Biallelic pathogenic variants cause maple syrup urine disease (MSUD) in one of the branched-chain α-keto acid dehydrogenase (BCKDH) complex genes (BCKDHA, BCKDHB, DBT, DLD, and PPM1K) leading to the accumulation of leucine, isoleucine, and valine. This study aimed to perform a molecular diagnosis of Brazilian patients with MSUD using gene panels and massive parallel sequencing. Eighteen Brazilian patients with a biochemical diagnosis of MSUD were analyzed by massive parallel sequencing in the Ion PGM Torrent Server using a gene panel with the BCKDHA, BCKDHB, and DBT genes. The American College of Medical Genetics and Genomics guidelines were used to determine variant pathogenicity. Thirteen patients had both variants found by massive parallel sequencing, whereas 3 patients had only one variant found. In 2 patients, the variants were not found by this analysis. These 5 patients required additional Sanger sequencing to confirm their genotype. Twenty-five pathogenic variants were identified in the 3 MSUD-related genes (BCKDHA, BCKDHB, and DBT). Most variants were present in the BCKDHB gene, and no common variants were found. Nine novel variants were observed: c.922 A > G, c.964C > A, and c.1237 T > C in the BCKDHA gene; and c.80_90dup, c.384delA, c.478 A > T, c.528C > G, c.977 T > C, and c.1039-2 A > G in the BCKDHB gene. All novel variants were classified as pathogenic. Molecular modeling of the novel variants indicated that the binding of monomers was affected in the BCKDH complex tetramer, which could lead to a change in the stability and activity of the enzyme. Massive parallel sequencing with targeted gene panels seems to be a cost-effective method that can provide a molecular diagnosis of MSUD.

BACKGROUND: Seasonal variation in attacks of acute disseminated encephalomyelitis (ADEM1) is reported in some studies. Myelin oligodendrocyte glycoprotein (MOG) antibodies are found in up to 50 % of ADEM cases. Despite this, there has been no adequately powered study of seasonality in MOG antibody-associated disease (MOGAD). We sought to determine whether there was an effect of season on incidence of total attacks and onset attacks of MOGAD. METHODS: We searched the large national Oxford-based NMO Service database to identify attacks of MOGAD occurring between 2010 and 2021. Month of each attack was extracted and Edwards' test of seasonal variation was applied to determine whether there was a seasonal effect on total attacks and onset attacks. RESULTS: Neither incidence of total attacks nor incidence of onset attacks varied significantly by month. CONCLUSION: There is no evidence of seasonal fluctuations in the incidence of MOGAD attacks in the UK.

BACKGROUND: More than 95% of malaria transmission in Brazil occurs in the Legal Amazon Region, which in 2010 recorded around 333,429 cases reported in the Epidemiological Surveillance Information System-Malaria (Sivep_malaria), presenting an annual parasitic incidence (IPA) of 13.1 cases/1000 inhabitants. METHODS: This was a descriptive study that measured the community prevalence of Plasmodium infection and its relationship with land use in Três Fronteiras District, Colniza Municipality, Mato Grosso State. Data were collected during household visits in July 2011, with blood collection from finger pricks for the preparation of thick smear slides, and completion of a standardized case notification form. A georeferenced database was analysed, with land use evaluated as categorical variables. A kernel density map was built to show the density of cases and their location. RESULTS: Of the 621 respondents, 68(11%) had Plasmodium infection: 39 (57.4%) with Plasmodium vivax, 27(39.7%) with Plasmodium falciparum and two (2.9%) with mixed infections. Among infected individuals, 49 (72.1%) were men. Cases of malaria were distributed over the district, with greater occurrence of cases per household in open areas close to the mining company and artisanal mining sites. The was a greater density of cases located in the gold mining region. CONCLUSION: Transmission of malaria in Três Fronteiras District has a heterogeneous distribution. Individuals residing in mining and timber extraction sites have increased occurrence of Plasmodium infection.

Neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorder is an autoimmune disease, causing severe disability due to relapses, but recent mortality data are limited. Among 396 patients seropositive for anti-aquaporin-4 antibody from 2014 to 2020 in the United Kingdom, 39 deaths occurred: 19 (48.7%) were unrelated to disease; 14 (35.9%) were severe disability- or relapse-related; and 4 (10.3%) were attributed to malignancy/infection. Mean annual mortality was 1.92% versus 0.63% in the matched population. The standardized mortality ratio was 3.04 (95% confidence interval 1.67-5.30) with 1.29% excess mortality per year in patients. Median Expanded Disability Status Scale before death was 7.0. Results highlight the importance of preventing relapses that drive disability.

BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES: To systematically describe the clinical picture of double-antibody seronegative neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorders (DN-NMOSD) with specific emphasis on retinal involvement. METHODS: Cross-sectional data of 25 people with DN-NMOSD (48 eyes) with and without a history of optic neuritis (ON) were included in this study along with data from 25 people with aquaporin-4 antibody seropositive neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorder (AQP4-NMOSD, 46 eyes) and from 25 healthy controls (HCs, 49 eyes) for comparison. All groups were matched for age and sex and included from the collaborative retrospective study of retinal optical coherence tomography (OCT) in neuromyelitis optica (CROCTINO). Participants underwent OCT with central postprocessing and local neurologic examination and antibody testing. Retinal neurodegeneration was quantified as peripapillary retinal nerve fiber layer thickness (pRNFL) and combined ganglion cell and inner plexiform layer thickness (GCIPL). RESULTS: This DN-NMOSD cohort had a history of [median (inter-quartile range)] 6 (5; 9) attacks within their 5 ± 4 years since onset. Myelitis and ON were the most common attack types. In DN-NMOSD eyes after ON, pRNFL (p < 0.001) and GCIPL (p = 0.023) were thinner compared with eyes of HCs. Even after only one ON episode, DN-NMOSD eyes already had considerable neuroaxonal loss compared with HCs. In DN-NMOSD eyes without a history of ON, pRNFL (p = 0.027) and GCIPL (p = 0.022) were also reduced compared with eyes of HCs. However, there was no difference in pRNFL and GCIPL between DN-NMOSD and AQP4-NMOSD for the whole group and for subsets with a history of ON and without a history of ON-as well as between variances of retinal layer thicknesses. DISCUSSION: DN-NMOSD is characterized by severe retinal damage after ON and attack-independent retinal neurodegeneration. Most of the damage occurs during the first ON episode, which highlights the need for better diagnostic markers in DN-NMOSD to facilitate an earlier diagnosis as well as for effective and early treatments. In this study, people with DN-NMOSD presented with homogeneous clinical and imaging findings potentially suggesting a common retinal pathology in these patients.

This study investigated the incorporation of sources of calcium, phosphate, or both into electrospun scaffolds and evaluated their bioactivity on human dental pulp cells (HDPCs). Additionally, scaffolds incorporated with calcium hydroxide (CH) were characterized for degradation, calcium release, and odontogenic differentiation by HDPCs. Polycaprolactone (PCL) was electrospun with or without 0.5% w/v of calcium hydroxide (PCL + CH), nano-hydroxyapatite (PCL + nHA), or ß-glycerophosphate (PCL + ßGP). SEM/EDS analysis confirmed fibrillar morphology and particle incorporation. HDPCs were cultured on the scaffolds to assess cell viability, adhesion, spreading, and mineralized matrix formation. PCL + CH was also evaluated for gene expression of odontogenic markers (RT-qPCR). Data were submitted to ANOVA and Student's t-test (α = 5%). Added CH increased fiber diameter and interfibrillar spacing, whereas ßGP decreased both. PCL + CH and PCL + nHA improved HDPC viability, adhesion, and proliferation. Mineralization was increased eightfold with PCL + CH. Scaffolds containing CH gradually degraded over six months, with calcium release within the first 140 days. CH incorporation upregulated DSPP and DMP1 expression after 7 and 14 days. In conclusion, CH- and nHA-laden PCL fiber scaffolds were cytocompatible and promoted HDPC adhesion, proliferation, and mineralized matrix deposition. PCL + CH scaffolds exhibit a slow degradation profile, providing sustained calcium release and stimulating HDPCs to upregulate odontogenesis marker genes.

BACKGROUND: Aquaporin-4 (AQP4) antibody associated neuromyelitis optica (NMOSD) requires long-term immunosuppression. Rituximab is increasingly used worldwide, however the optimal regime is not established. METHODS: We retrospectively examined different rituximab regimens in AQP4-NMOSD. Standard monotherapy (SM; 6 monthly infusions), SM plus oral steroids (SM+S), extended interval dosing (EID; guided by CD19 repopulation) and EID with oral steroids (EID+S) were compared. The primary outcome was time to first clinical relapse. Potential confounders including age, gender, number of previous relapses, and onset phenotype were included. RESULTS: 77 patients were included: 67 females, median onset age 35.6, median DSS at rituximab initiation 5.0. 39 were on SM+S, 20 SM, 6 EID, and 12 EID+S. 25/77 patients relapsed during a median follow-up of 44.0 months. No significant difference in time to first relapse was observed between any rituximab regimen. Pooled analyses to compare regimens that use standard monotherapy (SM and SM+S) against those that use extended interval dosing (EID and EID+S) showed no significant difference. Pooled analysis of regimens using steroids with those not using steroids also showed no significant difference. Adjusted Cox proportional hazard model revealed no significant difference between rituximab regimens or influence of demographic factors. 9 significant adverse events were recorded, 5 in the SM group and 4 in SM+S. CONCLUSIONS: This study provides some basis for further exploring EID as a viable option for long term treatment of AQP4-NMOSD. This may improve patient experience and consolidate use of hospital resources.

The cacao swollen shoot virus disease (CSSVD) is among the most economically damaging diseases of cacao trees and accounts for almost 15-50% of harvest losses in Ghana. This virus is transmitted by several species of mealybugs (Pseudococcidae, Homoptera) when they feed on cacao plants. One of the mitigation strategies for CSSVD investigated at the Cocoa Research Institute of Ghana (CRIG) is the use of mild-strain cross-protection of cacao trees against the effects of severe strains. In this study, simple deterministic, delay, and stochastic ordinary differential equation-based models to describe the dynamic of the disease and spread of the virus are suggested. Model parameters are estimated using detailed empirical data from CRIG. The modeling outcomes demonstrate a remarkable resemblance between real and simulated dynamics. We have found that models with delay approximate the data better and this agrees with the knowledge that CSSVD epidemics develop slowly. Also, since there are large variations in the data, stochastic models lead to better results. We show that these models can be used to gain useful informative insights about the nature of disease spread.

BACKGROUND: Neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorder (NMOSD) and myelin oligodendrocyte glycoprotein antibody-associated disease (MOGAD) are rare disorders often seen in highly specialized services or tertiary centres. We aimed to assess if cohort characteristics depend on the origin of the referral catchment areas serviced by our centre (i.e. local, regional or national). METHODS: Retrospective cohort study using a national referral service database including local (Oxfordshire), regional (Oxfordshire and neighbouring counties), and national patients. We included patients with the diagnosis of NMOSD, seronegative NMOSD or MOGAD, followed at the Oxford Neuromyelitis Optica Service. RESULTS: We included 720 patients (331 with MOGAD, 333 with aquaporin-4 antibody (AQP4)-NMOSD, and 56 with seronegative NMOSD. The distribution of diagnoses was similar across referral cohorts. There were no significant differences in the proportion of pediatric onset patients, sex, or onset phenotype; more White AQP4-NMOSD patients were present in the local than in the national cohort (81 % vs 52 %). Despite no differences in follow-up time, more relapsing MOGAD disease was present in the national than in the local cohort (42.9 % vs. 24 %, p = 0.029). CONCLUSION: This is the first study assessing the impact of potential referral bias in cohorts of NMOSD or MOGAD. The racial difference in the AQP4-NMOSD cohorts likely reflects the variation in the population demographics rather than a referral bias. The over representation of relapsing MOGAD patients in the national cohort probably is a true referral bias and highlights the need to analyze incident cohorts when describing disease course and prognosis. It seems reasonable therefore to compare MOGAD and NMOSD patients seen withing specialised centres to general neurology services, provided both use similar antibody assays.

BACKGROUND: Streptococcus mutans and Candida albicans are associated with caries recurrence. Therefore, this study evaluated the combination of a Ru(II)-loaded resin-based dental material (RDM) and antimicrobial photodynamic therapy (aPDT) against a dual-species biofilm of S. mutans and C. albicans. METHODS: An aPDT protocol was established evaluating Ru(II)'s photocatalytic activity and antimicrobial potential under blue LED irradiation (440-460 nm, 22.55 mW/cm2) at different energy densities (0.00, 6.25, 20.25, 40.50 J/cm2). This evaluation involved singlet oxygen quantification and determination of minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) and minimum bactericidal/fungicidal concentration (MBC/MFC). The biofilm was grown (72 h) on resin disks prepared with Ru(II)-doped RDM (0.00, 0.56, or 1.12 %) and samples were exposed to aPDT or dark conditions. The biofilm was then harvested to analyze cell viability (CFU counts) and formation of soluble and insoluble exopolysaccharides. RESULTS: The photocatalytic activity of Ru(II) was concentration and energy density dependent (p < 0.05), and MIC/MBC values were reduced for the microorganisms after LED irradiation (40.5 J/cm2); therefor, this energy density was chosen for aPDT. Although incorporation of Ru(II) into RDM reduced the biofilm growth compared to Ru(II)-free RDM for both species in dark conditions (p < 0.05), aPDT combined with an Ru(II)-loaded RDM (0.56 or 1.12 %) potentialized CFU reductions (p < 0.05). Conversely, only 1.12 % Ru(II) with LED irradiation showed lower levels of both soluble and insoluble exopolysaccharides compared to Ru(II)-free samples in dark conditions (p < 0.05). CONCLUSIONS: When the Ru(II)-loaded RDM was associated with blue LED, aPDT reduced cell viability and lower soluble and insoluble exopolysaccharides were found in the cariogenic dual-species biofilm.

Patient-reported quality-of-life (QoL) and carer impacts are not reported after leucine-rich glioma-inactivated 1-antibody encephalitis (LGI1-Ab-E). From 60 patients, 85% (51 out of 60) showed one abnormal score across QoL assessments and 11 multimodal validated questionnaires. Compared to the premorbid state, QoL significantly deteriorated (p < 0.001) and, at a median of 41 months, fatigue was its most important predictor (p = 0.025). In total, 51% (26 out of 51) of carers reported significant burden. An abbreviated five-item battery explained most variance in QoL. Wide-ranging impacts post-LGI1-Ab-E include decreased QoL and high caregiver strain. We identify a rapid method to capture QoL in routine clinic or clinical trial settings.

In vitro models of the dental pulp microenvironment have been proposed for the assessment of biomaterials, to minimise animal use in operative dentistry. In this study, a scaffold/3-D dental pulp cell culture interface was created in a microchip, under simulated dental pulp pressure, to evaluate the cell-homing potential of a chitosan (CH) scaffold functionalised with calcium aluminate (the 'CHAlCa scaffold'). This microphysiological platform was cultured at a pressure of 15 cm H2O for up to 14 days; cell viability, migration and odontoblastic differentiation were then assessed. The CHAlCa scaffold exhibited intense chemotactic potential, causing cells to migrate from the 3-D culture to its surface, followed by infiltration into the macroporous structure of the scaffold. By contrast, the cells in the presence of the non-functionalised chitosan scaffold showed low cell migration and no cell infiltration. CHAlCa scaffold bioactivity was confirmed in dentin sialophosphoprotein-positive migrating cells, and odontoblastic markers were upregulated in 3-D culture. Finally, in situ mineralised matrix deposition by the cells was confirmed in an Alizarin Red-based assay, in which the CHAlCa and CH scaffolds were adapted to fit within dentin discs. More intense deposition of matrix was observed with the CHAlCa scaffold, as compared to the CH scaffold. In summary, we present an in vitro platform that provides a simple and reproducible model for selecting and developing innovative biomaterials through the assessment of their cell-homing potential. By using this platform, it was shown that the combination of calcium aluminate and chitosan has potential as an inductive biomaterial that can mediate dentin tissue regeneration during cell-homing therapies.

MÉTODO: esta revisão será conduzida conforme o Manual do Instituto Joanna Briggs com utilização das diretrizes do checklist PRISMA Extension for Scoping Reviews, utilizando as seguintes bases de dados: MEDLINE via PubMed, Web of Science, EMBASE, COCHRANE e, para a literatura cinzenta, Catálogo de Teses e Dissertações CAPES e o Google Scholar. Após a busca dos estudos, será feita remoção das duplicadas no gerenciador EndNote e, em seguida, serão exportadas para o software Rayyan onde serão analisados os títulos e resumos seguida da leitura do texto completo por pares e às cegas, e quaisquer desacordos serão discutidos com um terceiro revisor. Os dados extraídos serão apresentados por meio de fluxogramas, tabelas, quadros e discussão narrativa e descritiva. OBJECTIVE: To map in the literature nursing care before, during, and after therapeutic bleeding in the elderly. METHOD: this review will be conducted by the Joanna Briggs Institute Manual using the PRISMA Extension for Scoping Reviews CHECKLIST guidelines using the following databases: MEDLINE via PubMed, Web of Science, EMBASE, COCHRANE and, for gray literature, Catalogue of theses and dissertations CAPES and Google Scholar. After searching the studies, the duplicates will be removed in the EndNote manager and then exported to the Rayyan software where the titles and abstracts will be analyzed followed by reading the full text by pairs and blind, and any disagreements will be discussed with a third reviewer. The extracted data will be presented through flowcharts, tables, and narrative and descriptive discussion. The analysis of food using a perspective centred on nutrients seems inadequate for understanding the dietary transition and its impact on the growth of obesity and chronic diseases. Industrial food processing is now proposed as the key to explain the relationship between food and health. The NOVA food classification considers the degree and the purpose of food processing, which includes physical, biological and chemical processes used after foods are separated from nature, and before being consumed or prepared as dishes and meals. NOVA has four food groups: (1) unprocessed and minimally processed foods; (2) processed culinary ingredients; (3) processed foods and (4) ultra-processed foods, which are formulations made mostly or entirely from substances derived from group 1 foods and additives, with little if any intact group 1 food. Many investigations linking high ultra-processed food consumption with deterioration of diets and adverse health outcomes are reinforced by prospective studies, systematic reviews and meta-analyses. There are various plausible explanations of why diets high in ultra-processed foods are harmful. Their production and consumption continue to rise worldwide. Efficient and effective public policies and actions that reduce production and consumption of ultra-processed products are needed, to protect human health now and in future.

Purpose: There is no consensus for management of patellar instability, even in the case of malalignment. The purpose of the review is to evaluate outcomes in the literature of MPFL reconstruction with and without tibial tubercle osteotomy. Methods: Two databases PubMed and Scopus were searched for studies comparing MPFL reconstruction with and without concomitant tibial tuberosity osteotomy. PRISMA guidelines were followed. Data on functional outcomes via Kujala score, redislocation rates and return to sport rates were reported. Results: 9 studies included data from 806 knees: 463 submitted to isolated MPFL reconstruction, and 343 submitted to the combined surgery. Patients submitted to the combined procedure had all TT-TG values superior to 18, while the ones with isolated reconstruction had more heterogeneous values, varying between 13 and 20 mm. 77.78% of the studies reported on postoperative Kujala scores, with a mean value of 83.53 in patients who underwent MPFL reconstruction alone and 83.72 in those who underwent the combined procedure. The mean difference between the two groups was -0.83, with the improvement of the score statistically significant in 22.22% of the studies, regardless of the surgery. Concerning redislocation rate, odds ratio comparing both procedures was 0.84 (p = 0.67). Conclusion: The principal finding is that the MPFL reconstruction with or without TTO resulted in similar functional outcomes, assessed by the Kujala score, and low complications concerning recurrent patellar dislocation. More robust literature is needed in the setting of a high TT-TG distance. Level of evidence: IV.

Although it is well established that platelet-activated receptor (PAF) and protease-activated receptor 2 (PAR2) play a pivotal role in the pathophysiology of lung and airway inflammatory diseases, a role for a PAR2-PAFR cooperation in lung inflammation has not been investigated. Here, we investigated the role of PAR2 in PAF-induced lung inflammation and neutrophil recruitment in lungs of BALB/c mice. Mice were pretreated with the PAR2 antagonist ENMD1068, PAF receptor (PAFR) antagonist WEB2086, or aprotinin prior to intranasal instillation of carbamyl-PAF (C-PAF) or the PAR2 agonist peptide SLIGRL-NH2 (PAR2-AP). Leukocyte infiltration in bronchoalveolar lavage fluid (BALF), C-X-C motif ligand 1 (CXCL)1 and CXCL2 chemokines, myeloperoxidase (MPO), and N-acetyl-glycosaminidase (NAG) levels in BALF, or lung inflammation were evaluated. Intracellular calcium signaling, PAFR/PAR2 physical interaction, and the expression of PAR2 and nuclear factor-kappa B (NF-КB, p65) transcription factor were investigated in RAW 264.7 cells stimulated with C-PAF in the presence or absence of ENMD1068. C-PAF- or PAR2-AP-induced neutrophil recruitment into lungs was inhibited in mice pretreated with ENMD1068 and aprotinin or WEB2086, respectively. PAR2 blockade impaired C-PAF-induced neutrophil rolling and adhesion, lung inflammation, and production of MPO, NAG, CXCL1, and CXCL2 production in lungs of mice. PAFR activation reduced PAR2 expression and physical interaction of PAR2 and PAFR; co-activation is required for PAFR/PAR2 physical interaction. PAR2 blockade impaired C-PAF-induced calcium signal and NF-κB p65 translocation in RAW 264.7 murine macrophages. This study provides the first evidence for a cooperation between PAFR and PAR2 mediating neutrophil recruitment, lung inflammation, and macrophage activation.

Introduction: SARS-CoV-2 has rapid dissemination and high infectivity and can evolve into Severe Respiratory Distress Syndrome (SARS), which led to a high number of deaths and hospitalizations in the recent pandemic. Computed tomography (CT) of the chest has demonstrated an essential role in the initial evaluation and evolution of these patients. Methodology: This was a retrospective observational study at a single center, University Hospital in Northeastern Brazil, evaluating 97 patients hospitalized for COVID-19 with laboratory confirmation to evaluate and quantify the chest CT findings, comparing the findings with the severity of the case and relating them to the morbidities presented. The CT scans were performed by radiologists from the hospital and the data were evaluated by the university's statistics laboratory. Results: Among the main alterations, ground-glass opacities were present in more than 90% of the patients. The study observed that the magnitude of the pulmonary involvement of this finding had a relationship with the outcome of higher hospitalization. Conclusion: In this sense, the relevance of chest CT to suggest the diagnosis of Covid-19 and establish the prognosis of the disease is observed. However, further studies are still needed to confirm these finding (AU).


Introdução: O SARS-CoV-2 possui rápida disseminação e alta infectividade, podendo evoluir com Síndrome da Angústia Respiratória Grave (SARS), o que levou a um número elevado de mortes e internações na recente pandemia. A Tomografia Computadorizada (TC) de tórax demonstrou um papel essencial na avaliação inicial e evolução desses pacientes. Metodologia: Este foi um estudo observacional retrospectivo em centro único - Hospital Universitário no Nordeste do Brasil - avaliando 97 pacientes internados por COVID-19 com confirmação laboratorial, a fim de avaliar e quantificar os achados de TC de tórax, comparando os achados com a gravidade do caso e relacionando-os com as morbidades apresentadas. As TCs foram laudadas por radiologistas do próprio hospital. Após isso, os dados foram avaliados pelo laboratório de estatística da universidade para serem analisados e discutidos. Resultados: Dentre as principais alterações, o vidro fosco estava presente em mais de 90% dos pacientes. Foi observado que a magnitude do comprometimento pulmonar deste achado apresentou relação desfavorável com o desfecho da internação. Conclusão: Neste sentido, observa-se a relevância da TC de tórax para sugerir o diagnóstico de Covid-19 e estabelecer o prognóstico da doença. No entanto, ainda são necessários mais estudos para destrinchar estes achado (AU).

A partir do diálogo com a Psicologia Social Discursiva e o Construcionismo Social, analisamos as práticas discursivas manifestas em documentos legislativos que regulamentam a ocupação e o cultivo da terra no Brasil, com o objetivo central de compreender os modos de nomeação dos diferentes atores/atrizes da agricultura presentes na legislação. Com base na análise de documentos da legislação agrária brasileira, em nível federal, que regulam a exploração da terra, regimentam direitos e imposições e regem a implementação de políticas públicas destinadas à agricultura do país, evidenciamos a relevância destes documentos para a manutenção do status quo da concentração de terras, da necessidade de defesa de iniciativas que promovam a distribuição de terras no país e a imprescindibilidade de fomentar políticas públicas que auxiliem na minimização de iniquidades no cultivo da terra e na geração de riquezas.


Based on the dialogue with Discursive Social Psychology and Social Constructionism, we analyzed the discursive practices manifested in legislative documents that regulate the occupation and cultivation of land in Brazil, with the central objective to understand the ways of naming the different actors / actresses of agriculture present in this legislation. Based on the analysis of the Brazilian agrarian issue and the examination of the federal legislation that regulates land use, regulate rights and impositions and govern the implementation of public policies aimed at the country's agriculture, we highlight the relevance of these documents for maintaining the status quo of land concentration, the need to defend initiatives that promote land distribution in the country and the need to promote public policies that help to minimize inequities in land cultivation and wealth generation.
