RESUMO

Morphological study of 120 autopsy cases of newborns who died of intrauterine pneumonia, respiratory distress, hemorrhage into the brain ventricles and asphyxia revealed that in all these diseases intravascular blood coagulation develops which can be disseminated or local. Morphological manifestations of DIC-syndrome in newborns are described. The development of DIC-syndrome 18-24 hours before death is considered as a sign of compensatory-adaptive failure at the level of microcirculatory bed (type of "blood degeneration").

RESUMO

The program has been developed for biopsy diagnosis in lymph node disease including tumors. The expert knowledge is based on the information about more than 200 morphological symptoms of 37 nosological unities: reactive lymphoid hyperplasia, metastatic tumors, granulomatous disease and others. The decision three consists of three sections: diffuse nontumor processes, inflammatory focal processes and tumor diffuse and focal processes. The system can provide a "second opinion" for pathologists in their professional activity and may useful as a teaching tool for medical students.

RESUMO

To establish the incidence of the disseminated intravascular coagulation (DIC) syndrome, 76 patients who had died from acute myocardial infarction were clinically and anatomically analysed. The studies indicated that microcirculatory thrombosis in myocardial infarction occurred in the first to early second weeks of its development and localized in minor veins of one organ and only in 21.4% of cases it involved three organs or more. The DIC-syndrome was morphologically evidenced only in 19.1% of the patients having a history of cardiogenic shock. Microcirculatory thrombosis more frequently occurred in females. Old age, persistent hypertension, diabetes mellitus were found to predispose to its development.

RESUMO

Rabbit experiments indicated that resection of a half of the oviduct anastomosed failed to impair its function and reproduction of viable progeny. With greatly varying diameters of sutured pieces, the valuable anastomosis was made by additional cuts of the narrow end of the oviduct. Analysis of 332 case histories and morphological studies of 10 control and 70 pregnant tubes suggested criteria for selection of patients, for organ-preserving surgeries. The latter could be performed nearly in 50% of females with tubal pregnancy in the form of stomatoplasty or anastomosis. The results of the study were tested in 8 females in the clinical setting who all exhibited a full recovery of tubal patency.

RESUMO

The authors studied the effect of CO2 laser with an energy density ranging from 0.1 to 300 mVt/cm2 on reparative regeneration of experimental wounds. The criteria of the efficacy of laser therapy were the wound surface area, the surface of the necrotic area, cellular composition and the content of collagen and glycosaminoglycans in the granulation tissue. Laser radiation with an energy density of 0.5 and 4 mVt/cm2 and exposure of 2 min appeared to produce the most beneficial effect on reparative regeneration.

RESUMO

Morphology of the brain and its meninges, and internal organs in a girl of 3.5 months is described. The variety of size and shape of the so-called globoid cells in the brain and its meninges is shown. The peculiarity of the observation consists in combination of the underlying disease with disseminated intravascular thrombosis with renal cortex necrosis and uremia.

RESUMO

The effect of infrared laser on skin wound healing has been studied on 88 rats. Irradiated animals show increased red cell count in the wound discharge and diminished RNA and glycogen contents in macrophages and monocytes. The first week of irradiation is marked by enhanced activity of NADP x H2-dehydrogenase and ATPase as well as by increase in the oxygen consumption rate. Irradiation does not accelerate wound heling but leads to the formation of a thinner scar as compared to control and reduces the frequency of wound suppurations.

RESUMO

In experiments on cats it was shown that 30 minutes after intravenous injection of botulinum toxin, type C, there was a fall in the catecholamine and histamine contents with a simultaneous increase of serotonin in various structures of the brain and spinal cord and in a number of inner organs as well. The metabolic changes in the biogenic amines were combined with certain pathomorphologic changes seen in the form of acute swelling, chromatolysis, destruction of some neurons of the spinal cord and brain, distrophic changes in inner organs, and an increased permeability of the blood-tissue barriers. Marked biochemical and pathomorphologic changes in the spinal cord and brain where the minimum concentration of toxin becomes manifest during its spreading allow a conclusion that botulinum neurotoxin shows its pathogenic action through a disturbed metabolism of biologically active substances.
