RESUMO
This report describes an innovative interprofessional education collaborative practice (IPCP) experience for rehabilitation professions students using a unique on-campus camp model through a community-academic partnership. Throughout the three-day camp, known as the Bright Ideas TBI Camp, interprofessional student groups deliver tailored health and wellness services to individuals with disabilities due to traumatic brain injury and their caregivers. Initial program evaluation suggests that this camp model offers an effective IPCP experience for students while addressing community health needs. Further outcome evaluation is needed to determine the impact of the camp on students' development of IPCP competencies and health outcomes of clients and caregivers.

This study focuses on the spatial and spectral beam characteristics in a terahertz (THz) broadband sub-wavelength imaging system using a solid immersion lens (SIL). Previously, we demonstrated a broadband sub-wavelength THz imaging system by integrating a SIL with a THz time-domain spectrometer (TDS). Key parameters that influence beam characteristics and, consequently, imaging performance, such as SIL misalignment tolerances and beam propagation from the SIL, constitute the primary focus of this investigation. Numerical simulations demonstrate that the system can tolerate millimeter-level transverse and longitudinal SIL position displacements, underscoring its robustness for sub-wavelength imaging in a wide frequency range. Additionally, numerical simulations of beam propagation characteristics reveal that the system achieves sub-wavelength imaging resolution up to 1 mm from the SIL at 0.5 THz, highlighting its potential for non-destructive testing of subsurface structures. These findings gain experimental validation through imaging stacked utility knife blades with sub-wavelength structures ranging from 0.2 to 2 THz.

Juglans mandshurica Maxim. walnut (JMW) is well-known for the treatment of dermatosis, cancer, gastritis, diarrhea, and leukorrhea in Korea. However, the molecular mechanism underlying its anti-obesity activity remains unknown. In the current study, we aimed to determine whether JMW can influence adipogenesis in 3T3-L1 preadipocytes and high-fat diet rats and determine the antioxidant activity. The 20% ethanol extract of JMW (JMWE) had a total polyphenol content of 133.33 ± 2.60 mg GAE/g. Considering the antioxidant capacity, the ABTS and DPPH values of 200 µg/ml of JMWE were 95.69 ± 0.94 and 79.38 ± 1.55%, respectively. To assess the anti-obesity activity of JMWE, we analyzed the cell viability, fat accumulation, and adipogenesis-related factors, including CCAAT-enhancer-binding protein alpha (C/EBPα), sterol regulatory element-binding protein-1c (SREBP1c), peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor-gamma (PPARγ), fatty acid synthase (FAS), and acetyl-CoA carboxylase (ACC). We found that total lipid accumulation and triglyceride levels were reduced, and the fat accumulation rate decreased in a dose-dependent manner. Furthermore, JMWE suppressed adipogenesis-related factors C/EBPα, PPARγ, and SREBP1c, as well as FAS and ACC, both related to lipogenesis. Moreover, animal experiments revealed that JMWE could be employed to prevent and treat obesity-related diseases. Hence, JMWE could be developed as a healthy functional food and further explored as an anti-obesity drug.

PURPOSE: Our study aims were (a) to examine laryngeal vestibular closure (LVC) temporal measures in healthy adults across tasks used in the Modified Barium Swallow Impairment Profile (MBSImP) protocol to establish normative reference values and (b) to examine influences of age, gender, and swallow task on LVC temporal measures. METHOD: A retrospective analysis of 195 healthy adults (85 men, 110 women; age range: 21-89 years) who participated in a videofluoroscopic swallowing study was completed. Seven swallow tasks of standardized viscosities and volumes, as per the MBSImP protocol, were analyzed to measure time-to-LVC and LVC duration (LVCd). Descriptive statistics were employed for all measures of interest. Regression modeling was used to explore relationships between LVC temporal measures (time-to-LVC, LVCd) with age, gender, and swallow task. The relationship between time-to-LVC and LVCd was also explored. RESULTS: Significant findings included an increasing trend in LVCd across age (older individuals had a longer LVCd), with women demonstrating a greater increase. Related to viscosity, LVCd was significantly shorter for pudding compared to thin liquid. Furthermore, when compared to 5-ml tasks, LVCd was significantly longer in cup tasks, while time-to-LVC was significantly shorter. An association was also observed between time-to-LVC and LVCd: As time-to-LVC decreased, LVCd increased. CONCLUSIONS: LVCd was influenced by age, gender, and swallow task. Longer time-to-LVC was observed in older individuals, particularly older women, and with thin liquids. Study findings contribute to adult normative reference values for LVC temporal measures (time-to-LVC and LVCd) across MBSImP swallowing tasks. PURPOSE: The purpose of this study was to investigate whether 3- to-6-year-old children who stutter and exhibit a higher degree of behavioral inhibition (BI), a correlate of shyness, stutter more frequently and experience greater negative consequences of stuttering (per parent-report) than their peers who stutter but have lower BI. METHOD: Forty-six children who stutter (CWS; 35 boys & 11 girls; mean age 4 years, 2 months) participated. Their degree of BI was assessed by measuring the latency to their 6th spontaneous comment during a conversation with an unfamiliar examiner (following Kagan, Reznick, & Gibbons's (1989) methodology). The frequency of stuttering and the negative impact of stuttering that CWS may have experienced was assessed using parent reports (i.e., Test of Childhood Stuttering (TOCS) Observational Rating Scale; Gillam, Logan, & Pearson, 2009). RESULTS: We found that children's degree of BI was not associated with their speech fluency per parent report. However, children's degree of BI was significantly associated with greater negative consequences of stuttering. Specifically, among the four categories of TOCS Disfluency-Related Consequences, children's BI significantly predicted the occurrence of physical behaviors that accompany moments of stuttering (such as increased tension or excessive eye blinks). Other Disfluency-Related Consequences, such as avoidance behaviors, negative feelings, and negative social consequences, were not associated with children's behavioral inhibition tendencies. Additionally, children's stuttering severity (per the Stuttering Severity Instrument-4 scores) was significantly associated with increased physical behaviors that accompany moments of stuttering and greater negative social consequences of stuttering. CONCLUSIONS: This study provides empirical evidence that behavioral inhibition to the unfamiliar may have salience for childhood stuttering as it predicted the development of physical behaviors associated with stuttering (e.g., tension or struggle) in 3- to 6-year-old CWS. Clinical implications of high BI for the assessment and treatment of childhood stuttering are discussed.

Little is known about the physiology of a common fluid ingestion pattern-sequential swallowing. This study investigated sequential swallowing biomechanics in healthy adults. Archival normative videofluoroscopic swallow studies were analyzed for hyolaryngeal complex (HLC) patterning and biomechanical measures from the first 2 swallows of a 90-mL thin liquid sequential swallow task. The effects of age, sex, HLC type, and swallow order were explored. Eighty-eight participants were included in the primary analyses as they performed sequential swallows. HLC Type I (airway opens, epiglottis approaches baseline) and Type II (airway remains closed, epiglottis remains inverted) most commonly occurred (47% each), followed by Type III (mixed, 6%). Age was significantly associated with Type II and longer hypopharyngeal transit, total pharyngeal transit (TPT), swallow reaction time (SRT), and duration to maximum hyoid elevation. Males demonstrated significantly greater maximum hyoid displacement (Hmax) and longer duration of maximum hyoid displacement. Significantly larger maximum hyoid-to-larynx approximation was linked to the first swallow, while the subsequent swallow had significantly longer oropharyngeal transit, TPT, and SRT. Secondary analyses included an additional 91 participants who performed a series of discrete swallows for the same swallow task. Type II had significantly greater Hmax than Type I and series of discrete swallows. Sequential swallowing biomechanics differ from discrete swallows, and normal variance exists among healthy adults. In vulnerable populations, sequential swallowing may challenge swallow coordination and airway protection. Normative data allow comparison to dysphagic populations. Systematic efforts are needed to further standardize a definition for sequential swallowing.

PURPOSE: We quantified pharyngeal residue using pixel-based methods in a normative data set, while examining influences of age, gender, and swallow task. METHOD: One hundred ninety-five healthy participants underwent a videofluoroscopic swallow study following the Modified Barium Swallow Impairment Profile (MBSImP) protocol. ImageJ was used to compute Normalized Residue Ratio Scale and the Analysis of Swallowing Physiology: Events, Kinematics and Timing (ASPEKT) pharyngeal residue measures. Reliability was established. Descriptive statistics were performed for all residue measures. Inferential statistics were performed using ASPEKT total scores (i.e., %C2-42). Logistic regression models explored predictors of residue versus no residue. Generalized linear mixed models explored predictors of nonzero residue. Spearman rho explored relationships between ASPEKT total residue scores and MBSImP Component 16 (Pharyngeal Residue) scores. RESULTS: Majority of swallows (1,165/1,528; 76.2%) had residue scores of zero. Residue presence (%C2-42 > 0) was influenced by age (more in older [F = 9.908, p = .002]), gender (more in males [F = 18.70, p < .001]), viscosity (more in pudding, nectar, and honey [F = 25.30, p < .001]), and volume (more for cup sip [F = 37.430, p < .001]). When residue was present (363/1,528 = 23.8%), amounts were low (M = 1% of C2-42, SD = 2.4), and only increasing age was associated with increased residue (F = 9.008, p = .007) when controlling for gender and swallow task. Increasing residue was incremental (0.01% of C2-42 per year). As ASPEKT total residue values increased, MBSImP Component 16 scores also increased. CONCLUSIONS: Pharyngeal residue amounts were very low in healthy adults. Residue presence can be influenced by age, gender, and swallow task. Rosa rugosa root is traditionally known to be effective in the treatment of diabetes in Korea. R. rugosa root-specific compounds also show antioxidant effects, and could reduce lipid and fat accumulation, however, the underlying mechanism has not been clarified. In present study, the antioxidant and lipid-reducing effects of a 50% ethanol extract of R. rugosa (REE) were investigated differentiated mouse preadipocytes (3T3-L1 cells). REE showed strong radical scavenging activities and inhibitory effect of total lipid accumulation and triglyceride levels in differentiated 3T3-L1 cells. In addition, REE treatment reduced the mRNA and protein levels of adipogenesis and lipogenesis markers. This REE-promoted lipid reduction was caused by downregulation of peroxisome proliferator activated receptor gamma (PPARγ), CCAAT/enhancer binding protein alpha (C/EBPα), and sterol regulatory element binding protein1 (SREBP1c) and down regulation of ERK expression. Overall, these results demonstrate the potential of REE for development of a drug in the medical treatment of lipid-associated disorders.

Terahertz (THz) imaging techniques are attractive for a wide range of applications, such as non-destructive testing, biological sensing, and security imaging. We investigate practical issues in THz imaging systems based on a solid immersion lens (SIL). The system stability in terms of longitudinal misalignment of the SIL is experimentally verified by showing that the diffraction-limited sub-wavelength beam size (0.7 λ) is maintained as long as the SIL is axially located within the depth-of-focus (~13 λ) of the objective lens. The origin of the fringe patterns, which are undesirable but inevitable in THz imaging systems that use continuous waves, is analytically studied, and a method for minimizing the interference patterns is proposed. By combining two THz images obtained at different axial positions of the object and separated by λ/4, the interference patterns are significantly reduced, and the information hidden under the interference patterns is unveiled. The broad applicability of the proposed method is demonstrated by imaging objects with different surface profiles. Our work proves that the resolution of conventional THz imaging systems can easily be enhanced by simply inserting a SIL in front of the object with high tolerance in the longitudinal misalignment and provides a method enabling THz imaging for objects with different surface profiles.

PURPOSE: This study investigated interprofessional practice (IPP) trends and attitudes between speech-language pathologists (SLP) and audiologists (AUD). METHODS: Clinical SLPs and AUDs completed an online survey, consisting of demographics, caseload trends, collaborative practice trends, and barriers to collaborative practice. RESULTS: A total of 237 participants (131 SLPs, 106 AUDs) completed an online survey. Survey results indicated that IPP is important or very important to both professions. A smaller proportion of SLPs reported collaborating with AUDs than AUDs reported collaborating with SLPs. The most frequently identified barrier to collaboration experienced by the two professions was "access." Based on their beliefs, however, the top barriers differed between the professions. Specifically, SLPs believed that "access" was the top barrier to collaboration with AUDs whereas AUDs believed that "attitudes and perceptions" was the top barrier to collaboration with SLPs. Findings from the revised Attitudes Towards Health Care Teams Scale indicated that SLPs had a significantly more positive attitude toward IPP than AUDs. CONCLUSIONS: This study indicated that although IPP is valued by SLPs and AUDs, barriers continue to limit the percentage of practitioners engaging in IPP. Although both professions experienced common barriers, their beliefs about barriers to collaboration differed.

Purpose: This retrospective study investigated the impact of age, sex, and swallow task on bolus hold location during cued liquid swallows in healthy, community-dwelling adults. Furthermore, we investigated the association between bolus hold location and Modified Barium Swallow Impairment Profile (MBSImP) Components 2 (bolus hold) and 4 (lingual transport) scores. Method: Cued swallows of standardized barium liquids (thin, nectar-thickened, honey-thickened) observed during videofluoroscopy in 195 participants were judged as either tipper or dipper bolus hold type. Logistic regression was used to determine relationships between bolus hold location and age, sex, and swallow task. Fisher's exact test was used to determine associations between MBSImP scores and bolus hold type. Results: The majority of swallow tasks (95%) were of tipper bolus hold type. A significant relationship was observed between age and bolus hold type for swallows of 5-ml thin liquid and 5-ml honey-thickened liquid, with older individuals more likely to demonstrate a tipper bolus hold type. Sex was observed to be a significant factor for two swallow tasks (cup sip of thin liquid and 5 ml of nectar-thickened liquid), with males being more likely to be dippers. No significant relationships were observed between bolus hold type and MBSImP Component 2 or 4 scores. Conclusions: A tipper bolus hold type was the most common type observed in healthy adults, although the dipper bolus hold type was also observed (albeit at a lower frequency). These study findings further contribute to defining typical swallowing behaviors.

PURPOSE: The purpose of the study was to determine whether differences exist between young English- and Korean-speaking children who stutter (CWS) in the loci of stuttering. METHOD: Participants were 10 Korean-speaking and 11 English-speaking CWS between the ages of 3 and 7 years. Participants produced narratives while viewing various picture scenes and a wordless picture book. RESULTS: Findings indicated that Korean-speaking CWS stuttered more on content than function words whereas English-speaking CWS stuttered more on function than content words. Furthermore, both Korean- and English-speaking CWS tended to stutter more on utterance-initial words. These findings appear to be related to the differences in linguistic/syntactic structures between Korean and English. Specifically, in the Korean-speaking CWS's narratives, most utterance-initial words (73.60 %) were content words whereas in the English-speaking CWS's narratives, most utterance-initial words (83.57 %) were function words. CONCLUSION: These preliminary findings, although in need of replication with a larger sample size, seem to suggest that the word class (i.e., content/function words) contributions to stuttering loci are more language-specific whereas the word position (i.e., utterance-initial position) contributions to stuttering loci are more language-nonspecific. Given that the true characteristics of stuttering may be rather language-nonspecific than language-specific, further research may need to focus more on stuttering loci related to word position than word class.

Purpose This study investigated the impact of age and sex on mastication performance in healthy, nondysphagic, community-dwelling adults as observed during videofluoroscopy. Method Videofluoroscopic swallowing study imaging and mastication performance metrics (cycles, duration) were used to evaluate 185 healthy individuals (102 women, 83 men) aged 21-89 years. Results A significant effect of age on mastication cycles was not observed; however, a significant but weak effect of age on mastication duration was found. Female participants were observed to have significantly more mastication cycles and longer mastication durations compared to male participants. Three behavioral patterns of mastication performance emerged. Conclusions The results of this study contribute to normative data of mastication performance. An individual's sex was found to have a significant effect on mastication performance, although, in contrast to previous studies, age was not observed to significantly alter mastication performance. Differences in study methodologies likely explain the latter finding.

A terahertz continuous wave system is demonstrated for thickness measurement using Gouy phase shift interferometry without frequency sweep. One arm of the interferometer utilizes a collimated wave as a reference, and the other arm applies a focused beam for sample investigation. When the optical path difference (OPD) of the arms is zero, a destructive interference pattern is produced. Interference signal intensity changes induced by the OPD changes can be easily predicted by calculations. By minimizing the difference between the measured and the calculated signal against the OPD, the thicknesses of sub-100-µm-thick samples are determined at 625 GHz.

BACKGROUND: The aim of this study was to analyze the correlation between the dental plaque indices measured using quantitative light-induced fluorescence-digital (QLF-D) and conventional clinical indices that assess gingival status. METHODS: From among the patients who visited Ewha Womans University Mokdong Hospital, 33 adults in their 20s who had relatively even teeth were selected for full-mouth QLF-D imaging. The images were used to analyze the QLF-D score and the QLF-D ΔR score. As clinical indices, the gingival index (GI), bleeding on probing (BOP), probing pocket depth (PPD), and patient hygiene performance (PHP) index were measured. The correlations between the QLF-D score and QLF-D ΔR score and each clinical index were analyzed. Analyses were performed comparing the indices of maxillary and mandibular teeth, the teeth on right and left sides of the mouth, anterior and posterior teeth, and buccal and lingual surfaces of each tooth. Pearson's correlation analysis was conducted (p < 0.05). RESULTS: The mean full-mouth QLF-D score was highly correlated with the GI, BOP, PPD, PHP index (p < 0.01). The mean full-mouth QLF-D score showed the highest correlation with GI (r = 0.749) and the lowest correlation with PPD (r = 0.683). The correlations between the QLF-D score were higher in the mandible than in the maxilla and in the anterior teeth than in the posterior teeth, while no significant differences were seen between the buccal and lingual surfaces of tooth. CONCLUSIONS: This study concluded that the correlations between the plaque indices measured for each tooth surface area using QLF-D and the clinical indices assessed were significantly high, and it allowed objective determination of the gingival status. Therefore, the plaque index measured using QLF-D may be used as an alternative to supplement the shortcomings of conventional clinical indices for educating patients about plaque control and continued patient oral care.

PURPOSE: This study investigated the possible association of emotional processes and articulation rate in pre-school age children who stutter and persist (persisting), children who stutter and recover (recovered) and children who do not stutter (nonstuttering). METHODS: The participants were ten persisting, ten recovered, and ten nonstuttering children between the ages of 3-5 years; who were classified as persisting, recovered, or nonstuttering approximately 2-2.5 years after the experimental testing took place. The children were exposed to three emotionally-arousing video clips (baseline, positive and negative) and produced a narrative based on a text-free storybook following each video clip. From the audio-recordings of these narratives, individual utterances were transcribed and articulation rates were calculated. RESULTS: Results indicated that persisting children exhibited significantly slower articulation rates following the negative emotion condition, unlike recovered and nonstuttering children whose articulation rates were not affected by either of the two emotion-inducing conditions. Moreover, all stuttering children displayed faster rates during fluent compared to stuttered speech; however, the recovered children were significantly faster than the persisting children during fluent speech. CONCLUSION: Negative emotion plays a detrimental role on the speech-motor control processes of children who persist, whereas children who eventually recover seem to exhibit a relatively more stable and mature speech-motor system. This suggests that complex interactions between speech-motor and emotional processes are at play in stuttering recovery and persistency; and articulation rates following negative emotion or during stuttered versus fluent speech might be considered as potential factors to prospectively predict persistence and recovery from stuttering.

PURPOSE: The purpose of the present study was to determine whether the Test of Childhood Stuttering observational rating scales (TOCS; Gillam et al., 2009) (1) differed between parents who did versus did not express concern (independent from the TOCS) about their child's speech fluency; (2) correlated with children's frequency of stuttering measured during a child-examiner conversation; and (3) correlated with the length and complexity of children's utterances, as indexed by mean length of utterance (MLU). METHOD: Participants were 183 young children ages 3:0-5:11. Ninety-one had parents who reported concern about their child's stuttering (65 boys, 26 girls) and 92 had parents who reported no such concern (50 boys, 42 girls). Participants' conversational speech during a child-examiner conversation was analyzed for (a) frequency of occurrence of stuttered and non-stuttered disfluencies, and (b) MLU. Besides expressing concern or lack thereof about their child's speech fluency, parents completed the TOCS observational rating scales documenting how often they observe different disfluency types in speech of their children, as well as disfluency-related consequences. RESULTS: There were three main findings. First, parents who expressed concern (independently from the TOCS) about their child's stuttering reported significantly higher scores on the TOCS Speech Fluency and Disfluency-Related Consequences rating scales. Second, children whose parents rated them higher on the TOCS Speech Fluency rating scale produced more stuttered disfluencies during a child-examiner conversation. Third, children with higher scores on the TOCS Disfluency-Related Consequences rating scale had shorter MLU during child-examiner conversation, across age and level of language ability. CONCLUSIONS: Findings support the use of the TOCS observational rating scales as one documentable, objective means to determine parental perception of and concern about their child's stuttering. Findings also support the notion that parents are reasonably accurate, if not reliable, judges of the quantity and quality (i.e., stuttered vs. non-stuttered) of their child's speech disfluencies. Lastly, findings that some children may decrease their verbal output in attempts to minimize instances of stuttering - as indexed by relatively low MLU and a high TOCS Disfluency-Related Consequences scores - provides strong support for sampling young children's speech and language across various situations to obtain the most representative index possible of the child's MLU and associated instances of stuttering.

An electromagnon in the magnetoelectric (ME) hexaferrite Ba_{0.5}Sr_{2.5}Co_{2}Fe_{24}O_{41} (Co_{2}Z-type) single crystal is identified by time-domain terahertz (THz) spectroscopy. The associated THz resonance is active on the electric field (E^{ω}) of the THz light parallel to the c axis (⥠[001]), whose spectral weight develops at a markedly high temperature, coinciding with a transverse conical magnetic order below 410 K. The resonance frequency of 1.03 THz at 20 K changes -8.7% and +5.8% under external magnetic field (H) of 2 kOe along [001] and [120], respectively. A model Hamiltonian describing the conical magnetic order elucidates that the dynamical ME effect arises from antiphase motion of spins which are coupled with modulating electric dipoles through the exchange striction mechanism. Moreover, the calculated frequency shift points to the key role of the Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya interaction that is altered by static electric polarization change under different H.

To develop a convenient promoter analysis system for fungi, a null-pigment mutant (NPG) of Aspergillus nidulans was used with the 4'-phosphopantetheinyl transferase (PPTase) gene, npgA, which restores the normal pigmentation in A. nidulans, as a new reporter gene. The functional organization of serially deleted promoter regions of the A. nidulans trpC gene and the Cryphonectria parasitica crp gene in filamentous fungi was representatively investigated to establish a novel fungal promoter assay system that depends on color complementation of the NPG mutant with the PPTase npgA gene. Several promoter regions of the trpC and crp genes were fused to the npgA gene containing the 1,034-bp open reading frame and the 966-bp 3' downstream region from the TAA, and the constructed fusions were introduced into the NPG mutant in A. nidulans to evaluate color recovery due to the transcriptional activity of the sequence elements. Serial deletion of the trpC and crp promoter regions in this PPTase reporter assay system reaffirmed results in previous reports by using the fungal transformation step without a laborious verification process. This approach suggests a more rapid and convenient system than conventional analyses for fungal gene expression studies.

PURPOSE: The purpose of this study was to determine whether young children who do (CWS) and do not stutter (CWNS) with a positive versus negative family history of stuttering differ in articulation, language and attentional abilities and family histories of articulation, language and attention related disorders. METHOD: Participants were 25 young CWS and 50 young CWNS. All 75 participants' caregivers consistently reported a positive or negative family history of stuttering across three consecutive time points that were about 8 months apart for a total of approximately 16 months. Each participant's family history focused on the same, relatively limited number of generations (i.e., participants' parents & siblings). Children's family history of stuttering as well as articulation, language, and attention related disorders was obtained from one or two caregivers during an extensive interview. Children's speech and language abilities were measured using four standardized articulation and language tests and their attentional abilities were measured using caregiver reports of temperament. RESULTS: Findings indicated that (1) most caregivers (81.5% or 75 out 92) were consistent in their reporting of positive or negative history of stuttering; (2) CWNS with a positive family history of stuttering, compared to those with a negative family history of stuttering, were more likely to have reported a positive family history of attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), and (3) CWNS with a positive family history of stuttering had lower language scores than those with a negative family history of stuttering. However, there were no such significant differences in family histories of ADHD and language scores for CWS with a positive versus negative family history of stuttering. In addition, although 24% of CWS versus 12% of CWNS's caregivers reported a positive family history of stuttering, inferential analyses indicated no significant differences between CWS and CWNS in relative proportions of family histories of stuttering. CONCLUSION: Finding that a relatively high proportion (i.e., 81.5%) of caregivers consistently reported a positive or negative family history of stuttering across three consecutive time points should provide some degree of assurance to those who collect such caregiver reports. Based on such consistent caregiver reports, linguistic as well as attentional vulnerabilities appear associated with a positive family history of stuttering, a finding that must await further empirical study for confirmation or refutation.
