RESUMO

V3O7·H2O (VO) stands out as a highly promising cathode material for aqueous zinc-ion batteries (AZIB). However, due to the instability of the VO structure and the limited ion transport rate, achieving the required specific capacity and extended cycling lifespan has been challenging. To tackle this issue, we synthesized Mg-ion intercalated VO (MgVO) using a straightforward hydrothermal method. Introducing Mg2+ as an interlayer support enhanced the flexibility of MgVO within the confined layer space, stabilized its lamellar structure, and expanded the VO layer spacing. The AZIB employing the MgVO cathode demonstrated a high specific capacity of 382.7 mA h g-1 at a current density of 0.1 A g-1 and showed excellent cycling stability. The robust structural stability of MgVO suggests promising applications for large-scale energy storage, while the Mg2+ intercalation strategy presents a novel approach for exploring other potential cathode materials.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: This study aims to explore the multiple mediating roles of illness acceptance and symptom severity between health locus of control and symptom distress in acute leukemia patients. METHODS: From June 2022 to March 2023, a convenience sampling method was used to recruit 208 acute leukemia patients in the inpatient center of a hospital in Hebei. The Chinese versions of Multidimensional Health Locus of Control Scale, Illness Acceptance Scale, and Anderson Symptom Assessment Scale was used in the cross-sectional study. RESULTS: All participants reported the presence of symptom distress. Symptom distress was significantly correlated with chance health locus of control, illness acceptance, and symptom severity (P<0.05). Illness acceptance alone played a mediating role in the relationship between chance health locus of control and symptom distress in acute leukemia patients (ß=0.087, 95%CI 0.030-0.167). The indirect role of chance health locus of control on symptom distress through symptom severity alone was also statistically significant (ß=0.131, 95%CI 0.008-0.252). Furthermore, the multiple mediating role of chance health locus of control and symptom distress through illness acceptance and symptom severity combined was verified (ß=0.027, 95%CI 0.001-0.089). The alternative model is also valid, indicating bidirectional relationships between symptom severity, illness acceptance, and chance health locus of control, collectively influencing symptom distress. CONCLUSION: There is a positive relationship between chance health locus of control and symptom distress; additionally, increasing social psychological interventions for illness acceptance and strengthening the management of core symptoms will help alleviate the impact of health chance locus of control on symptom distress in acute leukemia patients. Longitudinal studies are needed to confirm the causal relationships among the variables explored within the model. IMPACT ON NURSING PRACTICE: It is recommended that healthcare professionals pay attention to the assessment of health locus of control in patients, identify patients with health chance locus of control in a timely manner, take measures to enhance their disease acceptance, and strengthen the management of core symptoms, thereby reducing their level of symptom distress.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND/AIMS: Intraoperative blood loss more than 400 mL during gastrointestinal surgery is an independent predictor of mortality. Desmopressin acetate (DDAVP) could reduce perioperative blood loss. Few studies have prompted concerning the effects of DDAVP on gastrointestinal surgery. This study was to investigate whether DDAVP can decrease blood loss in patients with massive hemorrhage undergoing gastrointestinal surgery. MATERIALS AND METHODS: A multiple-centers, double-blind clinical trial was conducted, patients who underwent gastrointestinal surgery were recruited from 3 hospitals, randomly assigned to two different groups. Patients in the treatment group received desmopressin 0.3 ug/kg,30 min once a day after surgery, patients in the control group received 50 ml saline for 30 min. The primary outcome was the changes of hemoglobin at 24 hours after the surgery. And the secondary outcomes included coagulation function, urine volume, serum creatinine, and safety. RESULTS: There were 59 patients enrolled between 1 June 2015 and 1 June 2017. At 24hr.after surgery, a decrease in hemoglobin in the DDAVP group was significantly lower than that in the NS group (-5.0±6.9 g/L vs. -10.2±9.3g/L, p=0.03). Sonoclot® showed that the platelet function in the DDAVP group was higher than that in NS group at 24 hr. (2.56 ±0.59 vs. 1.91 ±0.72, p<0.05). There was no difference in urine volume and serum creatinine at 24 hr. between two group. CONCLUSION: DDAVP could reduce post-operation blood loss in patients with massive hemorrhage undergoing surgery by improving the platelet function. We observed no difference in urine volume and serum creatinine in two groups.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVES: The prostate cancer gene 3 (PCA3), human kallikrein 2, and miRNA-141 are promising prostate cancer (Pca) specific biomarkers. Our aim was to evaluate the detection of PCA3, human glandular kallikrein 2 (hk2), and miRNA-141 mRNA in peripheral blood of patients received prostate biopsy. What's more, we want to detect the value of combination of PSA (prostate specific antigen) in the early diagnosis of PCa. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Hundred patients were divided into 2 groups according to the results of pathologic diagnosis. Quantitative real-time PCR (qRT-PCR) was used to evaluate the mRNA of PCA3, hk2, and miRNA-141 in peripheral blood. At the same time, analyze those clinical outcomes used in the patients. We compared these different outcomes to evaluate the value of new molecular markers. RESULTS: The level of mRNA of PCA3, hK2, and miR-141 in Pca group were significantly higher than that in BPH. PSA had the highest sensitivity in predicting Pca diagnosis (76.7%); PCA3 had the highest specificity (82.5%). And the combination of PCA3, PSA, and hK2 improved area under the curve (AUC)-receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve largely, especially those with PSA 4-10ng/mL. CONCLUSIONS: PCA3, hK2, and miRNA-141 were biomarkers of Pca with potential clinical application value, especially in patients with PSA gray area. Combining PCA3, PSA, and hK2 performed better than individual biomarkers alone in predicting Pca.

RESUMO

This meta-analysis aimed to evaluate the correlation between pesticide exposure and kidney cancer. We conducted a systematic search of the Cochrane Library, Embase, Web of Knowledge, and Medline (updated to March 1, 2015) to identify all relevant studies. References of the retrieved articles were also identified. Fixed- or random-effect models were used to summarize the estimates of relative risk (RR) with 95% confidence interval for the association between exposure of pesticide and risk of kidney cancer. The pooled RR estimate indicated that pesticide exposure might have an elevated risk for kidney cancer (RR =1.10, 95% confidence interval 1.01-1.19). In a subgroup analysis of high quality articles, we detected that pesticide exposure is a significant risk factor for kidney cancer in a subgroup analysis of case-control studies, (Newcastle-Ottawa Quality Assessment Scale score >6) (RR =1.31, 95% confidence interval 1.12-1.51). North America studies, odds ratio studies, and studies with effect estimate adjusted for more than two confounder studies. In conclusion, pesticide exposure may be a risk factor for kidney cancer.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: To investigate the mechanism by which recombinant adenovirus (Ad)-mediated mutations of hypoxia inducible factor 1alpha (Ad-HIF-1alpha-Ala564-Ala803) regulates cell apoptosis. METHODS: LoVo cells were infected with recombinant Ad-HIF-1alpha-Ala564-Ala803 and control virus Ad-lacZ under normoxia condition. Real-time PCR was used to detect HIF-1alpha and p21WAF1/CIP1 mRNA expressions at different time points. Western blotting was employed to verify HIF-1alpha and p21WAF1/CIP1 protein expression. Hoechst 33342 flourescein staining was performed to observe the ratio of apoptotic LoVo cells. RESULTS: The expression levels of HIF-1alpha mRNA and protein increased after infection with Ad-HIF-1alpha- Ala564-Ala803, accompanied by an increase in p21WAF1/CIP1 mRNA and protein expressions. The apoptotic ratio was significantly higher in LoVo cells infected with recombinant Ad-HIF-1alpha-Ala564-Ala803 (16.2%) than in the control cells (5.5%, P=0.00). CONCLUSION: HIF-1alpha may induce cell cycle arrest by up-regulating p21WAF1/CIP1 expressions to promote LoVo cell apoptosis.
