RESUMO

Ultrawide bandgap semiconductor ß-Ga2O3 (4.9 eV), with its monoclinic crystal structure, exhibits distinct anisotropic characteristics both optically and electrically, making it an ideal material for solar-blind polarization photodetectors. In this work, ß-Ga2O3 epitaxial films were deposited on sapphire substrates with different orientations, and the mechanisms underlying the anisotropy of these epitaxial films were investigated. Compared to c-plane sapphire, the lattice mismatch between m- or r-plane sapphire and ß-Ga2O3 is more pronounced, disrupting the rotational symmetry of the films and rendering them anisotropic. Thanks to the improved anisotropy, the polarization ratio of the photodetector based on ß-Ga2O3 films grown on r-plane substrates is 0.24, nearly ten times higher than that on c-plane substrates. Finally, by utilizing these polarization-sensitive photodetectors, we developed an encrypted solar-blind ultraviolet optical communication system. Our work provides a new approach to facilitate the fabrication and application of high-performance polarization-sensitive solar-blind photodetectors.

RESUMO

Background: While hemangiomas are the most commonly occurring benign vascular tumors, their occurrence in the gastrointestinal system is rare. This case report presents a unique instance of small intestinal hemangioma in a pediatric patient. Case description: A 21-month-old girl was admitted to the hospital with a history of "recurrent blood in the stool for one year and anemia for five months." Upon evaluation at our facility, abdominal color ultrasound and enhanced CT scans revealed a protruding mass in the wall of the small intestine, leading to a preliminary diagnosis of small intestinal hemangioma. Subsequent single-site umbilical laparoscopic exploration identified a tumor measuring approximately 6cm×2.5cm×1.2cm on the jejunum wall. Consequently, segmental resection of the intestine was performed, and the postoperative pathological diagnosis confirmed cavernous hemangioma. Conclusion: Small intestinal hemangiomas, particularly in pediatric patients, are exceptionally rare and challenging to diagnose as the cause of gastrointestinal bleeding prior to surgery. Hence, small intestinal hemangiomas should be considered in such cases. Laparoscopic surgical resection emerges as the optimal approach for addressing small intestinal hemangiomas.

RESUMO

The objectives of this study are to investigate the effect of miR-30e targeting GLIPR-2 on the pathological mechanism of DN. The renal tissues of db/db and db/m mice at different age of weeks were stained with PAS. qRT-PCR was applied to detect the expression of miR-30e and GLIPR-2, not only in the renal tissues of mice but also in the renal tubular epithelial cells (RTECs). By luciferase reporter gene assays, we found the 3'-UTR of the GLIPR-2 mRNA as a direct target of miR-30e. The RTECs cultured in high glucose were divided into blank control, NC, miR-30e mimics, miR-30e inhibitors, miR-30e inhibitor + si-GLIPR-2 and si-GLIPR-2 groups. MTT and flow cytometry were utilized to measure the proliferation and apoptosis of RTECs, while qRT-PCR and Western blot to detect the expression of GLIPR-2- and EMT-related factors. The following results were obtained: In the renal tissues of over 8-week-old db/db mice and the RTECs cultured for 6 h in high glucose, miR-30e was downexpressed while GLIPR-2 was upregulated in a time-dependent manner. Besides, overexpression of miR-30e and si-GLIPR-2 can not only greatly improve the proliferation of RTECs cultured in high glucose, but also downregulate the apoptosis rate of RTECs and the expressions of GLIPR-2, vimentin, α-SMA, Col-I and FN and upregulate E-cadherin. Moreover, si-GLIPR-2 can reverse the proliferation reduction, GLIPR-2 and EMT occurrence caused by the downexpression of miR-30e in RTECs. In conclusion, miR-30e is downregulated in DN, and the overexpression of miR-30e can inhibit GLIPR-2, promote the proliferation of RTECs and inhibit EMT, ultimately avoid leading to renal fibrosis in DN.

RESUMO

AIM: To investigate the functional mechanism of CIK cells or ovarian carcinoma cell lines SKOV3/CDDP. METHODS: The changes of ultramicrostructure, cell cycle, apoptosis, expression of multidrug resistance-associated protein (MDR1, Topo-IIbeta) and other molecules (hB7-1, hB7-2, MHCIb, HLA-DR) of SKOV3/CDDP cells treated with or without CIK cells were detected by electron microscope, MTT and FCM. The changes of cytokine (IL-2, TNF-alpha, IFN-gamma, GM-CSF) in sera of SCID mice bearing SKOV3/CDDP cells were detected by radioimmunit and ELISA. RESULTS: CIK cells could induce apoptosis of the SKOV3/CDDP cells by electronmicroscopic observations. The apoptosis rate in CIK group was 9.07%, and its cell cycle was arrested at S and G2/M phase (P<0.05). Compared with NS Group, the co-expression of MDR-1 and Topo-IIbeta were decreased significantly in the CIK treated group(P<0.05), and the expression of MHCIb, HLA-DR, hB7-1 and hB7-2 antigen were increased significantly (P<0.01). Compared with NS Group, the contents of IL-2, TNF-alpha, INF-gamma, GM-CSF were increased significantly (P<0.01) in SCID mice of CIK group. CONCLUSION: CIK cells have several important biological effects on the ovarian carcinoma cell line SKOV3/CDDP, which may lay the foundation for further research on anti-tumor therapy.
