RESUMO

Thirty-one boys and 31 girls aged 10 to 15 years suffering from diabetes mellitus were examined under out- and inpatient conditions. The "internal disease picture" in children afflicted with diabetes mellitus is a complex system depending on the age, sex, the disease standing and gravity, family characteristics and other factors. It changes over time according to the above factors.

RESUMO

Clinical and electroencephalographic examinations of 182 children with neurodermatitis have revealed paroxysmal neuropsychic disturbances, differing from the psychopathologic disorders, in 16. These disturbances, that may be described as the night fears syndrome, may be cured by long treatment including anticonvulsive therapy. This permits a conclusion that neurodermatitis in children is associated with deep organic involvement of the brain.

RESUMO

The results of examination of 213 children with neurodermatitis and psoriasis (157 and 56 patients respectively) have led the authors to conclude that borderline psychopathologic symptomatology in patients with neurodermatitis shows greater polymorphism as compared to psoriasis patients. The form, severity and time-course of borderline psychic disorders were presented by asthenic obsessive phobic, subdepressive and hysterical symptomatology and the syndrome of malbehaviour in the neurodermatitis patients and astheno-subdepressive symptomatology in those with psoriasis.

RESUMO

Infectious psychoses were studied clinically in 60 children divided into three age groups: 3-7 years, 7-12 years and 12-17 years. Acute respiratory diseases, influenza, tonsillitis, otitis were the etiologic factors of psychoses. Short-term delirium states characterized by visual and tactile hallucinations prevailed in the first group. Affective-asthenic syndromes prevailed in the second group children. Their psychoses were characterized by both visual and acoustic illusions. Protracted or periodical disorders of the consciousness including psychosensory, senestopathic and depersonalization ones prevailed in the third group.

RESUMO

Sixty patients with a prehypertonic condition (aged 7 to 13 years) were studied to assess their clinical-psychological characteristics as well as microsocial psychogenic factors involved. It was established that in 80% of the families studied, despite their apparent "normality and respectability", there were some adverse familial relations which exerted both pathoplastic and pathogenetic influence on the formation of vegetative-vascular dystonia of a hypertonic type. The degree and the range of attending psychosomatic disturbances depend on the severity of the conflict and on the nature (acute or chronic) of a psychotrauma as well as on the child's awareness of the problem. It is important that the elicited characteristics of the concrete mechanisms of the development of psychic traumas should be considered in devising psychotherapeutic method of the prophylaxis and treatment of these patients.

RESUMO

On the basis of a study of 1000 hyperactive children the authors clarify the limits in the understanding of hyperactivity and distinguish the following variants: emotional, behavioral and intellectual irregularity. The secondary neurotic symptoms are considered as a structural component of hyperactivity. As one of the mechanisms the correlation of excitability and inhibition is discussed. Data on complex pathogenetical treatment and rehabilitation are given.

RESUMO

In comparison to normal children of the same age, in oligophrenic children there were qualitatively special structures of the intellectual mnestic functions, attention, auditory and visual perception, higher emotions and brain bioelectric activity. These data have an importance for the diagnosis and elaboration of standarized indices of oligophrenic patients in preschool age.

RESUMO

Representative case histories are presented to illustrate the typical clinical features of autistic psychopathy. These patients showed several clinical features compatible with organic encephalopathy. Physical signs suggesting the presence of an underlying cerebral dysgenesis were particularly frequent. These patients superficially resembled schizophrenics but differed in their delayed and peculiar intellectual development, the response of their behavior to external stimuli, and their frequent and severe motoric defects. From these observations and a review of the pertinent literature, we conclude that the patients described in this report have an organic deficiency of brain function, determined congenitally or in the early postnatal period.
