RESUMO

This research investigates the effects of the adversity quotient introduced by Paul G. Stoltz on students achievement motivation, student learning autonomy and student performance. The study was conducted through an online survey with 218 participants from selected students of two Islamic senior high school in Indonesia. Data and information gathering from respondent analyzed by partial least square structural modelling using SmartPLS. This research revealed that adversity quotient were significant constructs affected on students achievement, students learning autonomy and student performance. This research opens a new paradigm for studying the adversity quotient and its implication for other educational aspects.

RESUMO

Objective: The biggest problems of oral and dental health in Indonesia are the ignorance on the dental and oral hygiene leading to tooth loss, so can highly affect the nutritional status and dietary intake. To discover the relationship between the tooth loss and the hypertension case at Padongko health center of Barru regency. Methods: The research is analytic observation using cross-sectional method. The population of the research is the respondents suffering from the hypertension and tooth loss to determine their nutritional status and dietary intake. The population was the patients with primary hypertension, a purposive sampling technique was applied through path analysis test. Results: Based on the path analysis results, the relationship between nutritional status and hypertension revealed p value=0,562>α=0,05; dietary intake and hypertension showed p value=0,377>α=0,05; therefore, the Ha obtained indicated the existing relationship but not significant. The relationship between nutritional status and tooth loss obtained p value=0,065>α=0,05; dietary intake and tooth loss obtained p value=0,499, in which the Ha obtained had a relationship but not significant. Meanwhile, the relationship between hypertension and tooth loss was indicated by p value=0,001<α=0,05 showing a significant relationship. Conclusion: There is a relationship between nutritional status and dietary intake with tooth loss on hypertension patients, but insignificantly shown

RESUMO

PURPOSE: Analysis of drugs in multicomponent system officially is carried out using chromatographic technique, however, this technique is too laborious and involving sophisticated instrument. Therefore, UV-VIS spectrophotometry coupled with multivariate calibration of partial least square (PLS) for quantitative analysis of metamizole, thiamin and pyridoxin is developed in the presence of cyanocobalamine without any separation step. METHODS: The calibration and validation samples are prepared. The calibration model is prepared by developing a series of sample mixture consisting these drugs in certain proportion. Cross validation of calibration sample using leave one out technique is used to identify the smaller set of components that provide the greatest predictive ability. The evaluation of calibration model was based on the coefficient of determination (R(2)) and root mean square error of calibration (RMSEC). RESULTS: The results showed that the coefficient of determination (R(2)) for the relationship between actual values and predicted values for all studied drugs was higher than 0.99 indicating good accuracy. The RMSEC values obtained were relatively low, indicating good precision. The accuracy and presision results of developed method showed no significant difference compared to those obtained by official method of HPLC. CONCLUSION: The developed method (UV-VIS spectrophotometry in combination with PLS) was succesfully used for analysis of metamizole, thiamin and pyridoxin in tablet dosage form.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Ameloblastoma is a common benign odontogenic tumor of the jaw with a local invasive and highly destructive behavior and can develop in any age, with peak prevalence in 3rd-4th decade. Ameloblastoma can be divided into six histological types: follicular, plexiform, acanthomatous, desmoplastic, granular, and basal cell. Matrix metalloproteinase-9 (MMP-9) (92-kD gelatinase/type IV collagenases = gelatinase B) is involved in bone resorption by degradation of extracellular matrix and osteoclasts recruitment. Recent studies have found that MMP-9 is expressed by ameloblastoma and has a role in ameloblastoma local invasiveness. OBJECTIVE: To analyze MMP-9 expression between different histological types of ameloblastoma. MATERIAL AND METHOD: Forty samples of ameloblastoma were collected through consecutive sampling and the MMP-9 expression was detected using immunohistochemistry. RESULT: All samples showed positive MMP-9 expression with moderate to strong intensity. 82.4 % plexiform type and 83.3 % mixed type have strong immunoexpression, significantly different with follicular type with only 36.4 % (P < 0.05). CONCLUSION: Ameloblastoma plexiform and mixed type have higher MMP-9 expression than ameloblastoma follicular type. Different MMP-9 expression may contribute in different ameloblastoma biological behavior.
