RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: This study aimed to explore the effect of preoperative nursing visit on anxiety and postoperative complications in patients undergoing radical prostatectomy and to provide a better perioperative management plan for patients with prostate cancer (PCa) undergoing surgical treatment. METHODS: The medical records of 199 patients who underwent PCa treatment in our hospital from June 2021 to June 2023 were retrospectively analysed. The reference group received preoperative routine nursing, whereas the observation group implemented preoperative nursing visit. The stress indexes, quality of life, negative emotion level and incidence of complications were compared between the two groups. RESULTS: Before management, no significant difference in the levels of epinephrine, norepinephrine and cortisol was found between the two groups (p > 0.05). After management, the levels of the abovementioned stress indicators in the observation group were lower than those in the reference group (p < 0.001). Before management, no significant difference in Short-Form-36 Health Survey (SF-36) scores was observed between the two groups (p > 0.05). After management, the observation group had higher SF-36 score than the reference group (p < 0.001). Before management, no significant difference in Hamilton Anxiety Scale (HAMA) and Hamilton Depression Scale (HAMD) scores was found between the two groups (p > 0.05). After management, the observation group had lower HAMA and HAMD scores than the reference group (p < 0.001). Furthermore, no significant difference in the incidence of complications was found between the two groups (p > 0.05). CONCLUSIONS: Preoperative nursing visit can reduce the anxiety of patients with PCa to a certain extent. This scheme can promote the postoperative recovery of patients, and it has certain clinical application and promoting values.

RESUMO

The implementation of a carbon emission trading pilot policy has a positive impact on sustainable development but may lead to pollution transfer by enterprises, thereby affecting sustainability. In this study, based on the panel data of Chinese-listed companies from 2007 to 2017, the carbon emission trading pilot policy was treated as a quasi-natural experiment and the Difference-in-Differences model was used to analyze whether these companies engaged in pollution transfer under the policy shock. The results indicated: first, carbon emission trading pilots lead to pollution transfer within mainland China but not across international borders; second, the power and aviation industries exhibited significant pollution transfer phenomena, and the policy also encouraged pollution transfer by non-green transformation enterprises; third, regional heterogeneity further showed that the central region showed no signs of pollution transfer and instead experienced pollution inflow, while the eastern region exhibited significant pollution transfer. Therefore, in designing policy, we should fully consider the phenomenon of enterprise pollution transfer, promote technological innovation, and ensure that carbon emission trading policies achieve emission reduction goals and promote sustainable development.

RESUMO

Through a two-year follow-up study among 2,845 middle school students, we examined the impact of baseline negative life events (NLE) on follow-up negative copying style (NCS) and Internet addiction (IA), and the mediation of NCS between NLE and IA. We found that all NLE, NCS, and IA were correlated, and that both NLE and NCS were risk factors for IA. Structural equation modeling (SEM) results showed that NLE were associated with increased NCS (ß = 0.17, p < 0.01) and IA (ß = 0.16, p < 0.01), that NCS was associated IA ( ß = 0.33, p < 0 0.01), and that NCS partially mediated the effect of NLE on IA ( ß = 0.17, p < 0.01). This large longitudinal study provided solid empirical evidence that NLE and NCS played important roles in IA among middle school students. Educators and policy makers may adopt corresponding approaches to address IA among this population.

RESUMO

Green credit plays a crucial role in reducing energy consumption and environmental degradation in China. Using data on China's new energy listed companies from 2007 to 2018, this study explores the impact of green credit on new energy firms' value, as well as the mediating effects of financing constraints and external supervision on the relationship between green credit and new energy companies' economic benefits. Our results suggest that green credit significantly improved new energy firms' value, and this positive impact can last over the long term. The above result is robust to using alternative measures, replacement of fixed effects, exclusion of abnormal samples, and placebo test. Additional tests reveal that green credit improves new energy companies' value by alleviating financing constraints and strengthening external supervision. Finally, green credit's value-enhancement effect is heterogeneous, depending on corporate property rights, business life cycle, implementation of Green Credit Guideline policy, and the firms' geographical location. Our conclusions suggest that government should not only pay attention to the continuity of green credit commitment but also the mitigation of financing constraints and improvement of external supervision for new energy companies. Moreover, heterogeneous factors should be considered to formulate and calibrate related policy rather than a one-size-fits-all policy.

RESUMO

The occult pulmonary infection is the most common complications in elderly patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). Since its etiological characteristics has not been clarified, infection control remains a serious problem for public health. To investigate the prevalence and clinical significance of occult pulmonary infection in elderly T2DM patients, in this study, 573 elderly patients cochallenged with T2DM and community-acquired pulmonary infection from January 2018 to December 2020 were selected in the hospitals and divided into occult pneumonia group (OP, n = 249) and nonoccult pneumonia group (NOP, n = 324) according to the nature of infection. Clinical medical records were analyzed retrospectively to summarize the infection characteristics of elderly diabetics with occult pneumonia. The prevalence of the cases (278/324, 85.8%) in NOP group was not higher than that in OP group (206/249, 82.7%; P > 0.05). Also, there was not significant difference in the distribution of isolated pathogens among the positive patients. The length of hospitalization and mortality of OP patients were significantly higher than those NOP patients. Multivariate logistic regression showed that advanced age, comorbidities, hypothyroidism, senile dementia, and prolonged bed rest were independent risk factors for occult pneumonia in elderly diabetic patients. Therefore, the results demonstrated that the pulmonary infection in elderly patients with diabetes mellitus is often occult. Gram-negative bacteria are the predominant pathogens and cause poor prognosis. Advanced age, comorbidities (senile dementia, hypothyroidism), and prolonged bed rest are the independent risk factors for occult pneumonia.

RESUMO

This paper presents a new index called sustainable total-factor ecology efficiency (STFEcE), which integrates the ecological footprint and human development index into the framework of total-factor energy efficiency. Compared with the total-factor ecology efficiency index, the new index can better reflect the sustainable development efficiency of a region. This study uses data from 30 provinces of China over the period 2005-2016 to measure the STFEcE. Considering the heterogeneity of regional development in China, the meta-frontier slack-based data envelopment analysis (DEA) model is implemented. The results are as follows. First, the STFEcE for China is low, indicating the great potential for improvement in the sustainable development efficiency of China. Second, the heterogeneity of the STFEcE across the three regions of China (eastern, central, and western) is evident, given the "concave" trend from the eastern region to the western region. Third, decomposing the STFEcE into the technology inefficiency and management inefficiency indexes shows that the management efficiency of the eastern region needs to be improved, whereas the technology efficiency of the central region needs enhancement. For the western region, both the technology efficiency and management efficiency need improvement.
