RESUMO

The leafhopper genus Takagioma Thapa, 1989 is recorded from China for the first time. Six species, T. pagoda Kang and Zhang, T. rostra Qin and Huang, T. gladius Kang and Zhang, T. curvata Kang and Zhang, T. anguis Qin and Huang and T. longicuada Qin and Huang spp. nov, are described and illustrated. A check-list and a key to all species of Takagioma are provided.

RESUMO

The Oriental leafhopper genus Trifida Thapa Sohi, 1986 and T. quadripunctata are recorded from China for the first time. Three new species, T. eleganta, T. robusta and T. elongata spp. nov., are described and illustrated. A check-list and key to all species of Trifida are provided.

RESUMO

The genus Sobrala Dworakowska is reported for the first time in China and a key to known species of the genus is provided. Four new species, Sobrala acanthophylla, S. dactylina, S. lamellaris and S. quadrilatera spp. nov. from China are described and illustrated.

A key to known species of the subgenus Michalowskiya (Michalowskiya) Dworakowska is provided. Detailed morphological descriptions and illustrations of six new species, Michalowskiya (Michalowskiya) aurantiaca, M. (M.) biprocessa, M. (M.) breviprocessa, M. (M.) brownistriata, M. (M.) longiprocessa, and M. (M.) pedata spp. nov. from China are provided.

UV-radiation exerts strong selection stress on the evolution of aphid populations, and thus, leads to their genetic differentiation. However, the effects of UV-radiation on different body-color biotypes of aphids are still ambiguous. In this study, new-born nymphae of red and green biotypes of Sitobion avenae were placed on two wheat varieties (Xiaoyan-22 and Astron), bred in an artificial bioclimatic chamber under strict controlled conditions (at 15 degrees C, 20 degrees C, and 25 degrees C, and treated with 30 W lamp of UV-B for 30 min per day for 5 days), and their development duration, mass, and mean relative growth rate were measured. The results showed that at lower temperature, UV-radiation delayed the growth of green biotype aphid on Xiaoyan-22 and Astron significantly; while at higher temperature, UV-radiation significantly delayed the growth of red biotype aphid on Xiaoyan-22, but had lesser effects on the growth of the two biotypes on Astron, illustrating that different biotypes of aphids had different responses to UV-radiation, and the responses were correlated to temperature and wheat varieties.
