RESUMO

Semiconductor single-walled carbon nanotube (s-SWNT) networks have gained prominence in electronic devices due to their cost-effectiveness, relatively production-naturality, and satisfactory performance. Configuration, density, and resistance of SWNT-SWNT junctions are considered crucial factors influencing the overall conductivity of s-SWNT networks. In this study, we present a method for inferring the lower bounds of the SWNT-SWNT junction resistance in s-SWNT networks based on conductive atomic force microscopy TUNA images. This method further enables the proposal of a classification for SWNT-SWNT junctions based on the current behavior relative to their surroundings. The three types of SWNT-SWNT junctions are denoted as (i) true contact (T), (ii) poor contact (P), and (iii) false contact (F). Of them, the true and poor contacts, respectively, represent good and poor electrical contact for the subject SWNT-SWNT junctions whose electrical conductivity hardly improves under external tip pressure, while that of the false contact can be further improved by external pressure. Statistical analysis demonstrates that while T-type junctions make a significant contribution to network conductivity, their proportion accounts for only approximately 40%. The P-type and F-type junctions, which constitute over 60% of the total, may be a contributing factor that constrains the overall conductivity of the s-SWNT networks. The height ratio of the junction to the sum of two SWNTs was also observed to exhibit variations among the three types. Finally, we propose a three-dimensional model to elucidate the formation mechanism underlying each type of junction. The present study provides insights into the performance of spontaneous contacts between s-SWNTs in the networks, and the systematic image acquisition and junction classification processes may provide support for future advancements in these networks.

RESUMO

Background: There is an incomplete understanding of fluctuations in vitamin D (VitD) concentration during pregnancy among Chinese women. Furthermore, previous research has yielded conflicting results in this area. This study aims to investigate the changes in VitD status and deficiency in Chinese pregnant women across various age groups, gestational weeks, and as well as seasonal variations through conducting a large-scale survey. Methods: A toal of 11,220 Chinese pregnant women between 2021 and April 2023 were included in this study. Generalized additive models (GAM), stratified analysis, and restricted cubic splines (RCS) were used to analyze changes in VitD status and deficiency risk during pregnancy. Results: Of the participants, 45.2% had deficient concentration of 25-hydroxyvitamin D. VitD concentration and deficiency rate do not show linear changes with age and gestational weeks. With increasing gestational weeks, VitD concentration rapidly increased in women with gestational age < 20 weeks, remained stable between 20 and 30 weeks, and decreased beyond 30 weeks; however, the odds of VitD deficiency showed three different patterns: a rapid decline, a stable period, and a mild increase, respectively. Based on the stratified regression analysis, VitD deficiency odds increased by 16% with each additional week of gestation in pregnant women with gestational age > 30 weeks, OR = 1.16 (1.10-1.22), p < 0.001. Interaction effect analysis indicated that pregnant women over 35 years with gestational weeks between 20 and 30 had the lowest odds of VitD deficiency. Conclusion: VitD concentration undergo three phases during pregnancy: rapid increase, plateau, and subsequent decrease. VitD deficiency odds was highest in pregnant women under 25 with gestational ages <20 and lowest in pregnant women over 35 with gestational ages between 20 and 30. The odds of deficiency increase slightly in pregnant women with gestational ages beyond 30 weeks, indicating that they may require additional VitD supplementation.

RESUMO

Two undescribed polyketides canecines A-B, one unreported cyclopentenone canecine C, together with 12 known compounds were isolated from an extract of the fungus Penicillium canescens DJJ-1. Their structures were elucidated by detailed analysis of spectroscopic data, NMR calculations with dJ-DP4 or DP4+, and their absolute configurations were further determined by quantum chemical calculations of ECD spectra or X-crystallography. Canecine A was a grisan polyketide featuring a dimethyltetrahydro-4H-furo[2,3-b]pyran. Canecine A exhibited significant inhibitory activity against Candida albicans with an MIC value of 1 µg/mL and showed inhibitory effect on nitric oxide production in LPS-activated RAW264.7 macrophages. These results enrich the structural diversities of polyketides from endophytic fungi.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Glioma, the most common malignant brain tumor, leads to high recurrence rates and disabilities in patients. Pyroptosis is an inflammasomes-induced programmed cell death in response to infection or chemotherapy. However, the role of pyroptosis in glioma has not yet been elucidated. METHODS: RNA-seq data and clinical information of 660 gliomas and 847 samples were downloaded from the TCGA and CGGA, respectively. Then, data of 104 normal brain tissues was retrieved from the GTEx for differential expression analysis. Twelve pairs of peritumoral tissue and glioma samples were used for validation. Gene alteration status of differentially expressed pyroptosis-related regulators in gliomas was detected in cBioPortal algorithm. Consensus clustering was employed to classify gliomas based on differentially expressed pyroptosis-related regulators. Subsequently, a PS-signature was constructed using LASSO-congressional analysis for clinical application. The immune infiltration of glioma microenvironment (TME) was explored using ESTIMATE, CIBERSORT, and the other immune signatures. RESULTS: cBioPortal algorithm revealed alteration of these regulators was correlated to better prognosis of gliomas. Then, our study showed that pyroptosis-related regulators can be used to sort out patients into two clusters with distinct prognostic outcome and immune status. Moreover, a PS-signature for predicting the prognosis of glioma patients was developed based on the identified subtypes. The high PS-score group showed more abundant inflammatory cell infiltration and stronger immune response, but with poorer prognosis of gliomas. CONCLUSION: The findings of this study provide a therapeutic basis for future research on pyroptosis and unravel the relationship between pyroptosis and glioma prognosis. The risk signature can be utilized as a prognostic biomarker for glioma.

RESUMO

A chemical investigation of the endophytic fungus Diaporthe destruens from the Hernandiaceae plant Illigera orbiculata C. Y. Wu collected from southern Yunnan Province, China, led to the isolation of six undescribed compounds, including two azaphilone analogs, which are a pair of epimers (13R-hydroxy-chermesinone A and 13S-hydroxy-chermesinone A); a pyrrole derivative (1-(4-(methoxymethyl)-1H-pyrrol-3-yl)ethan-1-one); an isoindolone derivative (4-hydroxy-6-methoxyisoindolin-1-one); a benzylbenzene derivative (destruensine A) and a conjectural fragment of polyketide ((2R,4R)-2-(methoxymethyl)pentane-1,4-diol) along with nine known compounds. Their structures were elucidated by spectroscopic methods and HRESIMS, and the absolute configurations were further confirmed by electronic circular dichroism (ECD) and chemical derivatization. The antimicrobial activities, anti-acetylcholinesterase activities, antiproliferation, and NO production inhibitory effects of compounds 1-15 were evaluated.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Although workplace bullying is common among medical workers, its associations with insomnia severity and subjective wellbeing are still unclear. Our study aimed to investigate these associations among resident doctors who are more vulnerable to both workplace bullying and insomnia. METHODS: We conducted a cross-sectional survey of 1,877 resident doctors from 12 hospitals across 7 administrative regions in China. Workplace bullying, resilience, insomnia severity, and subjective wellbeing were evaluated by the Negative Acts Questionnaire-Revised (NAQ-R), the Chinese version of the Connor-Davidson Resilience Scale-10-item (CD-RISC-10), the Insomnia Severity Index, and the Index of Wellbeing, respectively. Further, a logistic regression analysis was used to analyze factors associated with insomnia. In addition, structural equation modeling (SEM) was applied to examine the associations among workplace bullying, resilience, insomnia severity, and subjective wellbeing. RESULTS: In the present study, the rates of workplace bullying and insomnia were 51.4 and 33.2%, respectively. Workplace bullying (OR = 1.056, p < 0.001) and poor resilience (OR = 0.957, p < 0.001) were the factors associated with insomnia after controlling the confounding variables. Further, SEM of the present study revealed a direct relationship between workplace bullying and subjective wellbeing (std-ß = -0.223, p < 0.001). In addition, insomnia severity (std-ß = -0.071, p < 0.001) and resilience (std-ß = -0.092, p < 0.001) can individually or collectively (std-ß = -0.008, p < 0.001) mediate the indirect associations between workplace bullying and subjective wellbeing. However, resilience was found to act as a moderator only in the direct association between workplace bullying and subjective wellbeing. CONCLUSIONS: Workplace bullying and poor resilience were the factors associated with insomnia. Further, greater resilience acted as a buffer in the direct association between workplace bullying and subjective wellbeing, whereas both insomnia severity and resilience were critical mediators in the indirect associations between them.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Red cell distribution width level may have relations with the incidence and prognosis of cerebrovascular diseases. Recent researches have reported that red cell distribution width level was linked to the occurrence of stroke. However, the predicted effect of red cell distribution width in stroke is still disputed. We sought to assess the relationship between red cell distribution width and risk of stroke in this meta-analysis. METHODS: Relevant studies were picked out from the databases of Embase, PubMed, and Cochrane Library. Hazard ratio with 95% confidence interval was chosen to analyze each trial, which was extracted from results of the highest and lowest red cell distribution width group. Funnel plots, Begg and Egger test were used to assess publication bias in the meta-analysis. Stata(12.0) was utilized to perform statistic analysis in the process. RESULTS: A total of 6 studies with 5783 patients were included in this meta-analysis. The results showed that red cell distribution width level in patients with stroke was significantly higher than it in those without stroke (HR = 1.34, 95%CI:1.23-1.47, P < .001), in particular ischemic stroke(HR = 1.34,95% confidence interval:1.1-1.54, P < .001). There was no evidence of heterogeneity across the studies (P = .355, I = 5.53%). CONCLUSIONS: The higher red cell distribution width level was associated with an increased risk of stroke, especially ischemic infarction.
