RESUMO

Understanding the pharmacokinetic profiles of nanomaterials in living organisms is essential for their application in disease treatment. Bipyramidal DNA frameworks (BDFs) are a type of DNA nanomaterial that have shown prospects in the fields of molecular imaging and therapy. To serve as a reference for disease-related studies involving the BDF, we constructed a 68Ga-BDF and employed positron emission tomography (PET) imaging to establish its pharmacokinetic model in healthy mice. Our investigation revealed that the BDF was primarily eliminated from the body via the urinary system. Ureteral obstruction could significantly alter the metabolism of the urinary system. By utilizing the established pharmacokinetic model, we sensitively observed distinct imaging indicators in unilateral ureteral obstruction and acute kidney injury (a complication of ureteral obstruction) mouse models. Furthermore, we observed that the BDF showed therapeutic effects in an AKI model. We believe that the established pharmacokinetic model and unique renal excretion characteristics of the BDF will provide researchers with more information for studying kidney diseases.

RESUMO

To evaluate the tolerance of a high-fiber diet in Erhualian pigs (Er-HL), the present investigation systematically investigated the ramifications of varying wheat bran fiber levels, specified as total dietary fiber (TDF) values of 14.07%, 16.32%, 17.99%, and 18.85%, on growth performance, fiber digestibility and gut microbiota in Er-HL, large Large White pigs (L-LW, the same physiological stage as the Er-HL) and small Large White pigs (S-LW, the same body weight as the Er-HL). Our results revealed that fiber levels exerted no discernable impact on growth performance (average daily feed intake (ADFI), and average daily gain (ADG)) of Er-HL (p > 0.05). Conversely, L-LW exhibited a decrease in ADFI and ADG with increasing fiber levels (p < 0.05). Notably, the apparent total tract digestibility (ATTD) of various fiber components, including neutral detergent fiber (NDF), acid detergent fiber (ADF), hemicellulose, TDF and insoluble dietary fiber (IDF), in Er-HL were significantly higher than those in S-LW and L-LW irrespective of diets (p < 0.05). The ATTD of cellulose and hemicellulose in Er-HL significantly decreased with increasing fiber levels (p < 0.05), yet remained statistically indifferent when comparing the 7%-wheat-bran-replaced diet (7% WRB, TDF 16.32%) to the basal diet (TDF 14.07%) (p > 0.05). The cecal microbiota of Er-HL had higher richness estimators (Chao1 and ACE) than those of S-LW and L-LW irrespective of diets (p < 0.01). Breed serves as a pivotal determinant in shaping swine gut microbiota. Thirteen genera were selected as the key bacteria related to high fiber digestibility of Er-HL. Further functional examination of these key genera elucidated an enrichment of pathways pertinent to carbohydrate metabolism in Er-HL samples compared with S-LW and L-LW samples. In summary, Er-HL exhibited high-fiber tolerance both in terms of growth performance and fiber digestibility compared with Large White pigs. Specifically, the ATTD of NDF, ADF, hemicellulose, IDF and TDF were significantly higher in Er-HL compared with L-LW and S-LW, irrespective of diets. Fiber level exerted no discernable impact on growth performance (ADFI, ADG) and the ATTD of fiber (NDF, ADF, IDF and TDF) in Er-HL. The optimum fiber level of the Er-HL was identified as 7% WRB (TDF 16.32%). Thirteen genera were ascertained to significantly contribute to high fiber digestibility of Er-HL, correlating with an enhancement of carbohydrate metabolism pathways.

RESUMO

This paper investigates the detection of the transmitted power violation (TPV) in the satellite-terrestrial integrated network, where the terrestrial base station may break the spectrum policies so that severe damages are made to the satellite systems. Due to the lack of prior information on specific abnormal behaviors, this problem is complex and challenging. To tackle it, we first turn to the geolocation spectrum database based detecting framework, where not only the tasks of each segment but also the spectrum policies are specified. Then, the ternary hypothesis test and the generalized Neyman-Pearson (GMNP) test criterion are applied to maximize the detection probability under the false-alarm constraint. What is more, the Abnormal after Normal (AaN) detector is developed to simplify the analysis. Finally, simulations are conducted to demonstrate that the proposed detector can realize the detection of TPV in most cases at the expense of less than 10% detection probability.

RESUMO

The effects of oxygen reactive ion etching (RIE) on the surface wettability of aligned carbon nanotube (CNT) films have been systematically investigated. It was found that 3 s of RIE treatment could change the surface of CNT films from hydrophobic to more hydrophilic. The degree of modification in the surface wettability of the film could be controlled by the flow rate of O2 gas during the RIE process. It is proposed that such a surface hydrophobicity change is related to the opened structure and functionalized tip of as-treated CNTs by oxygen reactive ions. More importantly, after the RIE treatment, focused laser pruning was utilized to trim the surface layer of treated CNTs and revert them back to a hydrophobic surface. Combined with the laser pruning technique and O2 RIE treatment, CNT templates with interlaced wettability surfaces in a stripe pattern have been fabricated. It has been demonstrated that this interlaced and structured wettability pattern can be used to selectively assemble microspheres or quantum dots on the aligned CNT films with desired patterns.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVES: To investigate the timing and effect of surgical treatment of diplopia caused by hypertrophic inferior rectus in patients with Graves' ophthalmopathy and pathologic changes of inferior recti. METHODS: Eleven diplopic patients with restrictive superior motion and enlarged inferior recti confirmed by CT scan were collected, and the inferior recti were recessed. Specimens of inferior recti obtained during operation were stained by HE, PAS and observed by light microscope. RESULTS: There was no diplopia after operation when patients looked down and horizontally in eleven cases. Eye position was normal. HE and PAS stain showed stiffness of muscular fiber, small muscular cell with degeneration, obvious proliferation of fibrous tissue in endomysium, perimysium and epimysium, which enlarged extraocular muscle. CONCLUSION: Poor function of inferior recti due to enormous proliferation of fibrous tissue and degeneration of muscular fiber results in the occurrence of diplopia. Recession of inferior recti can eliminate patients' diplopia.
