RESUMO
A total of 254 Kievites of both sexes 19 to 35 years old were examined over 1987-1990. Revealed in the above population were alterations of the functional state of the liver characterizing the amino acid, lipid, and nucleotide metabolisms and suggesting impaired permeability of hepatocytic membranes, inadequate energy security of hepatic cells, and indicating the intrahepatic circulation state and bodily immune reactivity.

It was established that liver failure is associated with significant disorders of the protein and lipid metabolism: marked increase of liver fat, increase of urea nitrogen, reduction of total protein. The blood shows a reduction of total lipids, cholesterol, phospholipids, triglycerides, total protein and albumin; the gammaglobulin level, rest nitrogen and urea nitrogen increase. Parenteral administration of nitrous drugs against the background of protein hunger does not deteriorate changes in the animal livers, furthers correction of the abnormal metabolism.

It was established that liver insufficiency the activity of hepatic glutamate dehydrogenase is markedly reduced that is, apparently, the main cause of hyperammonemia that accompanies hepatic encephalopathy. Here occurs a significant reduction of the processes of ammonia detoxication with formation of glutamine in the liver as evidenced by changes of the activity of glutamine synthetase. Administration parenterally of a preparation of nitrous feeding increases essentially ammonia detoxicating function of muscular tissue which supplements the detoxicating function of the liver.

Experiments conducted on albino Wistar male rats showed that endogenous nitrogen reutilization can be intensified by parenteral administration of regulatory amino acids methionine and threonine and their mixture in doses of 100-200 mg/kg in short-term protein deprivation. The data obtained may be used in clinical practice to reduce nitrogen excretion from the patient's organism with the patient deprived of food in the early postoperative period.
