RESUMO

AIM: Study of the role of P. aeruginosa in the development of osteomyelitis of sternum and ribs in cardio-surgery patients, and analysis of the main biological properties of the isolated bacterial strains. MATERIALS AND METHODS: 132 bacterial cultures were isolated from 83 hospital patients as a result of bacteriological examination during 2007-2013. Wound discharge was the study mate- rial. Sampling, seeding and identification of the isolated cultures was carried out by using the respective test-systems; antibiotic sensitivity was studied by disc-diffusion method. RESULTS: The proportion of P. aeruginosa was 10.6% (n = 14) that is comparable with data on wound infections of general surgery hospitals. A direct and strong correlation (R = 0.846, p = 0.000132) between hemolytic and phospholipase activity was established during evaluation of virulence properties of the isolated-strains. The degree of film-forming ability varied significantly from 0.122 to 1.412 OD; 64.3% ofthe studied cultures were highly film-forming variants. Statistically significant association between biofilm formation and other studied properties was not found. 4 strains produced VIM2-type metallo-betalactamase and had identical RAPD profiles. CONCLUSION: Considering that earlier the similar cultures were not detected and all of them were isolated at a short interval of time, we have made a conclusion, that their short-term circulation is probably associated with introduction, which was the reason for patient infection. P. aeruginosa could be the etio-pathogen of both early and later complications of cardio-surgical interventions.

RESUMO

AIM: Study the state of intestine microbiocenosis in patients with chronic pancreatitis, give comparative evaluation of diagnostic significance of bacterial and gas-liquid chromatography analysis. MATERIALS AND METHODS: 96 patients with chronic pancreatitis (CP) were examined bacteriologically for dysbacteriosis. In parallel in 42 individuals gas-liquid chromatography analysis (GLC-analysis) was carried out. RESULTS: During bacteriological examination in 93.7% of patients various dysbiotic disorders were detected. The main indicators of GLC-analysis---anaerobic index, cumulative content of volatile fatty acids and their isoforms also gave evidence on imbalance of intestine microflora. GLC-analysis as a rule confirmed the data of bacteriological examination. CONCLUSION: During parallel use ofbacteriological and gas-liquid chromatography analysis in almost all the CP patients intestine dysbacteriosis of various degree of intensity was detected. Combined use of these methods increases effectiveness of examination.

RESUMO

The objective of the present study was to provide hygienic assessment of hospital wards equipped with the therapeutic sylvinite screens (TSS) and compare the results of the treatment of 80 patients suffering vulgar psoriasis with the use of TSS and without them. The sylvinite screens made it possible to create comfortable microenvironment in the wards and moderately increased the radiation background (0,15+/-0,005 Sv/hour) thereby promoting saturation of the ward atmosphere with aeroions dominated by the light negative particles (491,5+/-14,4 units/cm3). Such healthy environment hadc beneficial effect on the clinical course of the psoriatic process, the state of functional systems of the patients and their quality of life. It is concluded that the introduction of halotherapy in the treatment in patients presenting with vulgar psoriasis makes it possible to achieve clinical remission in 65% of them compared with 20% of the patients given the traditional treatment.

RESUMO

AIM: Analysis of IgG titers that are specific to various hepatitis C proteins depending on features of chronic infection course. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Qualitative analysis of levels of IgG specific to a number of hepatitis C virus proteins was performed in 30 patients and 30 virus carriers. RESULTS: Significant differences between these HCV infection course variants by level of accumulation of all studied HCV antibody groups were detected. Low a-core and a-NS4 IgG, high a-NS3 and medium a-NS5 titers may be an indicator of HCV carriage. Medium and high a-core, medium a-NS3 and a-NS4 as well as higher a-NS5 titers indicate chronic hepatitis C. CONCLUSION: The proposed method can be used for screening of chronic HCV infection course in the clinical practice.

RESUMO

In this article the problems of immunodiagnostics of generalized and local chlamydial infections are discussed. Extensive material is used for the substantiation of the expediency of using serological methods for diagnosing zoonotic and anthroponotic chlamydial infections. A rational scheme of using the passive hemagglutination (PHA) test and the complement fixation test for the detection of generalized chlamydial infections, as well as the PHA test and the indirect immunofluorescence test for diagnosing urogenital chlamydial infections.

RESUMO

The problems of the optimization of the therapeutic action of probiotics are discussed. Their use in combination with vitamin-enriched food additives is recommended. Balsams "Beryozka" and "Zolotoi koren" have been found to promote the adhesive capacity of bifidobacteria and lactobacteria. At the same time "Zolotoi koren" also enhances the functional activity of lactobacilli. The increase of the adhesive capacity and metabolic activity of automicroflora on one hand and the pronounced biostimulating effect of the balsams on the other hand may ensure a sufficiently high level of the colonization resistance of the body.

RESUMO

The possibility of using, on principle, the immunofluorescent microagglutination test with Chlamydia fluorescent corpuscular antigen for the strain-specific differentiation of immune response induced by the causative agents of ornithosis (strain B), enzootic abortus ovis (strain EAE) and lymphogranuloma venereum (strain LV) has been experimentally demonstrated. The calculation of indices, characterizing the specificity of differences between the systems under comparison, by the method of S. Frasser and D. Berman (1965) has confirmed the significance of such differentiation.

RESUMO

The possibility of using the complement fixation test and, mainly, the indirect hemagglutination test with the use of group-specific diagnostic reagents for the tentative serological detection of urogenital chlamydiasis has been studied. The indirect hemagglutination test has proved to be sufficiently informative. Further investigation aimed at the study of the sensitivity and specificity of this test in urogenital chlamydiasis are believed to be expedient and promising.
