RESUMO

We studied the nature of the action of course treatment with argon and helium (1 min, 3 procedures) on the oxidative metabolism in rat blood plasma. The study was performed on 30 Wistar rats divided into 3 groups (n=10 in each group): intact and 2 experimental (treatment of the skin of the back with a stream of argon and helium, respectively). After completion of the treatment course, the intensity of free radical processes, the total antioxidant activity, and malondialdehyde concentration were evaluated in the blood plasma. It was found that argon and helium gas flows provide stimulation of antioxidant systems, but the mechanisms of their effect were different. Treatment with helium did not affect the intensity of free radical processes, but significantly increased the overall antioxidant activity of blood plasma and reduced malondialdehyde concentration in comparison with the effect of argon flow.

RESUMO

We studied the effect of course exposure to argon cold plasma (ten 1- and 2-min procedures) on some parameters of the oxidative metabolism of rat blood plasma. The intensity of free radical processes, the total antioxidant activity, and malondialdehyde concentration in rat plasma were evaluated. It was found that 2-min exposure to argon cold plasma and nonionized argon stream produce a prooxidant effect, while 1-min exposure argon plasma led to stimulation of the antioxidant reserves of the blood.

RESUMO

AIM: To make multiparametric analysis of blood metabolic profile in early period of burn disease. MATERIALS AND METHODS: We tested blood samples of 15 healthy adults (control group) and 60 patients with thermal trauma (main group--II-4IIIA, B degree of burn, more then 15 bsp). Parameters of lipid metabolism, level of glucose, lactate, malonic dialdehyde and some enzymes in blood plasma and erythrocytes were estimated. RESULTS: In early period of burn disease we fixed the clear metabolic disorders, including tissues hypoxia, activation of plasma transaminases and oxidoreductases, inhibition of detoxication system, induction of oxidative stress. Connection of metabolic changes, associated with burn disease, was registered. It supported by numerous correlations between studied parameters, formed from first day after trauma. CONCLUSIONS: Our data expand the knowledge about mating metabolic changes of catalytic activity of blood enzymes, forming in early period of burn disease (system metabolic disadaptation), and diagnostic value of some blood biochemical parameters in estimation of burned patient metabolism.

RESUMO

Experiment and modeling show that the refractive index nonlinearity can significantly degrade the contrast of a chirped-pulse amplifier seeded with a pulse and a single postpulse. Multiple powerful non-equidistant pre- and postpulses are generated. For a Gaussian pulse and a hat-top beam, an incident postpulse of energy W results in a prepulse of energy 0.58B(2)W, where B is the nonlinear phase (B-integral) of the main pulse. Calculations show that level of satellites due to gain saturation is negligibly small. Experimental results for Ti:Sapphire regenerative and multipass amplifiers and prepulse generation in fused silica agree well with the theory.

RESUMO

The biochemical organism state markers were studied in the rat serum and brain cortex at short-term (28 days) and long-term (16 month) chronic ethanol consumption (15%, v/v). In the first case the increase of alanine aminotransferase activity in the serum and hypertriglyceridemia have been revealed on the background of the stable main biochemical characteristics. The statistically significant decrease of cholinesterase activity and increase of alkaline phosphatase, aminotransferases, lactate dehydrogenase and alpha-amylase activities in the serum, the reduction of the serum triglycerides, total and lipoprotein cholesterol, increased atherogenic index and serum urea concentration were revealed at long-term alcoholization. Total sulphydryl groups/protein level ratio decreased in the brain cortex. It is concluded, that ethanol-induced long-term metabolic stress is accompanied by certain organism state impairment at rat aging, determined by interdependence of pathological and adaptive processes.

RESUMO

The use of specific symmetry properties of optical second-harmonic generation (the s, s-exclusion rule) has allowed us to observe high-contrast hyper-Rayleigh interference patterns in completely diffuse light, an effect that has no analog in the case of linear (Rayleigh) scattering.
