RESUMO
Granuloma annulare (GA) is an uncommon benign inflammatory skin condition, most often found on the extremities of young females. The subcutaneous variant of GA involving the penis is very rare. We report a case of subcutaneous GA associated with a urethral anomaly in a 15-year-old boy that persisted for a year. Treatment options are discussed with a review of the current literature.

Meconium peritonitis results from antenatal perforation of the gastrointestinal tract; it presents as gastrointestinal obstruction, intraabdominal masses, or calcification. The presentation with passage of meconium per vagina secondary to meconium peritonitis is rare. We describe the radiologic and surgical findings in a neonate who had passage of meconium per vagina secondary to ileal atresia and meconium peritonitis. Initial clinical and radiologic examination suggested rectal atresia with an associated rectovaginal fistula, although subsequently, this was not the case. Possible explanations for the passage of meconium per vagina include decompression of a meconium cyst via the left fallopian tube or direct perforation of a collection into the vagina from the peritoneal cavity.

PURPOSE: The aim of this study was to investigate the long-term histologic changes after bladder augmentation with gastric segment in an animal subject. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Gastrocystoplasty was performed in 13 young, 3-month-old male rabbits. Open biopsies were taken from the native bladder and the gastric segment preoperatively and at 3, 6, and 12 months postoperatively. Sections were examined with H&E and periodic acid-Schiff (PAS) staining. Indirect immune peroxidase method was additionally applied to detect the carcinoembrionic antigen, the proliferative activity, and the gene for the tumor protein p53 in the epithelium. RESULTS: On the native bladder, at the 3-month follow-up, polyps, mucosal edema, submucosal fibrosis, and squamous cell metaplasia were detected, which did not change during the follow-up. On the gastric segment, at the 3-month follow-up, parietal cell hyperplasia and inflammatory mucosal overgrowth were detected; at the 6-month follow-up, inflammation or atrophy of the gastric mucosa and colonic-type metaplasia was found. These alterations remained unchanged during later course of follow-up. Neither dysplasia nor malignancy was observed during the 12-month follow-up. CONCLUSIONS: The present study supports the clinical observations of low cancer risk after gastrocystoplasty and may indicate different effect of gastric secretion on uroepithelium and that of urine on gastric mucosa.

The authors present a case of posterior cloaca in an 8-year-old girl. The diagnosis of this rare anomaly requires meticulous examination of the female genitalia and detailed radiological investigation. She underwent total urogenital mobilization (TUM) without opening the anal canal and the rectum. Eighteen months of follow up period she continues to have full bowel and urinary control with almost normal looking genitalia.

The authors present a case of an infant who was treated for recurrent vomiting following pyloromyotomy. Gastroscopic examination showed a polypoid tumour of 4-5 mm in diameter located at the antral region. The patient recovered following re-pyloromyotomy.
