RESUMO

Objective: To investigate the external application of traditional Chinese medicine in the prevention and treatment of nausea and vomiting caused by chemotherapy of non-small-cell lung cancer. Methods: This is a prospective trial. A total of 114 patients with non-small-cell lung cancer who were hospitalized in our hospital from October 2020 to March 2022 were selected and randomly divided into the research group and the control group at the ratio of 1 : 1. The control group received chemotherapy + tropisetron 4 mg intravenous drip 30 minutes before chemotherapy./day × 3 days. The research group received chemotherapy + intravenous infusion of tropisetron 4 mg 30 minutes before chemotherapy, once a day for 3 days + external application of traditional Chinese medicine for 5 days. The therapeutic effects of the two groups of patients were compared. Results: After treatment, the serum creatinine, urea nitrogen, and endogenous creatinine in the research group were better than those in the control group (t = 15.943, 12.005, and 13.325; P=0.001, 0.005, and 0.005). After treatment, ALT and TBIL in the research group were superior to those in the control group (t = 11.583, 10.012, and 9.426; P=0.001, 0.002, and 0.001). After treatment, the physiological status, social/family status, emotional status, and family status of the research group were significantly better than those in the control group (t = 16.274, 5.379, 5.142, and 8.153; P=0.005, 0.000, 0.002, and 0.001). After treatment, the ECOG score and KPS score (82.46 ± 4.61) of the research group were significantly different from those of the control group (t = 11.913 and 9.357; P=0.035 and 0.001). The effective rate (χ 2 = 11.724; P=0.000) of the research group was higher but the incidence of adverse reaction (χ 2 = 4.294; P=0.001) was lower than that of the control group. Conclusion: External application of traditional Chinese medicine can significantly reduce nausea and vomiting caused by chemotherapy of non-small-cell lung cancer and can improve the patient's body and quality of life, which is worthy of clinical research and promotion.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: To observe the effect of acupotomy lysis on serum matrix metalloproteinase (MMP)-3 and MMP-13 contents in osteoarthritis (OA) rabbits. METHODS: A total of 34 New Zealand rabbits were randomly divided into normal group (n = 7), model group (n = 7), acupotomy group (n = 10) and electroacupuncture (EA) group (n = 10). OA model was established by left-hindlimb-joint-immobilization method. Acupotomy lysis was applied to the affected joint, once a week for 3 weeks. EA (2/100 Hz, 2 mA) was applied to "Yinlingquan" (SP 9), "Yanglingquan" (GB 34) and "Liangqiu" (ST 34) on the left hindlimb for 10 min, 3 times a week for 3 weeks. Serum MMP-3 and MMP-13 contents were detected with enzyme linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) method. RESULTS: In comparison with model group (grade III: 1 case; grade: 4 cases), the left knee-joint-motion range of rabbits in acupotomy and EA groups (grade I: 1 and 1 case; grade II: 4 and 3 cases; grade III: 2 and 2 cases; grade IV: 1 and 2 cases separately) increased significantly (P < 0.05). Compared with normal group, serum MMP-3 and MMP-13 contents in model group increased significantly (P < 0.05); while compared with model group, both MMP-3 and MMP-13 levels of acupotomy and EA groups reduced considerably (P < 0.05). No obvious difference was found between acupotomy and EA groups in the left knee-joint motion range, and serum MMP-3 and MMP-13 levels (P > 0.05). CONCLUSION: Acupotomy is effective in lowering serum MMP-3 and MMP-13 levels, and in improving OA rabbits' knee-joint motion range.

RESUMO

The theories and clinical and experimental studies about reinforcing-reducing manipulation of twirling rotating the needle in recent 15 years are reviewed and a brief account of manipulation methods, mechanisms and effects of reinforcing-reducing manipulation of twirling-rotating the needle is given, and it is indicated that the following several aspects in the studies at present need to be completed. Standardization and establishment of national standard of acupuncture manipulation must be enforced; quantitative parameters of acupuncture manipulation and mechanisms of acupuncture reinforcing-reducing of twirling-rotating the needle need to be further studied.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: To assess the role of Zhongji (CV 3) in treatment of benign hyperplasia of prostate. METHODS: Multi-central, randomized, controlled, single bland clinical method was adopted, and 276 cases were divided into an electroacupuncture (EA) group and a medication group, 138 cases in each group. The EA group were treated with EA at Zhongji (CV 3) and the medication group with oral administration of Qianliekang tablets. After treatment of 1 course, their therapeutic effects and changes of international prostate symptom (I-PSS) cumulative score, life quality index (L) cumulative score, nocturia times, urine stream state, lower abdominal symptom, maximal volume of urine flow, residual urine volume, prostatic volume, etc. Were assessed in the two groups. RESULTS: The total effective rate was 96.4% in the EA group and 86.2% in the medication group, the former being better than the latter (P<0. 01); the two groups were effective in improvement of international prostate symptom (I-PSS) cumulative score, life quality index (L) cumulative score, nocturia times, urine stream state, hypogastrium symptom, maximal volume of urine flow, residual urine volume, prostatic volume, etc. with the former better than the latter. CONCLUSION: Acupuncture at Zhongji (CV 3) has a significant therapeutic effect for treatment of benign hyperplasia of prostate.
