Background: Dystonia is a kind of movement disorder but its pathophysiological mechanisms are still largely unknown. Recent evidence reveals that genetical defects may play important roles in the pathogenesis of dystonia. Objectives and Methods: -To explore possible causative genes in Chinese dystonia patients, DNA samples from 42 sporadic patients with isolated cervical dystonia were subjected to whole-exome sequencing. Rare deleterious variants associated with dystonia phenotype were screened out and then classified according to the American College of Medical Genetics and Genomics (ACMG) criteria. Phenolyzer was used for analyzing the most probable candidates correlated with dystonia phenotype, and SWISS-MODEL server was for predicting the 3D structures of variant proteins. Results: Among 42 patients (17 male and 25 female) recruited, a total of 36 potentially deleterious variants of dystonia-associated genes were found in 30 patients (30/42, 71.4 %). Four disease-causing variants including a pathogenic variant in PLA2G6 (c.797G > C) and three likely pathogenic variants in DCTN1 (c.73C > T), SPR (c.1A > C) and TH (c.56C > G) were found in four patients separately. Other 32 variants were classified as uncertain significance in 26 patients. Phenolyzer prioritized genes TH, PLA2G6 and DCTN1 as the most probable candidates correlated with dystonia phenotype. Although 3D prediction of DCTN1 and PLA2G6 variant proteins detected no obvious structural alterations, the mutation in DCTN1 (c.73C > T:p.Arg25Trp) was closely adjacent to its key functional domain. Conclusion: Our whole-exome sequencing results identified a novel variant in DCTN1 in sporadic Chinese patients with isolated cervical dystonia, which however, needs our further study on its exact role in dystonia pathogenesis.

BACKGROUND: The citrus red mite, Panonychus citri is a serious pest of the citrus industry and has developed resistance to many acaricides. Broflanilide is a novel meta-diamide insecticide that binds to a new site on the γ -aminobutyric acid receptor with high potency against pests. However, little information has been reported about its effect on the citrus red mite. RESULTS: Broflanilide exhibited higher toxicity to female adults and eggs of a laboratory strain of P. citri The median lethal concentration (LC50), 9.769 mg/L and 4.576 mg/L, respectively) than other commonly used acaricides and was also toxic to two P. citri field strains. Broflanilide treatment with LC10, LC20, and LC30 significantly decreased the fecundity and longevity of female adults of F0 P. citri compared with the control. The duration of larva, protonymph, deutonymph and adult, and total life span in the F1 generation were significantly reduced after treatment of F0 with broflanilide. Population parameters, including the intrinsic rate of increase (r) and finite rate of increase (λ), were significantly increased, and the mean generation time (T) of F1 progeny was significantly reduced in the LC20 treatment. The predicted population size of F1 increased when parental female adults were treated with sublethal concentrations. CONCLUSION: Broflanilide had high acaricidal activity toward P. citri, and exposure to a sublethal concentration significantly inhibited the population growth of F0. The transgenerational hormesis effect is likely to cause population expansion of F1. More attention should be paid when broflanilide is applied to control P. citri in citrus orchards. © 2024 Society of Chemical Industry.

Aphidius gifuensis is the dominant parasitic natural enemy of aphids. Elucidating the molecular mechanism of host recognition of A. gifuensis would improve its biological control effect. Chemosensory proteins (CSPs) play a crucial role in insect olfactory systems and are mainly involved in host localization. In this study, a total of nine CSPs of A. gifuensis with complete open reading frames were identified based on antennal transcriptome data. Phylogenetic analysis revealed that AgifCSPs were mainly clustered into three subgroups (AgifCSP1/2/7/8, AgifCSP3/9, and AgifCSP4/5/6). AgifCSP2/5 showed high expression in the antennae of both sexes. Moreover, AgifCSP5 was found to be specifically expressed in the antennae. In addition, fluorescent binding assays revealed that AifCSP5 had greater affinities for 7 of 32 volatile odor molecules from various sources. Molecular docking and site-directed mutagenesis results revealed that the residue at which AgifCSP5 binds to these seven plant volatiles is Tyr75. Behavior tests further confirmed that trans-2-nonenal, one of the seven active volatiles in the ligand binding test, significantly attracted female adults at a relatively low concentration of 10 mg/mL. In conclusion, AgifCSP5 may be involved in locating aphid-infested crops from long distances by detecting and binding trans-2-nonenal. These findings provide a theoretical foundation for further understanding the olfactory recognition mechanisms and indirect aphid localization behavior of A. gifuensis from long distances by first identifying the host plant of aphids.

This study explores the comprehensive effects of green finance (GF) on the low-carbon transition of the energy system (LTES) by analyzing panel data from 281 cities in China from 2006 to 2021. It is found that GF significantly reduces overall energy consumption and exhibits a U-shaped association with energy efficiency, while its relationship with the energy consumption structure is inverted U-shaped. After accounting for endogeneity in the robustness tests, these findings remain consistent and are therefore deemed reliable. A mechanistic analysis reveals that GF promotes industrial upgrading, technological progress, and economic agglomeration, collectively facilitating the LTES. The impact of GF on LTES shows considerable variation among regions, influenced by their levels of economic growth, extents of marketization, and governmental environmental preferences. Our findings provide new evidence for the relationship between GF and LTES, offering a scientific basis for formulating GF policies to accelerate this transformation.

The Asian citrus psyllid, Diaphorina citri, is the primary vector of the HLB pathogen, Candidatus Liberibacter asiaticus (CLas). The acquisition of CLas shortens the developmental period of nymphs, accelerating the emergence into adulthood and thereby facilitating the spread of CLas. Cuticular proteins (CPs) are involved in insect emergence. In this study, we investigated the molecular mechanisms underlying CLas-promoted emergence in D. citri via CP mediation. Here, a total of 159 CP genes were first identified in the D. citri genome. Chromosomal location analysis revealed an uneven distribution of these CP genes across the 13 D. citri chromosomes. Proteomic analysis identified 54 differentially expressed CPs during D. citri emergence, with 14 CPs exhibiting significant differential expression after CLas acquisition. Five key genes, Dc18aa-1, Dc18aa-2, DcCPR-24, DcCPR-38 and DcCPR-58, were screened from the proteome and CLas acquisition. The silencing of these 5 genes through a modified feeding method significantly reduced the emergence rate and caused various abnormal phenotypes, indicating the crucial role that these genes play in D. citri emergence. This study provides a comprehensive overview of the role of CPs in D. citri and reveals that CLas can influence the emergence process of D. citri by regulating the expression of CPs. These key CPs may serve as potential targets for future research on controlling huanglongbing (HLB) transmission.

OBJECTIVES: Detection of early neoplastic lesions is crucial for improving the survival rates of patients with gastric cancer. Optical enhancement mode 2 is a new image-enhanced endoscopic technique that offers bright images and can improve the visibility of neoplastic lesions. This study aimed to compare the detection of neoplastic lesions with optical enhancement mode 2 and white-light imaging (WLI) in a high-risk population. METHODS: In this prospective multicenter randomized controlled trial, patients were randomly assigned to optical enhancement mode 2 or WLI groups. Detection of suspicious neoplastic lesions during the examinations was recorded, and pathological diagnoses served as the gold standard. RESULTS: A total of 1211 and 1219 individuals were included in the optical enhancement mode 2 and WLI groups, respectively. The detection rate of neoplastic lesions was significantly higher in the optical enhancement mode 2 group (5.1% vs. 1.9%; risk ratio, 2.656 [95% confidence interval, 1.630-4.330]; p < 0.001). The detection rate of neoplastic lesions with an atrophic gastritis background was significantly higher in the optical enhancement mode 2 group (8.6% vs. 2.6%, p < 0.001). The optical enhancement mode 2 group also had a higher detection rate among endoscopists with different experiences. CONCLUSIONS: Optical enhancement mode 2 was more effective than WLI for detecting neoplastic lesions in the stomach, and can serve as a new method for screening early gastric cancer in clinical practice. BACKGROUND: The study aims to obtain the real-world safety profile of tetracyclines in children younger than 8 years old and provide reference for clinical drug applications. RESEARCH DESIGN AND METHODS: We made a disproportionality analysis of the FDA Adverse Event Reporting System (FAERS) database through OpenVigil 2 and conducted a review of case reports regarding adverse drug reactions (ADRs) of tetracyclines in children younger than 8-year-old. RESULTS: FAERS analysis identified 32 ADRs of tetracyclines in children younger than 8-year-old. Respiratory, thoracic, and mediastinal disorders contained the most frequent ADRs among all system organ classes (SOCs). The top three positive signals with the highest proportional reporting ratio (PRR) were laryngeal injury, Horner's syndrome and methaemoglobinaemia. Sixteen published tetracyclines-associated cases in children younger than 8-year-old were identified in the literature, concentrating in three SOCs. Gastrointestinal disorders were the most commonly reported cases (n = 12). CONCLUSIONS: Several ADRs were newly reported only in children younger than 8-year-old in our research, including Horner's syndrome and methemoglobinemia. We recommended that the clinical practitioners should pay attention to the ADRs both in instruction and beyond the label. Take close care of children and timely intervene when the treatment is inevitable.

A steady stream of material transport based on carriers and channels in living systems plays an extremely important role in normal life activities. Inspired by nature, researchers have extensively applied supramolecular cages in cargo transport because of their unique three-dimensional structures and excellent physicochemical properties. In this review, we will focus on the development of supramolecular cages as carriers and channels for cargo transport in abiotic and biological systems over the past fifteen years. In addition, we will discuss future challenges and potential applications of supramolecular cages in substance transport.

Confidence is an adaptive computation when environmental feedback is absent, yet there is little consensus regarding how perceptual confidence is computed in the brain. Difficulty arises because confidence correlates with other factors, such as accuracy, response time (RT), or evidence quality. We investigated whether neural signatures of evidence accumulation during a perceptual choice predict subjective confidence independently of these factors. Using motion stimuli, a central-parietal positive-going electroencephalogram component (CPP) behaves as an accumulating decision variable that predicts evidence quality, RT, accuracy, and confidence (Experiment 1, N = 25 adults). When we psychophysically varied confidence while holding accuracy constant (Experiment 2, N = 25 adults), the CPP still predicted confidence. Statistically controlling for RT, accuracy, and evidence quality (Experiment 3, N = 24 adults), the CPP still explained unique variance in confidence. The results indicate that a predecision neural signature of evidence accumulation, the CPP, encodes subjective perceptual confidence in decision-making independent of task performance.

Nickel oxide (NiOx) is a promising hole transport layer (HTL) to fabricate efficient and large-scale inverted perovskite solar cells (PSCs) due to its low cost and superior chemical stability. However, inverted PSCs based on NiOx are still lagging behind that of other HTL because of the poor quality of buried interface contact. Herein, a bidentate ligand, 4,6-bis (diphenylphosphino) phenoxazine (2DPP), is used to regulate the NiOx surface and perovskite buried interface. The diphosphine Lewis base in the 2DPP molecule can coordinate both with NiOx and lead ions at NiOx/perovskite interface, leading to high-quality perovskite films with minimized defects. It is found that the inverted PSCs with 2DPP-modified buried interface exhibit double advantages of being both fast charge extraction and reduced nonradiative recombination, which is a combination of multiple factors including favorable energetic alignment, improved interface contact and strong binding between NiOx/2DPP and perovskite. The optimal PSC based on 2DPP modification yields a champion power conversion efficiency (PCE) of 21.9%. The unencapsulated PSC maintains above 75% of its initial PCE in the air with a relative humidity (RH) of 30-40% for 1000 h.

N-type polycrystalline SnSe is considered as a highly promising candidates for thermoelectric applications due to facile processing, machinability, and scalability. However, existing efforts do not enable a peak ZT value exceeding 2.0 in n-type polycrystalline SnSe. Here, we realized a significant ZT enhancement by leveraging the synergistic effects of divacancy defect and introducing resonance level into the conduction band. The resonance level and increased density of states resulting from tungsten boost the Seebeck coefficient. The combination of the enhanced electrical conductivity (achieved by increasing carrier concentration through WCl6 doping and Se vacancies) and large Seebeck coefficient lead to a high power factor. Microstructural analyses reveal that the co-existence of divacancy defects (Se vacancies and Sn vacancies) and endotaxial W- and Cl-rich nanoprecipitates scatter phonons effectively, resulting in ultralow lattice conductivity. Ultimately, a record-high peak ZT of 2.2 at 773 K is achieved in n-type SnSe0.92 + 0.03WCl6.

INTRODUCTION: Chronic inflammation is one of the causative factors for tumorigenesis. Gastrodin is a main active ingredient isolated from Gastrodia elata Blume, a famous medicinal herb with a long edible history. AIM: This study aimed to explore the effects of gastrodin on colitis-associated carcinogenesis (CRC) in mice and to elucidate its potential molecular mechanisms. METHODS: Balb/c mice were induced with azoxymethane (AOM) and dextran sulfate sodium (DSS) for 12 weeks. Gastrodin (50 mg/kg) was administered via oral gavage three times per week until the end of the experiment. Disease indexes, including body weight, bloody diarrhea, colon length, histopathological score, and tumor size, were measured. Tumor cell proliferation was evaluated by BrdU incorporation assay and tumor cell cytotoxicity was assessed by cell counting kit (CCK-8). The expression levels of toll-like receptor 4 (TLR4)/nuclear factor kappa-B (NF-κB) signaling molecules, NF-κB luciferase, and pro-inflammatory cytokines were determined by real-time fluorescence quantitative polymerase chain reaction (RT-qPCR), immunoblotting, immunohistochemistry (IHC), enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA), or reporter gene assays. The binding affinity between gastrodin and myeloid differentiation protein-2 (MD2) was analyzed by molecular docking and cellular thermal shift assay (CETSA). RESULTS: Gastrodin administration was demonstrated to mitigate various CRC-related symptoms in mice, including weight loss, diarrhea, and tissue abnormalities. Notably, gastrodin suppressed tumor cell growth during colitis- associated tumorigenesis, resulting in fewer and smaller adenomas in the colon. Unlike irinotecan, a broadspectrum antitumor drug, gastrodin did not exhibit apparent cytotoxicity in various colorectal adenocarcinoma cell lines. Additionally, gastrodin downregulated TLR4/NF-κB signaling molecules and pro-inflammatory mediators in mice and macrophages. Molecular docking and CETSA experiments suggested that gastrodin binds to the MD2 protein, potentially interfering with the recognition of lipopolysaccharide (LPS) by TLR4, leading to NF-κB pathway inhibition. CONCLUSION: This study provides evidence for the first time that gastrodin attenuated colitis and prevented colitisrelated carcinogenesis in mice, at least partially, by diminishing tumor-promoting cytokines through the interruption of TLR4/MD2/NF-κB signaling transduction.

Here, we combined Cd and In codoping with a simple hydrothermal synthesis method to prepare SnSe powders composed of nanorod-like flowers. After spark plasma sintering, its internal grains inherited well the morphological features of the precursor, and the multiscale microstructure included nanorod-shaped grains, high-density dislocations, and stacking faults, as well as abundant nanoprecipitates, resulting in an ultralow thermal conductivity of 0.15 W m-1 K-1 for the synthesized material. At the same time, Cd and In synergistically regulated the electrical conductivity and Seebeck coefficient of SnSe, leading to an enhanced power factor. Among them, Sn0.94Cd0.03In0.03Se achieved a peak ZT of 1.50 parallel to the pressing direction, representing an 87.5% improvement compared with pure SnSe. Notably, the material possesses isotropic ZT values parallel and perpendicular to the pressing direction, overcoming the characteristic anisotropy in thermal performance observed in previous polycrystalline SnSe-based materials. Our results provide a new strategy for optimizing the performance of thermoelectric materials through structural engineering.

Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a chronic autoimmune disorder marked by persistent synovial inflammation and joint degradation, posing challenges in the development of effective treatments. Nuciferine, an alkaloid found in lotus leaf, has shown promising anti-inflammatory and anti-tumor effects, yet its efficacy in RA treatment remains unexplored. This study investigated the antiproliferative effects of nuciferine on the MH7A cell line, a human RA-derived fibroblast-like synoviocyte, revealing its ability to inhibit cell proliferation, promote apoptosis, induce apoptosis, and cause G1/S phase arrest. Additionally, nuciferine significantly reduced the migration and invasion capabilities of MH7A cells. The therapeutic potential of nuciferine was further evaluated in a collagen-induced arthritis (CIA) rat model, where it markedly alleviated joint swelling, synovial hyperplasia, cartilage injury, and inflammatory infiltration. Nuciferine also improved collagen-induced bone erosion, decreased pro-inflammatory cytokines and serum immunoglobulins (IgG, IgG1, IgG2a), and restored the balance between T helper (Th) 17 and regulatory T cells in the spleen of CIA rats. These results indicate that nuciferine may offer therapeutic advantages for RA by decreasing the proliferation and invasiveness of FLS cells and correcting the Th17/Treg cell imbalance in CIA rats.

Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) is characterized by persistent damage to the intestinal barrier and excessive inflammation, leading to increased intestinal permeability. Current treatments of IBD primarily address inflammation, neglecting epithelial repair. Our previous study has reported the therapeutic potential of notoginsenoside R1 (NGR1), a characteristic saponin from the root of Panax notoginseng, in alleviating acute colitis by reducing mucosal inflammation. In this study we investigated the reparative effects of NGR1 on mucosal barrier damage after the acute injury stage of DSS exposure. DSS-induced colitis mice were orally treated with NGR1 (25, 50, 125 mg·kg-1·d-1) for 10 days. Body weight and rectal bleeding were daily monitored throughout the experiment, then mice were euthanized, and the colon was collected for analysis. We showed that NGR1 administration dose-dependently ameliorated mucosal inflammation and enhanced epithelial repair evidenced by increased tight junction proteins, mucus production and reduced permeability in colitis mice. We then performed transcriptomic analysis on rectal tissue using RNA-sequencing, and found NGR1 administration stimulated the proliferation of intestinal crypt cells and facilitated the repair of epithelial injury; NGR1 upregulated ISC marker Lgr5, the genes for differentiation of intestinal stem cells (ISCs), as well as BrdU incorporation in crypts of colitis mice. In NCM460 human intestinal epithelial cells in vitro, treatment with NGR1 (100 µM) promoted wound healing and reduced cell apoptosis. NGR1 (100 µM) also increased Lgr5+ cells and budding rates in a 3D intestinal organoid model. We demonstrated that NGR1 promoted ISC proliferation and differentiation through activation of the Wnt signaling pathway. Co-treatment with Wnt inhibitor ICG-001 partially counteracted the effects of NGR1 on crypt Lgr5+ ISCs, organoid budding rates, and overall mice colitis improvement. These results suggest that NGR1 alleviates DSS-induced colitis in mice by promoting the regeneration of Lgr5+ stem cells and intestinal reconstruction, at least partially via activation of the Wnt/ß-Catenin signaling pathway. This was manifested by the decreased expression of tight junction proteins, reduced mucus production in goblet cells, and increased intestinal permeability in colitis mice. Additionally, Lgr5+ ISCs were in obviously deficiency in colitis mice, with aberrant down-regulation of the Wnt/ß-Catenin signaling. However, NGR1 amplified the expression of the ISC marker Lgr5, elevated the expression of genes associated with ISC differentiation, enhanced the incorporation of BrdU in the crypt and promoted epithelial restoration to alleviate DSS-induced colitis in mice, at least partially, by activating the Wnt/ß-Catenin signaling pathway.

RESUMO

The unique high surface area and tunable cavity size endow metal-organic cages (MOCs) with superior performance and broad application in gas adsorption and separation. Over the past three decades, for instance, numerous MOCs have been widely explored in adsorbing diverse types of gas including energy gases, greenhouse gases, toxic gases, noble gases, etc. To gain a better understanding of the structure-performance relationships, great endeavors have been devoted to ligand design, metal node regulation, active metal site construction, cavity size adjustment, and function-oriented ligand modification, thus opening up routes toward rationally designed MOCs with enhanced capabilities. Focusing on the unveiled structure-performance relationships of MOCs towards target gas molecules, this review consists of two parts, gas adsorption and gas separation, which are discussed separately. Each part discusses the cage assembly process, gas adsorption strategies, host-guest chemistry, and adsorption properties. Finally, we briefly overviewed the challenges and future directions in the rational development of MOC-based sorbents for application in challenging gas adsorption and separation, including the development of high adsorption capacity MOCs oriented by adsorbability and the development of highly selective adsorption MOCs oriented by separation performance.

BACKGROUND: The citrus red mite, Panonychus citri (McGregor) is a globally distributed agricultural pest. Of late, resistance to common acaricides has raised concerns that chemical control of P. citri is an inefficient means of control. Fluralaner, a highly toxic isoxazoline insecticide used to treat various ectoparasites, presents one potential alternative. However, little information has been reported about the effect of fluralaner on the citrus red mite. This study aims to evaluate the toxicity, sublethal and transgenerational effects of fluralaner on P. citri. RESULTS: In both laboratory and field populations of P. citri, we found fluralaner to be more toxic than conventional alternatives, including fenpropathrin, bifenazate, azocyclotin and chlorpyrifos. Interestingly, fluralaner proved more toxic to female adults than to the eggs of P. citri, with median lethal concentrations (LC50) of 2.446 and 122.7 mg L-1, respectively. Exposure to sublethal concentrations of fluralaner (LC10, LC20 and LC30) significantly reduced the fecundity and longevity of female adults P. citri individuals. Although concentrations of fluralaner applied to the parental female adults (F0) led to some changes in the developmental parameters, there were no significant changes in most of the life table parameters or population growth of the F1 generation. CONCLUSION: Our results indicate that fluralaner is highly toxic to P. citri, and a significant sublethal effect on F0 could suppress the population growth of P. citri, but not for F1. Fluralaner may be considered as a pesticide for the future management of the citrus red mite. © 2024 Society of Chemical Industry.

Here, a high peak ZT of ≈2.0 is reported in solution-processed polycrystalline Ge and Cd codoped SnSe. Microstructural characterization reveals that CdSe quantum dots are successfully introduced by solution process method. Ultraviolet photoelectron spectroscopy evinces that CdSe quantum dots enhance the density of states in the electronic structure of SnSe, which leads to a large Seebeck coefficient. It is found that Ge and Cd codoping simultaneously optimizes carrier concentration and improves electrical conductivity. The enhanced Seebeck coefficient and optimization of carrier concentration lead to marked increase in power factor. CdSe quantum dots combined with strong lattice strain give rise to strong phonon scattering, leading to an ultralow lattice thermal conductivity. Consequently, high thermoelectric performance is realized in solution-processed polycrystalline SnSe by designing quantum dot structures and introducing lattice strain. This work provides a new route for designing prospective thermoelectric materials by microstructural manipulation in solution chemistry.

The tanning hormone, Bursicon, is a neuropeptide secreted by the insect nervous system that functions as a heterodimer composed of Burs-α and Burs-ß subunits. It plays a critical role in the processes of cuticle tanning and wing expansion in insects. In this study, we successfully identified the AcBurs-α and AcBurs-ß genes in Aphis citricidus. The open reading frames of AcBurs-α and AcBurs-ß were 480 and 417 bp in length, respectively. Both AcBurs-α and AcBurs-ß exhibited 11 conserved cysteine residues. AcBurs-α and AcBurs-ß were expressed during all developmental stages of A. citricidus and showed high expression levels in the winged aphids. To investigate the potential role of AcBurs-α and AcBurs-ß in wing development, we employed RNA interference (RNAi) techniques. With the efficient silencing of AcBurs-α (44.90%) and AcBurs-ß (52.31%), malformed wings were induced in aphids. The proportions of malformed wings were 22.50%, 25.84%, and 38.34% in dsAcBurs-α-, dsAcBur-ß-, and dsAcBurs-α + dsAcBur-ß-treated groups, respectively. Moreover, feeding protein kinase A inhibitors (H-89) also increased the proportion of malformed wings to 30.00%. Feeding both double-stranded RNA and inhibitors (H-89) significantly downregulated the wing development-related genes nubbin, vestigial, notch and spalt major. Silence of vestigial through RNAi also led to malformed wings. Meanwhile, the exogenous application of 3 hormones that influence wing development did not affect the expression level of AcBursicon genes. These findings indicate that AcBursicon genes plays a crucial role in wing development in A. citricidus; therefore, it represents a potential molecular target for the control of this pest through RNAi-based approaches.

The citrus red mite, Panonychus citri (McGregor), is a globally important pest that has developed severe resistance to various pesticides. Lufenuron has been widely used in the control of the related pests in citrus orchard ecosystem. In this study, the susceptibilities of egg, larva, deutonymph and female adult of P. citri to lufenuron was determined, and the LC50 values were 161.354 mg/L, 49.595 mg/L, 81.580 mg/L, and 147.006 mg/L, respectively. Life-table analysis indicated that the fecundities were significantly increased by 11.86% and 26.84% after the mites were treated with LC20 concentrations of lufenuron at the egg or deutonymph stages, respectively. After eggs were treated with lufenuron, the immature stage and longevity were also affected, and resulted in a significant increase in r, R0 and λ. After exposure of female adults to LC20 of lufenuron, the fecundity and longevity of F0 generation significantly decreased by 31.99% and 10.94%, respectively. Furthermore, the expression level of EcR and Vg was significantly inhibited upon mites was treated with lufenuron. However, lufenuron exposure has a positive effect on fecundity and R0 in F1 generation, the expression of all reproduction-related genes was significantly up-regulated. In conclusion, there was a stimulating effect on the offspring population. Our results will contribute to the assessment of the resurgence of P. citri in the field after the application of lufenuron and the development of integrated pest control strategies in citrus orchards.
