RESUMO

Lithium metal batteries (LMBs) must have both long cycle life and calendar life to be commercially viable. However, "trial and error" methodologies remain prevalent in contemporary research endeavors to identify favorable electrolytes. Here, a guiding principle for the selection of solvents for LMBs is proposed, which aims to achieve high Coulombic efficiency while minimizing the corrosion. For the first time, this study reveals that the dipole moment and orientation of solvent molecules have significant impacts on lithium metal reversibility and corrosion. Solvents with high dipole moments are more likely to adsorb onto lithium metal surfaces, which also influence the solid electrolyte interphase. Using this principle, the use of LiNO3 is demonstrated as the sole salt in LiNi0.8Co0.1Mn0.1O2/Li cells can achieve excellent cycling stability. Overall, this work bridges the molecular structure of solvents to the reversibility and corrosion of lithium metal, and these concepts can be extended to other metal-based batteries.

RESUMO

Objective: This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness and safety of auricular acupuncture (AA) on postoperative analgesia, the degree of postoperative nausea, and the effect of inflammation after total knee arthroplasty (TKA). Methods: This was a single-center, placebo-controlled, randomized clinical trial. In total, 96 patients were randomly divided into an AA group with an indwelling intradermal needle (n = 48) and a sham auricular acupuncture (SAA) group with a non-penetrating placebo needle (n = 48). Intra-spinal anesthesia was adopted in both groups during surgery, and an epidural analgesic pump was implanted after surgery for 48 h. The primary outcome was the post-surgery visual analog score (VAS) of resting and movement states (at 6, 12 h and 1, 2, 3, 5, and 7 days). The secondary outcomes included additional doses of analgesic injection during the treatment, C-reactive protein (CRP) levels, erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR), and white blood cell (WBC) count on the 1st, 3rd, and 7th day after the operation, nausea on the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd day after the operation, the Hospital for Special Surgery Knee Score (HSS) on the 2nd and 12th week after the operation, and adverse events. Results: The VAS in the AA group at 6 h, 12 h, 2, 3, and 5 days after surgery were lower than those of the SAA group (p < 0.05). Among the secondary outcomes, the total dose of additional analgesic injection after surgery in the AA group was lower than that in the SAA group (p < 0.05). The serum CRP on the 1st day after operation in the AA group was lower than that in the SAA group (p < 0.05). The degree of nausea on 2nd day after surgery in the AA group was lower than that in the SAA group (p < 0.05). There was no significant difference in other outcomes (p > 0.05). Conclusion: In this study, AA was shown to be an effective and safe complementary and alternative therapy for pain relief after TKA, which was able to reduce the total postoperative dose of additional painkillers, decrease serum CRP 1 day after surgery, and improve the degree of postoperative nausea. RESUMO

For solar cell-triboelectric nanogenerator (TENG) integration, the design of the solid substrate for the TENG device becomes one of the challenges. The TENG needs to have superior contact electrification properties and be transparent so as to ensure light transmittance. Here, by spontaneous polymerization of dichlorodimethylsilane in the absence of any toxic solvent, we have fabricated a controllable liquid-like polydimethylsiloxane brush, featuring hydrophobicity, long-term stability, robustness, and UV resistance. A drop of liquid slides off at tilt angles below 5° and there is dynamic contact angle hysteresis of no more than 10° that can provide strong self-cleaning ability to the solid substrate. This recipe is also applicable to surfaces composed of hydroxyl group-rich cellulose-based surfaces, such as flexible cellulose acetate film (CAF). Importantly, PDMS@CAF, a flexible, transparent, and self-cleaning TENG device with a light transmission rate of 99% or more, was prepared using a conductive polymer film of PH 1000. The hybrid energy harvesting system formed by the combination of this transparent TENG equipped with solar cells is promising for harvesting energy from the environment in different weather conditions.

RESUMO

Chromium (Cr) can enter groundwater through rainfall infiltration and significantly affects human health. However, the mechanisms by which soil colloids affect chromium transport are not well investigated. In this study, column experiments were conducted to simulate the chromium (Cr) transport mechanism in two typical soils (humic acid + cinnamon soil and montmorillonite + silt) in the vadose zone of a contaminated site and the effects of acid rain infiltration conditions. The results showed that Mt colloids have less influence on Cr. The fixation of Cr by colloid mainly occurs in the cinnamon soil layer containing HA colloid. The adsorption efficiency of Cr was increased by 12.8% with the addition of HA. In the HA-Cr system, the introduction of SO42- inhibited the adsorption of Cr, reducing the adsorption efficiency from 31.4% to 24.4%. The addition of Mt reduced the adsorption efficiency of Cr by 15%. In the Mt-Cr system, the introduction of SO42- had a promoting effect on Cr adsorption, with the adsorption efficiency increasing from 4.4% to 5.1%. Cr release was inhibited by 63.88% when HA colloid was present, but the inhibition owing to changes in acidity was only 14.47%. Mt colloid promotes Cr transport and increases the leaching rate by 2.64% compared to the absence of Mt. However, the effect of acidity change was not significant. Intermittent acid rain will pose a higher risk of pollutant release. Among the influencing factors, the type of colloid had the most significant influence on the efficiency of Cr leaching. This study guides the quantitative assessment of groundwater pollution risk caused by Cr in the vadose zone.

RESUMO

Objective: This study aimed to investigate the association between new inflammatory indicators at admission and the occurrence of preoperative deep vein thrombosis (DVT) in patients with patella fractures. Methods: A retrospective analysis of the medical records of patients aged 18 years or older who underwent surgical treatment for unilateral closed patella fractures at our hospital between August 2016 and August 2020. The incidence of preoperative DVT was detected by Duplex ultrasound (DUS). Partial blood routine and biochemical indexes were collected at admission, and the neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR), monocyte-to-lymphocyte ratio (MLR), and platelet-to-lymphocyte ratio (PLR) of inflammatory indexes were also calculated. ROC was used to analyze the cut-off value NLR, MLR, and PLR for predicting preoperative DVT, and univariate and multivariate analyses of the risk factors for preoperative DVT of patella fractures, and to verify whether other risk factors affecting the relationship between validation indexes and preoperative DVT. Results: A total of 500 patients were included, of which 39 patients (7.8%) developed preoperative DVT. After univariate and multivariate analysis, preoperative time (in each day delay), male (vs. female), D-dimer > 0.6 mg/L, total cholesterol (TC) > 5.6 mmol/L, and PLR > 189.8 were the risk factors for preoperative DVT in patients with patella fracture. Inflammation index PLR combined with the other four risk factors significantly improved the predictive efficacy of preoperative DVT compared with PLR (P = 0.009). Conclusion: Inflammatory index PLR is a risk factor for preoperative DVT in patients with patella fracture, and the efficacy of PLR in predicting DVT can be significantly improved when other risk factors (male, D-dimer > 0.6 mg/L, TC > 5.6 mmol/L, and PLR > 189.8 of preoperative time in each day delay) are combined. These data are useful for the clinical identification of patients at high risk of preoperative DVT in patella fractures.

RESUMO

To investigate co-transport behavior of ammonium and colloids in saturated porous media under different hydrochemical conditions, NH4+ was selected as the target contaminant, and silicon and humic acid (HA) were selected as typical organic and inorganic colloids in groundwater. Column experiments were then conducted to investigate the transport of NH4+ colloids under various hydrochemical conditions. The results showed that because of the different properties of colloidal silicon and HA after combining with NH4+, the co-transport mechanism became significantly different. During transport by the NH4+-colloid system, colloidal silicon occupied the adsorption sites on the medium surface to promote the transport of NH4+, while humic acid (HA) increased the number of adsorption sites of the medium to hinder the transport of NH4+. The co-transport of NH4+ and colloids is closely related to hydrochemical conditions. In the presence of HA, competitive adsorption and morphological changes of HA caused NH4+ to be more likely to be transported at a higher ionic strength (IS = 0.05 m, CaCl2) and alkalinity (pH = 9.3). In the presence of colloidal silicon, blocking action caused the facilitated transport to be dependent on higher ionic strength and acidity (pH = 4.5), causing the recovery of NH4+ to improve by 7.99%, 222.25% (stage 1), and 8.63%, respectively. Moreover, transport increases with the colloidal silicon concentrations of 20 mg/L then declines at 40 mg/L, demonstrating that increased concentrations will lead to blocking and particle aggregation, resulting in delayed release in the leaching stage.
