RESUMO

We studied the effect of systemic transplantation of human stem cells from various tissues on cognitive functions of the brain in rats during the delayed period after experimental brain injury. Stem cells were shown to increase the efficacy of medical treatment with metabolic and symptomatic drugs for recovery of cognitive functions. They accelerated the formation of the conditioned defense response. Fetal neural stem cells had a stronger effect on some parameters of cognitive function 2 months after brain injury. The efficacy of bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells from adult humans or fetuses was higher 3 months after brain injury.

RESUMO

In the paper an attempt was made to determine the optimum single therapeutic dose (otD1( in radiation treatment of 600 patients with laryngeal cancer. It is suggested to take the latter as a standard for adequate dosage in planning fractionation radiotherapy and to use it for calculating the optimum total therapeutic dose (otDt). Both the optimum single therapeutic dose and total dosage equivalent to it may provide for better chances of patients' cure. The analysis indicated that in laryngeal cancer of stage T1--2N0M0 the optimum equivalent single therapeutic dose is mostly likely to be 2700 +/- 60,0 rad while in stage T2N0M0--2850 +/- 50,0 rad.
