RESUMO
OBJETIVO: Descrever o perfil epidemiológico dos adultos internados em um centro de tratamento referência em queimaduras. MÉTODO: Estudo descritivo, transversal, com abordagem quantitativa. Realizado em março de 2016, no Centro de Tratamento de Queimados do Hospital Dr. José Frota, Fortaleza, CE. RESULTADOS: Participaram 20 indivíduos adultos, prevalecendo o gênero masculino 11 (55%), com renda de um salário mínimo, baixo nível de escolaridade, provenientes do interior do Estado 14 (70%). O choque elétrico esteve presente em seis (30%) acidentes, os quais aconteceram no ambiente de trabalho. A maioria dos participantes, 11 (55%), apresentou superfície corporal queimada maior que 20% e em 16 (80%) indivíduos a lesão foi de 2º grau. A área do corpo mais atingida foi o tronco, totalizando 18 casos (90%). A maior parte dos indivíduos não tinham conhecimento do perigo do acidente 14 (70%). CONCLUSÃO: Produtos inflamáveis foram os principais agentes causadores de acidentes, no domicílio, atingindo principalmente as mulheres, 7 (35%), e o choque elétrico no ambiente de trabalho, com maior prevalência dos indivíduos do gênero masculino. Os participantes possuem baixo nível socioeconômico e de escolaridade e foram classificados como médio e grande queimado, sendo o tronco a região corporal mais afetada.
OBJECTIVE: To describe the epidemiological profile of adults admitted to a reference treatment center in burns. METHOD: Descriptive, cross-sectional study with quantitative approach. It was held in March 2016, at the Burning Treatment Center of Dr. José Frota Hospital, Fortaleza-CE. RESULTS: Twenty male adults (55%), with a minimum wage income, and a low level of schooling, from the interior of the State 14 (70%) prevailed. Electrical shock was present in six (30%) accidents, which occurred in the work environment. The majority of the participants, 11 (55%), had burned body surface grater than 20% and in 16 (80%) individuals the lesion was of the second degree. The most affected area of body the was the trunk, totaling 18 (90%). Most of the individuals were unaware of the danger of the accident 14 (70%). CONCLUSION: Flammable products were the main cause of accidents at home, affecting mainly women - 7 (35%) - and electric shock in the workplace, with a higher prevalence of males. The participants had low socioeconomic and schooling levels and were classified as medium and large burned, with the trunk being the most affected body region.
