RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Lung cancer (LC) is a harmful malignant tumor and potentially lethal illness. Therefore, early detection of LC is an urgent need, and dependent on the type of histology and the type of disease. The use of deep learning algorithms (DL) is required to analyse the histopathology images of LC and make treatment decisions accordingly. OBJECTIVE: This study aimed to apply pretrained EfficientNetB7 model to facilitate the process of classifying LC histopathology images as primary malignancy categories (adenocarcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma and large cell carcinoma) for early treatment of LC patients. Also, aims to analyse the performance of the proposed model using the accuracy measure. METHODS: The dataset of 15000 histopathology images of lung cancer were examined. EfficientNetB7, a special type of convolution neural network (CNN), pretrained with ImageNet for transfer learning were trained on this dataset. Accuracy metric was used for the evaluation of the proposed model RESULTS: The feature extraction was performed by applying transfer learning using EfficientNetB7 as pretrained model. The proposed model achieved 99.77% accuracy, while previous studies model achieved over 90 to 99% accuracy. CONCLUSION: The employment of CNN based EfficientNetB7 model for the classification of LC based on histopathology images can speed up the diagnosis of LC and reduce the burden on pathologists for the early treatment of patients.

RESUMO

One of the leading causes of death among people around the world is skin cancer. It is critical to identify and classify skin cancer early to assist patients in taking the right course of action. Additionally, melanoma, one of the main skin cancer illnesses, is curable when detected and treated at an early stage. More than 75% of fatalities worldwide are related to skin cancer. A novel Artificial Golden Eagle-based Random Forest (AGEbRF) is created in this study to predict skin cancer cells at an early stage. Dermoscopic images are used in this instance as the dataset for the system's training. Additionally, the dermoscopic image information is processed using the established AGEbRF function to identify and segment the skin cancer-affected area. Additionally, this approach is simulated using a Python program, and the current research's parameters are assessed against those of earlier studies. The results demonstrate that, compared to other models, the new research model produces better accuracy for predicting skin cancer by segmentation.

RESUMO

In smart cities, the fast increase in automobiles has caused congestion, pollution, and disruptions in the transportation of commodities. Each year, there are more fatalities and cases of permanent impairment due to everyday road accidents. To control traffic congestion, provide secure data transmission also detecting accidents the IoT-based Traffic Management System is used. To identify, gather, and send data, autonomous cars, and intelligent gadgets are equipped with an IoT-based ITM system with a group of sensors. The transport system is being improved via machine learning. In this work, an Adaptive Traffic Management system (ATM) with an accident alert sound system (AALS) is used for managing traffic congestion and detecting the accident. For secure traffic data transmission Secure Early Traffic-Related EveNt Detection (SEE-TREND) is used. The design makes use of several scenarios to address every potential problem with the transportation system. The suggested ATM model continuously modifies the timing of traffic signals based on the volume of traffic and anticipated movements from neighboring junctions. By progressively allowing cars to pass green lights, it considerably reduces traveling time. It also relieves traffic congestion by creating a seamless transition. The results of the trial show that the suggested ATM system fared noticeably better than the traditional traffic-management method and will be a leader in transportation planning for smart-city-based transportation systems. The suggested ATM-ALTREND solution provides secure traffic data transmission that decreases traffic jams and vehicle wait times, lowers accident rates, and enhances the entire travel experience.

RESUMO

Diabetes is a chronic hyperglycemic disorder that leads to a group of metabolic diseases. This condition of chronic hyperglycemia is caused by abnormal insulin levels. The impact of hyperglycemia on the human vascular tree is the leading cause of disease and death in type 1 and type 2 diabetes. People with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) have abnormal secretion as well as the action of insulin. Type 2 (non-insulin-dependent) diabetes is caused by a combination of genetic factors associated with decreased insulin production, insulin resistance, and environmental conditions. These conditions include overeating, lack of exercise, obesity, and aging. Glucose transport limits the rate of dietary glucose used by fat and muscle. The glucose transporter GLUT4 is kept intracellular and sorted dynamically, and GLUT4 translocation or insulin-regulated vesicular traffic distributes it to the plasma membrane. Different chemical compounds have antidiabetic properties. The complexity, metabolism, digestion, and interaction of these chemical compounds make it difficult to understand and apply them to reduce chronic inflammation and thus prevent chronic disease. In this study, we have applied a virtual screening approach to screen the most suitable and drug-able chemical compounds to be used as potential drug targets against T2DM. We have found that out of 5000 chemical compounds that we have analyzed, only two are known to be more effective as per our experiments based upon molecular docking studies and virtual screening through Lipinski's rule and ADMET properties.

RESUMO

In recent years, breast cancer detection is an important area of concentration towards curative image dispensation and exploration. Detection of a disease at an early stage is an important factor in taking it to the next level of treatment. Accuracy plays an important role in the detection of disease. COA-T2FCM (Chimp Optimization Algorithm Based Type-2 Intuitionistic Fuzzy C-Means Clustering) is constructed for detection of such malignancy with the highest accuracy in this paper. The proposed detection process is designed with the combination of type-2 intuitionistic fuzzy c-means clustering in addition to oppositional function. In the type-2 intuitionistic fuzzy c-means clustering, the efficient cluster center can be preferred using the chimp optimization algorithm. Initially, the objective function of the type-2 intuitionistic fuzzy c-means clustering is considered. The chimp optimization algorithm is utilized to optimize the cluster center and fuzzifier in the clustering method. The projected technique is implemented, and in addition, performance metrics such as specificity, sensitivity, accuracy, Jaccard Similarity Index (JSI), and Dice Similarity Coefficient (DSC) are assessed. The projected technique is compared with the conventional technique such as fuzzy c means clustering and k mean clustering methods. The resulting method was also compared with existing methods to ensure the accuracy in the proposed method. The proposed algorithm is tested for its effectiveness on the mammogram images of the three different datasets collected from the Mini-Mammographic Image Analysis Society (Mini-MIAS), the Digital Database for Screening Mammography (DDSM), and Inbreast. The accuracy and Jaccard index score are generally used to measure the similarity between the proposed output and the actual cancer affected regions from the image considered. On an average the proposed method achieved an accuracy of 97.29% and JSI of 95.

RESUMO

Alzheimer's disease (AD) is mainly a neurodegenerative sickness. The primary characteristics are neuronal atrophy, amyloid deposition, and cognitive, behavioral, and psychiatric disorders. Numerous machine learning (ML) algorithms have been investigated and applied to AD identification over the past decades, emphasizing the subtle prodromal stage of mild cognitive impairment (MCI) to assess critical features that distinguish the disease's early manifestation and instruction for early detection and treatment. Identifying early MCI (EMCI) remains challenging due to the difficulty in distinguishing patients with cognitive normality from those with MCI. As a result, most classification algorithms for these two groups perform poorly. This paper proposes a hybrid Deep Learning Approach for the early detection of Alzheimer's disease. A method for early AD detection using multimodal imaging and Convolutional Neural Network with the Long Short-term memory algorithm combines magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), positron emission tomography (PET), and standard neuropsychological test scores. The proposed methodology updates the learning weights, and Adam's optimization is used to increase accuracy. The system has an unparalleled accuracy of 98.5% in classifying cognitively normal controls from EMCI. These results imply that deep neural networks may be trained to automatically discover imaging biomarkers indicative of AD and use them to identify the illness accurately.

RESUMO

Melanoma is a kind of skin cancer caused by the irregular development of pigment-producing cells. Since melanoma detection efficiency is limited to different factors such as poor contrast among lesions and nearby skin regions, and visual resemblance among melanoma and non-melanoma lesions, intelligent computer-aided diagnosis (CAD) models are essential. Recently, computational intelligence (CI) and deep learning (DL) techniques are utilized for effective decision-making in the biomedical field. In addition, the fast-growing advancements in computer-aided surgeries and recent progress in molecular, cellular, and tissue engineering research have made CI an inevitable part of biomedical applications. In this view, the research work here develops a novel computational intelligence-based melanoma detection and classification technique using dermoscopic images (CIMDC-DIs). The proposed CIMDC-DI model encompasses different subprocesses. Primarily, bilateral filtering with fuzzy k-means (FKM) clustering-based image segmentation is applied as a preprocessing step. Besides, NasNet-based feature extractor with stochastic gradient descent is applied for feature extraction. Finally, the manta ray foraging optimization (MRFO) algorithm with a cascaded neural network (CNN) is exploited for the classification process. To ensure the potential efficiency of the CIMDC-DI technique, we conducted a wide-ranging simulation analysis, and the results reported its effectiveness over the existing recent algorithms with the maximum accuracy of 97.50%.

RESUMO

One of the most dangerous diseases that threaten people is cancer. If diagnosed in earlier stages, cancer, with its life-threatening consequences, has the possibility of eradication. In addition, accuracy in prediction plays a significant role. Hence, developing a reliable model that contributes much towards the medical community in the early diagnosis of biopsy images with perfect accuracy comes to the forefront. This article aims to develop better predictive models using multivariate data and high-resolution diagnostic tools in clinical cancer research. This paper proposes the social spider optimisation (SSO) algorithm-tuned neural network to classify microscopic biopsy images of cancer. The significance of the proposed model relies on the effective tuning of the weights of the neural network classifier by the SSO algorithm. The performance of the proposed strategy is analysed with performance metrics such as accuracy, sensitivity, specificity, and MCC measures, and the attained results are 95.9181%, 94.2515%, 97.125%, and 97.68%, respectively, which shows the effectiveness of the proposed method for cancer disease diagnosis.
