The results of the placebo-controlled multicenter study of the epidemiological efficiency of the preparation Cycloferon for the prophylaxis of acute respiratory viral infections in children and adolescents are presented. A total of 16,000 children and adolescents were selected for the study. The epidemiological efficiency of the preparation manifested in 1.5- 2.9-fold decreased morbidity level with a protection index equal to 41 - 90%, was demonstrated.

A total of 117 children with chronic pyelonephritis (CP) aged 4-14 were examined and treated. 57 of them having attendant cystitis received multimodality treatment comprising local intravesicular instillations of chigain controlled by clinical findings, urinalysis, cystoscopy and urinary secretory immunoglobulins SIg A1, SIg A2 and IgG. The drug chigain capable of immune replacement was found to initiate clinical response, positive trends in urinalysis and cystoscopy data, in the levels of secretory urine immunoglobulins. The findings show the need of immune replacement therapy in the complex of modalities to treat children with CP combined with cystitis.

Overall 180 children with bronchial asthma induced by sensitization to Dermatophagoides pteronyssinus and Dermatophagoides farinae were examined clinically and immunologically. The patients' age ranged from 1 to 14 years. A relationship was established between bronchial asthma exacerbation and the stay at home. In that disease pattern, asphyxia attacks were noted to occur more frequently in the evening and night hours. Emphasis is laid on the leading part played by the IgE-mediated mechanism in bronchial asthma induced by tick-borne sensitization. In children suffering from that pattern of bronchial asthma, specific hyposensitization with Dermatophagoides pteronyssinus allergens and antiallergic immunoglobulin were found to be highly effective.
