RESUMO
Inflammatory bowel diseases are associated with a state of hypercoagulability secondary to several mechanisms, protein S deficiency being one of these. It can be revealed by spontaneous skin necrosis in children. This condition is rare in adults with Crohn's disease. We are reporting a case of a 35-year-old woman with active Crohn's disease who presented a protein S deficiency responsible for an extensive spontaneous skin necrosis. The evolution was favourable after vascular filling, curative anticoagulation, antibiotic therapy, as well as a high-dose of corticosteroid therapy. We are reporting this case in order to emphasize the importance of considering skin necrosis as a possible cutaneous manifestation of inflammatory bowel diseases.

OBJECTIVE: Carcinoid tumors are among the exceptional neoplasms of the larynx. The literature is reviewed and the problems with diagnosis and management of this rare tumor are discussed. METHODS: The authors report a case of a carcinoid tumor of the larynx. RESULTS: This paper describes the case of a well-differentiated carcinoid tumor of the aryepiglottic fold in a 59-year-old woman who presented with hoarseness lasting eight months. After surgical excision, the patient developed recurrence of the disease 14 years later. CONCLUSION: Carcinoid tumors require accurate diagnosis because of their varied clinical behavior and prognosis. The typical carcinoid treatment of choice is conservative surgery.

Inflammatory pseudotumors of the spleen (IPTS) are rare. We report a case of an IPTS in a 48-year-old woman who was admitted for drug eruption. During her hospitalization, she complained of abdominal pain. Physical examination and laboratory investigations were unremarkable. The abdominal ultrasonography and hepatic MRI detected a heterogeneous mass in the spleen measuring approximately 5 cm in diameter. Partial splenectomy was performed. Histologically, the splenic mass was composed of an admixture of inflammatory cellular elements with hemorrhage and sclerosis, suggestive of an IPTS. The postoperative course was uneventful. The authors attempt to make a radiopathologic correlation of this rare tumor.

Two new cases of human subconjunctival dirofilariasis are reported in Tunisia. Dirofilaria immitis was identified in the first case and Dirofilaria repens in the second. Diagnosis was made by histological examination of excised nodules. We note that the patients are young (8 and 10 years, respectively) and that cases of human dirofilariasis caused by Dirofilaria immitis are present in Tunisia.
