RESUMO

This study addresses the pressing need for cost-effective emission reduction strategies that maximize co-benefits in terms of air pollution and carbon emissions. Our research contributes to the literature by accurately measuring these co-benefits, thereby facilitating their prompt realization in different regions. We employ an input-output framework that integrates carbon emissions and air pollution, allowing us to calculate marginal abatement costs using the shadow price of undesired output. Through this approach, we quantify the co-benefits and analyze the factors influencing them at both spatiotemporal and factor levels using spatial kernel density and geographical detectors. Our findings reveal several key insights: (1) under joint emission reduction efforts, we observe average annual reduction rates of 6.46% for marginal pollution and 6.10% for carbon reduction costs. Importantly, we document an increase in co-benefits from 0.50 to 0.86, characterized by an initial fluctuation followed by a linear increase. (2) the marginal cost difference for carbon emission and pollution reduction in western China was 179.45 and 155.08 respectively, compared to 321.51 and 124.70 in the Northeast, highlighting the crucial role of regional differences in shaping co-benefit outcomes. (3) we identify a negative spatial spillover effect between provinces, which diminishes over time, leading to heterogeneous effects when local provincial co-benefits exceed a threshold of 0.9. (4) during the adjustment period, we find that the industrial structure exerts significant single and interactive effects on co-benefits. Additionally, we highlight the critical role of environmental governance investment and government intervention as drivers of co-benefits in the current era. By offering the quantification of co-benefits under the marginal abatement costs, our study provides valuable scientific insights for planning and implementing effective synergy strategies.

Spatial misallocation of resource elements impedes the coordination in regional co-benefit in carbon emission and pollution reduction. Guided by scope economy principles, this study aims to quantifies co-benefits and explores spatial variation patterns to facilitate mutual synergy. The findings offer valuable insights for identifying optimal focus points and shaping targeted collaborative policies. Based on the multi-source provincial panel data spanning 2000 to 2021, this paper quantitatively assesses the co-benefit through the lens of marginal abatement cost. Then, the Dagum Gini coefficient was employed to investigate the disparities at the spatial level. Additionally, geographical detector is introduced to analyze the source of disparities at the factor level. Results indicate: (1) Under joint reduction, the marginal abatement cost reduces by 57.86% and 79.97% respectively, with an overall 68.77% increase in co-benefit fluctuation. (2) Provinces with low co-benefit significantly decreased after 2007, while provinces with high co-benefit concentrated in the northwest, southwest, and east. (3) Overall disparities decreased, east-central regions hold the lowest spatial disparities in co-benefit and east-west hold the most; intragroup differences and supervariable density primarily contributes to the disparity. (4) FDI significantly influence the co-benefit over the past two decades, with spatial disparities influenced by both endogenous and exogenous factors across development stages.

Economic efficiency gains in tourism are considered a crucial approach to reducing carbon emissions in the tourism sector, especially in tourism transport. However, as a significant source of carbon emissions from tourism activities, the total carbon emissions from tourism transport have not decreased proportionally to the reduction in the intensity, despite China's overall improvement in the tourism economic efficiency. This phenomenon is commonly known as the "rebound effect", which means that although technological progress can achieve emission reductions by efficiency improvement, but it can also indirectly stimulate socio-economic growth and creates new energy demands, results in expected emission reductions being offset by the additional economic growth effect. Based on the multi-source data structure, this paper takes Yangtze-river delta urban agglomeration as an example, quantitatively evaluated the carbon rebound effect of tourism transport through the rebound effect measurement model; simulated the spatiotemporal dynamics evolution pattern of the carbon rebound effect in tourism transport through the spatial kernel density; extracted and identified the dominant factors of carbon rebound effect in tourism transport by the geographic detector. The conclusions summarized as follow: (1) The overall carbon emissions from tourism transport in the agglomeration primarily exhibit a weak rebound effect. (2) The carbon rebound effect is significantly influenced by spatiotemporal factors, which impact its development trend and interaction relations. (3) The level of tourism consumption exerts the greatest influence on the carbon rebound effect of tourism transport, while environmental regulation intensity is commonly employed as a measure to address the rebound effect. This paper aims to enhance the diversity of research on carbon emissions in tourism transport while addressing the existing limitations in spatial-temporal extension. The objective is to restrain the spread of the carbon rebound effect at the regional level, thereby providing a novel decision-making reference for the sustainable development of regional tourism.

Objective: This study evaluated the reno-protective effects of quercetin in animal models of acute kidney injury (AKI). Methods: We conducted a systematic search of literature published before April 2023 in PubMed, Web of Science, and EMBASE databases. Methodological quality was assessed by SYRCLE's RoB tool. Funnel plot, Egger's test, and Begg's test were used to determine publication bias. Results: A total of 19 studies with 288 animals were included in this meta-analysis. The methodology quality scores of the included studies ranged from 4 to 7. The results indicated that quercetin reduced blood urea nitrogen (SMD = -4.78; 95% CI: 6.45, -3.12; p < 0.01; I2 = 84%) and serum creatinine (SMD: 2.73, 95% CI: 3.66, -1.80; p < 0.01; I2 = 80%) in AKI models. The result of sensitivity analysis was stable, while the results of funnel plot indicated asymmetric. In addition, we further analyzed inflammatory cytokines, oxidative stress levels, and kidney injury scores, and found that quercetin treatment had antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects and improved kidney injury scores in animal models of AKI. Conclusion: Quercetin exhibited a promising reno-protective effect in AKI animal models. Systematic Review Registration: PROSPERO (CRD42023433333).

Cholestasis is a common, chronic liver disease that may cause fibrosis and cirrhosis. Tripterygium wilfordii Hook.f (TWHF) is a species in the Euonymus family that is commonly used as a source of medicine and food in Eastern and Southern China. Triptolide (TP) is an epoxy diterpene lactone of TWHF, as well as the main active ingredient in TWHF. Here, we used a mouse model of common bile duct ligation (BDL) cholestasis, along with cultured human intrahepatic biliary epithelial cells, to explore whether TP can relieve cholestasis. Compared with the control treatment, TP at a dose of 70 or 140 µg/kg reduced the serum levels of the liver enzymes alanine transaminase, aspartate aminotransferase, and alkaline phosphatase in mice; hematoxylin and eosin staining also showed that TP reduced necrosis in tissues. Both in vitro and in vivo analyses revealed that TP inhibited cholangiocyte proliferation by reducing the expression of RelB. Immunohistochemical staining of CK19 and Ki67, as well as measurement of Ck19 mRNA levels in hepatic tissue, revealed that TP inhibited the BDL-induced ductular reaction. Masson 3 and Sirius Red staining for hepatic hydroxyproline showed that TP alleviated BDL-induced hepatic fibrosis. Additionally, TP substantially inhibited BDL-induced hepatic inflammation. In summary, TP inhibited the BDL-induced ductular reaction by reducing the expression of RelB in cholangiocytes, thereby alleviating liver injury, fibrosis, and inflammation.

Bile acids (BAs) were selected as biomarkers for the diagnosis and prevention of multiple liver diseases, and they were also considered as an important signal transductor via "liver-gut" axis. As important factors for maintaining the normal function and tissue morphology, BA homeostasis throughout the enterohepatic circulation system was guaranteed by BA synthases and transporters, nuclear receptors (NRs) and gut microbiota, all of which presented significant species differences. Thus, we simultaneously quantify BA profiles in the enterohepatic circulation of SD rats and C57BL/6 mice to reveal the species differences of BA homeostasis between these two main rodents of preclinical studies. Our results showed that BA profiles of mice plasma, bile and liver were most dissimilar from these of rats. Meanwhile, BAs profiles also presented obvious species differences in the intestine of mice and rats, especially small intestine. Unlike rats, taurine-conjugated bile acids (T-BAs) were predominant in mice small intestine content and tissue, in which taurocholic acid (TCA) was the most prominent BAs. BAs dynamic analysis showed that compared with rats, mice showed stranger taurine and glycine de-conjugations in lager intestine. However, both the ratios of unconjugated bile acids (Un-BAs) to conjugated BAs, and secondary BAs to primary BAs in mice small content and tissue were all much lower than these in rats. Furthermore, ileum BAs profiles also showed significantly separation trend between rats and mice, whether content or tissue. Our data revealed that the patterns of BAs homeostasis in mice enterohepatic circulation system were significantly different from these in rats (especially in intestine), suggesting that more cautious should be paid to the selection of BAs as biomarkers for disease diagnosis or/and drug induced toxicity, and the certain role and mechanism of individual BA in the pathological process of BA-related diseases via "liver-gut" axis should be verified by using of multiple species.

In road traffic accidents, the analysis of a vehicle's collision angle plays a key role in identifying a traffic accident's form and cause. However, because accurate estimation of vehicle collision angle involves many factors, it is difficult to accurately determine it in cases in which less physical evidence is available and there is a lack of monitoring. This paper establishes the mathematical relation model between collision angle, deformation, and normal vector in the collision region according to the equations of particle deformation and force in Hooke's law of classical mechanics. At the same time, the surface reconstruction method suitable for a normal vector solution is studied. Finally, the estimation model of vehicle collision angle is presented. In order to verify the correctness of the model, verification of multi-angle collision experiments and sensitivity analysis of laser scanning precision for the angle have been carried out using three-dimensional (3D) data obtained by a 3D laser scanner in the collision deformation zone. Under the conditions with which the model has been defined, validation results show that the collision angle is a result of the weighted synthesis of the normal vector of the collision point and the weight value is the deformation of the collision point corresponding to normal vectors. These conclusions prove the applicability of the model. The collision angle model proposed in this paper can be used as the theoretical basis for traffic accident identification and cause analysis. It can also be used as a theoretical reference for the study of the impact deformation of elastic materials.

OBJECTIVE: To observe the difference between the combination therapy of alpha-interferon (IFN-alpha) therapy Yixuesheng Capsule and the monotherapy of IFN-alpha in treatment of chronic hepatitis B. METHOD: A total of 288 patients with HBeAg-positive chronic hepatitis B proven by liver biopsy were included in this study. During the individualized therapy, they received hypodermic injection of IFN-alpha 1b, with 5 MU x time(-1) and three times x w(-1). Of them, 125 patients received combination therapy with Yixuesheng Capsule for three months, with 1.0 g/time and three times/d; and 163 patients received only IFN-alpha 1b (the IFN-alpha monotherapy group). After the course of therapy, all patients were followed up for at least 24 months. The intention-to-treat analysis was adopted for statistic analysis. RESULT: The two groups showed no statistical significance by gender, age, liver necroinflammation grading, liver fibrosis staging, serum ALT levels, serum HBV DNA levels and IFN-alpha therapy course. The whole course and the 24-month follow-up visit cover all of 112 patients in the combination treatment group and 141 cases in the IFN-alpha monotherapy group. The response rates of the combination treatment group and the IFN-alpha monotherapy group were 48.0% (60/125) and 35.0% (57/163) (x = 4.980, P = 0.026) at the end of treatment, respectively, 45.6% (57/125) and 33.1% (54/163) (x2 = 4.645, P =0.031) at the end of 12-month-follow-up period, respectively, and 38.4% (48/125) and 32.5% (53/163) (x2 = 1.076, P = 0.300) at the end of 24-month follow-up period, respectively. CONCLUSION: The combination treatment with IFN-alpha and Yixuesheng Capsule shows a slightly better sustained efficacy on HBeAg-positive chronic hepatitis B patients compared with IFN-alpha monotherapy.
