RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: This study aims to assess the clinical effectiveness of combining mindfulness-based stress reduction (MBSR) with exercise intervention in improving anxiety, depression, sleep quality and mood regulation in patients with non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). METHODS: A total of 60 patients with NSCLC who had not received surgical treatment were selected using convenience sampling and divided into an intervention group and control group, with 30 patients in each group. The control group received conventional psychological nursing care, whereas the intervention group received a combination of MBwSR and exercise therapy. Before the intervention, a questionnaire was completed to collect the basic data of the two groups. Further questionnaires were administered at 6 and 8 weeks after treatment to assess anxiety, depression, sleep quality and other items included in the five-item Brief Symptom Rating Scale (BSRS-5). RESULTS: No significant differences between the intervention and control groups were identified in terms of personal and clinical characteristics (p > 0.05). No significant differences were determined in the BSRS-5, Self-Rating Anxiety Scale (SAS), Self-Rating Depression Scale (SDS) or Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) scores between the intervention and control groups before the intervention. However, 6 and 8 weeks after the intervention, scores were significantly lower in both groups (p < 0.001). Significant differences in the BSRS-5, SAS, SDS and PSQI scores were identified between the two groups at different time points (p < 0.001). CONCLUSION: The combination of MBSR and exercise intervention demonstrated improvements in anxiety, depression, sleep quality and BSRS-5 scores in patients with NSCLC.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: To analyze the prognostic value of del(1p32) in patients with newly diagnosed multiple myeloma (MM). METHODS: The clinical data of 341 newly diagnosed MM attended in Jiangsu Province Hospital were retrospective analyzed. Clinical characteristic combined with genetic features, especially del(1p32), were analyzed for survival and prognostic of patients. RESULTS: Among the 341 patients with newly diagnosed MM, 24(7.0%) patients were del(1p32) positive. The progression-free survival (PFS) and overall survival (OS) were significantly shorter in MM patients with del(1p32) than those without del(1p32) (PFS: P < 0.001;OS: P < 0.001). The COX proportional-hazards model showed that del (1p32) was an independent risk factor for PFS and OS of patients with MM. The patients with both 1q21 gain/amplification and del(1p32), as "double-hit chromosome 1", have worse prognosis than those with only 1q21 gain/amplification or only del(1p32) (PFS: P < 0.001; OS: P < 0.001). CONCLUSION: Del(1p32) is an independent risk factor for PFS and OS of patients with MM. Del(1p32) detection should be widely used in the prognostic analysis for newly diagnosed MM patients.

RESUMO

AIM OF THE STUDY: Cardiovascular disease (CVD) seriously endangers human health and is characterized by high mortality and disability. The effectiveness of Dracocephalum moldavica L. in the treatment of CVD has been proven by clinical practice. However, the mechanism by which DML can treat CVD has not been systematically determined. MATERIALS AND METHODS: The active compounds in DML were screened by literature mining and pharmacokinetic analysis. Cytoscape software was used to construct the target-disease interaction network of DML in the treatment of CVD. Gene ontology and signalling pathway enrichment analyses were performed. The key target pathway network of DML compounds was constructed and verified by pharmacological experiments in vitro. A hydrogen glucose deprivation/reoxygenation model was established in H9c2 cells using hypoxia and glucose deprivation for 9 h combined with reoxygenation for 2 h. The model simulated myocardial ischaemic reperfusion injury to investigate the effects of total flavonoids of Cymbidium on cell viability, myocardial injury markers, oxidative stress levels, and reactive oxygen radical levels. Western blot analysis was used to examine NOX-4, Bcl-2/Bax, and PGC-1α protein expression. RESULTS: Twenty-seven active components were screened, and 59 potential drug targets for the treatment of CVD were obtained. Through the compound-target interaction network and the target-disease interaction network, the key targets and key signalling pathways, such as NOX-4, Bcl-2/Bax and PGC-1α, were obtained. TFDM significantly decreased LDH and MDA levels and the production of ROS and increased SOD activity levels in the context of OGD/R injury. Further studies indicated that NOX-4 and Bax protein levels and the p-P38 MAPK/P38 MAPK andp-Erk1/2/Erk1/2 ratios were suppressed by TFDM. The protein expression of Bcl-2 and PGC-1α was increased by TFDM. CONCLUSIONS: Our results showed that DML had multicomponent, multitarget and multichannel characteristics in the treatment of CVD. The mechanism may be associated with the following signalling pathways: 1) the NOX-4/ROS/p38 MAPK signalling pathway, which inhibits inflammation and reactive oxygen species (ROS) production, and 2) the Bcl-2/Bax and AMPK/SIRT1/PGC-1α signalling pathways, which inhibit apoptosis.

RESUMO

CONTEXT: The influences of diabetes duration and glycemic control and their potential interplays on the risk of heart failure (HF) remain unclear. OBJECTIVE: This work aimed to investigate the association of diabetes duration and glycemic control with the risk of HF. METHODS: A total of 23 754 individuals with diabetes but without HF during the baseline recruitment of UK Biobank were included in this study. Duration of diabetes was self-reported, and the status of glycemic control was reflected by glycated hemoglobin A1c (HbA1c) levels. Their associations with incident HF were assessed using multivariate Cox models adjusting for traditional risk factors. RESULTS: Duration of diabetes and HbA1c levels both were positively associated with the risk of HF. The hazard ratios (HRs) (95% CI) for diabetes durations of 5 to less than 10, 10 to less than 15, and 15 years or more were 1.09 (0.97-1.23), 1.13 (0.97-1.30), and 1.32 (1.15-1.53), respectively (vs < 5 years); and the HRs for HbA1c of 53.0 to less than 58.5 mmol/mol (7.0% to < 7.5%), 58.5 to less than 63.9 mmol/mol (7.5% to < 8.0%), and 63.9 mmol/mol or greater (8.0%) were 1.15 (1.02-1.31), 1.07 (0.91-1.26), and 1.46 (1.30-1.65), respectively (vs < 53.0 mmol/mol [7.0%]). Individuals with the longest disease duration (≥ 15 years) and poorer glycemic control (HbA1c ≥ 63.9 mmol/mol [8.0%]) had a particularly higher risk of HF (P for interaction = .026). CONCLUSION: The risk of HF among individuals with diabetes increases with a longer duration of diabetes and increasing HbA1c levels. This finding may contribute to the individualized prevention of HF in patients with diabetes if being considered in clinical practices and policy-making.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Numerous studies have suggested that age at first birth (AFB) is inversely associated with metabolic diseases, but positively associated with liver cancer in women. Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is a canonical example of metabolic dysfunction and inflammation-based liver disease, while the association between AFB and the risk of NAFLD remains unclear. We aimed to investigate the association between AFB and the odds of NAFLD in women. METHODS: Women older than 20 years at the time of the survey were analyzed using National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) data from 1999 to 2018 in the US. AFB was obtained with self-administered questionnaires. NAFLD was diagnosed as fatty liver index (FLI) ≥ 60. Odds ratios (ORs) and 95% confidence intervals (CI) were estimated using logistic regression models. RESULTS: Of the 12,188 women included in this study, 5670 (46.5%) had NAFLD. Compared to individuals with AFB of 30-32 years old (reference group), the fully adjusted ORs and 95% CI in women with AFB < 18, 18-20, 21-23, and 24-26 years were 1.52 (95% CI 1.14, 2.03), 1.60 (95% CI 1.21, 2.11), 1.40 (95% CI 1.06, 1.84), and 1.33 (95% CI 1.01-1.76), respectively. Yet there was no significant difference between AFB of 27-29, 33-35, or > 35 years compared to the reference group. CONCLUSIONS: Women with younger AFB have higher odds of NAFLD in later life. Policymakers should consider focusing on those with earlier AFB for screening and prevention of NAFLD.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: To observe the clinical effect of acupuncture for perimenopausal early-wake insomnia. METHODS: A total of 60 patients with perimenopausal early-wake insomnia were randomly divided into an observation group (30 cases, 3 cases dropped off) and a control group (30 cases, 2 cases dropped off, 2 cases were removed). In the observation group, acupuncture was applied at Baihui (GV 20), Yintang (GV 24+), Anmian (Extra), Hegu (LI 4), Shenmen (HT 7), Taichong (LR 3), Taixi (KI 3), etc., once every other day, 3 times a week. In the control group, oryzanol tablets were taken orally, 20 mg each time, 3 times a day. Both groups were treated for 4 weeks. Before and after treatment, the sleep actigraphy (ACT) was used to measure the effective sleep time, sleep quality, wake-up time, wake-up frequency, each wake-up time, and the Pittsburgh sleep quality index (PSQI) score and early-wake score were compared in the two groups, and the clinical effect was assessed. RESULTS: After treatment, compared before treatment, the effective sleep time was prolonged and the sleep quality was improved (P<0.05), the wake-up time, each wake-up time were shortened and wake-up frequency was decreased (P<0.05), the PSQI score and early-wake score were decreased (P<0.05) in the observation group. After treatment, the wake-up frequency, PSQI score and early-wake score were decreased in the control group (P<0.05). The effective sleep time, sleep quality, wake-up time, wake-up frequency, each wake-up time, PSQI score and early-wake score after treatment in the observation group were superior to the control group (P<0.05). The total effective rate was 88.9% (24/27) in the observation group, which was higher than 38.5% (10/26) in the control group (P<0.05). CONCLUSION: Acupuncture can increase the effective sleep time and improve sleep quality in patients with perimenopausal early-wake insomnia.

RESUMO

SUMMARY: The information technology (IT) based "instant evaluation" is supported by IT, which allows instant evaluation of teaching phenomena based on certain evaluation criteria and provides instant feedback. In anatomy teaching, we explored and practiced the application of instant evaluation based on a platform called "Rain classroom." We found that IT-based instant evaluation had higher practicability and better student satisfaction, which could improve teaching efficiency during class time, help students improve learning methods, and promote knowledge mastery. Additionally, instant evaluation positively impacted teachers' evaluation ability and teaching skills.

In this work, we investigate the low-lying electronic states correlated to the first and the second dissociation channels of MgGa molecule, neglecting and including the spin-orbit coupling effect. High-level ab initio calculations have been performed by using the icMRCI + Q method. Potential energy curves, spectroscopic constants, electron configurations and dipole moments are derived and discussed. Molecular structures of several magnesium-group 13 diatomics have been probed and analyzed. Information associated with transition dipole moments, Franck-Condon factors, vibrational branching ratios and radiative lifetimes between the Ω states are also well characterized. It is anticipated this work will provide some inspiration for further studies on MgGa.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: To observe the effect of ginger-separated moxibustion on fatigue state and intestinal flora in patients with chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS). METHODS: A total of 62 patients with CFS were randomly divided into an observation group (31 cases, 3 cases dropped off) and a control group (31 cases, 2 cases dropped off). The patients in the control group were treated with normal diet and moderate exercise; on the basis of the control group, the patients in the observation group were treated with ginger-separated moxibustion at Zhongwan (CV 12), Shenque (CV 8) and Guanyuan (CV 4), 30 min each time, once every other day, three times a week. Both groups were intervened for 4 weeks. Before and after treatment, the fatigue scale-14 (FS-14) was used to observe the improvement of fatigue state, and 16S rRNA detection technology was used to detect the distribution of intestinal flora. RESULTS: Compared before treatment, the FS-14 score was reduced after treatment in the observation group (P<0.01), and the reduction in the observation group was larger than that in the control group (P<0.01). The relative abundance of intestinal flora was similar between the observation group and control group at the phylum and genus level before treatment. After treatment, there was no significant change of intestinal flora in the control group. However, the enterobacteriaceae, corynebacterium, erysipelothrix, actinomycetes were increased in the observation group (P<0.05), and actinomycetes, ruminococcus, lactarius had obvious flora advantages compared with the control group (P<0.05). CONCLUSION: The ginger-separated moxibustion could significantly improve the fatigue state in CFS patients, which may be related to the regulation of intestinal flora structure and the repair of intestinal barrier.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Several scores were available for predicting atrial fibrillation (AF) recurrence post radiofrequency ablation. However, the role of different scores predicting AF recurrence after ablation in patients with concurrent AF and pulmonary diseases (PDs) remained obscure. Herein, we aimed to investigate their predicting values and differences in patients with concurrent AF and PDs. METHODS: From January 2008 to April 2015, 304 patients with concurrent AF and PDs treated with catheter ablation were divided into 2 groups according to whether they experienced AF recurrence in our centers. Factors related with AF recurrence were explored using Cox regression and scores predicting recurrent AF were compared in these patients using ROC curves. RESULTS: During a median of 6-month of follow-up, factors correlating with late AF recurrence included heart failure (HF) history [hazard ratio (HR): 2.79; 95% confidence interval (CI): 1.49-5.22, P=0.001], current smoking (1.73; 1.13-2.68, P=0.01) and early AF recurrence (3.85; 95% CI: 2.62-5.66, P<0.001) according to univariate Cox regression analysis. When analyzed using multivariate Cox model, HF history (2.21; 1.12-4.37, P=0.02), hypertension history (1.54; 1.02-2.33, P=0.04) and early AF recurrence (3.90; 2.60-5.85, P<0.001) were related to late AF recurrence. The BASE-AF2 score had higher c-index than the MB-LATER, APPLE, CHADS2, CHA2DS2-VASc, CAAP-AF and HATCH scores when compared using ROC curves analysis (all P<0.05). The optimal point for predicting AF recurrence of the BASE-AF2 score in the ROC analysis was 1 point with sensitivity of 69.03% and specificity of 60.21%. CONCLUSIONS: The predicting AF recurrence value of BASE-AF2 score was superior to MB-LATER, APPLE, CHADS2, CHA2DS2-VASc, CAAP-AF and HATCH scores in patients with concurrent AF and PDs, which can be an effective and helpful score for making AF treatment decisions.

RESUMO

RATIONALE: Advanced signet ring cell (SRC) carcinoma has a worse prognosis. Therefore, early diagnosis and prevention is particularly important; SRC tumors have lower R0 resection rate and are thought to be less chemosensitive than non-SRCC. Consequently, a novel postoperative adjuvant treatment is urgently needed to improve clinical outcomes. PATIENT CONCERNS: A 41-year-old female with advanced gastric SRC carcinoma was treated with radical gastrectomy and oxaliplatin-based regimen for 6 cycles after surgery. She was suspected of recurrence with the high level of carbohydrate antigen (CA) 72-4. DIAGNOSES: The gastroscopy revealed SRC carcinoma of gastric antrum and poorly differentiated adenocarcinoma in some areas. The diagnosis of postoperative pathology report was gastric cancer with stage III C (T4a, N3a, M0). INTERVENTIONS: The level of CA72-4 rapidly increased during the 2 follow-up after the completion of conventional treatment, ex vivo-cultured allogeneic natural killer (NK) cell infusion was offered to prevent recurrence. OUTCOMES: Intravenous injections of NK cells combination with surgical treatment and chemotherapy showed therapeutic effects in this patient with possible relapse. The patient remained disease-free 46 months after the infusion of NK cells until the latest follow-up. LESSONS: CA72-4 appeared to be the most sensitive and specific marker in the gastric cancer patient, and the high level of CA72-4 may indicate the risk of recurrence. This case report provide rationale for NK cell infusion following the rapid increase of CA72-4 to prevent recurrence.

RESUMO

RATIONALE: Nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) is one of the most common malignancies in Southern China. Although combined chemotherapy with radiotherapy has been widely used in treating locally advanced lesions, relapse and metastases remain the primary cause of treatment failure, and are associated with an extremely poor prognosis. Therefore, more efficient and milder therapies are needed. PATIENT CONCERNS: Herein, we report a patient with advanced NPC with intracranial metastases who showed progression during conventional treatment. DIAGNOSES: Nonkeratinizing undifferentiated nasopharyngeal carcinoma (stage IV). INTERVENTIONS: After the completion of initial chemoradiotherapy and targeted therapy, metastases to brain occurred during follow-up. Ex vivo-cultured allogeneic NK cell infusion was offered. OUTCOMES: Although the intracranial metastases did not decrease 10 months after the NK cell treatment, they decreased significantly at 31 months after the treatment and partially disappeared. The tumor response indicated partial response. Furthermore, all of the intracranial metastases continued to decrease at about 42 months after treatment. LESSONS: The brain metastases of NPC are rare with poor prognosis. Radiotherapy in NPC can disrupt the blood-brain barrier, which may contribute to the metastases of brain. This case report will provide rationale for NK cell infusion following regular chemoradiotherapy.

RESUMO

High-level ab initio computations have been performed on the experimentally unknown species SCl+. The low-lying Λ-S electronic states correlated to the first and the second dissociation channels as well as their corresponding Ω states have been investigated by the icMRCI+Q methodology employing basis sets up to quintuple-ζ quality. Information about potential energy curves, electron configurations, spectroscopic constants, dipole moments and transition properties are derived and discussed. The results for SCl+ represent an improvement over our previous theoretical descriptions for the ground state. In addition, several low-lying excited states that have not been accessed experimentally and theoretically are also been well characterized in this work. The accuracy of our predictions for SCl+ are verified by comparisons of spectroscopic constants and vibrational levels between our accompany SCl computations and those reported in literatures for the neutral species. The feasibility of performing laser cooling of SCl+ has also been discussed and the photoelectron spectrum of SCl+(X3Σ-) + e â† SCl(X2Π) is simulated.

RESUMO

PURPOSE: Scintigraphic imaging of malignant glioblastoma (MG) continues to be challenging. We hypothesized that VPAC1 cell surface receptors can be targeted for positron emission tomography (PET) imaging of orthotopically implanted MG in a mouse model, using a VPAC1-specific peptide [64Cu]TP3805. PROCEDURES: The expression of VPAC1 in mouse GL261 and human U87 glioma cell lines was determined by western blot. The ability of [64Cu]TP3805 to bind to GL261 and U87 cells was studied by cell-binding. Receptor-blocking studies were performed to validate receptor specificity. GL261 tumors were implanted orthotopically in syngeneic T-bet knockout C57BL/6 mouse brain (N = 15) and allowed to grow for 2-3 weeks. Mice were injected i.v., first with ~ 150 µCi of 2-deoxy-2-[18F]fluoro-D-glucose ([18F]FDG) then 24 h later with ~ 200 µCi of [64Cu]TP3805. In another set of tumor-bearing mice, (N = 5), ionic [64Cu]Cl2 was injected as a control. Mice were imaged at a 2-h post-injection using an Inveon micro-PET/CT, sacrificed and % ID/g of [64Cu]TP3805 and [64Cu]Cl2 were calculated in a tumor, normal brain, and other tissues. For histologic tissue examination, 3-µm thick sections of the tumors and normal brain were prepared, digital autoradiography (DAR) was performed, and then the sections were H&E stained for histologic examination. RESULTS: Western blots showed a strong signal for VPAC1 on both cell lines. [64Cu]TP3805 cell-binding was 87 ± 1.5 %. Receptor-blocking reduced cell-binding to 24.3 ± 1.5 % (P < 0.01). PET imaging revealed remarkable accumulation of [64Cu]TP3805 in GL261 MG with a negligible background in the normal brain, as compared to [18F]FDG. Micro-PET/CT image analyses and tissue distribution showed that the brain tumor uptake for [64Cu]TP3805 was 8.2 ± 1.7 % ID/g and for [64Cu]Cl2 2.1 ± 0.5 % ID/g as compared to 1.0 ± 0.3 % ID/g and 1.4 ± 0.3 % ID/g for normal mouse brains, respectively. The high tumor/normal brain ratio for [64Cu]TP3805 (8.1 ± 1.1) allowed tumors to be visualized unequivocally. Histology and [64Cu]TP3805 DAR differentiated malignant tumors from healthy brain and confirmed PET findings. CONCLUSION: Targeting VPAC1 receptors using [64Cu]TP3805 for PET imaging of MG is a promising novel approach and calls for further investigation.

RESUMO

The twelve Λ-S electronic states of the first four dissociation limits of the MgSb molecule have been examined at the icMRCI+Q level employing basis sets of quintuple-ζ quality. The potential energy curves, vibrational levels and spectroscopic constants of the species have been investigated. The permanent dipole moments of the interested states are derived, and the transition dipole moments, Einstein emission coefficients, radiation lifetimes and Franck-Condon factors between selected states are also determined. Four Λ-S states of the first two dissociation limits split into seven Ω states under the effect of spin-orbit coupling. Characterizations of the MgSb low-lying Ω states are performed for the first time. In addition, the results and relevant data provided in this work on MgSb are compared with the antimony-IIA group and magnesium-VA group diatomic species. It is anticipated that this work will shed some light on further investigations of MgSb and other antimony-IIA group systems.

RESUMO

High-level ab initio computations have been performed on SnH+. The potential energy curves and spectroscopic constants of the low-lying Λ-S electronic states, as well as their associated Ω states, are derived at the icMRCI + Q level employing basis sets of quintuple-ζ quality. The transition dipole moments, Einstein coefficients, radiative lifetimes and Franck-Condon factors of three spin-forbidden transition bands ( [Formula: see text] , [Formula: see text] and [Formula: see text] ) are determined. Comparisons between our predictions and available experimental results indicate reasonable agreement. The spin-orbit coupling effect has been proved to affect these low-lying electronic states significantly.

RESUMO

The Λ-S electronic states with respect to the lowest four dissociation limits of BeSb are investigated theoretically on the icMRCI + Q level employing basis set of quintuple-ζ quality. The geometrical parameters, potential energy curves, vibrational energy levels, spectroscopic constants for the twelve Λ - S states are obtained, analyzed and compared with those of the Beryllium-VA group diatomic family species where data are available. The permanent dipole moments, transition dipole moments, Einstein emission coefficients, radiative lifetimes and Franck-Condon factors for interested Λ - S states are also derived. Further assessments of the spin-orbit coupling effect are performed for states associated with the first two dissociation asymptotes of BeSb. Four Λ - S states split into seven Ω states, and some of the PECs are distorted significantly through the spin-orbit coupling effect, which is similar to its isovalent diatomics BeAs. In consideration of potential risks of manipulating beryllium-containing species directly, the information associated with molecular structures, spectroscopic parameters as well as transition properties that provide in this paper is anticipated to serve as guidelines for further researches of BeSb.

RESUMO

Theoretical investigations for NaMg have been performed on the icMRCI + Q level employing basis set of quintuple-ζ quality with corrections of core-valence correlation and scalar relativistic effect. The geometrical parameters, potential energy curves, vibrational energy levels, spectroscopic constants for the eight Λ-S states, with respect to the lowest four dissociation limits, are investigated. Through the spin-orbit coupling effect, these states split into fourteen Ω states. The permanent dipole moments, transition dipole moments, Einstein emission coefficients, radiative lifetimes and Franck-Condon factors for all Ω states are studied. The feasibility of performing laser cooling of NaMg has also been discussed. Our predictive results are anticipated to serve as guidelines for further researches on NaMg.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Gastric duplication cysts are rare congenital alimentary tract anomalies and most cases are recognized during childhood. There were few reports about gastric duplication cysts in newborns and even fewer reports about laparoscopic resection of gastric duplication cysts in newborns. CASE PRESENTATION: We report a series of five newborns with gastric duplication cysts which were successfully resected by laparoscopy between January 2010 and April 2015. Case 1, a male newborn was admitted because of severe salivation, choking cough and dyspnea for 30 min after birth. Case 2, a male, was suspected of duodenal ileus by antenatal examination. Case 3, a female was admitted because of vomiting for 5 days. Case 4,a female without significant symptoms simply visited us for the abdominal cyst detected by antenatal examination. Case 5, a male was admitted because of vomiting for 4 days. All patients were performed with a surgery after assistant examinations. Case 1 was died of respiratory failure and the other patients recovered uneventfully. CONCLUSION: Gastric duplication cysts in newborns are very rare. Laparoscopic surgery play an important role on the diagnosis and treatment. Our experience and practice indicate that laparoscopic resection of gastric duplication cysts in newborns is viable and there is also a need to increase sample size to prove its safety and effectiveness.

RESUMO

In recent years, owing to the abuse of antibiotics, the widespread of resistant bacterial strains became a serious threat to public health. This status demands development of new antibacterial agents with novel mechanisms of action. The reason for the limited new antibacterials is the small number of effective therapeutic targets, which cannot meet the current needs for the multiple drug-resistant treatment. Screening for new targets is the key step in the development of novel antibacterial agents. Peptidoglycan is the main component of the cell wall of bacteria, which is essential for survival of pathogenic bacteria. Within the biochemical pathway for peptidoglycan biosynthes is the Murligases, described in this review as highly potential targets for the development of new classes of antibacterial agents. This review provides an in-depth insight into the recent developments in the field of inhibitors of the Mur enzymes (MurA-F). Moreover, the reasons for the lack of candidate inhibitors and the challenges to overcome the hurdles are also discussed.
