RESUMO

Optical nonlinearities are one of the most fascinating properties of two-dimensional (2D) materials. While tremendous efforts have been made to find and optimize the second-order optical nonlinearity in enormous 2D materials, opportunities to explore higher-order ones are elusive because of the much lower efficiency. Here, we report the giant high odd-order optical nonlinearities in centrosymmetric correlated van der Waals insulator manganese phosphorus triselenide. When illuminated by two near-infrared femtosecond lasers, the sample generates a series of profound four- and six-wave mixing outputs. The near-infrared third-order nonlinear susceptibility reaches near the highest record values of 2D materials. Comparative measurements to other prototypical nonlinear optical materials [lithium niobate, gallium(II) selenide, and tungsten disulfide] reveal its extraordinary wave mixing efficiency. The wave mixing processes are further used for nonlinear optical waveguide with multicolor emission. Our work highlights the promising prospect for future research of the nonlinear light-matter interactions in the correlated 2D system and for potential nonlinear photonic applications.

Rhombohedral-stacked transition-metal dichalcogenides (3R-TMDs), which are distinct from their hexagonal counterparts, exhibit higher carrier mobility, sliding ferroelectricity, and coherently enhanced nonlinear optical responses. However, surface epitaxial growth of large multilayer 3R-TMD single crystals is difficult. We report an interfacial epitaxy methodology for their growth of several compositions, including molybdenum disulfide (MoS2), molybdenum diselenide, tungsten disulfide, tungsten diselenide, niobium disulfide, niobium diselenide, and molybdenum sulfoselenide. Feeding of metals and chalcogens continuously to the interface between a single-crystal Ni substrate and grown layers ensured consistent 3R stacking sequence and controlled thickness from a few to 15,000 layers. Comprehensive characterizations confirmed the large-scale uniformity, high crystallinity, and phase purity of these films. The as-grown 3R-MoS2 exhibited room-temperature mobilities up to 155 and 190 square centimeters per volt second for bi- and trilayers, respectively. Optical difference frequency generation with thick 3R-MoS2 showed markedly enhanced nonlinear response under a quasi-phase matching condition (five orders of magnitude greater than monolayers).

Purpose: We aimed to explore changes in plasma and urine indole lactic acid (ILA) levels and the relationship between inflammation and ILA in chronic kidney disease (CKD) patients and healthy people. Patients and Methods: Forty-seven CKD patients and 30 healthy individuals were included in this study. One-way ANOVA was used for variables with normal distribution and homogeneous variance. A rank-sum test was performed for non-normally distributed variables. Correlation analyses were performed using Pearson's or Spearman correlation analyses. Independent relationship between patients and CKD was analyzed using ordinal and binary logistic regressions. Receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve was used. Results: Plasma and urine ILA levels were positively correlated (r = 0.51, P < 0.01). Plasma ILA was positively correlated with BMI, age, creatinine, BUN, triglycerides, and uric acid and negatively correlated with hemoglobin levels. Urine ILA levels were positively correlated with age, creatinine, BUN, and uric acid and negatively correlated with hemoglobin and albumin levels. Ordered logistic regression analysis showed that CKD was significantly correlated with plasma ILA (OR=4.49, P < 0.01), urinary ILA (OR=2.14,P < 0.01), urea levels (OR=1.43, P < 0.01) and hemoglobin levels (OR=0.95, P < 0.01) were significantly related. ROC curves indicated that plasma and urinary ILA were reliable predictors of CKD. CKD was correlated with plasma, urine ILA (OR=5.92, P < 0.01; OR=2.79, P < 0.01) and Hs-CRP (OR=2.45, P < 0.01). Conclusion: Plasma and urine ILA can potentially be used as biomarkers of CKD and inflammatory status.

RATIONALE AND OBJECTIVES: To assess the efficacy of a preoperative contrast-enhanced CT (CECT)-based deep learning radiomics nomogram (DLRN) for predicting murine double minute 2 (MDM2) gene amplification as a means of distinguishing between retroperitoneal well-differentiated liposarcomas (WDLPS) and lipomas. METHODS: This retrospective multi-center study included 167 patients (training/external test cohort, 104/63) with MDM2-positive WDLPS or MDM2-negative lipomas. Clinical data and CECT features were independently measured and analyzed by two radiologists. A clinico-radiological model, radiomics signature (RS), deep learning and radiomics signature (DLRS), and a DLRN incorporating radiomics and deep learning features were developed to differentiate between WDLPS and lipoma. The model utility was evaluated based on the area under the receiver operating characteristic curve (AUC), accuracy, calibration curve, and decision curve analysis (DCA). RESULTS: The DLRN showed good performance for distinguishing retroperitoneal lipomas and WDLPS in the training (AUC, 0.981; accuracy, 0.933) and external validation group (AUC, 0.861; accuracy, 0.810). The DeLong test revealed the DLRN was noticeably better than clinico-radiological and RS models (training: 0.981 vs. 0.890 vs. 0.751; validation: 0.861 vs. 0.724 vs. 0.700; both P < 0.05); however, no discernible difference in performance was seen between the DLRN and DLRS (training: 0.981 vs. 0.969; validation: 0.861 vs. 0.837; both P > 0.05). The calibration curve analysis and DCA demonstrated that the nomogram exhibited good calibration and offered substantial clinical advantages. CONCLUSION: The DLRN exhibited strong predictive capability in predicting WDLPS and retroperitoneal lipomas preoperatively, making it a promising imaging biomarker that can facilitate personalized management and precision medicine.

Plant intracellular nucleotide-binding and leucine-rich repeat immune receptors (NLRs) play a key role in activating a strong pathogen defense response. Plant NLR proteins are tightly regulated and accumulate at very low levels in the absence of pathogen effectors. However, little is known about how this low level of NLR proteins is able to induce robust immune responses upon recognition of pathogen effectors. Here, we report that, in the absence of effector, the inactive form of the tomato NLR Sw-5b is targeted for ubiquitination by the E3 ligase SBP1. Interaction of SBP1 with Sw-5b via only its N-terminal domain leads to slow turnover. In contrast, in its auto-active state, Sw-5b is rapidly turned over as SBP1 is upregulated and interacts with both its N-terminal and NB-LRR domains. During infection with the tomato spotted wilt virus, the viral effector NSm interacts with Sw-5b and disrupts the interaction of Sw-5b with SBP1, thereby stabilizing the active Sw-5b and allowing it to induce a robust immune response.

AIM: This study explores the efficacy of electroacupuncture (EA) in treating cerebral palsy (CP) in Sprague-Dawley (SD) pups, specifically CP animal models, and its molecular mechanisms. METHODS: Gait analysis and Y-maze were used to detect the improvement of motor ability and cognitive function of CP rats after EA treatment. Transcription sequencing was used to determine the key pathway for EA to improve the symptoms of CP. PPAR agonists were used to verify the causal relationship between the pathway and the improvement of CP phenotype. RESULTS: The motor ability and cognitive function of CP pups were improved after EA treatment. The results of transcriptome sequencing suggest that the improvement of CP phenotype may be caused by the activation of PPAR pathway. PPAR pathway is widely activated in the epithelium of CP pups treated with EA, which is verified by qPCR. Rosiglitazone (Ros), a PPAR agonist, can improve CP phenotype while activating PPAR pathway, which proves the causal relationship between PPAR pathway activation and CP phenotype improvement. CONCLUSION: Our study demonstrated behavioral improvements and enhanced cognitive functions in CP models after EA treatment by activating PPAR pathway, suggesting new perspectives for CP rehabilitation, and providing theoretical support for acupuncture treatment of CP.

Purpose: Changes in inflammation, immunity, and nutritional status can promote the development of chronic kidney disease (CKD), and the Naples prognostic score (NPS) reflects changes in these three general clinical parameters. Indoleamine 2.3-dioxygenase (IDO) can block the function of inflammatory cells and inhibit the production of inflammatory cytokines. We examined use of the NPS and IDO activity to predict early-stage CKD. Patients and Methods: Clinical and demographic parameters and the NPS were recorded for 47 CKD patients and 30 healthy controls. A one-way ANOVA or the rank sum test was used to compare variables in the different groups. Spearman or Pearson correlation coefficients were calculated, and logistic regression was used to identify significant factors. Receiver operating characteristic (ROC) analysis was also performed. Results: The NPS had a positive correlation with plasma IDO activity and IDO activity was lowest in controls, and increased with CKD stage. ROC analysis indicated that NPS had an area under the curve (AUC) of 0.779 when comparing controls with all CKD patients. A prediction model for CKD (-4.847 + [1.234 × NPS] + [6.160 × plasma IDO activity]) demonstrated significant differences between controls and patients with early-stage CKD, and for patients with different stages of CKD. This model had AUC values of 0.885 (control vs CKD1-4), 0.876 (control vs CKD2), 0.818 (CKD2 vs CKD3), and 0.758 (CKD3 vs CKD4). Conclusion: A prediction model based on the NPS and IDO provided good to excellent predictions of early-stage CKD.

BACKGROUND: Diabetes mellitus is generally accompanied by dyslipidaemia, but inconsistent relationships between lipid profiles and diabetes are noted. Moreover, genetic variations in insertion/deletion (I/D) polymorphisms at angiotensin-converting enzyme gene (ACE) and T/C polymorphisms in the angiotensin type 1 receptor gene (AGTR1) are related to diabetes and lipid levels, but the associations are controversial. Thus, the current research aimed to explore the effects of ACE I/D, AGTR1 rs5182 and diabetes mellitus on serum lipid profiles in 385 Chinese participants with an average age of 75.01 years. METHODS: The ACE I/D variant was identified using the polymerase chain reaction (PCR) method, whereas the AGTR1 rs5182 polymorphism was identified using the PCR-based restriction fragment length polymorphism (PCR-RFLP) method and verified with DNA sequencing. Total cholesterol (TC), triglyceride (TG), apolipoprotein A (ApoA), apolipoprotein B (ApoB), high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C) and low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) levels were measured using routine methods, and the lipid ratios were calculated. RESULTS: ACE I/D, but not AGTR1 rs5182, was a predictor of TG/HDL-C for the whole study population. Both ACE I/D and AGTR1 rs5182 were predictors of HDL-C and LDL-C levels in females but not in males. Moreover, in females, diabetes mellitus and ACE I/D were identified as predictors of TG and TG/HDL-C, whereas AGTR1 rs5182 and diabetes mellitus were predictors of TG/HDL-C. Moreover, diabetes mellitus and the combination of ACE I/D and AGTR1 rs5182 variations were predictors of TG and TG/HDL-C exclusively in females. CONCLUSIONS: The results demonstrated the potential for gender-dependent interactions of ACE I/D, AGTR1 rs5182, and diabetes on lipid profiles. These findings may serve as an additional explanation for the inconsistent changes of blood lipids in individuals with diabetes mellitus, thereby offering a novel perspective for the clinical management of blood lipid levels in diabetic patients.

Oxathiapiprolin (OXA), which targets the oxysterol-binding protein (OSBP), is an outstanding piperidinyl thiazole isoxazoline (PTI) fungicide that can be used to control oomycetes diseases. In this study, starting from the structure of OXA, a series of novel OSBP inhibitors were designed and synthesized by introducing an indole moiety to replace the pyrazole in OXA. Finally, compound b24 was found to exhibit the highest control effect (82%) against cucumber downy mildew (CDM) in the greenhouse at a very low dosage of 0.069 mg/L, which was comparable to that of OXA (88%). Furthermore, it showed better activity against potato late blight (PLB) than other derivatives of indole. The computational results showed that the R-conformation of b24 should be the dominant conformation binding to PcOSBP. The results of the present work indicate that the 3-fluorine-indole ring is a favorable fragment to increasing the electronic energy when binding with PcOSBP. Furthermore, compound b24 could be used as a lead compound for the discovery of new OSBP inhibitors.

One-dimensional transition metal dichalcogenides exhibiting an enhanced bulk photovoltaic effect have the potential to exceed the Shockley-Queisser limit efficiency in solar energy harvest within p-n junction architectures. However, the collective output of these prototype devices remains a challenge. We report on the synthesis of single-crystalline WS2 ribbon arrays with defined chirality and coherent polarity through an atomic manufacturing strategy. The chirality of WS2 ribbon was defined by substrate couplings into tunable armchair, zigzag, and chiral species, and the polarity direction was determined by the ribbon-precursor interfacial energy along a coherent direction. A single armchair ribbon showed strong bulk photovoltaic effect and the further integration of ~1000 aligned ribbons with coherent polarity enabled upscaling of the photocurrent.

Nanomaterials with a large chiroptical response and high structural stability are desirable for advanced miniaturized optical and optoelectronic applications. One-dimensional (1D) nanotubes are robust crystals with inherent and continuously tunable chiral geometries. However, their chiroptical response is typically weak and hard to control, due to the diverse structures of the coaxial tubes. Here we demonstrate that as-grown multiwalled boron nitride nanotubes (BNNTs), featuring coherent-stacking structures including near monochirality, homo-handedness and unipolarity among the component tubes, exhibit a scalable nonlinear chiroptical response. This intrinsic architecture produces a strong nonlinear optical response in individual multiwalled BNNTs, enabling second-harmonic generation (SHG) with a conversion efficiency up to 0.01% and output power at the microwatt level-both excellent figures of merit in the 1D nanomaterials family. We further show that the rich chirality of the nanotubes introduces a controllable nonlinear geometric phase, producing a chirality-dependent SHG circular dichroism with values of -0.7 to +0.7. We envision that our 1D chiral platform will enable novel functions in compact nonlinear light sources and modulators.

Background: Tuberculous meningitis (TBM) is the most severe form of tuberculosis (TB) and can be difficult to diagnose and treat. We aimed to describe the clinical presentation, diagnosis, disease spectrum, outcome, and prognostic factors of patients treated for TBM in China. Methods: A multicenter retrospective study was conducted from 2009 to 2019 enrolling all presumptive TBM patients referred to Xijing tertiary Hospital from 27 referral centers in and around Shaanxi province, China. Patients with clinical features suggestive of TBM (abnormal CSF parameters) were included in the study if they had adequate baseline information to be classified as "confirmed," "probable," or "possible" TBM according to international consensus TBM criteria and remained in follow-up. Patients with a confirmed alternative diagnosis or severe immune compromise were excluded. Clinical presentation, central nervous system imaging, cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) results, TBM score, and outcome-assessed using the modified Barthel disability index-were recorded and compared. Findings: A total of 341 presumptive TBM patients met selection criteria; 63 confirmed TBM (25 culture positive, 42 Xpert-MTB/RIF positive), 66 probable TBM, 163 possible TBM, and 49 "not TBM." Death was associated with BMRC grade III (OR = 5.172; 95%CI: 2.298-11.641), TBM score ≥ 15 (OR = 3.843; 95%CI: 1.372-10.761), age > 60 years (OR = 3.566; 95%CI: 1.022-12.442), and CSF neutrophil ratio ≥ 25% (OR = 2.298; 95%CI: 1.027-5.139). Among those with confirmed TBM, nearly one-third (17/63, 27.0%) had a TBM score < 12; these patients exhibited less classic meningitis symptoms and signs and had better outcomes compared with those with a TBM score ≥ 12. In this group, signs of disseminated/miliary TB (OR = 12.427; 95%CI: 1.138-135.758) and a higher TBM score (≥15, OR = 8.437; 95%CI: 1.328-53.585) were most strongly associated with death. Conclusion: TBM patients who are older (>60 years) have higher TBM scores or CSF neutrophil ratios, have signs of disseminated/miliary TB, and are at greatest risk of death. In general, more effort needs to be done to improve early diagnosis and treatment outcome in TBM patients.

Approaching the long-time dynamics of non-Markovian open quantum systems presents a challenging task if the bath is strongly coupled. Recent proposals address this problem through a representation of the so-called process tensor in terms of a tensor network. We show that for Gaussian environments highly efficient contraction to a matrix product operator (MPO) form can be achieved with infinite MPO evolution methods, leading to significant computational speed-up over existing proposals. The result structurally resembles open system evolution with carefully designed auxiliary degrees of freedom, as in hierarchical or pseudomode methods. Here, however, these degrees of freedom are generated automatically by the MPO evolution algorithm. Moreover, the semigroup form of the resulting propagator enables us to explore steady-state physics, such as phase transitions.

Interlayer twist evokes revolutionary changes to the optical and electronic properties of twisted bilayer graphene (TBG) for electronics, photonics and optoelectronics. Although the ground state responses in TBG have been vastly and clearly studied, the dynamic process of its photoexcited carrier states mainly remains elusive. Here, we unveil the photoexcited hot carrier dynamics in TBG by time-resolved ultrafast photoluminescence (PL) autocorrelation spectroscopy. We demonstrate the unconventional ultrafast PL emission between the van Hove singularities (VHSs) with a ∼4 times prolonged relaxation lifetime. This intriguing photoexcited carrier behavior is ascribed to the abnormal hot carrier thermalization brought by bottleneck effects at VHSs and interlayer charge distribution process. Our study on hot carrier dynamics in TBG offers new insights into the excited states and correlated physics of graphene twistronics systems.

In arthropods, the involvement of Dscam (Down syndrome cell adhesion molecule) in innate immunity has been extensively demonstrated. Its cytoplasmic tail contains multiple conserved functional sites, which indicates its involvement in different intracellular signaling pathways. In this study, we focused on the role of the cytoplasmic tail of Dscam in the Chinese mitten crab (Eriocheir sinensis) immune defense. In the group with cytoplasmic tail knockdown (the site was located on constant exons 37 and 38), 3885 differentially expressed genes (DEGs) were identified. The DEGs were enriched in small molecule binding, protein-containing complex binding, and immunity-related pathways. The expression of selected genes were validated using quantitative real-time reverse transcription PCR. We identified key Cell cycle, Janus kinase (JAK)-signal transducer, activator of transcription (STAT) and mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) signaling pathway genes, the results indicated that the cytoplasmic tail of Dscam controls antibacterial responses by regulating cell proliferation-related genes in hemocytes.

Insects constitute the largest proportion of animals on Earth and act as significant reservoirs and vectors in disease transmission. Rice thrips (Haplothrips aculeatus, family Phlaeothripidae) are one of the most common pests in agriculture. In this study, the full genome sequence of a novel Ollusvirus, provisionally named "Rice thrips ollusvirus 1" (RTOV1), was elucidated using transcriptome sequencing and the rapid amplification of cDNA ends (RACE). A homology search and phylogenetic tree analysis revealed that the newly identified virus is a member of the family Aliusviridae (order Jingchuvirales). The genome of RTOV1 contains four predicted open reading frames (ORFs), including a polymerase protein (L, 7590 nt), a glycoprotein (G, 4206 nt), a nucleocapsid protein (N, 2415 nt) and a small protein of unknown function (291 nt). All of the ORFs are encoded by the complementary genome, suggesting that the virus is a negative-stranded RNA virus. Phylogenetic analysis using polymerase sequences suggested that RTOV1 was closely related to ollusvirus 1. Deep small RNA sequencing analysis reveals a significant accumulation of small RNAs derived from RTOV1, indicating that the virus replicated in the insect. According to our understanding, this is the first report of an Ollusvirus identified in a member of the insect family Phlaeothripidae. The characterisation and discovery of RTOV1 is a significant contribution to the understanding of Ollusvirus diversity in insects.

CONTEXT.­: Langerhans cell histiocytosis (LCH) is a rare myeloid neoplasm that predominantly affects young children. OBJECTIVE.­: To investigate genetic alterations and their correlation with clinical characteristics and prognosis in pediatric LCH. DESIGN.­: We performed targeted sequencing to detect mutations in LCH lesions from pediatric patients. RESULTS.­: A total of 30 genomic alterations in 5 genes of the MAPK pathway were identified in 187 of 223 patients (83.9%). BRAF V600E (B-Raf proto-oncogene, serine/threonine kinase) was the most common mutation (51.6%), followed by MAP2K1 (mitogen-activated protein kinase kinase 1) alterations (17.0%) and other BRAF mutations (13.0%). ARAF (A-Raf proto-oncogene, serine/threonine kinase) and KRAS (KRAS proto-oncogene, GTPase) mutations were relatively rare (2.2% and 0.9%, respectively). Additionally, FNBP1 (formin-binding protein 1)::BRAF fusion and MAP3K10 (mitogen-activated protein kinase kinase 10) mutations A17T and R823C were identified in 1 case each, with possible constitutive activation of ERK1/2 phosphorylation. BRAF V600E was more frequent in patients with risk organ involvement, while MAP2K1 mutation was more prevalent in patients with single-system LCH (P = .001). BRAF V600E was associated with craniofacial bone, skin, liver, spleen, and ear involvement (all P < .05). Patients with other BRAF mutations had a higher proportion of spinal column involvement (P = .006). Univariate analysis showed a significant difference in progression-free survival among the 4 molecular subgroups for patients treated with first-line therapy (P = .02). According to multivariate analysis, risk organ involvement was the strongest independent adverse prognostic factor (hazard ratio, 8.854; P < .001); BRAF or MAP2K1 mutation was not an independent prognostic factor. CONCLUSIONS.­: Most pediatric patients with LCH carry somatic mutations involving the MAPK pathway, correlating with clinical characteristics and outcomes for first-line chemotherapy.

Within the family of two-dimensional dielectrics, rhombohedral boron nitride (rBN) is considerably promising owing to having not only the superior properties of hexagonal boron nitride1-4-including low permittivity and dissipation, strong electrical insulation, good chemical stability, high thermal conductivity and atomic flatness without dangling bonds-but also useful optical nonlinearity and interfacial ferroelectricity originating from the broken in-plane and out-of-plane centrosymmetry5-23. However, the preparation of large-sized single-crystal rBN layers remains a challenge24-26, owing to the requisite unprecedented growth controls to coordinate the lattice orientation of each layer and the sliding vector of every interface. Here we report a facile methodology using bevel-edge epitaxy to prepare centimetre-sized single-crystal rBN layers with exact interlayer ABC stacking on a vicinal nickel surface. We realized successful accurate fabrication over a single-crystal nickel substrate with bunched step edges of the terrace facet (100) at the bevel facet (110), which simultaneously guided the consistent boron-nitrogen bond orientation in each BN layer and the rhombohedral stacking of BN layers via nucleation near each bevel facet. The pure rhombohedral phase of the as-grown BN layers was verified, and consequently showed robust, homogeneous and switchable ferroelectricity with a high Curie temperature. Our work provides an effective route for accurate stacking-controlled growth of single-crystal two-dimensional layers and presents a foundation for applicable multifunctional devices based on stacked two-dimensional materials.

Langerhans cell histiocytosis (LCH) is a rare hematologic neoplasm characterized by the clonal proliferation of Langerhans-like cells. Colony-stimulating factor 1 receptor (CSF1R) is a membrane-bound receptor that is highly expressed in LCH cells and tumor-associated macrophages. In this study, a soluble form of CSF1R protein (sCSF1R) was identified by plasma proteome profiling, and its role in evaluating LCH prognosis was explored. We prospectively measured plasma sCSF1R levels in 104 LCH patients and 10 healthy children using ELISA. Plasma sCSF1R levels were greater in LCH patients than in healthy controls (p < .001) and significantly differed among the three disease extents, with the highest level in MS RO+ LCH patients (p < .001). Accordingly, immunofluorescence showed the highest level of membrane-bound CSF1R in MS RO+ patients. Furthermore, the plasma sCSF1R concentration at diagnosis could efficiently predict the prognosis of LCH patients treated with standard first-line treatment (AUC = 0.782, p < .001). Notably, dynamic monitoring of sCSF1R levels could predict relapse early in patients receiving BRAF inhibitor treatment. In vitro drug sensitivity data showed that sCSF1R increased resistance to Ara-C in THP-1 cells expressing ectopic BRAF-V600E. Overall, the plasma sCSF1R level at diagnosis and during follow-up is of great clinical importance in pediatric LCH patients.

Sonodynamic therapy (SDT) has emerged as a useful approach for tumor treatment. However, its widespread application is impeded by poor pharmacokinetics of existing sonosensitizers. Here we developed a metal-organic nanoplatform, wherein a small-molecule sonosensitizer (hematoporphyrin monomethyl ether, HMME) was ingeniously coordinated with zirconium, resulting in a multifunctional nanosonosensitizer termed Zr-HMME. Through post-synthetic modifications involving PEGylation and tumor-targeting peptide (F3) linkage, a nanoplatform capable of homing on melanoma was produced, which could elicit robust immune responses to suppress tumor lung metastasis in the host organism. Importantly, after seamless incorporation of positron-emitting 89Zr into this nanosonosensitizer, positron emission tomography (PET) could be used to monitor its in vivo pharmacokinetics. PET imaging studies revealed that this nanoplatform exhibited potent tumor accumulation and strong in vivo stability. Using intrinsic fluorescence from HMME, a dual-modal diagnostic capability (fluorescence and PET) was confirmed for this nanosonosensitizer. In addition, the mechanisms of how this nanoplatform interacted with immune system were also investigated. The collective data proved that the coordination structure between small-molecule drug cargos and metals may enhance the functions of each other while mitigating their weaknesses. This straightforward approach can expand the potential applications of suitable drug molecules.
