RESUMO
OBJECTIVES: A network meta-analysis (NMA) was applied to compare the therapeutic effect of different acupuncture methods on temporomandibular disorder (TMD). MATERIALS AND METHODS: A computer retrieval was carried out in the English databases of Cochrane, PubMed, Embase and Web of Science, as well as the Chinese databases of CNKI, Wanfang and VIP for randomized controlled trials on the effect of acupuncture on TMD, with a retrieval deadline of January 21, 2024. Data analysis was conducted using R software and Bayesian method. The pain score served as the primary outcome measure, with the mouth opening as the secondary outcome measure. RESULTS: Thirty-five articles were included in the analysis, involving 1937 TMD patients. The NMA results suggested that DN-PT had the best effect on relieving pain and improving mouth opening. (Description of all abbreviations in Supplementary Material S3). CONCLUSIONS: Based on the available evidence, the results of the NMA suggest that DN-PT is most effective in relieving TMD pain and increasing mouth opening. However, due to the fact that some acupuncture therapies are only reported in a small number of research reports, this may lead to an increase in the randomness of the results and a decrease in the reliability.
RESUMO
PURPOSE: To compare the effectiveness of keratinized mucosa (KM) augmentation with different techniques for the treatment of dental implants based on risk assessment. METHODS: Thirty-nine patients who underwent KM augmentation at implant sites in the posterior mandible were included. Three techniques were used based on anatomy-guided risk assessment: an apically positioned flap (APF) alone, an APF plus a free gingival graft (APF plus FGG), and an APF plus a collagen matrix (APF plus CM). Clinically effective KM augmentation was defined as remaining KM ≥ 2 mm after the intervention. The effective rate, implant/prosthesis survival rates, and bone/soft tissue parameters were analyzed. The correlation between local anatomical characteristics and different techniques was also determined. The associations between the effectiveness of KM augmentation and related factors were analyzed using a linear model. RESULTS: Overall, 74 sites received KM augmentation in the posterior mandible, for an effective rate of 94.6% at the 1-year follow-up and 93.2% at the 5-year follow-up. The KM width in the APF plus FGG group (3.85 ± 1.22 mm) was greater than that in the APF alone (3.05 ± 0.90 mm) (P = 0.016) and APF plus CM (3.21 ± 1.17 mm) groups (P = 0.038) at 5 years post-surgery. There was no significant difference in the effective/ineffective outcomes at the 1-year or 5-year follow-up among the three groups. CONCLUSIONS: Comparable effective outcomes were achieved with three KM augmentation techniques following the decision-making criterion based on risk assessment.
RESUMO
BACKGROUND: Bone loss of residual alveolar ridges is a great challenge in the field of dental implantology. Deproteinized bovine bone mineral (DBBM) is commonly used for bone regeneration, however, it is loose and difficult to handle in clinical practice. Hyaluronic acid (HA) shows viscoelasticity, permeability and excellent biocompatibility. The aim of this study is to evaluate whether high-molecular-weight (MW) HA combined with DBBM could promote new bone formation in rat calvarial critical size defects (CSDs). MATERIALS AND METHODS: Rat calvarial CSDs (5 mm in diameter) were created. Rats (n = 45) were randomly divided into 3 groups: HA-DBBM compound grafting group, DBBM particles only grafting group and no graft group. Defect healing was assessed by hematoxylin-eosin staining and histomorphometry 2, 4 and 8 weeks postop, followed by Micro-CT scanning 8 weeks postop. Statistical analyses were performed by ANOVA followed by Tukey's post hoc test with P < 0.05 indicating statistical significance. RESULTS: All rats survived after surgery. Histomorphometric evaluation revealed that at 2, 4 and 8 weeks postop, the percentage of newly formed bone was significantly greater in HA-DBBM compound grafting group than in the other two groups. Consistently, Micro-CT assessment revealed significantly more trabecular bone (BV/TV and Tb.N) in HA-DBBM compound group than in the other two groups, respectively (P < 0.05). Moreover, the trabecular bone was significantly more continuous (Tb.Pf) in HA-DBBM compound group than in the other two groups, respectively (P < 0.05). CONCLUSION: HA not only significantly promoted new bone formation in rats calvarial CSDs but also improved the handling ability of DBBM.

PURPOSE: We aimed to explore the causal relationship between human serum metabolites and angina pectoris. METHODS: This study used two-sample Mendelian randomization (MR) analysis to assess the association between 486 serum metabolites and angina pectoris. The analytical methods employed to reduce study bias included inverse variance weighted, MR-Egger, and weighted median method. A comprehensive sensitivity analysis was performed using the leave-one-out method, while instrumental variable pleiotropy was tested with MR-Pleiotropy RESidual Sum and Outlier. Metabolic pathways of angina-associated metabolites were analysed on the MetaboAnalyst metabolomics analysis tool platform. RESULTS: In this study, 42 serum metabolites were found to be strongly associated with angina pectoris. They mainly belonged to seven groups: amino acids, carbohydrates, cofactors and vitamins, lipids, nucleotides, unknown metabolites, and exogenous substances. Pipecolate posed the highest risk for the development of angina pectoris among the 42 serum metabolites. The main metabolic pathways associated with angina pectoris were glycine, serine, threonine metabolism, primary bile acid biosynthesis, and caffeine metabolism. CONCLUSION: We identified 25 high-risk and 17 protective human serum metabolites associated with angina pectoris. Their associated major metabolic pathways were also determined. The serum metabolite pipecolate was significantly and positively correlated with the risk of angina pectoris. This finding may serve as a valuable reference for testing serum markers associated with angina pectoris.
RESUMO
BACKGROUND: Maternal parenting self-efficacy plays a critical role in facilitating positive parenting practices and successful adaption to motherhood. The Perceived Maternal Parenting Self-Efficacy Scale (PMPS-E), as a task-specific measure, confirms its psychometric properties in cultural contexts. Compared with other tools, the advantages of the PMPS-E are as follows: (i) specific context or time period during the lifespan of a child, (ii) explicitly assess parenting self-efficacy across a diverse enough range of parenting tasks or activities during the perinatal/postnatal period and (iii) having robust psychometric properties. The aim of this study was to translate and determine the psychometric properties of the PMPS-E among Chinese postpartum women (C-PMPS-E). METHOD: The cross-cultural adaptation process followed Beaton et al.'s intercultural debugging guidelines. A total of 471 women were included to establish the psychometric properties of the C-PMPS-E. Mothers were asked to complete the C-PMPS-E, Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale (EPDS), the Generalized Anxiety Disorder-7 (GAD-7) and several demographic questions. The psychometric testing of the C-PMPS-E was established through item analysis, construct validity and internal consistency reliability. RESULTS: Item analysis showed that the critical ratios of all items were greater than 3 between the low-score group and high-score group, and all item-total correlation coefficients were greater than 0.4. The fit indices showed that the original correlated four-factor model of C-PMPS-E was observed to be an excellent fit to the data. The PMPS-E was negatively correlated with the EPDS and GAD-7 demonstrating its discriminant validity. As expected, no significant correlation was found between PMPS-E total or subscale scores and mothers' age. In addition, statistically significant differences for parity were detected for C-PMPS-E total and subscale scores with multipara having higher scores. This was taken as further evidence of the scale known-groups discriminant validity. In terms of internal consistency, the Cronbach's alpha of the C-PMPS-E total scale was 0.950, and subscales ranged from 0.76 to 0.89. Furthermore, a ROC curve analysis was conducted to establish the ability of the C-PMPS-E to distinguish between symptoms of depression and symptoms of anxiety. A cut-off value of 55 was identified that resulted in good specificity and fair sensitivity. CONCLUSION: The C-PMPS-E is a reliable and valid tool to assess maternal parenting self-efficacy in a Chinese context.

Solid-state lithium metal batteries (SSLMBs) are promising candidates for safe and high-energy-density next-generation applications. However, harmful interfacial decomposition and uneven Li deposition lead to poor ion transport, a short cycle life, and battery failure. Herein, we propose a novel poly(ethylene oxide) (PEO)-based composite solid electrolyte (CSE) containing succinonitrile (SN) and zinc oxide (ZnO) nanoparticles (NPs), which improves interface stability through a dual mechanism. (1) By anchoring bis(trifluoromethanesulfonyl)imide (TFSI) anions to ZnO, a reliable solid electrolyte interface (SEI) later with abundant LiF can be obtained to inhibit interface decomposition. (2) The immobilization of escaping SN molecules in the SEI layer by ZnO NPs promotes the self-polymerization of SN and facilitates charge transfer through the interface. As a result, the ion conductivity of the stainless steel-symmetrical battery reaches 1.1 × 10-4 S cm-1 at room temperature, and a LiFePO4 (LFP) full battery exhibits ultrahigh stability (800 cycles) at 0.5 C. Thus, the present study provides valuable insights for the development of advanced PEO-based SSLMBs.
RESUMO
BACKGROUND: Early-onset bone dysplasia is a common manifestation of hypophosphatasia (HPP), an autosomal inherited disease caused by ALPL mutation. ALPL ablation induces prototypical premature bone ageing characteristics, resulting in impaired osteogenic differentiation capacity of human bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells (hBMMSCs). As angiogenesis is tightly coupled with osteogenesis, it also plays a necessary role in sustaining bone homeostasis. We have previously observed a decrease in expression of angiogenesis marker gene CD31 in the metaphysis of long bone in Alpl+/- mice. However, the role of ALPL in regulation of angiogenesis in bone has remained largely unknown. METHODS: Exosomes derived from Normal and HPP hBMMSCs were isolated and identified by ultracentrifugation, transmission electron microscopy, and nanoparticle size measurement. The effects of ALPL on the angiogenic capacity of hBMMSCs from HPP patients were assessed by immunofluorescence, tube formation, wound healing and migration assay. exo-ELISA and Western Blot were used to evaluate the exosomes secretion of hBMMSCs from HPP, and the protein expression of VEGF, PDGFBB, Angiostatin and Endostatin in exosomes respectively. RESULTS: We verified that ALPL ablation resulted in impaired pro-angiogenic capacity of hBMMSCs, accounting for reduced migration and tube formation of human umbilical vein endothelial cells, as the quantities and proteins composition of exosomes varied with ALPL expression. Mechanistically, loss of function of ALPL enhanced ATP release. Additional ATP, in turn, led to markedly elevated level of ATP receptor P2X7, which consequently promoted exosomes secretion, resulting in a decreased capacity to promote angiogenesis. Conversely, inhibition of P2X7 increased the angiogenic induction capacity by preventing excessive release of anti-angiogenic exosomes in ALPL deficient-hBMMSCs. CONCLUSION: The ALPL-ATP axis regulates the pro-angiogenic ability of hBMMSCs by controlling exosomes secretion through the P2X7 receptor. Thus, P2X7 may be proved as an effective therapeutic target for accelerating neovascularization in ALPL-deficient bone defects.

Background: Polygonatum cyrtonema Hua is a traditional Chinese medicinal food herb which can regulate the liver and Qi, nourish the heart and blood, moisten the lungs and nourish the kidneys with the potential to treat emotional diseases. However, few studies have explored the effects of Polygonatum cyrtonema Hua on postpartum depression. Therefore, we investigated whether processed Polygonatum cyrtonema Hua could improve postpartum depression in rat models by regulating monoamines and hormones. Methods: Female Sprague-Dawley rats were randomized into normal control (0.9%Nacl), Sham operation (0.9%Nacl), postpartum depression model (0.9%Nacl), fluoxetine (2.5 mg/kg Fluoxetine), low, medium and high dose of processed Polygonatum cyrtonema Hua (2.5 g/kg, 5 g/kg, 10 g/kg) groups. Rats in these groups received drug intervention, and then subjected to Open-field test and Forced swimming test. Brain tissues and serum samples were collected and used to quantify levels of monoamines, hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis and serum Estradiol. The status of neuronal cells in hippocampus 1 region was examined through hematoxylin-eosin staining, whereas expression of estrogen receptor α and ß was detected by immunohistochemistry. Results: Rats in the model group showed decreased mobility time, the disorder of neuronal cells in hippocampus 1 area, and decreased concentration of 5-hydroxytryptamine and dopamine in brain tissue, norepinephrine and estradiol in serum as well as estrogen receptor α and ß expression. They also exhibited increased adrenocorticotropic hormone, corticosterone and corticotropin releasing hormone in serum. However, the treatment with processed Polygonatum cyrtonem Hua or fluoxetine reversed the above abnormalities. Conclusion: The H group showed significant improvement in postpartum depression in rats, and processed Polygonatum cyrtonema Hua can be used as a developing drug for the prevention or treatment of depression.
RESUMO
Objective: To investigate the ï¼75 G/A single-nucleotide polymorphism in the promoter region of apolipoprotein A1 gene (apoA1) and its association with gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) in pregnant women and to provide references for the exploration in the molecular genetic basis of GDM. Methods: A total of 626 GDM patients and 1022 normal pregnant women, ie, the controls, were included in the study. The genotyping of apoA1 ï¼75 G/A polymorphism was performed by polymerase chain reaction and restriction fragment length polymorphism (PCR-RFLP) analysis. Total cholesterol (TC), triglycerides (TG), high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C), low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C), and glucose (Glu) were measured by enzymatic methods. Plasma insulin (INS) was measured by chemiluminescence immunoassay. The protein levels of apoA1 and apoB were measured by the turbidimetric immunoassay. Results: Allele frequencies of G and A were 0.718 and 0.282 in the GDM group and 0.713 and 0.287 in the control group, respectively. Distribution of the genotype frequencies was found to be in Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium in both the GDM and control groups. There was no significant difference in the frequencies of alleles G and A and the genotypes of apoA1 ï¼75 G/A polymorphism between the GDM and the control group (P>0.05). In the GDM group, the carriers with the genotype AA were associated with significantly higher levels of TC, HDL-C, and apoA1 than those with genotypes GG and GA did (all P<0.05). After the GDM patients were divided into obese and non-obese subgroups, the genotype-related apoA1 variation was observed only in obese patients, while the genotype-related TC and HDL-C variations were evident in non-obese patients (P<0.05). In the control group, carriers of genotypes AA and GA had higher systolic blood pressure (SBP) and HDL-C than the carriers of genotype GG did (all P<0.05). Carriers of genotypes AA had significantly lower Glu levels than carriers of genotypes GG and GA did (P<0.05). The control subjects were further divided into subgroups according to their body mass index (BMI). Analysis of the subgroups showed that AA carriers were associated with higher SBP levels in the obese control women only, while lower Glu levels were evident in both obese and non-obese control women. Conclusion: These results suggest that ï¼75 G/A polymorphism in the apoA1 gene is not associated with GDM. However, the genetic variation is closed associated with the plasma apoA1, HDL-C, and TC levels in GDM patients and plasma HDL-C, Glu, and SBP levels in the control subjects. The apoA1 variant-associated lipids and SBP variation is BMI dependent in both groups.

The interaction and mechanism of landslide spatial patterns and river canyon landforms are significant for understanding geomorphic evolution in intensive tectonic alpine environments. This study focuses on the Three Parallel Rivers Area (TPRA) in the southeastern Tibetan Plateau encompassing three parallel rivers (the Nujiang, Lancang, and Jinsha Rivers), to examine the synergistic evolution of geomorphic features and landslides. The analysis revealed a pattern of landslide aggregation in the river valley characterized by the sequence Nujiang > Lancang > Jinsha Rivers. This pattern aligns closely with the distribution of geomorphic indices (local relief, surface erosion index, and threshold slope gradient) in the valleys. As local relief, normalized surface erosion index and normalized threshold slope gradient increase, the mean values of normalized landslide area density (NLAD) rise from around 0.11 to 0.39, 0.16 to 0.48, and 0.10 to 0.21, respectively. Concurrently, the mean values of normalized frequency of landslide dams (NFLD) increase from around 0.05 to 0.24, 0.12 to 0.22, and 0.02 to 0.17, respectively. Additionally, knickpoints could induce upstream suppression and downstream promotion of landslides showcasing the feedback of landslides on the valley landscape. Our findings indicate that the landform formation process in the southeastern Tibetan Plateau orogen is intricately linked to a substantial landsliding response and the observed mass movements vividly mirror the landform formation pattern. These results hold potential implications for understanding the dynamic equilibrium between uplift and surface erosion in the region. This study enhances our understanding of the interaction and mechanisms of landslides and valley landforms.
RESUMO
BACKGROUND: Clinical probing is commonly recommended to evaluate peri-implant conditions. In a situation of peri-implant mucositis or peri-implantitis, the peri-implant seal healing from the disruption of soft tissue caused by probing has not yet been studied. This study aimed to investigate soft tissue healing after standardized clinical probing around osseointegrated implants with peri-implant mucositis in a dog model. METHODS: Three transmucosal implants in each hemi-mandible of six dogs randomly assigned to the peri-implant healthy group or peri-implant mucositis group were probed randomly in the mesial or distal site as probing groups (PH or PM), the cross-sectional opposite sites as unprobed control groups. Histomorphometric measurements of implant shoulder (IS)-most coronal level of alveolar bone contact to the implant surface (BCI), apical termination of the junctional epithelium (aJE)-BCI, mucosal margin (MM)-BCI, and MM-aJE were performed at 1 day, 1 week, and 2 weeks after probing. Apoptosis, proliferation, proinflammatory cytokines, and matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) of peri-implant soft tissue were estimated by immunofluorescent analysis. RESULTS: In the PM group, apical migration of junctional epithelium was revealed by significantly decreased aJE-BCI from 1 day to 2 weeks in comparison to unprobed sites (p < 0.05), while no significant differences were found in the PH group. Immunofluorescent analysis showed higher levels of interleukin-1ß (IL-1ß), IL-6, tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α), MMP-1, and MMP-8, together with exaggerated apoptosis and proliferation of peri-implant soft tissue in the PM group. CONCLUSION: Within the limitations, standardized clinical probing might lead to apical migration of the junctional epithelium in a situation of peri-implant mucositis.

OBJECTIVE: Acupuncture has shown promise in treating neck pain. Clinical trials have shown mixed results, possibly due to heterogeneous methodologies and the lack of knowledge regarding underlying brain circuit mechanism of action. In this study, we investigated the specific contribution of the serotonergic system in treating neck pain, and the specific brain circuits involved. METHODS: A total of 99 patients with chronic neck pain (CNP) were randomized to receive true acupuncture (TA) or sham acupuncture (SA) 3 times weekly for 4 weeks. Patients with CNP in each group were assessed for primary outcomes by measuring the Visual Analog Scale (VAS) and the duration of each attack; secondary outcomes were measured using the Neck Disability Index (NDI), Northwick Park Neck Pain Questionnaire (NPQ), McGill Pain Questionnaire (MPQ), Self-rating Anxiety Scale (SAS), Self-rating Depression Scale (SDS) and the 12-item Short Form Quality Life Scale (SF-12); levels of functional circuits connectivity were assessed using resting-state functional magnetic resonance imaging in the dorsal (DR) and median (MR) raphe nucleus, before and after undergoing acupuncture. RESULTS: Patients receiving TA showed more extensive symptom improvement compared with SA. Regarding the primary outcomes, changes observed in the TA group were as follows: VAS = 16.9 mm (p < 0.001) and the duration of each attack = 4.30 h (p < 0.001); changes in the SA group: VAS = 5.41 mm (p = 0.138) and the duration of each attack = 2.06 h (p = 0.058). Regarding the secondary outcomes, changes in the TA group: NDI = 7.99 (p < 0.001), NPQ = 10.82 (p < 0.001), MPQ = 4.23 (p < 0.001), SAS = 5.82 (p < 0.001), SDS = 3.67 (p = 0.003), and SF-12 = 3.04 (p < 0.001); changes in the SA group: NDI = 2.97 (p = 0.138), NPQ = 5.24 (p = 0.035) and MPQ = 2.90 (p = 0.039), SAS = 1.48 (p = 0.433), SDS = 2.39 (p = 0.244), and SF-12 = 2.19 (p = 0.038). The modulatory effect of TA exhibited increased functional connectivity (FC) between the DR and thalamus, between the MR and parahippocampal gyrus, amygdala, and insula, with decreased FC between the DR and lingual gyrus and middle frontal gyrus, between the MR and middle frontal gyrus. Furthermore, changes in the DR-related circuit were specifically associated with the intensity and duration of pain, and the MR-related circuit was correlated with the quality of life with CNP. CONCLUSION: These results demonstrated the effectiveness of TA in treating neck pain and suggested that it regulates CNP by reconfiguring the function of the raphe nucleus-related serotonergic system.

Protein lysine acetylation is a critical post-translational modification involved in a wide range of biological processes. To date, about 20,000 acetylation sites of Homo sapiens were identified through mass spectrometry-based proteomic technology, but more than 95% of them have unclear functional annotations because of the lack of existing prioritization strategy to assess the functional importance of the acetylation sites on large scale. Hence, we established a lysine acetylation functional evaluating model (LAFEM) by considering eight critical features surrounding lysine acetylation site to high-throughput estimate the functional importance of given acetylation sites. This was achieved by selecting one of the random forest models with the best performance in 10-fold cross-validation on undersampled training dataset. The global analysis demonstrated that the molecular environment of acetylation sites with high acetylation functional scores (AFSs) mainly had the features of larger solvent-accessible surface area, stronger hydrogen bonding-donating abilities, near motif and domain, higher homology, and disordered degree. Importantly, LAFEM performed well in validation dataset and acetylome, showing good accuracy to screen out fitness directly relevant acetylation sites and assisting to explain the core reason for the difference between biological models from the perspective of acetylome. We further used cellular experiments to confirm that, in nuclear casein kinase and cyclin-dependent kinase substrate 1, acetyl-K35 with higher AFS was more important than acetyl-K9 with lower AFS in the proliferation of A549 cells. LAFEM provides a prioritization strategy to large scale discover the fitness directly relevant acetylation sites, which constitutes an unprecedented resource for better understanding of functional acetylome.

Objective: The purpose of this study was to investigate the pathways by which health literacy (HL), social support, and self-efficacy influence self-management behaviors of pregnant women with Gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) and the interrelationships between the variables. Methods: A total of 565 pregnant women with GDM was recruited. The Demographic Characteristics Form, Health Literacy Scale, Perceived Social Support Scale, General Self-efficacy Scale and GDM Self-management Behavior Scale were used for data collection. Descriptive statistics, zero-ordered correlation analysis, and multiple linear regression analysis were performed on the variables; Structural Equation Model (SEM) were constructed for pathway analysis. Results: A positive correlation was found between health literacy, social support, self-efficacy, and self-management behaviors among pregnant women with GDM after adjusting for age, education level, income level, work status, parity, and family history of diabetes (r ranging from 0.203 to 0.533). A further multiple linear regression analysis showed that functional HL, communicative HL, critical HL, social support, and self-efficacy were all independent influences on self-management behaviors and accounted for 36.3% of the variance. Communicative HL and critical HL explained the strongest self-management behaviors (ß = 0.316 and 0.255, respectively, p < 0.001). The SEM model was suitable for χ2/DF = 2.860, RMSEA = 0.060, IFI = 0.953, TLI = 0.943, and CFI = 0.952. The results showed direct positive effects of health literacy on self-management behaviors and self-efficacy, direct positive effects of social support on health literacy and self-efficacy. Social support and self-efficacy have had no significant direct impact on self-management behaviors, but social support may indirectly influence self-management behaviors through the health literacy mediation role. Conclusion: Healthcare providers should pay attention to the positive impacts of health literacy and social support on self-management behaviors of pregnant women with GDM. Improving the health literacy level of pregnant women with GDM should be the key point of intervention in practice, and the social support system should be fully mobilized to enhance emotional support and life support to promote the improvement of self-management behaviors.

Objective: To investigate the apolipoprotein C-3 (APOC3) gene Sst â polymorphism and its relationship with changes in serum lipids in patients with gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM). Methods: A total of 630 pregnant women with GDM and 1027 normal pregnant controls were covered in the study. The genotype and allele frequencies of APOC3 Sst â polymorphism were analyzed by polymerase chain reaction and restriction fragment length polymorphism (PCR-RFLP). Total cholesterol (TC), triglyceride (TG), high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C), low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C), and glucose (Glu) were measured by enzymatic methods. Plasma insulin (INS) was measured by chemiluminescence. Apolipoproteins A 1 (apoA1) and B (apoB) levels were measured by turbidimetric immunoassay. Results: The allele frequencies of S1 and S2 of the APOC3 polymorphism at the Sstâ locus were 0.704 and 0.296 in the GDM group and 0.721 and 0.279 in the control group, respectively. There was no significant difference in genotype frequency and allele frequency of APOC3 Sst â polymorphism between the GDM and the control groups ( P>0.05). In the GDM group, those with S2S2 and S1S2 genotypes had higher plasma HDL-C levels and lower atherogenic index (AI) values than those with S1S1 genotype did, with the differences being statistically significant (all P<0.05). GDM patients were then divided into obesity and non-obesity subgroups. Further subgroup analysis showed that the association of APOC3 genotype with changes in HDL-C levels was observed only in obese GDM patients, while the association of APOC3 genotype with changes in AI values was observed in both obese and nonobese patients. In addition, in obese GDM patients, those with S2S2 genotype had significantly higher plasma TG levels than those with S1S1 and S1S2 genotypes did ( P<0.05 and P<0.01, respectively). In non-obese GDM patients, those with S2S2 genotype had significantly lower apoB/apoA1 ratio than S2S2 carriers did ( P<0.05). No genotype-related effect on lipid and apolipoprotein variations was evident in the normal controls. Conclusion: APOC3 Sst â polymorphism in GDM patients is associated with HDL-C and TG levels as well as AI value and apoB/apoA1 ratio. The changes in lipid levels and apolipoprotein ratio showed BMI-dependent features. However, association between polymorphism at the locus and the development of GDM was not observed.

BACKGROUND: Increasing evidence show that women across the world face unacceptable mistreatment during childbirth. Person-centered maternity care is fundamental and essential to quality of healthcare services. The aim of this study was to translate and determine the psychometric properties of the Person-Centered Maternity Care (PCMC) Scale among Chinese postpartum women. METHODS: A cross-sectional study was conducted among 1235 post-partum women in China. The cross-cultural adaptation process followed the Beaton intercultural debugging guidelines. A total of 1235 women were included to establish the psychometric properties of the PCMC. A demographic characteristics form and the PCMC were used for data collection. The psychometric properties of the PCMC were evaluated by examining item analysis, exploratory factor analysis, known-groups discriminant validity, and internal consistency. RESULTS: The number of extracted common factors was limited to three (dignity & respect, communication & autonomy, supportive care), explaining a total variance of 40.8%. Regarding internal consistency, the Cronbach's alpha coefficient and split-half reliability of the full PCMC score were 0.989 and 0.852, respectively. CONCLUSIONS: The Chinese version of the PCMC is a reliable and valid tool to assess person-centered care during childbirth in China.

The paper summarizes the academic thought and clinical experience of professor LI De-hua in treatment of facial nerve injury after total parotidectomy with blade needle based on jingjin (muscle region of meridian, sinew/fascia) theory. This disease is located at muscle regions of hand-/foot-three yang meridians; and the sinew/fascia adhesion is its basic pathogenesis, manifested by "transversely-distributed collaterals" and "knotted tendons". In treatment, the knotted tendons are taken as the points. Using the relaxation technique of blade needle, the lesions of sinews/fascia are dissected and removed to release the stimulation or compression to the nerves and vessels so that the normal function of sinews/fascia can be restored.

Objective: This study aims to translate the Health Professional Communication Skills Scale (HP-CSS) into Chinese and assess its psychometric properties. Methods: A total of 836 healthcare professionals were recruited. The demographic characteristics form and HP-CSS were used for data collection. The psychometric properties of HP-CSS were evaluated by examining item analysis, construct validity, known-group discriminant validity, internal consistency, and split-half reliability. Results: In terms of item analysis, the critical ratio (CR) of 18 items was both >3 (CR ranging from 9.937 to 28.816), and the score of each item was positively correlated with the total score (r ranging from 0.357 to 0.778, P < 0.001). The fit indices showed that the original correlated four-factor model of HP-CSS was adequate: χ2 =722.801; df = 126; χ2/df = 5.737; RMSEA = 0.075; CFI = 0.923; NNFI = 0.908; TLI = 0.906; IFI = 0.923. In terms of known-group discriminant validity, the HP-CSS total score was related to gender, occupation, work years, and communication skill training. Cronbach's α coefficient was 0.922, and the split-half reliability was 0.865 for the total scale. Conclusion: The Chinese version of the HP-CSS is a reliable and valid instrument to evaluate communication skills among healthcare professionals in China.
RESUMO
BACKGROUND: A digital workflow for implant-supported fixed complete prostheses (ISFCP) using photogrammetry (PG), virtual articulator (VA), and virtual facebow (VF) data remains a challenge. METHODS: The novel ISFCP technique included four steps: (1) formation of a dynamic virtual patient, (2) integration of PG data, (3) fabrication of a diagnostic ISFCP, and (4) fabrication of a definitive ISFCP and test of the deviation. RESULTS: Dynamic virtual patients were formed by integrating PG, VA, and VF data. The cumulative root mean square deviation between the designed data and actual definitive prosthesis was 140.4 µm. CONCLUSIONS: The novel technique for ISFCP fabrication described in this paper can help optimise the clinical efficiency and quality of ISFCP but requires an initial learning curve. CLINICAL SIGNIFICANCE: This technique provides a direct workflow, using PG, VA, and VF data, to fabricate ISFCP based on the provisional restoration.

On the basis of establishing the prescription of Xinjianqu and clarifying the increase of the lipid-lowering active ingredients of Xinjianqu by fermentation, this paper further compared the differences in the lipid-lowering effects of Xinjianqu before and after fermentation, and studied the mechanism of Xinjianqu in the treatment of hyperlipidemia. Seventy SD rats were randomly divided into seven groups, including normal group, model group, positive drug simvastatin group(0.02 g·kg~(-1)), and low-dose and high-dose Xinjianqu groups before and after fermentation(1.6 g·kg~(-1) and 8 g·kg~(-1)), with ten rats in each group. Rats in each group were given high-fat diet continuously for six weeks to establish the model of hyperlipidemia(HLP). After successful modeling, the rats were given high-fat diet and gavaged by the corresponding drugs for six weeks, once a day, to compare the effects of Xinjianqu on the body mass, liver coefficient, and small intestine propulsion rate of rats with HLP before and after fermentation. The effects of Xinjianqu before and after fermentation on total cholesterol(TC), triacylglyceride(TG), high-density lipoprotein cholesterol(HDL-C), low-density lipoprotein cholesterol(LDL-C), alanine aminotransferase(ALT), aspartate aminotransferase(AST), blood urea nitrogen(BUN), creatinine(Cr), motilin(MTL), gastrin(GAS), and the Na~+-K~+-ATPase levels were determined by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA). The effects of Xinjianqu on liver morphology of rats with HLP were investigated by hematoxylin-eosin(HE) staining and oil red O fat staining. The effects of Xinjianqu on the protein expression of adenosine 5'-monophosphate(AMP)-activated protein kinase(AMPK), phosphorylated AMPK(p-AMPK), liver kinase B1(LKB1), and 3-hydroxy-3-methylglutarate monoacyl coenzyme A reductase(HMGCR) in liver tissues were investigated by immunohistochemistry. The effects of Xinjianqu on the regulation of intestinal flora structure of rats with HLP were studied based on 16S rDNA high-throughput sequencing technology. The results showed that compared with those in the normal group, rats in the model group had significantly higher body mass and liver coefficient(P<0.01), significantly lower small intestine propulsion rate(P<0.01), significantly higher serum levels of TC, TG, LDL-C, ALT, AST, BUN, Cr, and AQP2(P<0.01), and significantly lower serum levels of HDL-C, MTL, GAS, Na~+-K~+-ATP levels(P<0.01). The protein expression of AMPK, p-AMPK, and LKB1 in the livers of rats in the model group was significantly decreased(P<0.01), and that of HMGCR was significantly increased(P<0.01). In addition, the observed_otus, Shannon, and Chao1 indices were significantly decreased(P<0.05 or P<0.01) in rat fecal flora in the model group. Besides, in the model group, the relative abundance of Firmicutes was reduced, while that of Verrucomicrobia and Proteobacteria was increased, and the relative abundance of beneficial genera such as Ligilactobacillus and Lachnospiraceae_NK4A136_group was reduced. Compared with the model group, all Xinjianqu groups regulated the body mass, liver coefficient, and small intestine index of rats with HLP(P<0.05 or P<0.01), reduced the serum levels of TC, TG, LDL-C, ALT, AST, BUN, Cr, and AQP2, increased the serum levels of HDL-C, MTL, GAS, and Na~+-K~+-ATP, improved the liver morphology, and increased the protein expression gray value of AMPK, p-AMPK, and LKB1 in the liver of rats with HLP and decreased that of LKB1. Xinjianqu groups could regulate the intestinal flora structure of rats with HLP, increased observed_otus, Shannon, Chao1 indices, and increased the relative abundance of Firmicutes, Ligilactobacillus(genus), Lachnospiraceae_NK4A136_group(genus). Besides, the high-dose Xinjianqu-fermented group had significant effects on body mass, liver coefficient, small intestine propulsion rate, and serum index levels of rats with HLP(P<0.01), and the effects were better than those of Xinjianqu groups before fermentation. The above results show that Xinjianqu can improve the blood lipid level, liver and kidney function, and gastrointestinal motility of rats with HLP, and the improvement effect of Xinjianqu on hyperlipidemia is significantly enhanced by fermentation. The mechanism may be related to AMPK, p-AMPK, LKB1, and HMGCR protein in the LKB1-AMPK pathway and the regulation of intestinal flora structure.
