RESUMO

In condensed-matter systems, electrons are subjected to two different interactions under certain conditions. Even if both interactions are weak, it is difficult to perform perturbative calculations due to the complexity caused by the interplay of two interactions. When one or two interactions are strong, ordinary perturbation theory may become invalid. Here we consider undoped graphene as an example and provide a non-perturbative quantum-field-theoretic analysis of the interplay of electron-phonon interaction and Coulomb interaction. We treat these two interactions on an equal footing and derive the exact Dyson-Schwinger (DS) integral equation of the full Dirac-fermion propagator. This equation depends on several complicated correlation functions and thus is difficult to handle. Fortunately, we find that these correlation functions obey a number of exact identities, which allows us to prove that the DS equation of full fermion propagator is self-closed. After solving this self-closed equation, we obtain the renormalized fermion velocity and show that its energy (momentum) dependence of renormalized fermion velocity is dominantly determined by the electron-phonon (Coulomb) interaction. In particular, the renormalized velocity exhibits a logarithmic momentum dependence and a non-monotonic energy dependence.

RESUMO

The aim of this research is to explore the biological and chemical diversity of bacteria associated with a marine flatworm Paraplanocera sp., and to discover the bioactive metabolites from culturable strains. A total of 141 strains of bacteria including 45 strains of actinomycetes and 96 strains of other bacteria were isolated, identified and fermented on a small scale. Bioactive screening (antibacterial and cytotoxic activities) and chemical screening (ultra-performance liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (UPLC-MS)) yielded several target bacterial strains. Among these strains, the ethyl acetate (EA) crude extract of Streptomyces sp. XY-FW47 fermentation broth showed strong antibacterial activity against methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus ATCC43300 (MRSA ATCC43300) and potent cytotoxic effects on HeLa cells. The UPLC-MS spectral analysis of the crude extract indicated that the strain XY-FW47 could produce a series of geldanamycins (GMs). One new geldanamycin (GM) analog, 4,5-dihydro-17-O-demethylgeldanamycin (1), and three known GMs (2-4) were obtained. All of these compounds were tested for antibacterial, cytotoxic, and antifungal activities, yet only GM (3) showed potent cytotoxic (HeLa cells, EC50 = 1.12 µg/mL) and antifungal (Setosphaeria turcica MIC = 2.40 µg/mL) activities. Their structure-activity relationship (SAR) was also preliminarily discussed in this study.

RESUMO

Triterpenoid saponins are difficult to analyze using high-performance liquid chromatography coupled to UV/vis spectrophotometry due to their lack of chromophores. This study describes the first analytical method for the determination of 15 triterpenoid saponins from the leaves, stems, root bark, and fruits of Acanthopanax henryi, using a high-performance liquid chromatography with charged aerosol detection coupled with electrospray ionization mass spectrometry method. The separation was carried out on a Kinetex XB-C18 column with an acetonitrile/water gradient as the mobile phase, followed by charged aerosol detection. The operating conditions of charged aerosol detection were set at 24 kPa for nitrogen pressure and 100 pA for the detection range. Liquid chromatography with electrospray ionization mass spectrometry is described for the identification of compounds in plant samples. The electrospray ionization mass spectrometry method involved the use of the [M + Na](+) and [M + NH4 ](+) ions for compounds 1-15 in the positive ion mode with an extracted ion chromatogram. The developed method was fully validated in terms of linearity, sensitivity, precision, repeatability, and recovery, then subsequently applied to evaluate the quality of A. henryi.

RESUMO

Dynamic gap generation in graphene under the long-range Coulomb interaction is studied by the Dyson-Schwinger gap equation beyond the instantaneous approximation. Once the dependence of the dynamic gap on the energy has been considered, the critical interaction strength α(c) decreases to 0.542. If the renormalization of the fermion velocity is considered, α(c) will become α(c) = 1.02. This indicates that the dependence on the energy and the renormalization of the fermion velocity are both important for dynamic gap generation in graphene under long-range Coulomb interaction.

RESUMO

A sufficiently strong Coulomb interaction may open an excitonic fermion gap and thus drive a semi-metal-insulator transition in graphene. In this paper, we study the Eliashberg theory of excitonic transition by coupling the fermion gap equation self-consistently to the equation of the vacuum polarization function. Including the fermion gap into the polarization function increases the effective strength of the Coulomb interaction because it reduces the screening effects due to the collective particle-hole excitations. Although this procedure does not change the critical point, it leads to a significant enhancement of the dynamical fermion gap in the excitonic insulating phase. The validity of the Eliashberg theory is justified by showing that the vertex corrections are suppressed at the large N limit.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: To establish an canine model of femoral head osteonecrosis using an improved liquid nitrogen freezing method. METHODS: Sixteen adult canines were divided into 4 groups at random and subjected to instant freezing of the unilateral femoral head with liquid nitrogen. The dogs were observed at 2, 4, 8, and 16 weeks after the operation for radiographic, gross and pathological changes of the femoral head. RESULTS: Significant radiographic, gross and pathological changes occurred in the femoral head after the freezing. CONCLUSION: Improved liquid nitrogen freezing of the femoral head provides a simple and convenient method for establishing animal models of femoral head osteonecrosis.

RESUMO

A method for the analysis of alkaloids in Macleaya cordata (Willd.) R. Br. using high-performance liquid chromatography with diode array detection and electrospray ionization mass spectrometry (HPLC-DAD-ESI/MS) was developed. Using protopine (PRO), allocryptopine (ALL), sanguinarine (SA), and chelerythrine (CHE) as the model components, different columns for the separation and different mobile phases for the signal intensities of alkaloids in ESI/MS were investigated, respectively. The results showed that good separation and high signal intensities can be obtained on a high carbon loading (17%) reversed-phase C(18) column with 30 mM formic acid in mobile phase for the analysis of alkaloids. Under the optimal separation condition and UV detection (284 nm), linearity of the six alkaloids was obtained over concentration range from 0.05 to 100.00 microg/ml. The limit of detection (LOD) was 1.62, 1.87, 1.79, 1.76, 1.10, and 0.94 ng/ml for SA, CHE, PRO, ALL, dihydrosanguinarine (DHSA), and dihydrochelerythrine (DHCHE), respectively. The LODs with ESI/MS detection were lower three orders of magnitude than those obtained with UV detection. The proposed method could be used to control quality of the raw materials of the herb more comprehensively.
