RESUMO

Sudden sensorineural hearing loss (SSNHL) accompanied by benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV) is relatively common in the clinic. There are unified standards for the treatment of primary BPPV with good reduction effect, while there are few studies on the treatment of BPPV secondary to SSNHL within 1 week of onset. The study was to investigate the treatment of BPPV secondary to SSNHL and compare its manual reduction with that of primary BPPV. We selected 90 patients with BPPV accompanied by SSNHL within a week of onset and 210 primary BPPV patients at Hebei Provincial Eye Hospital from June 2020 to December 2022. The former group was divided into the medicine group and manual reduction plus medicine group. The medicines used were extract of Ginkgo biloba leaves injection, betahistine hydrochloride injection and oral prednisone. We contrasted the efficacy respectively for posterior semicircular canal BPPV (psc-BPPV), horizontal semicircular canal BPPV (hsc-BPPV) and multiple semicircular canal BPPV (msc-BPPV). In addition, we compared the manual reduction effect for primary BPPV and manual reduction group, and the evaluation of efficacy are the intensity of nystagmus and the clinical symptoms. In the secondary BPPV group, there was no difference in efficacy between the medicine group and manual reduction group at the 7th-day after reduction for psc-BPPV, hsc-BPPV, and msc-BPPV (P > .05). The immediate effect of reduction was significantly different between the primary BPPV group and the group with SSNHL and BPPV for both psc-BPPV and hsc-BPPV (P < .05), and the effect of the primary BPPV group was better, but it was no difference for msc-BPPV (P > .05). For the treatment of BPPV accompanied by SSNHL within 1 week of onset, the additional reduction therapy showed no benefit, so we need to apply medication for SSNHL.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: To analyze the compatibility regularities of acupoints and the application characteristics of needling-moxibustionmethods in the treatment of ankle sprain by using complex network technology, so as to provide the basis and treatment ideas. METHODS: The clinical research articles on acupuncture treatment of ankle joint sprain published from November 2011 to November 2021 were retrieved from databases of CNKI, Wanfang Data knowledge service platform, VIP information Chinese journal service platform and PubMed by using key words of "acupuncture""moxibustion" "acupuncture and moxibustion" "ankle injury" "ankle sprain" "injured ankle" and "syndesmotic injuries". After screening these articles according to our inclusion and exclusion criteria, a database of acupuncture treatment of ankle sprain was established. Then, analysis on the occurrence frequency of acupoints and their related meridians, and methods of needling manipulation, and the association rule analysis (quantitative analysis) about the closeness between acupoints, and the degree of support and confidence coefficient were conducted for acquiring the acupoint combinations with higher correlation in the compatibility using Apriori algorithm after modeling (with IBM SPSS Modeler18.0 software). Gephi 0.9.2 software was used to make complex network analysis, for which "k-core hierarchical analysis" and "community analysis" were used as the methods to analyze the network structure of acupoints, and the confidence value was used as the index to measure the importance of acupoints. RESULTS: A total of 201 articles meeting the criteria were collected, including 196 articles in Chinese and 5 in English. A total of 236 acupuncture prescriptions were extracted, involving 61 acupoints, with a total frequency of occurrence being 846. The top 10 acupoints were Ashi point, Kunlun (BL60), Jiexi (ST41), Qiuxu (GB40), Shenmai (BL62), Yanglingquan (GB34), Taixi (KI3), Zhaohai (KI6), Xuanzhong (GB39) and Shangqiu (SP5), with the occurrence frequency being 109, 79, 70, 68, 63, 59, 53, 52, 37 and 34, respectively. The results of descriptive analysis showed that the top 5 meridians were Gallbladder Meridian of Foot-shaoyang, Bladder Meridian of Foot-taiyang, Kidney Meridian of Foot-shaoyin, Stomach Meridian of Foot-yangming and Spleen Meridian of Foot-taiyin, with the frequency being 181, 153, 116, 105 and 53, respectively. Complex network analysis displayed that after "k-core hierarchical analysis" and "Community division", two communities were reserved, mainly involving 15 core acupoints such as Ahshi point, GB40, ST14, BL62, GB34, KI6, BL60, KI3, GB39, Zusanli (ST36), SP5; Taichong (LR3), Zulinqi (GB41), Sanyinjiao (SP6) and Rangu (KI2). The results of association rule analysis showed that the most relevant acupoint combination is "BL60-ST41" (support degree 34.83%), followed by "BL60-KI3" (support degree 26.37%), reflecting the principle of selection of local acupoint for ankle sprain. The therapeutic methods are filiform needle acupuncture, and the reducing technique and uniform reinforcing and reducing manipulation are the most commonly used approaches, but the reinforcing method is rarely used. CONCLUSION: In the treatment of ankle sprain, local acupoints and Ashi points are mainly used, in combination with reducing or uniform reinforcing and reducing manipulations, as well as the method of needling and moxibustion, which provides a good reference for clinical practice.

RESUMO

Poultry is susceptible to fatty liver which lead to decrease egg production and increase mortality. But the potential molecular mechanisms remain largely unclear. In the current study, in combination with transcriptome sequencing and miRNA sequencing data analysis from F1 generation of the normal liver and fatty liver tissues, the differentially expressed miR-375 and its target gene RBPJ were screened and verified. The expression levels of miR-375 and RBPJ gene in the liver between control and fatty liver groups of F0-F3 generation for Jingxing-Huang (JXH) chicken are different significantly (P < 0.05 or P < 0.01). And downregulated RBPJ expression can promote TG content and lipid droplets in primary hepatocytes cultured in vitro (P < 0.01). Cell proliferation-related genes, including PMP22, IGF-1, IGF-2, and IGFBP-5, increased or decreased significantly after overexpression or knock-down RBPJ (P < 0.05 or P < 0.01), respectively. This study uniquely revealed that miR-375 induced lipid synthesis and inhibited cell proliferation may partly due to regulation of RBPJ expression, thereby involving in fatty liver formation and inheritance in chicken. The results could be useful in identifying candidate genes and revealing the pathogenesis of fatty liver that may be used for disease-resistance selective breeding in chicken.

RESUMO

Using the complex network technology, the characteristics of the core acupoint prescriptions and the application of acupuncture-moxibustion techniques were analyzed in treatment of rheumatoid arthritis (RA) so as to provide the evidences for acupoint selection and therapeutic methods for RA treated with acupuncture and moxibustion. The articles of acupuncture and moxibustion for treatment of RA in recent 20 years were collated and imported, and the database of the acupoint prescriptions was developed. Using Cytoscape 3.9.2 software, the acupoints in the prescriptions were visualized for the common occurrence network analysis. The association rule analysis was performed with IBM SPSS Modeler 18.0 software and the complex network analysis was by Gephi 0.9.2 software. A total of 798 articles were screened, in which, 3 258 prescriptions were extracted with 253 acupoints involved. The analysis of acupoint selection was conducted in terms of syndrome/pattern differentiation, acupoint locations and main acupoints, and therapeutic methods. The results showed that the most common TCM syndromes of RA included painful bi syndrome, wandering bi syndrome, fixed bi syndrome and bi syndrome due to wind, damp and heat. Regarding the core combination of acupoints, painful bi syndrome: Guanyuan (CV 4) and Shenshu (BL 23); fixed bi syndrome: Yinlingquan (SP 9), Sanyinjiao (SP 6), Zusanli (ST 36), Pishu (BL 20) and Fenglong (ST 40); wandering bi syndrome: Fengchi (GB 20), Geshu (BL 17), Fengmen (BL 12), Xuehai (SP 10) and Waiguan (TE 5); bi syndrome due to wind, damp and heat: Dazhui (GV 14), Quchi (LI 11) and Hegu (LI 4). Regarding the acupoint locations, the acupoints located in the upper limbs, lower limbs and spinal region were generally selected. Quchi (LI 11) was one of the main acupoints in prescriptions with the highest use frequency. Zusanli (ST 36) and Shenshu (BL 23) presented the highest co-occurrence intensity, while Zusanli (ST 36) and Quchi (LI 11) indicated the highest correlation. The treatment of acupuncture-moxibustion for RA is generally complied with the principle as "the synthesis of main acupoints, supplementary acupoints in local affected area and those based on syndrome differentiation". Warm needling and the combination of acupuncture and herbal medication are the most common therapeutic methods for RA.

RESUMO

Integration of template-based modeling, global sampling and precise scoring is crucial for the development of molecular docking programs with improved accuracy. We combined template-based modeling and ab-initio docking protocol as hybrid docking strategy called CoDock for the docking and scoring experiments of the seventh CAPRI edition. For CAPRI rounds 38-45, we obtained acceptable or better models in the top 10 submissions for eight out of the 16 evaluated targets as predictors, nine out of the 16 targets as scorers. Especially, we submitted acceptable models for all of the evaluated protein-oligosaccharide targets. For the CASP13-CAPRI experiment (round 46), we obtained acceptable or better models in the top 5 submissions for 10 out of the 20 evaluated targets as predictors, 11 out of the 20 targets as scorers. The failed cases for our group were mainly the difficult targets and the protein-peptide systems in CAPRI and CASP13-CAPRI experiments. In summary, this CAPRI edition showed that our hybrid docking strategy can be efficiently adapted to the increasing variety of challenges in the field of molecular interactions.

RESUMO

We present the results for CAPRI Round 46, the third joint CASP-CAPRI protein assembly prediction challenge. The Round comprised a total of 20 targets including 14 homo-oligomers and 6 heterocomplexes. Eight of the homo-oligomer targets and one heterodimer comprised proteins that could be readily modeled using templates from the Protein Data Bank, often available for the full assembly. The remaining 11 targets comprised 5 homodimers, 3 heterodimers, and two higher-order assemblies. These were more difficult to model, as their prediction mainly involved "ab-initio" docking of subunit models derived from distantly related templates. A total of ~30 CAPRI groups, including 9 automatic servers, submitted on average ~2000 models per target. About 17 groups participated in the CAPRI scoring rounds, offered for most targets, submitting ~170 models per target. The prediction performance, measured by the fraction of models of acceptable quality or higher submitted across all predictors groups, was very good to excellent for the nine easy targets. Poorer performance was achieved by predictors for the 11 difficult targets, with medium and high quality models submitted for only 3 of these targets. A similar performance "gap" was displayed by scorer groups, highlighting yet again the unmet challenge of modeling the conformational changes of the protein components that occur upon binding or that must be accounted for in template-based modeling. Our analysis also indicates that residues in binding interfaces were less well predicted in this set of targets than in previous Rounds, providing useful insights for directions of future improvements.

RESUMO

Peroxiredoxin 3 (PRX3) is predominantly located in mitochondria and plays a major role in scavenging hydrogen peroxide of mitochondria. In the present study, we detected plasma PRX3 in pregnant women receiving oral glucose tolerance test at 24-28 gestational weeks. Plasma PRX3 was significantly increased about 1 h later than insulin secretion. In vitro detection of PRX3 in mouse islet cells showed up-regulation by more than 2-fold at 1 h and reached its top at 2 h of glucose stimulation, and the PRX3 level in cultured mediums was concomitantly elevated in a glucose concentration-dependent manner. In addition, both fasting plasma insulin and PRX3 were significantly higher in the subjects of term pregnancy as compared to that at 24-28 gestational weeks, and there was a positive correlation between plasma PRX3 and insulin. Our results indicate that PRX3 plays an active role in the response to insulin release. The positive association of plasma PRX3 and insulin suggest PRX3 to be a potential indicator of high insulin resistance.

RESUMO

Teeth impaction is a common developmental malformation in oral diseases. Impacted teeth are usually the canines, third molar, central incisors, premolars, and second molars. The prevalence of impaction of maxillary canines and mandibular wisdom teeth is higher than that of other teeth. Most recent studies have focused on the canines and third molars, but research on impacted premolars is limited. In clinical practice, the majority of orthodontic patients require premolar extraction. Thus, impacted premolars play important roles in orthodontic design and prognosis. This article provides an overview of recent research on impacted premolars and summarizes epidemiological features, localizations, and treatments, with the aim of guiding practitioners on orthodontic design and therapy.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: To study the antiemetic effect of Ju-Pi-Tang from Jin Kui Yao Lue on cisplatin-induced emetic model in minks, and to observe the immunoexpression of peripheral and central c-fos and substance P. METHODS: The minks were randomly divided into blank control group, Ju-Pi-Tang blank control group, model group, ondansetron group, aprepitant group, Ju-Pi-Tang (in high-, mid-, and low-dose) groups. Every group was administered with the antiemetic agent or distilled water on 24 h before cisplatin injection. The antiemetic effect of drugs was investigated in the emetic model of minks induced by cisplatin in 72 h observation. Immunohistochemistry was used to compare the differences of c-fos and substance P expression in the area postrema of brain and distal ileum tissues. RESULTS: During observation period, compared with model group, the frequency cisplatin induced retching and vomiting was significantly reduced by Ju-Pi-Tang in high- and mid-dose groups, during the 0-24 h acute period, the number of retching of Ju-Pi-Tang in high-dose group was decreased more than aprepitant group, during the 24-72 h delayed period, the number of both retching and vomiting was decreased more than ondansetron group, after 72 h of cisplatin administration, compared with model group, the grey levels of c-fos and substance P expression in distal ileum and brain tissues of Ju-Pi-Tang groups were higher significantly. CONCLUSION: Ju-Pi-Tang has a good effect against cisplatin-induced emesis in minks.

RESUMO

Silicon nanowires (SiNWs) have attracted great attention as promising anode materials for lithium ion batteries (LIBs) on account of their high capacity and improved cyclability compared with bulk silicon. The interface behavior, especially the solid electrolyte interphase (SEI), plays a significant role in the performance and stability of the electrodes. We report herein an in situ single nanowire atomic force microscopy (AFM) method to investigate the interface electrochemistry of silicon nanowire (SiNW) electrode. The morphology and Young's modulus of the individual SiNW anode surface during the SEI growth were quantitatively tracked. Three distinct stages of the SEI formation on the SiNW anode were observed. On the basis of the potential-dependent morphology and Young's modulus evolution of SEI, a mixture-packing structural model was proposed for the SEI film on SiNW anode.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: To explore the expressions and functions of the kisspeptin/kiss1r system and GnRH in the hypothalamic arcuate nucleus (HAN) and the influence of the kisspeptin/kiss1r system on the hypothalamic-pituitary-testis (HPT) axis in the rat models of diet-induced obesity. METHODS: Ninety newborn SD male rats were randomly assigned to receive normal diet (n = 30) and high-fat diet (n = 60) for the establishment of obesity models. The model rats were again equally divided into a control group and an experimental group, the latter injected with kisspeptin via the lateral ventricle. Then the body mass index (BMI) and endocrine hormone levels of the rats were recorded, the protein expressions of LepR, kisspeptin, kiss1r, and GnRH in the HAN determined by immunohistochemistry and Western blot, and the levels of GnRH mRNA in the HAN measured by qRT-PCR. RESULTS: Significantly increased BMI and hormone levels indicated the successful establishment of diet-induced obesity models. Compared with the normal rats, the protein expressions of LepR, kisspeptin, and GnRH in the HAN were markedly decreased in the controls, and that of GnRH and the levels of LH and T significantly increased, but the expressions of LepR and kiss1r showed no remarkable changes in the experimental rats. CONCLUSION: Lateral ventricular injection of kisspeptin can upregulate obesity-induced low expression of GnRH, correct the dysfunction of the HPT axis, and thus improve reproductive function in rats.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Intramuscular fat (IMF) is one of the important factors influencing meat quality, however, for chickens, the molecular regulatory mechanisms underlying this trait have not yet been determined. In this study, a systematic identification of candidate genes and new pathways related to IMF deposition in chicken breast tissue has been made using gene expression profiles of two distinct breeds: Beijing-you (BJY), a slow-growing Chinese breed possessing high meat quality and Arbor Acres (AA), a commercial fast-growing broiler line. RESULTS: Agilent cDNA microarray analyses were conducted to determine gene expression profiles of breast muscle sampled at different developmental stages of BJY and AA chickens. Relative to d 1 when there is no detectable IMF, breast muscle at d 21, d 42, d 90 and d 120 (only for BJY) contained 1310 differentially expressed genes (DEGs) in BJY and 1080 DEGs in AA. Of these, 34-70 DEGs related to lipid metabolism or muscle development processes were examined further in each breed based on Gene Ontology (GO) analysis. The expression of several DEGs was correlated, positively or negatively, with the changing patterns of lipid content or breast weight across the ages sampled, indicating that those genes may play key roles in these developmental processes. In addition, based on KEGG pathway analysis of DEGs in both BJY and AA chickens, it was found that in addition to pathways affecting lipid metabolism (pathways for MAPK & PPAR signaling), cell junction-related pathways (tight junction, ECM-receptor interaction, focal adhesion, regulation of actin cytoskeleton), which play a prominent role in maintaining the integrity of tissues, could contribute to the IMF deposition. CONCLUSION: The results of this study identified potential candidate genes associated with chicken IMF deposition and imply that IMF deposition in chicken breast muscle is regulated and mediated not only by genes and pathways related to lipid metabolism and muscle development, but also by others involved in cell junctions. These findings establish the groundwork and provide new clues for deciphering the molecular mechanisms underlying IMF deposition in poultry. Further studies at the translational and posttranslational level are now required to validate the genes and pathways identified here.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: To analyze the characteristics of subjective visual horizontal (SVH) and evaluate its clinical value for vestibular function in peripheral unilateral vestibular hypofunction (UVH). METHODS: Eighty-five patients with UVH (study group) and 39 normal persons (control group) accepted vestibular function tests, including SVH, subjective visual vertical (SVV) and caloric test by video-nystagmography. The parameters of the angle of SVH and SVV, directional preponderance (DP) and unilateral weakness (UW) of caloric test were observed. The correlation between SVH/SVV, DP, UW and the course of disease were investigated respectively. SPSS 16.0 software was used to analyze the data. RESULTS: Reference range of SVH and SVV was from -2° to 2° in the control group. Among the 85 patients, 46 cases (54.1%) and 43 cases (50.6%) had the abnormal values of SVH and SVV respectively, with no statistical significance (χ(2) = 12.5, P = 0.481) by chi square test. Fifty-five cases (64.7%) with abnormal DP had no statistical significance when compared with SVH and SVV respectively (χ(2) values were 0.19 and 2.86, respectively, P value were 0.164, 0.067, respectively). In UVH, there were positive correlation between SVH, SVV and DP (r value was 0.939, 0.648, 0.658, all P < 0.05) respectively, but no correlation between UW and SVH or SVV (r value was 0.048, 0.085, all P > 0.05). According to the permutation and combination of the four parameters, positive or negative, three main groups could be defined [SVH(+)DP(+)UW(+), SVH(-)DP(+)UW(+), SVH(-)DP(-)UW(+); SVV(+)DP(+)UW(+), SVV(-)DP(+)UW(+), SVV(-)DP(-)UW(+)]. The course of disease in the three main groups was positively skewed distribution, with median of 5.0, 10.0, 15.0 d and 5.0, 9.5, 14.5 d respectively. By Kruskal-Wallis Test, χ(2) value were 8.80 and 6.26, respectively(P value were 0.012, 0.040, respectively), with statistical significance between the above three main groups. CONCLUSIONS: The SVH value can evaluate the function of the otolithic. The angle of SVH and SVV are changing in the course of disease, SVH and SVV can be used as a guidance of the vestibular compensation evaluation.

RESUMO

Anatase-type TiO2 fine powders were synthesized under hydrothermal condition. The precursor was obtained via precipitation route using Ti(SO4)2. The characterization of the as-prepared sample was confirmed by TEM, XRD, UV-Vis and low temperature N2 adsorption measurements (BET). The photocatalytic activity was also investigated by the degradation of methyl orange solutions. The particles of the as-synthesized sample with narrow size distribution had an average diameter of about 24 nm. The specific BET surface area of the as-synthesized sample was about 56 m2 x g(-1), which is similar to the commercial TiO2 (P25). The prepared materials showed the similar photocatalytic activity when compared with the performance of commercial TiO2 (P25).

RESUMO

Titania nanotubes (TNTs) were synthesized by hydrothermal treatment of rutile-phase TiO2 nanoparticals in NaOH solution at 110 degrees C for 24 hours. After drying in aceton for 36 h, the TNTs were under vacuum drying for 24 h at room temperature. The Pt-inserted titania nanotubes (Pt/TNTs) were obtained by filling H2 PtCl6 ethanol solution into the TNTs after vacuum drying. The characterizations of the as-synthesized samples were confirmed by TEM, XRD, and UV-Vis. The photocatalytic activity of the Pt/TNTs was investigated by photo-induced decomposition of methyl orange(MO)under the main 365 nm UV-light. In order to comparison, the photocatalytic activity of both the rutile-phase TiO2 nanoparticles and pure TNTs were also investigated at the same time under the same experimental conditions. The TEM images show that the TNTs are hollow, a few hundred nanometers long, and the inner/outer diameter is about 6/10 nm. The crystal structure of TNTs is H2Ti2O5 x H2O with a little Na. Both the shape and the crystalline of the TNTs are not changed after the modification. The oval or round Pt0 nanoparticals, about 3 nm in diameter, are found only in the nanotubes. Pt/TNTs exhibit enhanced absorption at the visible range in the UV-Vis spectra and its start absorption band edge(lambda0 approximately 457 nm)is obviously redshifted compared to the rutile-phase TiO2 nanoparticals and pure TNTs. The Pt nanoparticles are found to significantly enhance the photocatalytic activity of TNTs. Pt/TNTs are demonstrated to be highly efficient for the UV-light induced photocatalytic decomposition of MO compared to both the rutile-phase TiO2 nanoparticals and pure TNTs. After irradiation for 60 min, the photocatalysis decomposition rate of MO in rutile-phase TiO2 nanoparticals, TNTs and Pt/TNTs are 46.8%, 57.2% and 84.6% respectively.
