperative planning currently relies on preoperative computed tomography (CT) scans of the patient's osteoarthritic knee, typically including osteophytic features. This complicates the surgeon's ability to anticipate the exact biomechanical effects of osteophytes and the consequences of their removal before the operation. The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of osteophytes on ligament strains and kinematics, and ascertain whether the osteophyte volume and location determine the extent of this effect. We segmented preoperative CT scans of 21 patients, featuring different osteophyte severity, using image-based active appearance models trained to identify the osteophytic and preosteophytic bone geometries and estimate the cartilage thickness in the segmented surfaces. The patients' morphologies were used to scale a template musculoskeletal knee model. Osteophytes induced clinically relevant changes to the knee's functional behavior, but these were variable and patient-specific. Generally, severe osteophytic knees significantly strained the oblique popliteal ligament (OPL) and posterior capsule (PC) relative to the preosteophytic state. Furthermore, there was a marked effect on the lateral collateral ligament and anterolateral ligament (ALL) strains compared to mild and moderate osteophytic knees, and concurrent alterations in the tibial lateral-medial translation and external-internal rotation. We found a strong correlation between the OPL, PC, and ALL strains and posterolateral condylar and tibial osteophytes, respectively. Our findings may have implications for the preoperative planning in total knee arthroplasty, toward reproducing the physiological knee biomechanics as close as feasibly possible.

BACKGROUND: Surgeons have limited knowledge of the lumbar intervertebral foramina. This study aimed to classify osteophytes in the lumbar intervertebral foramen and to determine their pathoanatomical characteristics, discuss their potential biomechanical effects, and contribute to developing surgical methods. METHODS: We conducted a retrospective, non-randomized, single-center study involving 1224 patients. The gender, age, and anatomical location of the osteophytes in the lumbar intervertebral foramina of the patients were recorded. RESULTS: Two hundred and forty-nine (20.34%) patients had one or more osteophytes in their lumbar 4 and 5 foramina. Of the 4896 foramina, 337 (6.88%) contained different types of osteophytes. Moreover, four anatomical types of osteophytes were found: mixed osteophytes in 181 (3.69%) foramina, osteophytes from the lower endplate of the superior vertebrae in 91 (1.85%) foramina, osteophytes from the junction of the pedicle and lamina of the upper vertebrae in 39 foramina (0.79%), and osteophytes from the upper endplate of the lower vertebrae in 26 (0.53%) foramina. The L4 foramen contained a significantly higher number of osteophytes than the L5 foramen. Osteophyte development increased significantly with age, with no difference between males and females. CONCLUSIONS: The findings show that osteophytic extrusions, which alter the natural anatomical structure of the lumbar intervertebral foramina, are common and can narrow the foramen.

Osteophytes are frequently observed in elderly people and most commonly appear at the anterior edge of the cervical and lumbar vertebrae body. The anterior osteophytes keep developing and will lead to neck/back pain over time. In clinical practice, the accurate measurement of the anterior osteophyte length and the understanding of the temporal progression of anterior osteophyte growth are of vital importance to clinicians for effective treatment planning. This study proposes a new measuring method using the osteophyte ratio index to quantify anterior osteophyte length based on lateral radiographs. Moreover, we develop a continuous stochastic degradation model with time-related functions to characterize the anterior osteophyte formation and growth process on cervical and lumbar vertebrae over time. Follow-up data of anterior osteophytes up to 9 years are obtained for measurement and model validation. The agreement test indicates excellent reproducibility for our measuring method. The proposed model accurately fits the osteophyte growth paths. The model predicts the mean time to onset of pain and obtained survival function of the degenerative vertebrae. This research opens the door to future quantification and mathematical modeling of the anterior osteophyte growth on human cervical and lumbar vertebrae. The measured follow-up data is shared for future studies.

OBJECTIVE: Given the ability of ultrasound imaging (USI) to depict tissue-specific morphological changes before the onset of pain and before the point of irreversible structural damage, USI could play a fundamental role in earlier detection and assessment of foot osteoarthritis (OA). The current guidelines require further refinement of anatomical landmarks to establish a standardized imaging procedure to improve the interpretability and reproducibility between studies evaluating the first metatarsophalangeal joint (MTPJ). The aims were to develop an USI acquisition procedure and grading system to examine OA features in the first MTPJ and to determine intra-examiner and inter-examiner reliability of a newly developed USI acquisition procedure. DESIGN: Thirty participants with first MTPJ OA confirmed radiographically with the use of the La Trobe Foot Atlas were included. An experienced sonographer applied a newly developed USI procedure to examine the following features: joint effusion, synovial hypertrophy, synovitis, joint space narrowing, osteophytes, and cartilage thickness. A semiquantitative grading system was applied to all features. A continuous measure was also examined for osteophyte size, joint space narrowing, and cartilage thickness. To determine the intra-examiner and inter-examiner reliability, an experienced radiologist and sonographer applied the developed grading system to the images acquired from two imaging sessions. Intra-examiner and inter-examiner reliability were calculated using intraclass correlation coefficients (ICCs). RESULTS: ICCs for intra-examiner between session reliability ranged from 0.58 to 0.92 for semiquantitative grading and 0.39 to 0.94 for continuous measures. Joint effusion and osteophytes achieved the highest intra-examiner reliability (ICC = 0.78-0.94). ICCs for session one inter-examiner reliability ranged from 0.61 to 1.0 for semiquantitative grading; all continuous measures had an ICC of 1. ICCs for session two inter-examiner reliability ranged from 0.55 to 1.0 for semiquantitative grading and 0.9 to 0.97 for continuous measures. Inter-examiner reliability was good for grading joint effusion (ICC = 0.55-0.62) and was excellent for all other USI features (ICC = 0.77-1.0). CONCLUSION: The USI acquisition procedure and grading system are reliable in evaluating first MTPJ OA features in participants with radiologically confirmed OA. The study will inform the methodological development of an ultrasound atlas for grading the degree of osteoarthritic change in the first MTPJ.

BACKGROUND: Subacromial spurs are considered the one of the pathology underlying shoulder impingement syndrome. Furthermore, few studies have focused on the morphology of the subacromial spurs in normal Chinese people. This study aimed to study the spur distribution and to illustrate the morphology of spurs, which may help guide the extent of acromioplasty. METHODS: A total of 93 normal individuals were enrolled, and both shoulders of all enrolled individuals were analyzed. The subjects were divided and classified into three different groups by ages: group I = 18-40 years, group II = 41-60 years, and group III ≥ 61 years. The osteophyte distribution, osteophyte area, subacromial surface area and osteophyte area/subacromial surface area ratio were measured and illustrated using Mimics and 3-matic software. The shape of the acromion was classified according to the Bigliani and Morrison classification system. The acromial angle was also classified. Then, the relationship between osteophytes, acromial classification and acromial angle was analyzed. RESULTS: Type II (curved shape) was the most common type of acromion, and the hooked shape was a rare form. A significant increase in the left subacromial surface area in males was observed in group III compared with group I (P < 0.001) and group II (P = 0.004). The total spur/subacromial area ratio was significantly higher in group II than I. An obvious increase in the right subacromial area was observed in group III compared with group I (P = 0.004). Furthermore, there was a significant increase in the right spur area (P = 0.021) and total spur/subacromial area ratio (P = 0.006) in females in group II compared with group I. Fewer spurs were observed on the left than on the right side (p = 0.0482). One spur was most common among type II acromions (29/36) (80.56%) on the left side and the right side (34/52, 65.38%). CONCLUSIONS: Spurs osteophytes are mainly distributed with an irregular shape and mostly run through the medial and lateral sides of the subacromial surface in normal subjects. The characteristics of subacromial spurs are so diverse that a surgeon must conduct subacromial decompression completely based on the morphology of individual spurs.

Anterior cervical osteophytes are a fairly common X-ray finding in people over 50 years old. Incidence of dysphagia in patients with anterior osteophytes varies from 1% in those aged 40-60 years to 10.6% in patients over 60 years old. The most common causes of anterior cervical hyperosteophytosis causing dysphagia are cervical spondylosis deformans and Forestier disease. We present 2 clinical cases of spondylogenic dysphagia in cervical spondylosis deformans and Forestier disease. The review is devoted to the causes and diagnostic methods for dysphagia caused by anterior cervical osteophytes, as well as surgical options for this pathology. CONCLUSION: Microsurgical resection of anterior osteophytes is an effective method for dysphagia after ineffective therapy for 3 months. Microsurgical osteophytectomy provides stable regression of dysphagia with low recurrence rate.

In this study, we investigated the discriminative capacity of knee morphology in automatic detection of osteophytes defined by the Osteoarthritis Research Society International atlas, using X-ray and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) data. For the X-ray analysis, we developed a deep learning (DL) based model to segment femur and tibia. In case of MRIs, we utilized previously validated segmentations of femur, tibia, corresponding cartilage tissues, and menisci. Osteophyte detection was performed using DL models in four compartments: medial femur (FM), lateral femur (FL), medial tibia (TM), and lateral tibia (TL). To analyze the confounding effects of soft tissues, we investigated their morphology in combination with bones, including bones+cartilage, bones+menisci, and all the tissues. From X-ray-based 2D morphology, the models yielded balanced accuracy of 0.73, 0.69, 0.74, and 0.74 for FM, FL, TM, TL, respectively. Using 3D bone morphology from MRI, balanced accuracy was 0.80, 0.77, 0.71, and 0.76, respectively. The performance was higher than in 2D for all the compartments except for TM, with significant improvements observed for femoral compartments. Adding menisci or cartilage morphology consistently improved balanced accuracy in TM, with the greatest improvement seen for small osteophyte. Otherwise, the models performed similarly to bones-only. Our experiments demonstrated that MRI-based models show higher detection capability than X-ray based models for identifying knee osteophytes. This study highlighted the feasibility of automated osteophyte detection from X-ray and MRI data and suggested further need for development of osteophyte assessment criteria in addition to OARSI, particularly, for early osteophytic changes.

Automatic vertebral osteophyte recognition in Digital Radiography is of great importance for the early prediction of degenerative disease but is still a challenge because of the tiny size and high inter-class similarity between normal and osteophyte vertebrae. Meanwhile, common sampling strategies applied in Convolution Neural Network could cause detailed context loss. All of these could lead to an incorrect positioning predicament. In this paper, based on important pathological priors, we define a set of potential lesions of each vertebra and propose a novel Pathological Priors Inspired Network (PPIN) to achieve accurate osteophyte recognition. PPIN comprises a backbone feature extractor integrating with a Wavelet Transform Sampling module for high-frequency detailed context extraction, a detection branch for locating all potential lesions and a classification branch for producing final osteophyte recognition. The Anatomical Map-guided Filter between two branches helps the network focus on the specific anatomical regions via the generated heatmaps of potential lesions in the detection branch to address the incorrect positioning problem. To reduce the inter-class similarity, a Bilateral Augmentation Module based on the graph relationship is proposed to imitate the clinical diagnosis process and to extract discriminative contextual information between adjacent vertebrae in the classification branch. Experiments on the two osteophytes-specific datasets collected from the public VinDr-Spine database show that the proposed PPIN achieves the best recognition performance among multitask frameworks and shows strong generalization. The results on a private dataset demonstrate the potential in clinical application. The Class Activation Maps also show the powerful localization capability of PPIN. STUDY DESIGN: Retrospective cohort study. OBJECTIVE: (1) To develop a reliable grading system to assess the severity of posterior intervertebral osteophytes and (2) to investigate the impact of posterior intervertebral osteophytes on clinical outcomes after L5-S1 decompression and fusion through anterior lumbar interbody fusion (ALIF) and minimally-invasive transforaminal lumbar interbody fusion (MIS-TLIF). BACKGROUND: There is limited evidence regarding the clinical implications of posterior lumbar vertebral body osteophytes for ALIF and MIS-TLIF surgeries and there are no established grading systems that define the severity of these posterior lumbar intervertebral osteophytes. PATIENTS AND METHODS: A retrospective analysis of patients undergoing L5-S1 ALIF or MIS-TLIF was performed. Preoperative and postoperative patient-reported outcome measures of the Oswestry Disability Index (ODI) and leg Visual Analog Scale (VAS) at 2-week, 6-week, 12-week, and 6-month follow-up time points were assessed. Minimal clinically important difference (MCID) for ODI of 14.9 and VAS leg of 2.8 were utilized. Osteophyte grade was based on the ratio of osteophyte length to foraminal width. "High-grade" osteophytes were defined as a maximal osteophyte length >50% of the total foraminal width. RESULTS: A total of 70 consecutive patients (32 ALIF and 38 MIS-TLIF) were included in the study. There were no significant differences between the two cohorts in patient-reported outcome measures or achievement of MCID for Leg VAS or ODI preoperatively or at any follow-ups. On multivariate analysis, neither the surgical approach nor the presence of high-grade foraminal osteophytes was associated with leg VAS or ODI scores at any follow-up time point. In addition, neither the surgical approach nor the presence of high-grade foraminal osteophytes was associated with the achievement of MCID for leg VAS or ODI at 6 months. CONCLUSION: ALIF and MIS-TLIF are both valid options for treating degenerative spine conditions and lumbar radiculopathy, even in the presence of high-grade osteophytes that significantly occupy the intervertebral foramen. PURPOSE: The primary goal of this study was to investigate whether superior humeral head osteophyte (SHO) size is associated with rotator cuff insufficiency, including rotator cuff tear (RCT), supraspinatus tendon thickness, and fatty infiltration of the rotator cuff muscles. METHODS: Patients ≥ 18 years who were diagnosed with glenohumeral osteoarthritis were retrospectively reviewed. SHO size was determined by radiograph. MRI measured SHO and RCT presence, type, and size; supraspinatus tendon thickness; and fatty infiltration of rotator cuff musculature. RESULTS: A total of 461 patients were included. Mean SHO size was 1.93 mm on radiographs and 2.13 mm on MRI. Risk ratio for a RCT was 1.14. For each 1-mm increase in SHO size on radiograph, supraspinatus tendon thickness decreased by 0.20 mm. SHO presence was associated with moderate-to-severe fatty infiltration of the supraspinatus with a risk ratio of 3.16. CONCLUSION: SHOs were not associated with RCT but were associated with higher risk of supraspinatus FI and decreased tendon thickness, which could indicate rotator cuff insufficiency. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between vertebral margins at individual vertebral levels between T12-L5 vertebra and chronological age and develop predictive models. Three hundred and nineteen CT scans from a medical imaging database in North America were randomly selected. Three superior and inferior vertebral margin sites were scored based on observable age-related changes. All individual vertebral margin site scores significantly correlated with age at death with Pearson r values ranging from 0.47 to 0.77. Totaling the individual vertebral margin site scores for L1-L5 improved Pearson r to 0.92. All resulting predictive models were significant, and the best models predicted age at death within 10 years 70%-76% of the time for males, females, and combined male and females. In conclusion, this study produced accurate and reliable models to predict age at death using age-related changes in the spine for a North American population.

OBJECTIVE: We tested the diagnostic accuracy of previously proposed magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) osteoarthritis (OA) definitions in a cohort after acute anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury. METHODS: We studied participants with posteroanterior and lateral knee radiographs and MRI 5 years after ACL injury, scored using the Anterior Cruciate Ligament Osteoarthritis Score. Radiographic OA (ROA) was defined using Osteoarthritis Research Society International scoring of osteophytes and joint space narrowing considering medial/lateral tibiofemoral and patellofemoral compartments. We tested three candidate MRI OA definitions that performed well in an older adult cohort. "Multicenter Osteoarthritis Study (MOST) simple" required cartilage score ≥2 (range 0-6) and osteophyte score ≥2 (0-7); "MOST optional" included cartilage score ≥2, osteophyte score ≥2, and either bone marrow lesions (BMLs) ≥1 (0-3) or synovitis ≥2 (0-3). The third, a Delphi panel definition, included nonzero scores for cartilage, osteophyte, BMLs, meniscus, and other structures. We calculated sensitivity and specificity with 95% confidence intervals (95% CIs) for each MRI definition versus ROA. RESULTS: We included 113 participants (mean age 26 years, 26% female). At 5 years, 29 participants (26%) had ROA. "MOST simple" had a sensitivity of 52% (95% CI 33%-71%), and specificity of 76% (95% CI 66%-85%). Sensitivity and specificities for "MOST optional" were 28% (95% CI 29%-67%) and 83% (95% CI 74%-91%), respectively. The Delphi panel definition had a sensitivity of 48% (95% CI 29%-67%) and specificity of 77% (95% CI 67%-86%). CONCLUSION: Simple MRI-based OA definitions requiring at least cartilage damage and an osteophyte have low sensitivity and high specificity in young persons after knee injury.

The aim of this human cadaveric study was to investigate the relationship between temporomandibular joint disc perforation and bony changes of the mandibular condyle. Overall, 135 cadaveric mandibles were used (69 male, 66 female; all White). Mean age at death was 78.7 years. Perforation of the disc was investigated. Differences in the area of the perforation according to the different types of bony change (erosion, flattening, osteophyte) were evaluated. Perforation of the disc was observed in 34.8% of all mandibles, occurring unilaterally in 53.2% of cases and bilaterally in 46.8%. The prevalence of perforation was 16.4% in cadavers <80 years old (67 heads) and 52.9% in those ≥80 years old (68 heads) (P < 0.001). Osteophyte formation was always identified along with other bony changes (21.7%) and never in isolation. The area of the perforation was significantly larger in the groups with bony changes (one, two, or three changes) than in the 'no bony change' group. The group with osteophyte formation showed a significantly larger perforated area than the group without osteophyte formation; likewise, the group with flattening showed a significantly larger perforated area than the group without flattening. Osteophytes and flattening are probably secondary bony changes that occur following disc perforation. Based on this study, disc perforation should be suspected when these findings are identified on imaging.

The analysis of the sternoclavicular joint holds significant importance in forensic anthropology, especially through the evaluation of medial clavicular ossification stage, which, however, is helpful only in subjects younger than 30 years of age. Given this limitation, the aim of the present work was to examine, through micro-CT, the surface of sternoclavicular joints of deceased individuals across various age groups, aiming to identify age-related degenerative changes applicable to age estimation in adults over 30 years old. A total of 41 deceased subjects were categorized into three age groups (20-39 years; 40-59 years; ≥60 years) for the analysis. Degenerative morphological features on both clavicular and sternal articular surfaces, including topography, porosity, and presence of osteophytes, were evaluated using a composite scoring system based on a modified "Falys-Prangle method.", which assigns to each parameter specific score ranges: 1-3 for surface topography (smooth, slightly irregular, markedly irregular), 1-6 for porosity (absent, micro- and macroporosity for <50 % or >50 % of surface, surface breakdown), 1-3 for osteophytes (absent, present, not evaluable). The findings revealed a positive correlation between degenerative morphological features and age for both clavicular (rs = 0.719) and sternal articular surfaces (rs = 0.750). Additionally, the combined assessment of the clavicle and sternum, or the evaluation of the clavicle alone, exhibited better differentiation among the three age groups. The micro-CT evaluation of degenerative alterations affecting the sternoclavicular joint proves to be a reliable and efficient method for age estimation in adults.

OBJECTIVE: To systematically review the association of pain, function, and progression in first carpometacarpal (CMC) osteoarthritis (OA) with imaging biomarkers and radiography-based staging. DESIGN: Database searches in PubMed, Embase, and the Cochrane Library, along with citation searching were conducted in accordance with published guidance. Data on the association of imaging with pain, functional status, and disease progression were extracted and synthesized, along with key information on study methodology such as sample sizes, use of control subjects, study design, number of image raters, and blinding. Methodological quality was assessed using National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute tools. RESULTS: After duplicate removal, a total of 1969 records were screened. Forty-six articles are included in this review, covering a total of 28,202 study participants, 7263 with first CMC OA. Osteophytes were found to be one of the strongest biomarkers for pain across imaging modalities. Radiographic findings alone showed conflicting relationships with pain. However, Kellgren-Lawrence staging showed consistent associations with pain in various studies. Radiographic, sonographic, and MRI findings and staging showed little association to tools evaluating functional status across imaging modalities. The same imaging methods showed limited ability to predict progression of first CMC OA. A major limitation was the heterogeneity in the study base, limiting synthesis of results. CONCLUSION: Imaging findings and radiography-based staging systems generally showed strong associations with pain, but not with functional status or disease progression. More research and improved imaging techniques are needed to help physicians better manage patients with first CMC OA.

We reported that the full-length width of medial tibial osteophytes comprising cartilage and bone parts correlates with medial meniscus extrusion (MME) in early-stage knee osteoarthritis (OA). However, no data exist on the prevalence of MME and its relationship with osteophytes in the elderly population. 1191 elderly individuals (females 57%; 72.9 years old on average) in the Bunkyo Health Study underwent standing plain radiograph and proton density-weighted MRI on knee joints. MRI-detected OA changes were evaluated according to the Whole-Organ Magnetic Resonance Imaging Score. A new method of assessing the cartilage and bone parts of osteophytes was developed using pseudo-coloring images of proton density-weighted fat-suppressed MRI. Most subjects showed Kellgren-Lawrence grade 1 or 2 radiographic medial knee OA (88.1%), MME (98.7%, 3.90 ± 2.01 mm), and medial tibial osteophytes (99.3%, 3.27 ± 1.50 mm). Regarding OA changes, MME was closely associated with the full-length width of medial tibial osteophytes (ß = 1.114; 95% CI 1.069-1.159; p < 0.001) in line with osteophyte width (intraclass correlation coefficient, 0.804; 95% CI 0.783-0.823). Our data revealed that MME and medial tibial osteophytes are observed in the elderly and demonstrate that the degree of MME is consistent with the full-length width of medial tibial osteophytes, suggesting that osteophytes might be implicated in MME.

BACKGROUND AND AIM: The aim of this study is to evaluate the changes in the temporomandibular joint (TMJ) in patients with temporomandibular disorder (TMD) and the relationship between age, sex, and types of TMJ change using Cone Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT). METHODS AND MATERIAL: CBCT records of 200 patients (123 women and 67 men) were retrieved and assessed. Right and left TMJs were evaluated separately, resulting in a total of 400 TMJs. The images were analyzed using On demand 3D Application The radiographic findings were classified as erosion, proliferative changes mainly, including flattening and osteophytes of the condyle, sclerosis, Ely cyst, hypoplasia and hyperplasia of the condyles, ankylosis, and joint cavity. Data analysis was performed using descriptive statistics, paired T-tests, and repeated measure ANOVA (Analysis of Variance) in SPSS Software. RESULTS: The most prevalent types of condylar bony changes observed was osteophyte (63.5%) followed by flattening of the articular surface (42%), erosion (40%), ankylosis (10%) and sclerosis (10%). 7.5% of joints showed hyperplastic condyles but only 2% showed hypoplasia. The least prevalent change observed was Ely Cyst (1%). Osteophyte was the most prevalent change observed in all age groups and both sexes except for men aged 31 ~ 50, where flattening was more frequent. A statistically significant difference was found between sex and prevalence of erosion in the age group of 10 ~ 30 (P = 0.001); as well as between sex and condylar hyperplasia in the same age group. CONCLUSION: Based on the findings of this research, the prevalence of bony changes of TMJ from highest to lowest is as follows: osteophyte, flattening of the articular surface, erosion, ankylosis, sclerosis, hyperplastic condyles, hypoplastic condyles and Ely Cyst. CBCT is an accurate 3 dimensional imaging modality for assessment of TMJ bony structures.
