RESUMO

Spontaneous chylous peritonitis during pregnancy is a rare disease. Only a few publications are currently devoted to this problem. The authors reported successful treatment of a patient with spontaneous chylous peritonitis in the first trimester of pregnancy. Moreover, etiology, epidemiology, pathophysiology, diagnosis and treatment of patients with spontaneous chylous peritonitis and chiloperitoneum are analyzed. The authors consider laparoscopy as a safe and efficient method of treatment of patients with spontaneous chylous peritonitis including pregnant women.

RESUMO

Results of 335 combined operations were analyzed. Men were 89 (27%), women - 246 (73%), the majority of patients were of middle age. 285 (85%) operations included cholecystectomy. 195 (58%) patients had hernioplasty. The third place belonged to vascular operations - 76 (23%). Certain predisposing factors, correlating with the risk of the complicated postoperative course, were marked out. Indications and contraindications to the combined operation were assigned, based on the number of predisposing factors in a patient. Considering the increased risk of intraoperative complications during the combined operation (increased duration, blood loss), participation of highly experienced surgeons and use of modern high-tech equipment seem to be reasonable. The general results of the analysis prove that combined operations are effective, safe and economically beneficial.

RESUMO

The present study was designed to estimate the long-term trends in the variations of wrist size and analyse the precision of models currently employed for determining the body length of adult subjects from the wrist size. Anthropometric data were obtained from 1177 subjects residing in different regions of Russia (X-ray wrist images and body length measurements). It was shown that the relative wrist size is a more stable parameter than the body length. The multiple regression models for the determination of the body length from the wrist size taking into account the subject's age or the whole stock of the available data are discussed. It is argued that the long-term variability of the relative wrist size needs to be taken into consideration for the development and application of regressive models for determining the body length.

RESUMO

The results of surgical treatment of 452 patients, suffering chronic pancreatitis (CHP), were analyzed. The CHP classification, elaborated by M. Buchler and coworkers (2009), based on clinical signs, morphological peculiarities and pancreatic function analysis, contains scientifically substantiated recommendations for choice of diagnostic methods and complex treatment of the disease. The classification proposed is simple in application and constitutes an instrument for studying and comparison of the CHP course severity, the patients prognosis and treatment.

RESUMO

The authors propose methods for the determination of the body length of adult persons based on the planimetric analysis of X-ray images of the wrist bones. The body length was calculated with the help of regression equations derived with reference to the age-specific changes of the wrist bones visible on X-ray images. The results of the calculation were compared with the known body length of selected subjects.

RESUMO

A content in the blood serum of a free and connected oxyproline, collagenolytic activity of the blood, the level of glycosaminoglycans and elastase activity was detected in chronic pancreatitis (CHP). There were examined 73 patients (64 men and 9 women). CHP in a stage B (according to M. Buchler et al., 2009) was established in 26 (35.6%) patients, C1 - in 18 (24.6%), C2 - in 17 (23.4%), C3 - in 12 (16.4%). A progress of pancreatic fibrosis in CHP have occurred on a background of a high activity of elastase in neutrophils, a glycosaminoglycans level raising, as well as a free and connected oxyproline. A detection of a neutrophils elastase activity and oxyproline content in the blood serum may be used in a clinical practice as additional diagnostic criteria of estimation of the pancreatic pathology severity. The changes revealed were the same as in CHP of alcoholic and of the other nature.

RESUMO

A planimetric analysis of hand bones x-ray images is proposed for gender identification. The gender is determined by two methods: by interval estimation of bones size and calculation of the discriminant function and its comparison with group centroid values.

RESUMO

The pregnancy course, labor, delivery and early neonatal period were studied in pregnant women with Chlamydia trachomatis infection as well as in their children. The levels of specific antibodies to Chlamydia trachomatis pgp 3 plasmid protein in maternal sera as well as perinatal complications were comparatively analyzed. According to the results, examination of anti-pgp3 antibodies is a highly specific and useful tool for the detection of Chlamydia trachomatis infection at its active stage in pregnant women.

RESUMO

An anthropological method designed for determining the age is under discussion; it is based on the point-evaluation of age-related changes observed in the hand bones by X-Ray, i.e. osteophytes, osteoporosis, osteosclerosis and joint deformations. The method was made use of to elaborate a new modified point-based assessment of the above changes in the hand bones with respect to their severity.
