AIM: To compare how parents' attitudes, knowledge, and sociodemographic characteristics influence untreated early childhood caries in infants and preschoolers in Brazil and Colombia. BACKGROUND: Dental caries is a prevalent chronic disease affecting children worldwide. However, little research has explored the connection between parents' knowledge, attitudes, and beliefs about oral health and the occurrence of dental caries in their children's primary teeth. MATERIALS: Oral health information was evaluated in children aged 3 to 5 years with a questionnaire covering sociodemographic and socioeconomic variables, family information and questions about health knowledge and child's and parents' oral health. In addition, oral examinations have been carried out to determine the prevalence of untreated dental caries. A p-value of 0.05 and 95% reliability level were considered statistically significant. CONCLUSION: Untreated caries in infants and preschoolers are influenced by socioeconomic status, maternal education, sugar consumption, oral hygiene, and parents' beliefs about primary dentition.

During 25 surveys of global Phytophthora diversity, conducted between 1998 and 2020, 43 new species were detected in natural ecosystems and, occasionally, in nurseries and outplantings in Europe, Southeast and East Asia and the Americas. Based on a multigene phylogeny of nine nuclear and four mitochondrial gene regions they were assigned to five of the six known subclades, 2a-c, e and f, of Phytophthora major Clade 2 and the new subclade 2g. The evolutionary history of the Clade appears to have involved the pre-Gondwanan divergence of three extant subclades, 2c, 2e and 2f, all having disjunct natural distributions on separate continents and comprising species with a soilborne and aquatic lifestyle and, in addition, a few partially aerial species in Clade 2c; and the post-Gondwanan evolution of subclades 2a and 2g in Southeast/East Asia and 2b in South America, respectively, from their common ancestor. Species in Clade 2g are soilborne whereas Clade 2b comprises both soil-inhabiting and aerial species. Clade 2a has evolved further towards an aerial lifestyle comprising only species which are predominantly or partially airborne. Based on high nuclear heterozygosity levels ca. 38 % of the taxa in Clades 2a and 2b could be some form of hybrid, and the hybridity may be favoured by an A1/A2 breeding system and an aerial life style. Circumstantial evidence suggests the now 93 described species and informally designated taxa in Clade 2 result from both allopatric non-adaptive and sympatric adaptive radiations. They represent most morphological and physiological characters, breeding systems, lifestyles and forms of host specialism found across the Phytophthora clades as a whole, demonstrating the strong biological cohesiveness of the genus. The finding of 43 previously unknown species from a single Phytophthora clade highlight a critical lack of information on the scale of the unknown pathogen threats to forests and natural ecosystems, underlining the risk of basing plant biosecurity protocols mainly on lists of named organisms. More surveys in natural ecosystems of yet unsurveyed regions in Africa, Asia, Central and South America are needed to unveil the full diversity of the clade and the factors driving diversity, speciation and adaptation in Phytophthora. This experiment was conducted to determine the effect of an adsorbent material based on powdered alfalfa leaves added in the aflatoxin B1 (AFB1)-contaminated diet of turkey poults on production parameters, blood cell count, serum biochemistry, liver enzymes, and liver histology. For this purpose, three hundred and fifty female Nicholas-700 poults were randomly assigned into five treatments: (1) Control, AFB1-free diet; (2) AF, diet contaminated with 250 ng AFB1/g; (3) Alfalfa, AFB1-free diet + 0.5% (w/w) adsorbent; (4) AF+alfalfa, diet contaminated with 250 ng AFB1/g + 0.5% (w/w) adsorbent, and (5) AF+ yeast cell wall (YCW), diet contaminated with 250 ng AFB1/g + 0.5% (w/w) of yeast cell wall (a commercial mycotoxin binder used as reference material). The in vivo efficacy of powdered alfalfa leaves was assessed during a 28-day period. In general, the addition of powdered alfalfa leaves in the AFB1-free diet gave the best performance results (body weight, body weight gain, and feed intake) and improved the values of total protein, glucose, calcium, creatinine, and blood urea nitrogen. Moreover, the addition of powdered alfalfa leaves in the AFB1-contaminated diet enhanced body weight and body weight gain and significantly reduced the feed intake, compared to the AF and AF+YCW groups. Additionally, significant alterations in serum parameters were observed in poults intoxicated with the AFB1, compared to the Control group. Furthermore, typical histopathological lesions were observed in the liver of the AF group, which were significantly ameliorated with the addition of powdered alfalfa leaves. Conclusively, these results pointed out that low inclusion of powdered alfalfa leaves in the contaminated feed counteracted the adverse effects of AFB1 in turkey poults.

The genus Elsinoe includes many aggressive plant pathogens that infect various economically important agricultural, horticultural and forestry plants. Significant diseases include citrus scab caused by E. fawcettii and E. australis, grapevine spot anthracnose by E. ampelina, and the emerging Eucalyptus scab and shoot malformation disease caused by the recently described E. necatrix. Despite their importance as plant pathogens, little is known regarding the biology of many Elsinoe spp. To gain insights into the reproductive biology of these fungi, we characterized the mating-type loci of seven species using whole genome sequence data. Results showed that the MAT1 locus organization and its flanking genes is relatively conserved in most cases. All seven species manifested a typical heterothallic mating system characterized by having either the MAT1-1 or MAT1-2 idiomorph present in an isolate. These idiomorphs were defined by the MAT1-1-1 or the MAT1-2-1 gene, respectively. A unique MAT1-1 idiomorph containing a truncated MAT1-2-1 gene, and a MAT1-1-1 gene, was identified in E. necatrix and E. fawcettii genomes. Additionally, two idiomorph-specific proteins were found in the MAT1-1 and MAT1-2 idiomorphs of E. australis. Universal mating-type markers confirmed heterothallism across 21 Elsinoe spp., are poised to advance future studies regarding the biology of these fungi.

OBJECTIVE: Recent research has suggested that fungemia may demonstrate an epidemiologic shift in etiologic agents. This study focuses on the agents causing fungemia and antifungal resistance in a tertiary hospital. PATIENTS AND METHODS: We evaluated all-age fungemia cases admitted to Balikesir Ataturk City Hospital in 2017-2021. Blood cultures (BC) were studied using BacT/Alert® 3D (bioMérieux, Marcyl'Etoile, France) and Render BC128 System (Render Biotech Co. Ltd., Shenzhen, China). On the data, we explored only the first fungal positive samples or the first isolates in different episodes of the same patients. Upon The Clinical and Laboratory Standards Institute (CLSI) disk diffusion guidelines, conventional methods and the Phoenix™ 100 System (Becton Dickinson, Franklin Lakes, NJ, USA) were utilized for antifungal susceptibility identifications. RESULTS: The findings showed that 325 (0.84%) of 38,682 BC sets were positive for fungal growth. Except for four cases (1.2%) [Saprochaete capitata (n = 2); Trichosporon asahii (n = 1), and Saccharomyces cerevisiae (n = 1)], all positive cases yielded Candida spp. (98.8%) growth. In these patients, the following Candida spp. were isolated: Candida albicans complex (n = 155; 47.7%), Candida parapsilosis complex (n = 127; 39.1%), Candida glabrata complex (n = 19; 5.85%), Candida tropicalis (n = 12; 3.7%), Candida kefyr (n = 5; 1.54%), Candida krusei (n = 2; 0.62%), and Candida guilliermondii complex (n = 1; 0.31%). We also realized that while none of the Candida spp. had echinocandin resistance, 8 C. parapsilosis complex isolates were resistant to fluconazole, and 17 C. parapsilosis complex and 2 C. tropicalis isolates were susceptible dose-dependent to fluconazole. CONCLUSIONS: In brief, antifungal resistance is more likely to restrict therapeutic options, albeit it is, fortunately, not prevalent in Turkey despite a few recent reports. Yet, a robust detection or management of antifungal resistance requires species-level identification and strict compliance with relevant management guidelines. Besides, challenges in research may be compensated with a national data set built with data from local laboratories.

Nonlinear active microrheology molecular dynamics simulations of high-density two-dimensional fluids show that the presence of strong confining forces and an external pulling force induces a correlation between the velocity and position dynamics of the tracer particle. This correlation manifests in the form of an effective temperature and an effective mobility of the tracer particle, which is responsible for the breaking of the equilibrium fluctuation-dissipation theorem. This fact is shown by measuring the tracer particle's temperature and mobility directly from the first two moments of the velocity distribution of a tracer particle and by formulating a diffusion theory in which effective thermal and transport properties are decoupled from the velocity dynamics. Furthermore, the flexibility of the attractive and repulsive forces in the tested interaction potentials allowed us to relate the temperature and mobility behaviors to the nature of the interactions and the structure of the surrounding fluid as a function of the pulling force. These results provide a refreshing physical interpretation of the phenomena observed in non-linear active microrheology.

INTRODUCTION AND OBJECTIVES: Despite advances in treatment, cardiovascular disease is the second leading cause of death in Spain. The objective of this study was to determine the cost-effectiveness of the CNIC-Polypill strategy (acetylsalicylic acid 100 mg, atorvastatin 20/40 mg, ramipril 2.5/5/10 mg) compared with the same separate monocomponents for the secondary prevention of recurrent cardiovascular events in adults in Spain. MATERIALS AND METHODS: A Markov cost-utility model was adapted considering 4 health states (stable, subsequent major adverse cardiovascular event, subsequent ischemic stroke and death) and the SMART risk equation over a lifetime horizon from the perspective of the Spanish National Healthcare System. The CNIC-Polypill strategy was compared with monocomponents in a hypothetical cohort of 1000 secondary prevention patients. Effectiveness, epidemiological, cost and utilities data were obtained from the NEPTUNO study, official databases and literature. Outcomes were costs (in 2021 euros) per life-year (LY) and quality-adjusted LY (QALY) gained. A 3% discount rate was applied. Deterministic one-way and probabilistic sensitivity analyses evaluated the robustness of the model. RESULTS: The CNIC-Polypill strategy in secondary prevention results in more LY (13.22) and QALY (11.64) gains at a lower cost than monocomponents. The CNIC-Polypill is dominant and saves є280.68 per patient compared with monocomponents. The probabilistic sensitivity analysis shows that 82.4% of the simulations are below the threshold of є25,000 per QALY gained. CONCLUSIONS: The CNIC-Polypill strategy in secondary cardiovascular prevention is cost-effective compared with the same separate monocomponents, resulting in a cost-saving strategy to the Spanish National Healthcare System.

OBJECTIVE: Recurrent glial tumors treated with bevacizumab often develop diffusion restriction. In this study, we investigated the diffusion restriction pattern after bevacizumab treatment along with the relationship between apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC) values of regions with diffusion restriction and survival period as there are conflicting results on this relationship. PATIENTS AND METHODS: We retrospectively identified 24 patients treated with bevacizumab for recurrent glial tumor who had low ADC values after the onset of the treatment. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) findings were analyzed for the presence of restricted diffusion, time to onset, location, duration of restriction, and persistence of restriction after cessation of bevacizumab treatment. A retrospective study was performed to investigate the relationship between ADC values obtained at first post-bevacizumab scan and survival periods. RESULTS: Diffusion restriction appeared 2 to 6 months after the onset of bevacizumab therapy and persisted up to 24 months while on bevacizumab. The restricted diffusion persisted up to 6 months after cessation of bevacizumab. Our results showed that there is a negative correlation between ADC values and progression free survival as well as overall survival. Patients having diffusion restriction areas with lower ADC values after the initiation of bevacizumab treatment, are found to have increased overall and progression free survival (p<0.05). CONCLUSIONS: In patients with recurrent glial tumor treated with bevacizumab, diffusion restriction can be observed and the ADC values obtained from these areas at first post-bevacizumab MRI scan correlate with progression free and overall survival with the worst survival seen in patients with higher ADC values which therefore can be considered as an imaging marker that can predict the prognosis.

In this investigation, a sustainable and low-cost method to capture CO2 generated from the treatment of urban wastewater was evaluated. We studied the adsorption of CO2 on olive pomace biochar. The experiments of degradation of synthetic wastewater mimicking effluents of municipal wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) with an initial Total Organic Carbon (TOC) concentration of 10 mg L-1 were conducted by using the UV-C/H2O2 process in the absence or presence of biochar. The biochar was placed in a fixed bed column through which air from the UV reactor was circulated. First, the effects of different parameters such as H2O2 initial concentration and pH on wastewater mineralization efficiency were determined. Total Organic Carbon (TOC) removal was 87% in 2 h under optimal degradation conditions. The maximal concentration of CO2(gas) in air, in a closed system (air volume: 7.3 10-4 m3), after 11 h was 12,500 µmol mol-1 in the absence of biochar and only 150 µmol mol-1 when 10 g biochar were used. The results proved that by combining biochar with oxidative degradation of organic compounds, it is possible to mineralize organic compounds and reduce the requisite CO2 emissions by about 99%. The experimental equilibrium results were fit well with both Langmuir and Freundlich isotherms models concluding that CO2 adsorption on biochar followed both chemisorption and physisorption and both monolayer and multi-layer CO2 adsorption could occur. The total desorption of CO2 from biochar was reached in 120 min by simultaneously increasing the temperature to 150 °C and introducing a purge N2(gas).

AIM: To assess the effect of a Bayesian penalised likelihood (BPL) reconstruction algorithm on the five-point scale (5-PS) score, response categorisation, and potential implications for therapy decisions after interim 2-[18F]-fluoro-2-deoxy-d-glucose (FDG) positron-emission tomography (PET)-computed tomography (CT) (iPET-CT) to guide treatment in classical Hodgkin's lymphoma (HL). MATERIALS AND METHODS: The present study included new patients with HL undergoing iPET-CT from 2014-2019 after two cycles of doxorubicin (Adriamycin), bleomycin, vincristine, and dacarbazine (ABVD). Two reporters categorised response using the 5-PS and measured maximum standardised uptake values (SUVmax) of the most avid tumour residuum, mediastinal blood pool, and normal liver with ordered subset expected maximisation (OSEM) and BPL reconstructions. RESULTS: Eighty-one iPET-CT examinations were reviewed. Compared with OSEM, BPL increased the 5-PS score by a single score in 18/81 (22.2%) patients. The frequency of potential treatment intensification by changing a score of 3-4 was 13.6% (11/81) and represented 25% (11/44) of patients with a score of 3 on OSEM. All 11 patients remained in remission without a change in therapy (mean 63 months) except one who required second-line treatment for refractory disease. Median SUVmax of tumour residuum was significantly higher with BPL compared with OSEM (2.7 versus 2.4, p<<0.0001), whilst liver SUVmax was significantly lower for both reporters (up to 6.6%, p<0.0001). CONCLUSION: BPL PET reconstruction increased the 5-PS score on iPET-CT in 22% of HL patients and can potentially result in unnecessary treatment escalation in over half of these patients.

PURPOSE: Our study examined whether telemedicine use in primary care is associated with risk factor assessment and control for patients with diabetes mellitus. METHODS: This was a retrospective, 1:1 propensity score matched cohort study conducted in a primary care network between February 2020 and December 2020. Participants included patients with diabetes mellitus, ages 18 to 75. Exposure of interest was any telemedicine visit. We determined whether hemoglobin A1c (HbA1c), blood pressure (BP) and low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) were assessed for each patient. For each risk factor, we also determined whether the risk factor was controlled when they were assessed (i.e., last HbA1c < 8.0%, BP < 130/80 mmHg, LDL-C < 100 mg/dL). RESULTS: After 1:1 propensity score matching, we identified 1,824 patients with diabetes during the study period. Telemedicine use was associated with a lower proportion of patients with all three risk factors assessed (162/912 [18%], versus 408/912 [45%], p < 0.001). However, when individual risk factors were assessed, telemedicine use did not impact risk factor control. When compared with patients with in-person visit only, the odds ratio (OR) for HbA1c < 8% was 1.04 (95% CI 0.74 to 1.46, p = 0.23) for patients with any telemedicine visit. Similarly, the OR for BP < 130/80 mmHg was 1.08 (95% CI 0.85-1.36 p = 0.53), and the OR for LDL-C < 100 mg/dL was 1.14 (95% CI 0.76-1.72, p = 0.52). CONCLUSIONS: Telemedicine use was associated with gaps in risk factor assessment for patients with diabetes during the COVID-19 pandemic, but had limited impact on whether risk factors were controlled.

Temephos and spinosad are pesticides used for control of vector-borne diseases such as dengue, chikungunya and zika. However, the inadequate use of these substances has affected the health of non-target organisms. The aim of this study was to evaluate and compare, the effects of temephos and spinosad on leukocyte viability and death, using guppy fish (Poecilia reticulate) as a model organism. Guppies were exposed to temephos (10 mg/L) and spinosad (0.5 mg/L) for 7, 14, and 21 days. Afterwards, they were placed in pesticide-free fish tanks (7, 35, and 70 days) for recovery. The results showed that exposure to temephos caused leukocyte death, even at 35 days of recovery. Contrarily, the exposure to spinosad did not cause leukocyte death. This research show, for the first time, that a single dose of temephos causes apoptosis up to 56 days post-exposition, indicating that this pesticide induces chronic effects on immune response cells.

COVID-19 is a worldwide health emergency, therapy for this disease is based on antiviral drugs and immunomodulators, however, there is no treatment to effectively reduce the COVID-19 mortality rate. Fucoidan is a polysaccharide obtained from marine brown algae, with anti-inflammatory, antiviral, and immune-enhancing properties, thus, fucoidan may be used as an alternative treatment (complementary to prescribed medical therapy) for the recovery of COVID-19.  This work aimed to determine the effects of ex-vivo treatment with fucoidan on cytotoxicity, apoptosis, necrosis, and senescence, besides functional parameters of calcium flux and mitochondrial membrane potential (ΔΨm) on human peripheral blood mononuclear cells isolated from SARS-CoV-2 infected, recovered and healthy subjects. Data suggest that fucoidan does not exert cytotoxicity or senescence, however, it induces the increment of intracellular calcium flux. Additionally, fucoidan promotes recovery of ΔΨm in PBMCs from COVID-19 recovered females. Data suggest that fucoidan could ameliorate the immune response in COVID-19 patients.

During extensive surveys of global Phytophthora diversity 14 new species detected in natural ecosystems in Chile, Indonesia, USA (Louisiana), Sweden, Ukraine and Vietnam were assigned to Phytophthora major Clade 10 based on a multigene phylogeny of nine nuclear and three mitochondrial gene regions. Clade 10 now comprises three subclades. Subclades 10a and 10b contain species with nonpapillate sporangia, a range of breeding systems and a mainly soil- and waterborne lifestyle. These include the previously described P. afrocarpa, P. gallica and P. intercalaris and eight of the new species: P. ludoviciana, P. procera, P. pseudogallica, P. scandinavica, P. subarctica, P. tenuimura, P. tonkinensis and P. ukrainensis. In contrast, all species in Subclade 10c have papillate sporangia and are self-fertile (or homothallic) with an aerial lifestyle including the known P. boehmeriae, P. gondwanensis, P. kernoviae and P. morindae and the new species P. celebensis, P. chilensis, P. javanensis, P. multiglobulosa, P. pseudochilensis and P. pseudokernoviae. All new Phytophthora species differed from each other and from related species by their unique combinations of morphological characters, breeding systems, cardinal temperatures and growth rates. The biogeography and evolutionary history of Clade 10 are discussed. We propose that the three subclades originated via the early divergence of pre-Gondwanan ancestors > 175 Mya into water- and soilborne and aerially dispersed lineages and subsequently underwent multiple allopatric and sympatric radiations during their global spread. Clues to a planet's geologic history are contained in its interior structure, particularly its core. We detected reflections of seismic waves from the core-mantle boundary of Mars using InSight seismic data and inverted these together with geodetic data to constrain the radius of the liquid metal core to 1830 ± 40 kilometers. The large core implies a martian mantle mineralogically similar to the terrestrial upper mantle and transition zone but differing from Earth by not having a bridgmanite-dominated lower mantle. We inferred a mean core density of 5.7 to 6.3 grams per cubic centimeter, which requires a substantial complement of light elements dissolved in the iron-nickel core. The seismic core shadow as seen from InSight's location covers half the surface of Mars, including the majority of potentially active regions-e.g., Tharsis-possibly limiting the number of detectable marsquakes.

The capture of ambient air CO2(gas) from synthetic urban wastewater mineralization reaction was studied. An ion exchange membrane was used as sorbent, which adsorbs CO2 when dry and releases it when wet. The UV/H2O2 degradation process was chosen to convert Total Organic Carbon (TOC) to carbon dioxide due to its advantages of convenience and fast kinetics over the conventional biological treatment that is usually used in urban wastewater treatment plants. In the first phase, experiments combining UV-C light and H2O2 were carried out to select the optimal values of the following parameters: pH, the dose of H2O2 and temperature. In the second stage, the CO2(gas) emission into the air from the degradation of organic compounds present in wastewater during UV/H2O2 process in the absence or presence of ion exchange membranes was evaluated. The effects of parameters such as temperature or air humidity were studied. A qualitative study of desorption was carried out to check the viability of reuse CO2 captured in the membrane. Finally, a similar CO2(gas) adsorption capacity after five cycles of adsorption and regeneration of the membranes was observed, being percentage loss of around 4%.

The data presented here contains project-level details on 104 renewable energy mini-grid projects installed for rural electrification across the globe; a subset of which is used to derive evidence-based empirical insights on the drivers of project success and cost in the article "An Analysis of Renewable Mini-Grid Projects for Rural Electrification" [1]. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first meta-collection of micro-level data on rural mini-grid installations. In addition, the literature search and the inclusion criteria of the studies used in the meta-analysis is reported, along with a complete list of sources, which can be utilized directly by other researchers and practitioners to reproduce or expand the database according to their own criteria and use it in further studies. Finally, the supplemental material in [2] includes the Stata code and output that can be used to reproduce the meta-analysis results in [1].

Mycoviruses are widespread and purportedly common throughout the fungal kingdom, although most are known from hosts in the two most recently diverged phyla, Ascomycota and Basidiomycota, together called Dikarya. To augment our knowledge of mycovirus prevalence and diversity in underexplored fungi, we conducted a large-scale survey of fungi in the earlier-diverging lineages, using both culture-based and transcriptome-mining approaches to search for RNA viruses. In total, 21.6% of 333 isolates were positive for RNA mycoviruses. This is a greater proportion than expected based on previous taxonomically broad mycovirus surveys and is suggestive of a strong phylogenetic component to mycoviral infection. Our newly found viral sequences are diverse, composed of double-stranded RNA, positive-sense single-stranded RNA (ssRNA), and negative-sense ssRNA genomes and include novel lineages lacking representation in the public databases. These identified viruses could be classified into 2 orders, 5 families, and 5 genera; however, half of the viruses remain taxonomically unassigned. Further, we identified a lineage of virus-like sequences in the genomes of members of Phycomycetaceae and Mortierellales that appear to be novel genes derived from integration of a viral RNA-dependent RNA polymerase gene. The two screening methods largely agreed in their detection of viruses; thus, we suggest that the culture-based assay is a cost-effective means to quickly assess whether a laboratory culture is virally infected. This study used culture collections and publicly available transcriptomes to demonstrate that mycoviruses are abundant in laboratory cultures of early-diverging fungal lineages. The function and diversity of mycoviruses found here will help guide future studies into mycovirus origins and ecological functions.IMPORTANCE Viruses are key drivers of evolution and ecosystem function and are increasingly recognized as symbionts of fungi. Fungi in early-diverging lineages are widespread, ecologically important, and comprise the majority of the phylogenetic diversity of the kingdom. Viruses infecting early-diverging lineages of fungi have been almost entirely unstudied. In this study, we screened fungi for viruses by two alternative approaches: a classic culture-based method and by transcriptome-mining. The results of our large-scale survey demonstrate that early-diverging lineages have higher infection rates than have been previously reported in other fungal taxa and that laboratory strains worldwide are host to infections, the implications of which are unknown. The function and diversity of mycoviruses found in these basal fungal lineages will help guide future studies into mycovirus origins and their evolutionary ramifications and ecological impacts.

Cell entry of enveloped viruses requires specialized viral proteins that mediate fusion with the host membrane by substantial structural rearrangements from a metastable pre- to a stable postfusion conformation. This metastability renders the herpes simplex virus 1 (HSV-1) fusion glycoprotein B (gB) highly unstable such that it readily converts into the postfusion form, thereby precluding structural elucidation of the pharmacologically relevant prefusion conformation. By identification of conserved sequence signatures and molecular dynamics simulations, we devised a mutation that stabilized this form. Functionally locking gB allowed the structural determination of its membrane-embedded prefusion conformation at sub-nanometer resolution and enabled the unambiguous fit of all ectodomains. The resulting pseudo-atomic model reveals a notable conservation of conformational domain rearrangements during fusion between HSV-1 gB and the vesicular stomatitis virus glycoprotein G, despite their very distant phylogeny. In combination with our comparative sequence-structure analysis, these findings suggest common fusogenic domain rearrangements in all class III viral fusion proteins.
