RESUMO

The authors report the results of clinical examination of the respiratory, organs of 97 patients with hemorrhagic fever and renal syndrome (HFRS) with confirmed Puumala serotype. Retrospective analysis of 16 fatal cases is presented. It is shown that patients with moderately severe and severe forms of the disease exhibit early clinical and X-ray signs of pulmonary lesions and respiratory insufficiency Some of them suffer acute respiratory distress syndrome confirmed by morphological findings at autopsy.

RESUMO

Kinetics of growth inhibition of fungi Fusarium and Bipolaris caused by bacteria Pseudomonas sp. V-6798 and Azotobacter chroococum V-2272 D on dense nutrient media, both in single-crop system and by coinoculation, was demonstrated. The speed of fungal colonies growth as a function of bacteria concentration in inoculate was shown to be in accordance with the Ierysalimskii modified equation. The degree of antagonistic activity was suggested to be assessed by the constant of inhibition (Ki) and residual rate of fungi growth. Constant of inhibition of fungal growth by bacteria varied within 10-100 cells/ml for observed species. More effective fungistatic influence of bacterial strains in combined culture was observed. Parameters reported in the present study allow comparing the degree of bacteria antifungal activity in vitro. Suggested screening method could be used for selection of bacteria as activity biofungicide and while selecting biomedication for defined plant pathogen disruption.

RESUMO

Combined effect of 460-MHz microwave irradiation and increased (up to 40 degrees C) temperature on Drosophila embryos of definite age was studied. It was demonstrated that the effect of 5-min exposures to non-modulated microwaves with 6 W/kg SAR accompanied with heating is only a little stronger than at normal temperature (24.5 degrees C). Irradiation with pulse-modulated microwaves with pulse repetition rates of 6, 10, 16, and 22 p.p.s. with average SAR of 0.12 W/kg (pulsed SAR 3 W/kg) combined with increased temperature caused some changes in PID dependent on the pulse rate. At 6 and 22 p.p.s, the increase in PID was close to that observed at normal temperature while at 10 and 16 p.p.s. the microwave irradiation did not produce any noticeable effect on development of the Drosophilas.

RESUMO

Effect of electromagnetic radiation 460 MHz with 2.5-40 Hz pulse modulation rate on Drosophila embryos of 15 h 10 m age was studied. It was demonstrated that a 5-min irradiation with 0.12 W/kg average SAR (3 W/kg pulsed SAR) alters the Drosophila percentage of interrupted development. The effect strength depended on the modulation rate with a pronounced decrease at 10 and 16 Hz. A hypothesis about the presence of thermal and non-thermal mechanisms of action of pulse-modulated microwave radiation diversely effecting the embryos has been put forward and grounded.

RESUMO

Microwave effects on drosophila morphogenesis were studied. Drosophila embryo were exposed by continuous wave 460 MHz at SAR = 1-5 Wt/kg. It was found that irradiation induced some morphosis such as imago legs and wings form alterations. These effects depended on embryo age, SAR and period exposure. It was proposed that the local microwave heating is responsible for describe effects.

RESUMO

The experimental potentials of the method for selection against provocative background (autoselection) in artificial populations of Drosophila melanogaster were analysed. The dynamics of adaptation of Drosophila population under increasing NaCl concentration in food was studied. It appeared that selection was successful in case of feedback between the selection pressure, mediated by alteration of salt concentration, and the rate of flies adaptation determined by the intensity of their reproduction. Within a short period of time, as the result of autoselection, the flies' ability for development with NaCl of up to 8% concentration in food was registered. It was shown that this resistance of flies to the salt was inherited within twelve successive generations.

RESUMO

Vital cells number (VCN) in the sampling of E. coli populations was experimentally measured and distribution histograms were obtained. In most cases distributions show considerable deviation from Poisson model. VCN distribution histograms are polymodal, dispersion/arithmetical mean ratio may essentially differ from 1. The more essential differences from Poisson distribution were observed for populations with the higher cell concentration. Computer simulation of the VCN histograms indicated that additional parameters (such as those describing cellular interaction of different nature and/or other factors that influence random behaviour of cells) should be introduced into Poisson model to explain observed variations in VCN distribution histograms.

RESUMO

Macroscopic fluctuations of liver alcohol dehydrogenase enzymic activity in complex reaction consisting in ethanol oxidation and butyraldehyde reduction were studied. It was found that maximal fluctuation amplitude was observed when the rates of both reactions were equal. Such dependence indicates connection between macroscopic fluctuations in alcohol dehydrogenase reaction and oscillations of relative affinity of the enzyme to oxidized and reduced coenzyme forms.

RESUMO

Kinetic analysis of macroscopic fluctuations in alcohol dehydrogenase reaction was carried out. The integral form of Michaelis-Menten equation was used. It is shown that reaction rate fluctuations to be observed in experiment are connected with kinetic constants of relative affinity of ADG to NAD and NAD X H.

RESUMO

The growth specific rate, cells dimensions, the number of cells gemmation, juvenile and postjuvenile development phases duration have been measured on the yeast turbidostate culture Saccharomyces cerevisiae strain 14 growing under different temperature conditions. 33 degrees C has been found to be the optimum temperature. Cells surface area is minimum at that temperature. The number of cells gemmation is the same at suboptimum and optimum temperature but it decreases at supraoptimum one. It has been concluded that the culture growing at 33 degrees C is in the least steady state with dependence typical of the system enduring phase transition.

RESUMO

When studying alcohol dehydrogenase reaction spontaneous oscillations of reaction rate were revealed. The value of these fluctuations essentially exceeded measuring error. The fluctuation amplitude had the maximum value when minimum buffer concentrations were used. Distribution of fluctuations according to their values was polymodal in all experiments. These oscillations seem to be classified as "macroscopic fluctuations" which have been revealed by S. Shnoll & coll [3].

RESUMO

Morphological lesions of the kidneys in 59 autopsy observations of acute intestinal infections in children were studied. The greatest disorders were found in patients with the toxico-septic form of intestinal infections complicated by the development of bacterial shock. Impairments of the microcirculatory hemodynamics accompanied by dystrophic and necrotic changes in the epithelium of the tubules underlie renal lesions. These changes directly depend on the duration of bacterial shock. With a protracted course of bacterial shock acute renal insufficiency develops. In other forms of the disease renal lesions are insignificant and do not constitute a serious part of tanatogenesis.
