RESUMO

Experiments on rats have shown that after 3-4 months thymectomy leads to hypercoagulation followed by the increased level of fibrinogen. As compared with intact rats, the thymectomized animals manifested a less pronounced increase in the concentration of the anticoagulants, and less stimulation of fibrinolysis in response to intravenous injection of thrombin. This is regarded as one of the reasons for a more frequent death of the operated animals.

RESUMO

Experiments were made on 20 cats to show that within the first minutes intravenous administration of thrombin led to the enhancement of blood coagulation, an abrupt lowering in fibrinogen concentration, growth of antithrombin III activity and inhibition of fibrinolysis. 30-60 minutes after thrombin injection there developed a secondary hypocoagulation accompanied by the increment of the level of natural anticoagulants and by drastic enhancement of fibrinolysis. In animals given timalin in a dose of 2 mg for 5 days, the injection of thrombin produced a more remarkable increase in blood fibrinolytic activity.

RESUMO

It was shown in dog experiments that intravenous infusion of 30 and 70 U/kg of thrombin leads to the development of a short-term hypercoagulation phase which is replaced by long-term hypocoagulation and marked stimulation of fibrinolysis. An electrocardiogram provides evidence that after the infusion of 70 U/kg of thrombin acute ischemic disorders of coronary circulation develop in the dogs and remain for 3 days. The authors contend that the appearance of high doses of thrombin in the vascular channel is not a physiological reaction.

RESUMO

Appearing of thrombin in vessels leads to formation of fibrin clots followed by consumption of clotting factors and developing of repeated hypocoagulation. In dissolution of fibrin the important role belongs to fibrinolysis, leucocytes, and reticuloendothelium. I. v. administration of thrombin in frogs with destroyed spinal cord caused intravascular clotting with following readjustment of blood flow. Dissolution of the clots in vagotomized frogs occurred more slowly than in intact frogs.
