RESUMO

Magnetic heterojunction structures with a suppressed interfacial Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya interaction and a sustainable long-range interlayer exchange coupling are achieved with an ultrathin platinum insertion layer. The systematic inelastic light scattering spectroscopy measurements indicate that the insertion layer restores the symmetry of the system and, then, the interfacial Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya interaction, which can prevent the identical magnetic domain wall motions, is obviously minimized. Nevertheless, the strong interlayer exchange coupling of the system is maintained. Consequently, synthetic ferromagnetic and antiferromagnetic exchange couplings as a function of the ruthenium layer thickness are observed as well. Therefore, these optimized magnetic multilayer stacks can avoid crucial issues, such as domain wall tilting and position problems, for next-generation spintronic logic applications. Moreover, the synthetic antiferromagnetic coupling can open a new path to develop a radically different NOT gate via current-induced magnetic domain wall motions and inversions.

RESUMO

We propose an optical see-through holographic near-eye-display that can control the depth of field of individual virtual three-dimensional image and replicate the eyebox with dynamic steering. For optical see-through capability and eyebox duplication, a holographic optical element is used as an optical combiner where it functions as multiplexed tilted concave mirrors forming multiple copies of the eyebox. For depth of field control and eyebox steering, computer generated holograms of three-dimensional objects are synthesized with different ranges of angular spectrum. In optical experiment, it has been confirmed that the proposed system can present always-focused images with large depth of field and three-dimensional images at different distances with shallow depth of field at the same time without any time-multiplexing.

RESUMO

Poor-quality oocytes (those with 1-2 layers of cumulus cells) typically possess low meiotic competence and development. Prolonging the duration of in vitro maturation (IVM; 52 hr) can enhance the maturation rate of poor-quality oocytes, but it does not improve subsequent embryonic development. This likely reflects the increased reactive oxygen species (ROS) production and apoptosis seen in these oocytes compared with the non-prolonged IVM (44 hr) group. Melatonin is a free radical scavenger, anti-oxidant and anti-apoptotic agent that reported to enhance the quality of embryos by inhibiting ROS generation and apoptosis. Therefore, we herein investigated whether melatonin combined with prolonged IVM (52 hr) could improve the quality and development of poor-quality oocytes. We supplemented IVM and/or in vitro culture (IVC) media with various concentrations (0, 10-7 , 10-6 , 10-5 M) of melatonin, and estimated parameters related to oocyte quality and development. The addition of melatonin (10-6 M) to a prolonged IVM system improved the oocyte quality and development compared with those of the melatonin-free poor-quality oocytes group, and that this was due to decreases in ROS generation, apoptosis, and DNA damage. When melatonin was added during both IVM (10-6 M) and IVC (10-6 M), we observed a cumulative positive influence on the embryonic development and quality; this treatment enhanced the expression level of Oct4 and decreased the levels of ROS, DNA damage, and apoptosis. Together, these findings suggest that the combination of melatonin plus prolonged IVM can improve the quality and development of poor-quality porcine oocytes via anti-oxidative and anti-apoptotic effects.

RESUMO

We propose a Maxwellian near-to-eye display implemented using a multiplexed holographic optical element. Maxwellian configuration removes the focal cue of the displayed virtual image completely, presenting an always-focused image to the observer regardless of the focal length of the eye. The transparent property of the holographic optical element enables the optical see-through feature, making the proposed near-to-eye display suitable for augmented reality applications. The multiplexing of multiple concave mirrors into a single holographic optical element enlarges the effective eyebox, relaxing the limitation of the conventional Maxwellian displays. Optical experiment confirms that the proposed display can present always-focused images on top of the real environment with 9.2°(H)×5.2°(V) field of view, and 9 mm (H)×3 mm (V) eyebox.

RESUMO

Occlusion handling in computer-generated holography is of vast importance as it enhances depth information by presenting correct motion parallax of the 3D scene within the viewing angle. In this paper, we propose a computationally efficient occlusion handling technique based on a fully analytic mesh based computer generated holography. The proposed technique uses angular spectrum convolution that renders exact occlusion while preserving all other aspects of the fully analytic mesh based computer generated holography. The proposed method is computationally efficient as only a single convolution operation is required for each mesh without numerical propagation between the meshes. The proposed method is also exact as it performs the occlusion processing in the tilted mesh plane, being free from artifacts coming from orthographic spatial masking. The proposed method can be applied to the self and the mutual occlusions between the objects in the 3D scene. The computer simulated results show the feasibility of the proposed method.

RESUMO

We propose a bar-type three-dimensional holographic head mounted display using two holographic optical elements. Conventional stereoscopic head mounted displays may suffer from eye fatigue because the images presented to each eye are two-dimensional ones, which causes mismatch between the accommodation and vergence responses of the eye. The proposed holographic head mounted display delivers three-dimensional holographic images to each eye, removing the eye fatigue problem. In this paper, we discuss the configuration of the bar-type waveguide head mounted displays and analyze the aberration caused by the non-symmetric diffraction angle of the holographic optical elements which are used as input and output couplers. Pre-distortion of the hologram is also proposed in the paper to compensate the aberration. The experimental results show that proposed head mounted display can present three-dimensional see-through holographic images to each eye with correct focus cues.

RESUMO

Fully analytic mesh-based computer generated hologram enables efficient and precise representation of three-dimensional scene. Conventional method assigns uniform amplitude inside individual mesh, resulting in reconstruction of the three-dimensional scene of flat shading. In this paper, we report an extension of the conventional method to achieve the continuous shading where the amplitude in each mesh is continuously varying. The proposed method enables the continuous shading, while maintaining fully analytic framework of the conventional method without any sacrifice in the precision. The proposed method can also be extended to enable fast update of the shading for different illumination directions and the ambient-diffuse reflection ratio based on Phong reflection model. The feasibility of the proposed method is confirmed by the numerical and optical reconstruction of the generated hologram.
