RESUMO

In Germany neurotuberculosis is quite rare. Familiarity with the disease is nonetheless important because of many differential diagnoses and therapeutic implications. The diagnosis of neurotuberculosis is made by considering of clinical presentation, CSF, and cerebral imaging. Early diagnosis, prompt initiation of effective antitubercular therapy, and clinical staging are necessary for establishing a long-term treatment prognosis. The results of neurotuberculosis therapy are often unsatisfactory despite the availability of effective drugs. Lasting damage or death can be averted in fewer than half of the patients. Studies now confirm that early adjuvant corticoid therapy reduces lethality and morbidity. Resistant new strains of the pathogen, Mycobacterium tuberculosis, complicate therapy. Recent discoveries especially in diagnosis and therapy are explained using case evidence.

RESUMO

49 of 102 sheep of one production herd, which had returned to oestrus once or twice within the 1985 breeding season, were treated twice in a nine-day interval with the PGF2 alpha analogue Cloprostenol "Jenapharm". 53 animals received an additional dose of 10 micrograms of Gonavet "Berlin-Chemie". A lambing rate of merely 15% was achieved by subsequent term-oriented artificial insemination. 31 sheep still in oestrus one day after term-oriented artificial insemination were served, bringing the lambing rate from synchronisation of oestrus and ovulation to 26% and the lambing result to 154%. Serving of the remaining sheep in 2 subsequent oestric cycles, on balance, yielded lambing rates and results of the remaining sheep in 2 subsequent oestric cycles, on balance, yielded lambing rates and results which were higher with significance than those recorded from untreated sheep in the same herd.

RESUMO

Planar passivated germanium photodiodes have been developed whose useful response at 22 degrees C extends from 0.6 microm to 1.85 microm at a nominal operating voltage of 20 V. Typical characteristics at 22 degrees C are diode capacitance, 100 pF/cm(2); rise and fall times, 10 nsec; leakage current, 2.5 mA/cm(2) ; D*(1.54 microm) approximately 2.5 x 10(10) cm/W/ radicalHz with a 3-dB frequency of ~45 MHz. Single and multiple element detectors ranging in size from 2 x 0.25-mm(2) elements with 50-microm spacing between elements to 3-cm(2) quadrant detectors have been made successfully for operation at temperatures from 77 K to room temperature.
